Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

JamInMyWellies · 28/07/2009 18:42

Whoop de whoop de day we are going to New York!

AprilMeadow · 28/07/2009 19:13

When.........??????????
Will you be tie-ing the knot whilst there?

largeginandtonic · 28/07/2009 19:14

SOH i shed a tear reading that you have quite a way with words you know. I am always amazed that someone manages to not only come and stay and survive but come stay and come back, madness.

The children are asking for M, she really is so adorable. I spoke to my friend today, the one with the boy who spoke early like M. He turns 13 tomorrow Anyhoo, we were reminising about when he went for his 2 year check. The HV showed him one of the shapes and asked him to put it in right hole. He said

"The red triangle? You want me to put it in that hole?. What about the green circle?"

Ring any bells?

Isaac is gifted you know Top of his class in everything. He is also incredibly sensitive, i love him to pieces. I see alot of him in M.

Jam i LOVE NY

Elkie have a great time away

Scoot pah! to work. Imust get those books you have been reading. Send me one? Have not seen you for ages chick.

The babies are ill, snotty, temp spiking and generally inconsolable. I may have got 2 hours of broken sleep last night.

We are going back to court, he handed over what he needed to yesterday in the nick of time I have been fighting back the tears most of the day, too busy to cry.

Right now there are 6 girls and 5 boys in my front room. DD1 sleep over party >

TMAM she did get her ears pierced, not even a flinch! I got the green and turqoise dress. I Want the zebra shoes to go with it, not sure it matches the green and turqoise though. What do you think?

Themasterandmargaritas · 28/07/2009 19:32

Hear hear Gin, she is just so fluent with her words, so beautiful and spot on with her observations. We wait eagerly for the book (as long as its not about us).

Oh I was so hoping you had chosen the green, it's definitely your colour. I think the zebra shoes will give it ultra chic, go for it.

On holiday Jam or to live? I bet your best friend is delighted!!

April, how was dh when he got back? Did you just shut the playroom door so he couldn't see?!

Gin, J too is snuffly, runny nose and Not Right, he's been whiney all day. Do you think they all have swine flu?

largeginandtonic · 28/07/2009 19:39

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Noooooooooo.

A cold surely?!

She is hard at it writing you know...

AprilMeadow · 28/07/2009 19:42

Dh was ok as i sent him a picture text of the mess to prepare him! I was more bothered by it than him! I have sorted it now and can walk past without having to look the other way Need to get the paint out though as i have a nice red crayon drawing on the wall - E just grinned when i asked if it was her handy work.

Sorry to hear that the bubbas are poorly, we seem to be ok here (touch wood).

Wow brave lady to have that many kids sleeping over...... Do you have a court date yet or is it a wait and see job?

Have just put on a washing load made up of teeny tiny sleepsuits and vests, all in one coat and baby blankets

DjangoTheDjinn · 28/07/2009 19:51

The book, that load of old tripe? Gawd you'd deserve a medal for trawling through it. Ask Gin, she's read my writing haven't you gin? Hilarious wasn't it?

Look if they're asking for M back you know the answer. Get up here, there's a regatta with your name on it. I can't drown her alone fgs.

TMAM, M poorly too. Snuffly, croaky, leaky nose, short fuse, cross with things like her feet for not walking straight. Not swine flu I think. Had it chez SOH, several weeks ago (don't worry Pink, not contagious at all!). Just a virus this time.

Jam, NY? Oh wow. Can I come with you? I've eaten NY bagels from Sainsbo's which is almost exactly the same.

Tonic, those photos on FB are so bloody lovely you know.

Now, can I knit TMAM's shoes on a budget?

largeginandtonic · 28/07/2009 20:11

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha i have been thinking about those shoes too. I want to buy them for you and J a Dolce Gusto. Must do lottery numbers.

Your writing is fabulous, i have had my eyes opened WIDE. Tis very good.

AM i have to wait for a court date now, likely to be in the next 2 weeks i imagine. I do feel for you having the mess taunt you. My house is going to be interesting in the morning...

She has been given blardy make-up fgs... arghhhhhhhhhhhhh

JamInMyWellies · 28/07/2009 20:20

Shmoka too is snotty.

NY is holibobs and to scope out for wedding next yr and to go out and get lashed with BF we have been FB all afternoon getting far too excited and we have not even booked the flights yet.

TMAM meant to ask where were your shoes from they were lush.

Good luck with the sleepover LG&T I am shuddering at the thought you do know they will be up all night one of them will vom and at least one will ask to be taken home at 3am.

Scoot pick a Fri we are free most of them as that is my housework day.

AM love tiny baby clothes.

Elkie have a great time away.

DjangoTheDjinn · 28/07/2009 21:06

Beautiful red or dead shoes. I want them in purple. And green.

That coffee machine? DH has harped on and on and on about it. Inbetween waffling about bikes and baking.

Themasterandmargaritas · 28/07/2009 22:06

The purple are a must. Do it! Do it!

Wow you have let Gin read The Book? Send me a copy, purlease.

Jam do I take it the NY trip is you on your own?

