Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

That's good to hear, thanks SOH x

SKYTVADDICT · 25/08/2009 20:58

Hope R & L are getting better now.

Good to hear P on the mend.

Not been on much as not much to say but been lurking.

Going to Liverpool Thursday visiting relatives and sightseeing with boys on Thursday for a couple of nights so won't be around much again!

Off to tackle of huge pile or ironing.

I ironed for 2.5 hours last night but enjoyed it as I watched one of my favourite films - St Elmos Fire.

largeginandtonic · 25/08/2009 21:03

Hullo, she is on the couch vaguely watching Dante's Peak. They are all up still, no energy to pack them all off. I quite like the company really.

It was hellish, i had to carry her in to the theatre as she was so frightened. They had to gas her in the end as no one was getting near her to put a cannula in. Can't blame her really.

She came round fine though, just super sleepy. She is a fabululous little person, i am beaming with pride. A few tears have been shed in the quiet of the hosptial loos i can tell you.

Thank you to SOH for today Thanks to you lot too for all the kind thoughts. Jam she is geting her hair done tomorrow, hairdresser coming to the house. She is very excited. Will paint her nails too i think

Has anyone spoken to Pink? She called me at teatime and was upset about A as she was being sent on to hospital with a fever?! Think she was quite calm but i was distracted and not sure if i said the right things. I told her not to worry and was sure it was nothing and the hospital would just keep her under observation not necessarily do anything >

I don't want to call incase i interrupst something. Will send a text. If anyone did speak to her too can you text me. Thanks.

largeginandtonic · 25/08/2009 21:21

S'ok she is texting me now. AM text her and tell her to calm down

AbbyLou · 25/08/2009 21:23

LGT glad all went well for P. You and her are very brave!
Sorry I don't have your mobile number but I got a message from PJ on Facebook saying that she had taken L to OOH with a high temp and they tried to send her to hospital but she refused. This was just before 8pm. She said she thought hospital was an over reaction. She sounded very calm - well done PJ!

AbbyLou · 25/08/2009 21:24

Sorry, x-post!

AprilMeadow · 25/08/2009 21:30

LG&T I have spoken to Pink twice this afternoon and been texting. I hope i have been helping.....

Glad that all was ok with P. Please give her a big hug from us xx

Tillyscoutsmum · 25/08/2009 21:38

((((Gin and P))))) - sounds like a pretty trying day for you both but glad to hear you've both been so brave and P is on the mend

Hope everyone else is ok

largeginandtonic · 25/08/2009 21:48

Thank goodness AM

Thanks Abby

largeginandtonic · 25/08/2009 22:10

Thanks Tills

Abby how is R today?

AprilMeadow · 26/08/2009 08:37

Still here, still pg!! That means that i have now been pg longer with L than i was with E. Cant decide if i am or about that.....

I think i am going to be one big bag of fun today........ NOT

AbbyLou · 26/08/2009 08:48

AM that's a strnage one isn't it? C was 3 weeks early and I remember when I got to that stage with R I felt a bit cheesed off that she hadn't come early too. She was only 3 days early so I had a bit longer to wait!
LGT R seems a lot better today thank you. She had a really good sleep last night, as did we all, so hopefully she will feel better. Her temp has gone down and I think the sore throat has cleared too. She's not wincing every time she swallows now. She's still got a runny nose and a nasty cough but I think she's definitely on the mend. She's managed to eat a yoghurt and a bowl of grapes this morning so that's more than she's eaten the last two days!
Got the last bits of C's school uniform yesterday. How much? I got all the cheap bits like trousers and polo shirts from Asda and Tesco but still had to pay £10 for each sweatshirt from the uniform shop. His shoes were £34!!!! He looks so cute in it all. He wore uniform for Nursery for the last year but still it seems more real now it's for big school. I got him a lovely coat from Mothercare of all places. It even matches his school uniform as it is grey and red! He is so looking forward to going, I hope it lives up to his expectations. It will be strange to see him on the playground and in the hall at Assembly time. He's really good about that - he either ignores me or gives me a tiny wave!

AprilMeadow · 26/08/2009 09:04

So pleased to hear that R is on the mend.
I guess i am just annoyed that i had let myself think she would be early as well. When pg with E i assumed that she would be late like J so was shocked that she came when she did. I wish that I could just re-set my brain and forget that E was early and resign myself to being pg for at least another 3wks.

I havent got J to try on all his uniform together but do have it all and its all labelled. I think we went overboard at the parents evening and bought pretty much everything - 2 sweatshirts, 3 polo shirts, a fleece, pe top & shorts, hat, book bag, pe bag & drinks bottle. I think it came to £80 ot thereabouts. Trousers came from Mothercare (buy one get one half price) and also got 3 plain polos for back up. Shoes!! Yup about £30 odd, more than i spend on shoes for myself!!

