Here's a nice new thread for us to share our experiences with our new LOs.

Sausage Wow. I'm not surprised you were a little emotional writing that. Well done on what sounds like a real marathon, and managing to Bf after all that too. I'd like to see a birth story that isn't Me me me!

pulapula · 08/06/2009 14:35

momino-

glad your washing machine is fixed. i am finding i have lots more washing now with the extra LO.

My day is going well so far. PIL came and took older DCs out for the morning and we took S for his hearing test which he passed

He slept through the test and was still asleep when we returned which gave me chance to phone my car insurance company who are happy for me to drive if my HV is happy (she said it was OK to drive if i was confident i could do an emergency stop which i am ).

And DH woke and said his eye was improving, and my mastitis is getting better too so we are much more normal today.

sausagen, wow what a BS. funny, i could relate to some of it like thinking you needed a poo in the beginning then realising you're in labour (!). scary for the rest of the story. i'm so glad M is ok and hope you're feeling better.

Momino · 08/06/2009 14:37

pula, sounds like everything going better for you . what a relief!

pulapula · 08/06/2009 14:39

Sausage- just read your birth story. I can't imagine what it was like to wake up and wonder how your little girl was, and have to wait until your DP arrived to find out. I've seen your photos and she really is beautiful.

Afernoon everyone,

sausage It was nice to read your birth story. You must have been exhausted and worried sick about M to top it all. Glad you're both OK now though.

blotted hope your bleeding settles soon and that everything is ok.

momino great new about your washing machine.

bedtimes C just sleeps on my lap/shoulder until I go to bed. I'm slowly thinking about putting her in her pram after her 7-8pm feed (she's a bit irregular). She does consistently sleep well in her crib from 10.30-11 until 3ish lately which is great. I can't remember who mentioned a grobag, but I'm convinced it's the grobag that's making the difference. I used them (and introduced them to all my friends!) with my other 2. They're brilliant, because lo stays warm during the feed and doesn't go back to a cold bed when you put them back after a feed, so they don't wake up.

I'm also v. proud that I managed the morning school run today and got there in time, early even!

Right, off to do the afternoon school run.

Belgianchocolates · 08/06/2009 15:02

DH left me a happy anniversary card today when he left for work I was there when he was drinking, so I should have prodded him a bit earlier to leave and go for our meal, so it's a little bit my own fault too that he was nearly falling asleep at the table.

pulapula · 08/06/2009 15:41

I have some grobags but tend to swaddle LO (although he does wriggle his arms out a lot) but might try a grobag to see if that helps. He does have a strong startle reflex but sometimes i wonder if swaddling makes them more likely to wake when they startle as they aren't so used to it. Might try an experiment. I swaddled DD til 4-5 months and DS1 til 8-9 months so find it strange not to do it! Also, I tend to cuddle DS2 in bed, and he gets quite warm, so not sure if a grobag would be too hot? When i wriggled free last night at 11, he was awake at 12 .

Jennster I read your post to me and I don't understand it

Belgianchocolates · 08/06/2009 16:17

blotted I think she was talking about your bleeding and you taking it easy today to help it settle?

Oh dear, I think I'm turning into a cloth nappy addict. I've got far more than needed and yet I keep eyeing up even cuter ones. First I bought this cute blueberry one and now I've bought this Itty bitti D'lish one too to try. And I keep discovering more and more cute nappies too. So now I need to stay away from eBay and nappy websites or I'll definitely go bankrupt

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 08/06/2009 17:27

We're home!!!!!!

I can catergorically state that Jaundice causes the most startling and unpleasant nappies ever. One will be almost fluourescent yellow, the next will be vibrant orange, the next will look just like melted chocolate. And my God, the smell.........DH has (rather fortunately) been on hand for the majority of these

Belgian she was indeed one the Biliblanket that sits in the back of her clothes - so cool, it glowed and she got loads of attention.

I haven't managed to upload any photos anywhere yet but will today maybe later. Oh, and she's Sophia by the way (possibly Sophia Isabel but my name is Isabel and it strikes me as a little egotistical, even though it's in memory of my maternal grandmother after whom I'm named and DH's nan) (did that sentence make any sense?).

She's a jolly good feeder but boobs are seriously engorged and ouchie today, so have dragged out the breastpump and managed 50ml in 5 mins, they're still a bit painful.

I'm going to post my birth story later - nowhere near what I planned.

She's shouting 'andlaa andlaa andlaa' which is exactly what DD2 shouted when she was hungry as a baby.

Catch you all later!

pulapula · 08/06/2009 18:27

Great to hear you're home grumpy. I hope things will continue to go well with all of you from now on. I know what you mean about the middle name. I wanted my grandma's name as a middle name for C, but it's also my sil's name, so I ended up changing my mind. Maybe next time?

FiKelly · 08/06/2009 19:47

grumpy glad to hear you're home :-) and lol at your dh & the vile nappies

after grace waking up at 2am and feeding on and off till 5am for the last two nights i'm knackrd despite doing the feeds lying down.. she got v windy, unsettled and kept filling her nappy which meant me getting out of bed like a yoyo. i too think i'm mistaking her cues and creating a viscous circle. decided to try new tactic today and wake grace for more frequent feeds during day.. hoping she'll then sleep longer between feeds tonight. worth a shot as i'd prefer her to do her 4/5 hrs between feeds at night rather than the daytime..