Lol at the thought of one of them waking up in the night and asking to be taken home. No way jose.

Themasterandmargaritas · 28/07/2009 22:08

Oh my god I have downloaded an SOH album and I like it

DjangoTheDjinn · 28/07/2009 22:28

Which one did you download? Gawd, we've only been chatting for years and finally one of you has listened to my namesake.

They are Very Good. Beardy folkies yes but Very Good.

Themasterandmargaritas · 28/07/2009 23:01

Witness. I really like The Dive.

DjangoTheDjinn · 28/07/2009 23:08

The Dive is good. Excellent live (acoustics at Royal Albert Hall really added something to it). It's a good album but very different to their older stuff. I like Roots and Phil Beer's musical take on Innocents' Song. Very festive . And it inspired DH's MN username but I didn't tell you that.

JamInMyWellies · 29/07/2009 08:21

SOH I secretly listen to a bit of Cambridge folk festival on radio 2.

TMAM we are all of to NY cant leave my babies behind ( my boobs would explode) have got a 1 bed suite thing so have organsied a babysitter and will be leaving the wee ones to it in the evening. There will be a spot of wedding dress trying on though.

LG&T did you survive?

Themasterandmargaritas · 29/07/2009 08:30

See, we are all coming out of the woodwork now

at the thought of wedding dress trying on. Sooooooooooooo exciting! You will make an awesome bride, however you could wear anything and still look wonderful.

Dh's got a MN username? Wow he really is a new man. Right now I am going to have to work out his name, aren't I?

Gin, have you lost any children yet?

It is a howling gale outside, we are going to attempt to go to a steam railway .

Themasterandmargaritas · 29/07/2009 08:33

Oh and SOH, I have definitely heard Roots before, yes it's fantastic.

DjangoTheDjinn · 29/07/2009 08:43

Roots the album, latest best of CD. Very, very good.

Wedding dresses. Take lots of pics! Cambs Folkie is just brilliant. Not going this year,

Gin, how was the sleepover? We're off to DH's Grandma's for lunch today. Her best friend's dd works on your DH's ship, as does her fiance who is the ship's doctor.

AprilMeadow · 29/07/2009 08:50

JAM i love wedding dress shopping!!! Sometimes i wish i could turn back the clock and do it all over again, would spend far more time trying dresses on, even trying so 'wacky' ones just for fun

I also quite fancy a trip to NY, never been but would be great to experience it.... I fancy Xmas shopping there, but would have to wait until next Xmas to go.

Radio 2..... Folk music...... nope, not registering.......

Took the rest of the cakes into work yesterday and was nearly lynched!! They went down extremely well

Bought J his school shoes yesterday as his feet were only just going into the next size - he looked so grown up and it was quite scary!! £34 for a pair of shoes . Ended up with shoes for him, plimsoles, new shoes for E and some sandals as she had grown as well. Nearly died when the sales asst told me it was £90!! I hate to think what LG&T's bill must come to....

TMAM, i hope the weather holds out for you to have a good day out with the trains. Those shoes are gorgeous btw and look so comfy.

Off shopping this morning to get a few last bits for the hospital bag - certainly dont need any more clothes as i think L could easily change outfits 2/3 times day with all the clothes LG&T gave me!!

elkiedee · 29/07/2009 10:40

Thanks LG&T and Jam, sure we will but we're not going away for another whole month .

Would love to go to Cambridge Folk Festival SOH (or DTD?) but it seems a bit daunting, though I know a friend went with an almost 4 year old and a 6 month old. It's this weekend isn't it, will have to see if BBC 4's screening much of it.

Envious of Jam's NY trip plans.

largeginandtonic · 29/07/2009 12:16

I told you not to buy any clothes AM! I have spent a fortune on shoes in the last 2 weeks, ds3 and 4 had school shoes and ds4 needed play shoes too. That is £95 just for 2 of them. The last time i went shoe shopping it was £184, that was dd1 with 2 pairs and the twins and B. It makes me want to cry.

Will mention that to dh SOH, small world indeed. He needs a Dolce and you MUST have those shoes!

The sleepover was hellish. Lots of noise and sweets and mess. They all went at 11am.

B and B were up from 1230-5. The rest of them got up at 6. I am a zombie.

We have just got dd1 eye app through for later this month too. Cue phoning solicitors to change my dates availability for court

Beau took hi nappy off and spread the poo everywhere. Dd1 threw her breakfast all over the floor twice so i have been making awkward phone calls while scrubbing carpets and children while controlling [laugh] 11 children.

I am a bit tired.

Megglevache · 29/07/2009 12:21

Oh. My. Gawd LG, how do you do it? I have only two and they're enough to drive me nuts and if I get through a day without shouting at them once then I think I need a medal myself.

largeginandtonic · 29/07/2009 12:27

I have a bottle of wine in the fridge from the lovely SOH and husband,i will be drinking it all tonight. If i am not asleep at 8 that is!

I am a mess Meggle, we have the Psychologist coming at 2 to meet all of us. This is for dd1 to help with her anxiety caused by her Turners syndrome. She may be calling in the men in white coats for me at this rate...
