oh no all these poorly babies

Mimi is doing well in her cloth. so cute and big bummed!

Mimi has MMR next week, just after my MW appt so at least i don't have to go to the surgery twice.

bunnyrabbit · 07/07/2009 10:47

Hippy burpday Peachy!

Ellie, not terrible twos but the realisation that she can control you, well at least she thinks she can!! DS2 is doing this too and the tantrems are pretty impressive I must say, but fleeting.

Didn't think about signs. That's a really good idea. To be honest though, you probably know what she wants = YOU. And when she wants it = NOW... LOL

Glad you're getting some sleep now.

Scorps, can we have pictures of the chunky bummed bubba? And hope all goes well with the MMR.

SuzeMcG · 07/07/2009 12:05

Sorry about your uncle, Sal.

E seems to be happy at nursery now though cries when I leave her, which I suppose is normal. She has started saying "oh dear" when she drops/throws something on the ground.

She gets annoyed when I don't do exactly what she wants, when she wants.

Happy birthday for tomorrow, Peachy!

SuzeMcG · 08/07/2009 08:39

E was awake at 1, and then 4-6am, then up again at 8. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Luckily, I don't start work until next week. I don't know what was up with her. She seems in good form now but a bit tired.

bunnyrabbit · 08/07/2009 08:47

Oh Suze poor little E. Is it teeth do you think? DS2 has cut a biggy and was quite whingey and coughy (is that a word?) at the weekend.

Was she unhappy for the 2 hours she was awake?

Here's hoping you can catch a nap when she does today.

BR

SuzeMcG · 08/07/2009 11:50

Hi BR, she had a couple of mini tantrums then calmed down! It may have been her teeth as she was chewing on the baby monitor (she likes to play with the torch). I gave her calpol and some milk (as she is not eating much at nursery so maybe was hungry), tried to get her to sleep in with us and eventually gave up and got up at 6. She thought this was just great fun and wanted to play! DH thinks she is upset at being separated from me, maybe. I hope this doesn't happen frequently when I am back at work.

I was swaying on having another baby but think that she will definitely be an only child!!

Hope your DS is back on form.

bunnyrabbit · 08/07/2009 12:50

Oh poor you. At least it sounds like E was enjoying herself .

mmm my sister talks a lot about seperation anxiety etc, but IMHO I really think that for a lot of babies this age, they have the dawning realisation that they can control things by their behaviour. They point and they get/or you take them there, they shout and you come running. In fact they get what they want when they want, so the first time they don't, all hell breaks loose!!

DS2's tatrems are absolutely hilarious as he sort of folds forwards on to his legs and his face screws up. I try not to laugh and just ignore him and talk to DS1 so he stops pretty quickly when he realises he is not getting anywhere.

Just keep telling your self that it's lovely your little girl is clever enough to work out she can manipulate you, and then gentle prove to her that she can't!!

LOL

EllieG · 08/07/2009 13:30

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEACHY!

SuzeMcG · 08/07/2009 15:25

I think you are right, BR. She defnitely acts up more for me than for DH, I hate to hear her cry but really she is crying because she isn't getting her own way.

Hope you are having a lovely birthday Peachy.

bunnyrabbit · 08/07/2009 15:40

Hippy burpday Peachy.

bunnyrabbit · 08/07/2009 15:41

Suze, more than likely!! Here's hoping you have a quieter night tonight.

BR

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 08/07/2009 16:52

Thanks all

Well it seems nbas had rubella but he's OK now, rash fading and much brighter; on the day of the vaccinations he had a temp of 38 and both MMR and Measles were refused so its just one of those things. AIBU to smile that it saves s £110 in rubella jab fees though?

Quiet day today, watched ds3's sports day and you can just see how happy he is- tiny school, each year has one class of 20 and the SNU bit has 9 in infants and 10 in juniors. He was getting hugs, shouts etc from everyone!

Bit embarassed though- new postie came over chatting earlier... started waffling about how his widfe was 7 months pg and having a hoy- did I know what I am having yet? DH and I were ! I'm chubbed, but in proportion IYKWIM

Nevertheless no diets until birthday cake enjoyed

SalLikesCoffee · 08/07/2009 21:04

Happy birthday, Peachy!!!

I think Postie just wanted to freak you out so that you could give your cake to him!

Thanks for all the kind messages earlier, everyone.

Tantrumwise - yup, here too. We'll need to do some serious sleep training again this weekend. Not that R ever slept through properly mind you, but with the time difference his sleep patterns are seriously screwed up. I just don't have enough energy to bother doing anything about it this week. Am however trying to gently get him used to going to bed times... Yawn yawn yawn.

SuzeMcG · 09/07/2009 15:09

Peachy, that's great that your ds3 is so happy at school. The postman needs glasses, I'd say.

Sal, I usually put E to bed at 7/7.30 but someone suggested that I keep her up until a bit later. I put her in bed at 8 last night and she slept until 6.30. It may have been a coincidence but worth a try?