Blottedcopybook · 08/06/2009 19:52

Fi I hate to be a naysayer but that possibly won't make a difference - babies feed more in the evening because that's when we produce more prolactin and thus better quality milk. Give it a shot anyway - I suppose nothing ventured nothing gained?

Belgian - the Moby arrived today, thank you!

Tummum · 08/06/2009 19:58

Grumpy great to hear from you. Hope you have a good first night home.

FiK My strategy with G has been to wake him every couple of hours, and it seems to have helped him distinguish between day and night. Hope the strategy works for you too.

It's so exciting to see the list all together. Doesn't seem like 2 minutes ago we were all pregnant and now I can't remember what it was like before G was here.

I am totally knackered this evening because last night DH decided it would be a good idea to do the money/finances stuff starting at 10pm Why do men always start this stuff at stupid-o-clock ?! Also, my diet-proper has started today. I have a wedding to go to next month and tried to buy some jeans today, hoping I would be a size lower than I actually am. So no biscuits / sweets / crisps / cakes / chocolate today, for the first time in a long time. The true test is this evening, as this is the time of night I start to graze because I am cream crackered.

Belgianchocolates · 08/06/2009 20:24

Tummum I wish you lots of strength to stay away from yummy chocolate, crisps, etc... I tell myself to do this every day, but I'm weak and always end up caving in by mid afternoon.

Right, C fed about 45min ago and is now on my lap rooting away, head bobbing up and down my arm trying to latch on. She's either tired or still hungry. I better go and see if I can settle her before ashes to ashes starts!

detsy · 08/06/2009 21:16

Hi mummies - both children asleep at moment woo hoo so time for quick catch up.

Lotti seemed to enjoy her unplanned train adventure but promptly threw up all over me on her return. So much for virgin trains cake lunch courtesy of DP... Hoping and praying it was a one off (the chucking as well as the train adventure!!) She's fast asleep, knackered and had a good tea so think she just got overheated and ate too much crap, maybe??! Fingers crossed!

Watching that thing on itv about kids that don't sleep - god we're so so lucky on this thread!

Now bad mummy alert - Archie settles really well and loves his bouncy chair (esp with the vibrate on) so when we are downstairs he spends a fair bit of time in it. I keep getting paranoid that the vibrate is joggling his brain but as soon as I turn it off he wakes up and whinges... Anyone else using one of these are all you all being very good and lying your babies flat all the time? He is pretty flat in it obviously just at a bit of an angle which helps with his posseting as well.

belg glad I'm not the only nutter already considering the next one DP is freaked out and says no way and hes off for the chop but doubt it v much myself!

Right I'm off to retrieve my chicken kiev tea and a beer....yum scrum Hope all are good this evening and littles are settled and happy (Oh A pooed several times today - am much relieved as am sure he is too)

FiKelly · 08/06/2009 21:17

blotted i'm fully expecting to be up feeding sometime between 1am and 5am i'm just hoping to just do one decent long feed rather than the 3hr sessions of feeding pooing and winding that make me so tired i can't function.. isn't the prolactin supposed to help with sleep too

tummum if it helps grace get the day/night thing i'd be quite happy with that too

detsy · 08/06/2009 21:17

Oh I NEED some green and blacks choc - sorry tummum. Just need some - no chance tho as home alone and waitrose is closed...

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 08/06/2009 21:18

Sorry, not caught up today.

DS is having his tongue tie snipped tomorrow afternoon. I really hope it does the trick as my nipples are getting really sore again as he's constantly hungry and keeps slipping off the breast and nipple feeding. Frustrating for both of us. I've just smothered myself in Lasinoh and I've just about got through one tube in the 4 weeks since he was born.

Sophietom - congrats

Grumpy - yay for being home!

Momino - glad your washing machine is fixed.

Llare - was it you with the Babasling? I have one too. DS often sleeps quite well in it in the morning for an hour or so but I'm not convinced I havge it positioned the best. I think you're meant to have the label on your collar bone but it keeps slipping down.

We're having our new boiler fitted at the moment. Should be finished tomorrow but means v limited hot water...

detsy · 08/06/2009 21:19

And... how have that young couple got that fab fab house??? moi??

FiKelly · 08/06/2009 21:26

detsy we got round to putting ds's bouncy chair together last night. seems to be helping with grace's posseting and general grizzlyness. she too seems to like the vibrate setting which gives my shoulder a break for a while

Tummum · 08/06/2009 21:30

Mmmmmmmm Green and Blacks choccie... and beer Mmmmmm.

Would be perfect accompanyment to Britains next top model. (Did I just admit in public that I watch utter rubbish?!)

detsy · 08/06/2009 21:40

Fi oh good on you - pleased its not just me!

Love her name BTW - its charlotte's middle name

Has anyone been through the list and checked if everyone got what they were expecting - so for those who found out sex of babies there were no surprises? And those who didn't did they get what they thought?? I still asked when Arch was born and no one had thought to check but he is def a boy

Don't know whats wrong with me tonight but i can't stop eating - off to raid the fridge again - think there are some strawbs and some posh ice cream

Boobs are hurting think I've over expressed and upped production too much. Just emptied and still painful - viscious (sp?) circle
