Here's a nice new thread for us to share our experiences with our new LOs.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

detsy- i'm sure the vibrate thing is fine, otherwise it wouldn't pass safety tests and stuff. As for lying upright (or angled), if DS2 falls asleep in his car seat, we leave him in it, even if its for 2 hours. I figure that if we were driving he'd be in it, and in the house, at least we can check on him.

blotted Sorry. Just reread the post. Very cryptic. It's not things of beauty, 5 things you were coveting. A bag, a print for ds's bedroom, a bracelet (Links of London? Lovely I want one too), a Magimix (make sure you do a search on here before you invest) and naked can't remember who Christian Slater?

Blottedcopybook · 08/06/2009 22:21

Ahahahaaha well THAT makes sense!! My naked man dream is Rob Lowe. Hubba hubba, I'd do him until the council came and lifted me off. Yummm....

Jennster · 08/06/2009 22:34

He's the one. Couldn't find it on your blog to check . Off to bed. Have a good book to finish. Been reading it for ages. More than a thousand pages.

FiKelly · 08/06/2009 23:07

dd woke for her next feed at 8pm and carried on munching on and off through ashes to ashes.. then did a big poo. have been trying to get her to sleep since and have popped her into bouncy chair for a shoulder break.. she now has hiccups again! really hoping she still settles in the chair despite them as i really want to just snuggle into my duvet and get some sleep.

FiKelly · 08/06/2009 23:10

at least i've figured out she's not hungry atm as she's not remotely interested in my boobs for a change

FiKelly · 08/06/2009 23:12

detsy · 08/06/2009 23:13

oh blotted agree about mr lowe (and have the bracelet) good covet choices girl!

pula Arch has same startle reflex and wriggles arms out then complains about them flailing about. he settles much better if hes wrapped tightly and tilted a little to one side but i worry about overheating when i wrap hm tightly. bad typing - 1 hand sunngling with the other. thanks for eassurance on chair issue - you are of couse sensible and right!

right boob still v sore toward my underarm - assume its mastitis or blocked duct - feels hot to touch but no redness. feeling poo so back on my wonder homeo pills so hopee it helps

cup of roiboos then bodees for me and the blue little

detsy · 08/06/2009 23:17

A zonked out on my knee, all ready for bed but will zoom to full wakefulness when i move him upstairs.

So fi will you let her sleep in the chair?

Momino · 08/06/2009 23:46

evening all. just got home from a bookclub night (just one glass of wine tonight and I hadn't read the book ) to an unsettled baby (poor DH rocked her all evening)who's now feeding. she seems a bit congested so maybe has a cold?

ses, saw C tonight and we exclaimed again how ironic/cool/great it was that you and i have known each other on MN all this time that she's been talking to me about her 'really close friend down south who's due date was similar to mine...'

detsy, hope it's not mastitis and hope the little pills work. ouch.

i also can't stop eating. mainly sweet carbs. i had 3 (yes, t-h-r-e-e) yum yums from Thomas'. all lard they are.

vibrating chair, used one for DD2 but was only borrowed so don't have it now. I really wish we did and will look for a 2nd hand one as I think it would really soothe Harper.

ok. might watch ashes to ashes on iplayer unless I fall asleep first.

FiKelly · 09/06/2009 03:18

detsy grace did fall asleep in the chair.. i got a drink and snack then as she seemed V zonked i decided to go for it and move her to the crib.. she didn't stir and has only just woken/started her next feed

FiKelly · 09/06/2009 04:03

improvement from last 2 nights.. grace all fed, winded etc settled asleep again in her crib. hoping she'll sleep a few hours..

runningmonkey · 09/06/2009 06:19

Hi all
Just popping in to say hi now i have a lo i dont feel like a fraud being on thread am sitting with phone in one hand and a sleepy babe in other. Am finding it a bit hard at the mo as bf on demand seems to mean 20 mind every hr and then A won't sleep in Moses basket or pram so either dh or i have to stay awake holding her. Am presuming this is normal for a 4 day old!

Also not had much in the way of poo since yesterday but am presuming normal too as she has done some massive ones already so must have emptied out her system now. Hoping all the milk might take effect soon

Sorry me post there am going to read back to see what's up with everyone

X x

Tummum · 09/06/2009 06:34

Morning all. I do like summer babies, so when I am up at stupid hour at least it is bright and I can hear bird song . G woke up at 5.30 ish and it's now not worth going back to sleep!

Detsy sounds like blocked duct to me. I have had a couple. Important to get it sorted as it can lead to mastitis. What works for me is making sure G feeds off that boob, massaging while feeding & massaging in a hot shower. This tends to shift it within 24 hours or so. Also ibuprofen helps the soreness.

Fi glad G a bit more settled. Hope your night went better too.

Monimo v. impressed you ventured to the outside world without H.