JamInMyWellies · 26/08/2009 09:30

Thank goodness R is on the mend Abbey.

Anyone know how Lexie is this morning?

LG&T brave brave P. Am sure she will love having her hair done.

AM its good you are still preg L needs a couple more wks cooking. You must text me if she comes while I am on holiday.

Have had a friend to stay for the last couple of days she has a 4yr old so yesterday we took them all to the zoo. Lachlan screamed for 2 hours Archie whinged continously and her DS kept saying this is a bad idea. Bloody children should have just sent them to work up the chimneys.

2 more sleeps till we go to NY

AprilMeadow · 26/08/2009 09:45

LOL at your friends ds! How exciting 2 sleeps

I tried calling this morning but got voicemail, will try again

AbbyLou · 26/08/2009 09:53

Agree about the shoes AM, I can't remember the last time I spent £34 on a pair of shoes for me - still got R to get for yet. i'm hoping the sun will stay shining so she can wear her sandals for a bit longer!
Re the uniform, I am quite lucky in that by working there I have been able to buy things gradually. I bought the reading folder while he was still in Nursery as they have a reading book for the last two terms. I bought the PE bag and kit while I was still at school. I have only bought plain polo shirts as the school ones are so expensive. At our school practically everyone wears the logoed sweatshirt but hardly any buy the polo shirts so at least I know he won't be the only one! I haven't done the mammoth naming task though - not looking forward to that. Mind you, you wouldn't believe how many people don't bother. I have had many parents moaning at me that their darling has lost a brand new sweatshirt and when I ask about the name they say 'Oh I forgot'! Drives me nuts!! I have been known to write names in before now, especially in PE kit as it all looks exactly the same!
I hope L is ok this morning too.
I don't think we'll be doing a lot today, it's raining! We have to go into town to pick up the new shower and microwave - both packed up the week before we went on holiday! I think the kids will go mad if they have to stay in again, might brave a walk to the canal to feed the ducks as it's only a two minute walk.

AbbyLou · 26/08/2009 15:51

Where is everyone today? The weather here is pants so we've been stuck in all day except for a mini trip out to get the shower and microwave. Having said R was improving, now I'm not so sure. She has cried on and off all dat today. It seems to have left her so shattered. She's such a difficult patient as all she wants to do when she is ill is be cuddled! C is the opposite. He likes to be tucked up either in bed or on the sofa and sleep by himself. I hope she is better for the weekend, we've got a weekend at my parents as it's their Ruby wedding anniversary. I said they could have her for the day as a present but she won't be much fun at the mo bless her!

SKYTVADDICT · 26/08/2009 16:26

I have been packing! So much stuff for a couple of days. The DDs are going to thier Dads tonight until Sunday thats why we decided to have a couple of days away with just the boys.

Weather here terrible too. DD2 has managed to play out all day though and fall out with friends a few times. Will be glad when hols are over! Remind me I said that after a couple of weeks of school runs and pack ups

Will be back online on Sunday/Monday so hope everyone has a nice weekend and that all the poorly ones get better soon x

Themasterandmargaritas · 26/08/2009 18:34

Poor poor babies. I hope someone has reached Pink? We had a brief FB convo this morning and L's temp was still high, but is otherwise not too sick it seems....

I guess Abby when you have the flu it takes quite a bit out of you for a while. I hope Ruby is soon livelier.

LG&T you and Phin are both very brave, I for one, would have been an emotional wreck. How is the patient doing today?

Have a good trip Sky.

Not listening to someone talking about NY.

Now I must go and eat..........

AprilMeadow · 26/08/2009 19:33

Just had a text from Pink to say that it is viral although he has given ab's as a just incase.

largeginandtonic · 26/08/2009 19:35

Poor R Abby Hope she picks up soon.

Pink is ok, Lexie has been to the doc who told her the nurse last night was talking tosh. She is fully vindicated He has given her antibiotics if she feels L needs them but thinks it is probably just viral.

DD1 is much better today, bouncy self. She loved having her hair done. Looks a bit too grown up now, new hair and ears pierced. Argh. Her eyes are still swollena nd she ison drops 4 times a day for the next 2 weeks! No moaning though, she just gets on with it. No idea where she gets that from.

AM start thinking the baby will be super late, it is such a drag the last couple of weeks. I still can't believe you are almost there! Be nice if she came out before the kids go backto school so i can pop up and see you

TMAM we want details of the weekend please >
Why are you not eating?

Sky where are you going, i must have missed it. How nice to have the boys to yourselves for a few days. Are the girls happy to see their Dad?

Jam i am soooo of your NY trip. I hope you have a fabulous time

SOH i am thinking fight scene, while flying (can they do that?) with the gradual ripping off of garments. What do you think?
