Just popping in to mark the page in this new episode of our adventures.

Boff, I'm sure you are wise enough to know when you need help and what form that should take. The plants was a lovely idea, but I don't think any of us is really up to much gardening in the coming days/weeks. Get someone in to do it if you can.
And go for the sandwich suppers idea, sounds great.

Am trying to get osteopath appt for Alex because his digestion is really bothering him/ He soldiers on for ages, writhing and grunting, but he often ends up crying with the discomfort.
At 2am he shot puke down the front of my t-shirt, where it pooled in my bra.

DH has gone manic, decided to declutter and rearrange the house, which in theory is A Good Thing, because he is messy, but in fact is v stressful as he keeps going on about what a mess it is. Poor DS had to 'give away' lots of toys yesterday (DH actually binned them). He does have too many, but I was going to wait till he'd got over Alex's arrival before undertaking any rash actions.

Got to go...

BabyBolat · 18/05/2009 09:33

As we're on advice, Kara really strains when he needs to poo and is clearly in a lot of pain - burping is fine - any ideas?

AUld - wow look at DH nesting, Poor DS though was he ok about the toy thing?

Ginger yay for sleep, K slept in our bed last night from 4 - me and DH were curled up in this tiny space on one side while this little 6 week old had over half the king-sized bed!

BB, not sure about DS. I think we are being too strict with him. He's been playing up a lot and getting told off a lot. He seems to be v stressed, sucking his thumb loads (and then getting told off fot talking w it in his mouth) and kind of tugging at his clothes. He's also begun talking in a nasal babyish voice, which is partly imitation of our neighbour's daughter and partly, IMO, a form of regression due to the anxiety caused by Alex's arrival.
DH's nesting was awful, he kept ranting about how much stuff we have, has put loads of kitchen stuff on top of the dresser where I can't reach it and our garage is now full of boxes. I have been really tense since the weekend, think the pressure he's under re work is getting to him and making him ratty.

Morning!

Boff - lots of hugs coming your way. Two friends of mine had PND. With one of them it took months until she admitted to herself that she needed help / to talk to someone about it so I agree with what the others have said, it's good that you recognise the signs and can do something about it if need be. That's the first step towards getting better. FWIW I had several months of counselling back at uni and it was brilliant but it depends very much on the counsellor and in Germany they match you up very well. Don't know about here.

Puzzle - LOL at hooter hider thread!

Ginger - I kicked DH out of our bed too and told him to sleep on the sofa bed in our living room. We all sleep better for it - especially him of course

BB - no idea about the pooing but I read somewhere that if they have trouble passing wind, you can hold them against your chest with your hand under their bum so they have something to press against? Might work?

It's my first day with just Hazel today. So far it's going swimmingly although I had to interrupt my shower / getting dressed several times to calm her down. She's now snoozing away on my lap, listening to the radio.

I can't believe some of these April babies are already 6 weeks old! That's the magic mark when everything is supposed to get easier... not true though is it?

Schulte · 18/05/2009 10:03

Auld - DD1 has also been playing up a bit and she gets told off much more than before Hazel arrived. In fact sometimes I feel like the only interaction I have with her is telling her off for something. Feeling quite about it. Yesterday she drew lines on the wall with a crayon, knowing full well we wouldn't appreciate it. We try to give her lots of attention but I still feel sorry for her because I've always got this baby attached to me. She also seems to have a sixth sense for when Hazel feeds in the early morning, this morning she came into my bed at 5.30 just as I was in the middle of a feed. I ended up with her snuggled up against my side, and Hazel lying on top of me, and that's when I thought, this is what being a mum of 2 is all about

PuzzleRocks · 18/05/2009 10:06

I'm not talking to you Schulte. How dare you be back in your jeans.

:-P

Schulte · 18/05/2009 10:20

Has anyone else heard this... DH tells me people are now organising swine flu parties (a bit like chicken pox parties) to boost their immunity ready for the next 'proper' flu outbreak???

Juwesm · 18/05/2009 10:28

Good morning all.

Today I feel like a Good Mummy, purely because H is in a nice colourful sleepsuit with a picture on instead of one of his plain white ones! The new 0-3month ones are a perfect length, but massively baggy widthways for my skinny little beanpole!

Boff - hugs'n'support winging their way up to Cambridge. Nothing really to add to the advice of these good ladies, other than ensuring SirBoffinDad is keeping a good close eye on you. Is there anyone else in RL you could confide in? Just because it may be easier for someone 'outside' to spot any worsening/ warning signs, which may go unnoticed when you are actually living them. IYSWIM.

BB - Very jealous of your lovely Bloom. My buddy with the Xplory also has one (white and pink for her wee lass), and I covet it. Hurrah for lovely day of normality. And will do awards immediately- I started, honest, and then I forgot got distracted by the baby.

Boff - also jealous of your TrippTrapp. Is it comfortable though? Since ordering the buggy I now want everything from the Stokke website.

Ginger - I think definitely the right thing to boot DH out when he's been drinking. There is a lot of scaremongering about co-sleeping, but (semi) inebriated parent is a fairly obvious, easily removed risk. I have considered decanting myself and H to spare room to give me more PofM.

Juwesm · 18/05/2009 10:32

Ah, BB, re: Kara's straining. Constipation unlikely as bf, but read somewhere (as you do) that sometimes they can't get the hang of relaxing their little sphincter, and the GP can pop a digit up there to dilate it, and after this it is easier for them to do it themselves.

