Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

HAHAHAHA would be cropped on you then, thought you were a shortass like me

DjangoTheDjinn · 30/07/2009 21:14

Beau is beautiful.

I won't link.

Kinky

AprilMeadow · 30/07/2009 21:21

need to hunt out camera cable and then will up load what i have

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/07/2009 08:18

Blimey, you ladies are on the ball this morning. Haven't you got some ironing or something to do?

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/07/2009 08:30

Congrats Tills on your boy. I rather like the name Jem, perhaps because there was one at school that I sort of had a secret thing for. Isn't it you who like the name Barnaby? I can't recommend it enough

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 08:30

Ironing? Is that kiswahili for waking at 5am with snotty child and idly MNing while she trashes the place? We're at my parents' house acksherly and she's baking with my Mum. DH still asleep...

Tillyscoutsmum · 31/07/2009 08:54

We've got a snotty 5 am waker here as well

TMAM - yes, I love Barnaby as well. I suspect Til would have been one had she been a girl. Just not sure Tilly and Barney are too many "ey" sounds iyswim ?

Once we've got over the shock of it being a boy, we'll sort out a long shortlist and get some opinions

Had a little look at the pics on FB and you all look beautiful and the dc's are adorable

Tillyscoutsmum · 31/07/2009 08:55

had she been a boy .... obviously And for a horrible moment there, I thought I had confessed to having a snooty 5am wanker here

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 09:04

Barns is the greatest nickname. Tilly and Barns sounds wonderful. I better not have a boy ever, we'd have identically named children I fear! Maybe I'll name my male kune Barns instead.

largeginandtonic · 31/07/2009 09:12

5am i wish...try 1am, then 1.20, then 2, then 2.20. You get the picture. Blubell miserable, mummy is too.

We do all look pretty good i think. Lovely pictures.

Barnaby and Tilly sound very cute.

Right must get the first lot of washing on, bleurgh.

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 09:17

Oh 5am is when I gave up and brought the snivelly cough machine downstairs. She was up most of the night. Not really complaining tbh as she's usually quite good, just poorly.

Those pictures are brill, apart from my inclusion in them obviously.

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 09:20

"I am not a martyr, I'm a scooter, going on a trip round the world, scoot scoot scoot". Out of the mouth of sleep deprived babes. How is she so chipper on this little sleep?

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/07/2009 09:55

She has a great teacher. You have slightly more interesting conversations than I have with J. Planes, propellers, Thomas Cook and Concorde. Yesterday we went to the air museum at the Fleet Air Arm navy base. The boy was in seventh heaven.

lol at the 5am wanker

My dad and my bil went out for a quick pint at 9.30pm last night and rolled back at about 1.30am They said it was one of the friendliest places they had ever been. Can you imagine the scene, one sixty year old bald Glaswegian, one rotund 40 something Mancunian and several old yokels who can't talk right my lovely.

And someone called me sweetheart in the petrol station. He was about 14. It's a funny old place Somerset.

AprilMeadow · 31/07/2009 10:03

Pics on FB ladies!!

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 10:05

Sommer-seeerrrt. Beautiful place. Young boys in petrol stations here say 'alroight moi luv' and you are forced to slap them with a family sized bag of kettle chips.

DS2 was charming. Told me all about the plane that flew at night and was Thomas Cooke and had lights on in it and the animals he has seen where he lives. He's a charmer. He'd love Duxford. DH certainly does.

MmeJaffaB · 31/07/2009 13:14

Have read, you lot are so funny!

woo on the boy, Tils, great!

Am manic today, off out to a party tonight and then have a wedding tomorrow that I am massively involved in organising, will be a long day but looking forward to it. Trying to get everything ready and bags backed before tonight..... if i can get my addicted arse off fb.

lg&t, chop it all off like mine! Goooo on!!!

Will do pics after the weekend, Oh I have some up close corkers!!

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 15:14

Well considering DH only taught me to swim a couple of years ago, I'll probably drown. And drown angry at that.

Don't anger me. I will eviscerate you in fiction.

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/07/2009 18:58

oooo I quite like the idea of being eviscerated in fiction, sounds quite kinky.

largeginandtonic · 31/07/2009 20:03

Help me on my shoe thread here i must order tonight!

Oh and i got picked for the web series but turned it down, for now at least

Tillyscoutsmum · 31/07/2009 20:43

An eventful afternoon here - Tils ran off towards a busy road, I ran after her and fell over quite heavily on to bump. I'm a bit battered and bruised and feeling rather silly but think everything is ok. Am waiting for some flutterings for reassurance .....

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 20:56

Oh Tills. Baby boy will be fine. He's very, very, very well protected. Be careful, you may ache a lot tomorrow. How horrid for you. Be kind to yourself and fgs don't feel silly.

LG&T have schleped across to your style and beauty thread, been facetious I suspect and offered no advice. Well style for goodness' sake, what did you expect? My default is 'have you considered tie-dyeing it?'

Tillyscoutsmum · 31/07/2009 21:03

Thanks The bruising is already coming out and I have gravel burns on my boobs . I've been a bit emotional - worrying about what could have happened to Tils more than anything else I suppose. I was daft to run after her because she always runs away thinking its a game for me to chase her but I just saw her heading toward the road and a car coming and instinct took over. I'd make a shit hurdler though

How the hell do you teach road sense to a 2 year old who seems to have absolutely no sense of danger ?!

DjangoTheDjinn · 31/07/2009 21:06

Take her to the park. Practise shouting to stop and heaps of praise when she does it. Teach her stopping before she reaches things like a path or a clump of trees. Do it a lot. All the time. Wherever you're out. Big praise whenever she stops. Let her do it to you too.

largeginandtonic · 31/07/2009 21:08

Oh Tills rest alot and be kind to yourself. He will be just fine like SOH has said.

You can't is the simple answer, you can strap them down and repeat the rules over and over till it sinks in.

You poor thing.

Tillyscoutsmum · 31/07/2009 21:12

Will try the stop game - she just seems to ignore me though... I'm hoping it will just "click"

Thanks Gin... She is normally in buggy/holding hand but we were at a friend's house and one of the other mums had gone out the front door and left it open and before I realised the door was open, she was off....

Anyway - early night I think - its been a long day
