Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

charleymouse · 25/07/2009 17:12

Oh begger, I had to have a puncture repaired yesterday morning which meant I did not have time to collect my bakewell puddings that nephew had ordered for me . As we needed to get off at lunchtime. We made good progress until the M25 when DD needed a wee, DH stuck one of DS nappies under her bum and I'm sure I saw the van driver behind us laughing. We eventually got to Farnborough at nearly 20:00 we left Sheffield before 14:00 .

We have had a lovely day swimming in the hotel and then we went to Birdworld and the kids have just woken up from their nap. Off for another swim before dinner. As my puddings have fallen through is there anything specific I need to bring AM?

Pebblemum · 25/07/2009 17:16

Have tried to keep busy today but all i keep thinking about is that bloody article in the paper. Told dh about it last night and as you can understand he was not amused, in fact he was more annoyed than me about it. So far though J hasnt mentioned anything about it, not even when mil was talking about her half brothers. I thought he would mention that he has one but he didnt so hopefully hes taken it all with a pinch of salt. I think it probably affected me more lol. I was watching J in the hot tub today and for the first time in ages i noticed how much he looks like his sperm donor, it was quite scary. What does make me laugh is the CSA has spent 10yrs trying to find him and now hes crawled out of the woodwork but i bet they still dont do naff all.

Onto nicer subjects lol. Hope the meet up goes well, look forward to seeing pics. Talking of pics i had a major clearout the other day and found lots of old ones. Have chosen the lovely embarassing one that will be put in the paper next May for J's 13th, am i cruel or what

Have a fab time everyone....really wish I was there

I am back from the longest week away ever. It was hard work and I'm glad to be home.

Pebblemum · 26/07/2009 00:40

I have just done the most stupid and embarassing thing ever- i superglued my fingers to E's flashing glasses! He was moaning the arm had come off so my neighbour gave me a tube of glue, it must have been leaking though as the next thing i knew i was stuck fast. Tried everything to free them but all i managed to do was damage the glasses so that they wouldnt turn off, i was stood outside flashing while all the neighbours had a good giggle at my expense. In the end it was decided a trip to A&E was needed but as dh had been drinking it meant we had to add to my embarassment and call my Mil. The glasses were still flashing and just to make sure i never forget what id done, my neighbours daughter took a photo to put on facebook. It was like something you would see on bizarre AE. Luckily my Fil managed to free me and i got away with avoiding the hospital in the end (what a prat i would have looked lol) but my Mil made sure she phoned everyone to give them a giggle before she went home. Dh cant look at me without laughing and E is worried about his glasses not turning off. Dh is also itching to tell his friends about it. Oh well at least everyones had a good laugh and the kids got to stay up late, all at my expense pmsl. What a prat!

Megglevache · 26/07/2009 19:50

Hope you had a wonderful time.
xx

JamInMyWellies · 26/07/2009 21:34

Thanks for a great afternoon AM. It was fantastic to see everyone and MrsJB fab that you came over. Amazing, all the children behaved themselves and played brilliantly!

Themasterandmargaritas · 26/07/2009 21:55

We all had a lovely lovely time, I hope the mess wasn't too large or too messy to tidy up. Many thanks April. J kept asking for Archie right up to the motorway!

AprilMeadow · 27/07/2009 09:28

Had a great time yesterday, was lovely to see you all. We were so lucky that the weather held up for us.

To be honest there wasnt too much to sort out as most of the stuff could go into the bin! The fridge is still alarmingly full though!

Got some lovely piccies from the BBQ and thought it was so lovely that all the children played so nicely together. I loved the fact the twins had to give me a hug after a stern talking to by LG&T for climbing the trellis. I dont think that Hugo and Jonah left the seesaw swing for more than 5 minutes throughout the whole day. Jack thinks that Jake is the coolest kid ever!

Ella woke up just after SKY left and wondered where all the 'peoples' had gone, think she was gutted to have missed some play time.

We had all the kids bathed and in bed by 8.15 (E&L were down by 7.30 with J going last)

Going to tackle the playroom later when i can find the energy!

Leaving here in an hour to take MrsJB back to the airport and then this afternoon i will be vegging out on the sofa. Pink left here at 8.40am!!!! So should be back home just after lunch.

Charley, i hope you got back safely.

LG&T have got Indie's dummy here, will pop it in an envelope and post it back to you.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Phin x Have been drooling over the M&P swing and DH even commented this morning how nice it is!! Thanks also for the MASSIVE bag of clothes - what would you like me to do with them once L grows out of them? Do you want them back or shall i pass them on....?

So all in all it was a FAB weekend, I have so enjoyed spending time with MrsJB and Pink. Am totally knackered but it was SOOOOOO worth it!!!

Megglevache · 27/07/2009 10:53

Awww sounds like it was totally worth the exhaustion AM!

Tillyscoutsmum · 27/07/2009 14:16

Sorry but LOL at Pebble

Really glad everyone had a good time yesterday - look forward to seeing some pics

AM (and other pg ladies), come and do my gender experiment please here

largeginandtonic · 27/07/2009 17:05

Poor you Pebble but am a bit at you. Would like to see a pic.