Schulte · 18/05/2009 10:51

Ju, another Tripp Trapp fan here. DD1 has always been very happy in it since we started using it at around 7-8 months old. It grows with her and she's been able to climb in and out by herself for months now. Also it's not as horrendously ugly as most highchairs I have seen. In fact I think it's quite a stylish piece of furniture.

Schulte · 18/05/2009 10:52

Anyone else wondering what's happened to LuLu?

Schulte · 18/05/2009 10:53

And JennyPenny?

BofftheToff · 18/05/2009 10:55

I was only woken up at 2 and 5 last night, so not quite so miserable today. I also fitted into a pre-pg skirt after a fashion, so this has helped with morale.

Schulte, counsellors here have a pretty variable reputation at best, and can be quite dreadful. There is a fundamentalist counselling wing in my faculty, teaching diplomas in it, and I have to say I would not go to any of them with my problems. Seriously. We call them the Bearded Ones. And that's just the women.

BB, just to contradict Nutty bf babies don't really need water or juice, they all strain like mad when pooing IME (Felix certainly just did this in a most impressive manner - I am truly surprised you didn't hear him down Sarf). FF babies are different and sometimes do need extra non milk drinks when it gets hot. But if you want to give something, you can get little sterile bottles of water with a tiny little bit of juice in, just for babies, from most supermarkets, and you just screw one of your sterilised teats on top. I'd recommend one of those.

BofftheToff · 18/05/2009 11:02

Juwes, the Tripp Trapp has been brilliant. I got one in Germany after my friend got one for each of her three boys. It started life as a baby highchair with its own little table, then we used it as a chair for a LO to sit up at table with us, and finally it became an adult/child desk chair by swapping the seat and foot rests over. It is supremely comfortable and looks good with all kinds of furniture, even our antique/vintage stuff. Our is still going strong after 11 years' daily use, and will now be revarnished and reassembled as a baby high chair in honour of Felix.

conkertree · 18/05/2009 11:10

hi - just posting to say hello - keep thinking I will have time to catch up and never do, so if I dont just post, I will end up never coming on at all.

I just read a couple of messages and Schulte - I am the same with ds1 - am trying really really hard not to get cross at him when he seems to be trying to be as naughty as he can when feeding ds2 as I reckon he will realise he gets a rise out of me that way - trying to distract him by getting him to do jigsaws or bring me books to read him etc but doesnt always work.

ds1 is off with pil and ds2 is asleep so I will attempt to catch up a bit before ds2 needs more milk.

surprisenumber3 · 18/05/2009 11:17

Found ya! - I had a baby April 09 too and am feeling sleep deprived.....zzzzzzzzzz

Am totally shattered, E sleeping well but I keep checking on her and waking with a start! My boobs have started being as leaky as they were when my milk first came in. They're driving me mad, soaking through everything!

HV coming today - not even had E's length measured yet and she's 3 weeks old - is that normal?

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 18/05/2009 11:33

Helloo you yummy mummies! am i allowed in? i popped a munchkin out in april too

I've got to apologise for not being on here for ages, seem to never have a minute to myself yet nothing gets done? is this normal?! Olliepops is 3weeks old today, and DP has gone back to work so i'm all alone, with a baby, arrrghhh!

surprise my boobs are the same, they do not know when to stop!

felt really poorly this morning and have been majorly teary last couple of days, i didnt have any baby blues after ollie was born so could it be kicking in now? seems a bit late?

hope everyone and their little bundles are okay

ooh few questions, do we have a facebook group? and how long are we supposed to wait before having sex again? baring in mind i had stitches cos of 2nd degree tear? x

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 18/05/2009 11:34

wooops i need a name change, dont know what to have!?!?!

conkertree · 18/05/2009 11:36

I really fancied the Tripp Trapp before ds1 was born but couldnt really afford it, and then ended trying out loads at others people's houses etc and buying an Ikea 14.99 high chair cause he loved it when we went there once - has been brilliant - he's very comfy in it and its really easy to clean etc - but granted it doesnt look nearly as nice as the tripp trapp or bb's one.

surprise - ds2 wasnt measured at birth either or since - dont know if they have stopped doing it here or what.

ginger - have had similar nights of puke all over me but not moving as its so good to get Angus to sleep. He's not a bad sleeper really but I think I am less patient this time in the middle of the night cause ds1 is such a bad sleeper - 21 months of no full nights sleep before ds2 came along. maybe 21 months age gap was a stupid idea.

conkertree · 18/05/2009 11:42

Lauren - I've been really teary too but have been ever since the birth apart from a couple of days where I felt great. Dont really know what normal is - but I reckon we still have loads of hormones coursing around so hopefully will balance out soon.

Boff - great that you got a good sleep - I remember with ds1 some nights were so bad, I ended up hallucinating cause i was so short of sleep. hope mrboff can help out at nights when feeds arent required.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 18/05/2009 11:42

umm hello,
i had a baby in april. may i join your group?

HELLO!!!

sorry not been around much. this whole parenting malarky takes up WAY too much time!

all is well here. Isla is growing like a weed (too fast IMO, can't she just stay little for a bit longer??)

there are torrential downpours here today. I told DS that we would go try to buy him some sunglasses (though we never see the sun!) and it's just so wet out there!

i came on here to attempt to catch up then got caught in the tim dowling is a twat thread. V V funny. highly recommend it!

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 18/05/2009 11:45