I really hope my company will allow me do a four day week before too long. I am going to ask as soon as I can! When I dropped E to nursery this morning, she didn't cry but looked so sad and resigned that I started crying.

LadyBee · 09/07/2009 22:51

Hello, poor old B is still poorly but I think it's just a cold (or maybe Swine flu, who knows?). He woke at 5 this morning and ended up being sick a couple of times.
But I think I found something that helps him to sleep a bit longer in the mornings - formula! We'd moved him on to cow's milk but had still been using a mix at nights, until quite recently. The other night we ran out of whole milk so I used formula and then bingo! slept til 7:30.

Not sure it's definitely the thing but am going to keep on with it for a bit longer.

I'm glad BabyBee is not the only baby with a will of iron. B definitely wants what he wants when he wants it, and he also takes out his frustration on me more than anyone else. He bit me the other day, and quite often hits me. The biting I think was just him experimenting but it really surprised me. The hitting I find a lot harder to deal with but try to just calmly hold his arms down and say no. It definitely pushes a button though, I can feel the stress rising as soon as he starts. I found a bit of a solution to it though, I now call it 'batting' - like a kitten bats at a ball - and this seems to help me not take it personally some how. I have no idea why, but thought I'd share it just in case

Happy Birthday Peachy - lovely to hear the smaller school is working out so well

EllieG · 10/07/2009 09:28

Glad is not just mine who is being a stroppy little madam expressing herself - DH said this morning, 'She cries all the time now doesn't she?' which is not fair, but she is more frustrated than she used to be, and we get BIG tantrums when something doesn't go her way. I guess is normal though...

Scorps · 10/07/2009 10:34

Mimi hasn't had any tantrums

Thinking about taking mimi out of nursery, i dont really need her to go, am just lazy....but thing that is topping it off for me is deputy manager is on maternity & manager is leaving in a month. The only staff i know very well are in the big room for 3+. The only time i want her to go to nursery is when i go to baby club in January with dc4 Dexter (Thursday, 1-3) and did think that they have a nursery there, so that may be the way forward...plus its £2.50 p/h not £7! What do you think? I'm happy and healthy in pregnancy too, so dont need much rest, plus ds2 and ds1 are FT school come September. I don't know. DH doesn't like her going as it is. I would put her back in a bout a years time, when she can talk and enjoy it all iyswim?

Also, scan in 4 weeks - gender, yes or no? always have before but am really considerung a suprise this time.

Cloth is working fabbby here, i love it! Great big cloth bum.

SuzeMcG · 10/07/2009 14:44

Scorpio, you might want Mimi to go to nursery when you have the new baby, even for the first few weeks?

I can't get Emilia to take a final bottle in the evening (she drinks one bottle of Aptamil toddler milk in the morning), I am sure if she would drink that she'd sleep better. She was up at 4 again this morning. This is not good! She won't eat lunch at nursery so she is probably hungry. She eats afternoon tea there at about 4 and then dinner at home at 6. I am dreading going back to work now.

Scorps · 10/07/2009 14:55

Suze that sounds tough, sorry i don't really know what to suggest. Would she prefer a packed lunch - finger sarnies, raisins? I know at nursery they try to spoon feed mimi and she has none of it

I normally cope fine in the early weeks, DH will be here for 2 weeks PN anyway, and she does actually only go for 4 hours which is no time at all. I'm always quick up on my feet too after births. It's not the money im worried about, just the staff and whats best for mimi/me/family.

bunnyrabbit · 10/07/2009 15:17

Suze, what time does the go to bed?

SuzeMcG · 10/07/2009 15:35

Scorpio, if you are not happy with the staff changing and you feel you can manage, maybe take her out.

Good idea re packed lunch, I will ask the staff when I go to collect her.

BR, she eats from 6-6.30, has a bath and a play and then goes to bed at 7.15/7.30. I tried keeping her up until 8 and giving her milk then but she still won't take it. I give her milk when she wakes in the night because I am afraid she won't go back to sleep without it. She doesn't wake every night so don't think it is habit.

Heeeeeelllllp

SuzeMcG · 10/07/2009 15:37

P.S. I have also tried giving her dinner earlier to see if she will have milk before bed but that doesn't work either.

bunnyrabbit · 10/07/2009 15:40

Sorry to seem nosey, but waht does she have for dinner? And what does she drink with dinner?

SuzeMcG · 10/07/2009 15:52

Not nosey at all. She has things like fish pie/cottage pie/shepherd's pie (it has to be mushy), then a yoghurt, an Ella's smoothie, a mound of grated cheese (she loves this), then breadsticks and philadelphia, or toast and hoummus. She drinks water with her food. She is a bit of a picker but I try to get a range into her.

bunnyrabbit · 10/07/2009 16:12

Just an idea, but try upping the carb content of her last meal... I seem to remember that from somewhere but can't remember where.

Is it worth giving her milk with her food if she won't take it after? To be honest I give DS2 a cup of milk but I'm not bothered wehter he drinks it or not but I have started to give him a little snack (my sister gives her DS supper) when I give DS2 a snack before bedtime.

BR