Jenn and Blotted Mr Lowe... Mmmmmm

Running unfortunately, all sounds exactly right for a 4 day old. G hadn't done a poo in 4 days but HV told me it is practically impossible for a BF baby to get constipated, BM is so good there is hardly any waste.

Tummum · 09/06/2009 06:36

God I'm hungry. I could murder a kitkat. Or some lemon drizzle cake. Or (getting desperate now) custard cream biscuits. Sigh.

Jennster · 09/06/2009 08:46

Tummum Have some of my lemon drizzle. I made it yesterday, inbetween teasing.

Jennster · 09/06/2009 08:47

I don't know why but I am ravenous most of the time. I've just had a massive bowl of muesli and I'm still hungry. I'm going to eat myself out of house and home.

Jennster · 09/06/2009 08:50

Going to have a large glass of water and see if that helps. Hope everybody well.

R slept from 8pm until 2am! Swaddled. Leaky nappy this morning.

Anybody with a large toddler in reusable nappies? Can you recommend a nappy that fits? DS is too big for OneLife and size2 Bamboozle. He will be 2 next month, and nearly ready to train, but will be in them at night for ages so worth while buying them I think.

Febes · 09/06/2009 09:25

Morning. It's my first day on my own today and so far so good. I had a really crap nights sleep though. R is asleep now though so it's a bit easier coping with DD on her own for the morning.

I'm so happy everyone has had their LOs now. What a big thread!! I wonder how Dandy is going I hope she is ok and lurking if so- Hi!!!!!

Sausage Your birth story sounds similar to mine. I too am extremely slow at dilating (both times ) How horrible that M wasn't with you when you woke. It's sounds like she is grand now though!!

Oh no DD has just come in with my sunglasses in her mouth I better go.

frazzledoldbag · 09/06/2009 09:56

Hello ladies, have just been whinging on the antenatal thread so won't repeat myself here.
detsy - think I've got the same bouncy chair as you - blue with a pattern on that vibrates and plays music when they kick the foot bit? Mine has run out of batteries in the vibrate bit so haven't had it on but used it a lot for DD2 who was impossible to settle and she liked it. I know what you mean though about jiggling brains - but it didn't do her any harm. Well I don't think so anyway. Must buy more batteries anyway. Oh and keep massaging that sore bit - even though it hurts to massage do it quite hard and keep feeding (am sure you know all this already tho).
Had a reasonable night - bed at 11.30 ish, then H woke up at 3am, settled again by 4.30am then woke up at 7.30am. Feel quite human this morning as a result. Not dressed yet though - can't be bothered!
Bad news is I have to do some work emails today to follow up to the meeting I had last week (at home while baby H slept throughout for 1.5 hours - very impressed with him!) But again, like getting dressed I can't be bothered thinking about facts and figures. Would rather drink tea and watch The Wright Stuff.
Loving the image of blotted having to be lifted off Rob Lowe by the council. Cheered me up no end!

Reggiee · 09/06/2009 09:59

Hi all. Just lurking really. Not much to say so don't post, but had to come on when I saw MOMINO had eaten Yumyum's from Thomas;s. I love Thomas's!!

TONGUE TIE not sure I came bak to say the specialist decided not to cut B's tie as she said it was only minor and wouldn't affect his speech. Am sure she didn't because by the time we got the appointment (which moved twice) I'd had enouogh and switched to bottle.

runningmonkey · 09/06/2009 11:07

Thanks TUM thought so!

Think my milk is in now as boobs mahoosive only downside is it's v hard to get A latched on and am getting sore

On the plus side just came downstairs and dh was singing take that songs to A... His coolness is definitely over now he's a dad!

Hi to everyone else not had time to read thro posts yet

Momino · 09/06/2009 11:36

Reggiee, I've got a weakness for yumyums! Tesco bakery do a similar thing but not nearly as good at Thomas's.

not too bad a night - after her 11pm heed Harper woke only at 4am for a 15 min feed then slept until 7. so i'm fairly awake today.

MIL here with dd1&2 at the park. It's nice to have a bit of a break but MIL drives me mad (she's nice but we're very different so personalities clash) so I'm glad they're out of the house.

I'm going to try to use the time to do my US tax return form due in a few days. seems crazy to have to fill out this form when I've been paying UK taxes for nearly 12 years and don't even need to pay the US govt anything. emmabsmom, do you have to file?

have we all moved to this thread then ?

Momino · 09/06/2009 11:37

febes, good luck on your own. sounds like you're doing fab so far.

Jennster · 09/06/2009 11:56

momino Just googled yum yums. Yummy. I love a crispy fresh warm berliner with jam in the centre and granulated sugar on the outside. Non of your soggy glucose coated nonsense. Haven't had one of those in a long time. Mmmmmm.

God I'm hungry. Need to make a quick soup I think.