AM thank you so much it was such a good day. You were a perfect host, the house is gorgeous and the garden is a PARK! The kids loved it. I loved it!

It was crazy to see CM and Pink after all this time. We have been chatting away to each other for almost 3 years. Can you believe it?!

We must meet more often... rotate houses. Nairobi next isn't it?

SOH and family left just before lunch. It was fab to see them again, M is just the sweetest little thing. Her vocab is amazing, the twins loved her SOH looked fabulous, i NEED to start running so i can look as good as her and TMAM.

I have shoe envy along with SOH for TMAM gorgeous green one's. We went looking last night for them online

Thank you, thank you for it all AM you ae amazing

TheGreatScootini · 27/07/2009 18:30

Hi all,

Glad you had a great meetup.Am very .I went to Blackppol in the end leaving DH with one sick Lily and a sniffly Mae.
Had a lovely time, but Blackpool was horrid and full of drunks (no offence if someone lives there, it might just have been the bit I was in obv!) I did kick everyones ass at crazy golf though

Lol at the glasses Pebble.I love that they were still flashing!

AprilMeadow · 27/07/2009 19:21

Pebble, that really is quite comical - sorry!

Managed to drop MrsJB back at the airport safely and have had an MSN to say she is home safe and sound.

Pink got home at about 1pm so she did really well time wise. I think L is such a sweetheart, she had a little fan in the form of Jack and both her and E played so nicely together.

Hope SOH got back safely as well.

Would have been great to have had a few more of you here - I wonder when the next meet up will be.....?

Havent managed to attack the playroom yet - might leave it for tonight and tackle it after a nice early night.

LG&T, E is in love with the swing and has strapped baby Annabel into it

Am going to get my hospital bag all ready this week and pack it in the car ready for taking to the touring cars this weekend - just in case!

JAM, thanks for the offer of popping in for a cuppa but i really just wanted to get home and veg out

Scoot & Meggle it would have been great to have seen you, perhaps next time.........

Themasterandmargaritas · 27/07/2009 21:02

hahaha Pebble, I love it. Can we see a picture?

Awwww Scoot, we missed you and Tills and Meggle... But it was so nice to meet Sky and her lovely family, Jam and her sexy haircut, Charley with her tiny bump and the absolutely gorgeous Pink and Lexie, whose new baby is going to be called Hayley . Charley's dh is going to come and run a half marathon with me in Nairobi next year! It was a FANTASTIC surprise to have MrsJB there.

MOTY was amazing as ever, with her zen like calm and the whole SOH family was too charming for words. As for April, I have absolutely no idea how she does it. And I have serious kitchen envy.

I hope Phin has had a lovely day, did you manage to make it through the ear piercing in one piece? [wince]

Btw Gin, that dress is fab, which colour did you go for?

Get planning, the next meet is in November in Nairobi

My dad is coming tomorrow and then dsis on Wednesday with the new baby, hooray another tiny baby to squidge, I am very excited!

MmeJaffaB · 27/07/2009 21:57

Pebble, Oh dear sounds like a sticky situation!

Ahh ladies, it was such a lovely weekend, it was so nice to finally meet those I hadn't. You are all gorgeous and lovely! The children all played so nicely, I tell you, it wouldn't have been like that with mine there too.
Thankyou AM for all of it and a huge personal one for making it happen for me. ((hugs))

Finally I can only leave you with this thought................. We must NEVER EVER EVER let Jack and Maddie get together, they would DESTROY the world!!!! I can see them plotting now.

DjangoTheDjinn · 27/07/2009 22:24

We are safely home! Left Casa Gin about 11hrs ago. Called in to visit DH's Grandma's cousin in London who is 86, tells the filthiest jokes and played football with the Tank. She's incredible.

Anyway... wow, what a weekend. Mathilda was so sad to leave. She has talked about nothing but how happy she is. We went to a park (AM's garden), there was a sausage party (bbq) and apparently 'Bicky is my best friend'. She has just got out of the bath and said 'the baby is called Indie but called Bluebell too.' It's too confusing, just change her name Tonic.

AM, you are a one woman force for good I swear. You were a lovely hostess, are quite breathtakingly pretty and have the loveliest bump. Thank you for having us, we had a lovely time. Oh, and the gingerbread, mmm.

MrsJB. That was one well kept secret. Next time bring the trio. You know, you sound nothing like you type if that makes any sense? You have a filthy laugh and DH referred to you as 'the really funny one' (he's rubbish with names). I was so pleased to finally meet you.

Charley, you are not even remotely, not even a little bit, not at all like I imagined. No, my head hurts trying to work it out. I played catch with DS for a while and he was charming. Well, not catch really but chuck the ball and laugh as it goes behind you instead of in front of you. He was adorable. Your DH is lovely too. As are you of course. You make lovely children. They were super.

TMAM, oh do I want to be you when I grow up? Your hair looked fab and those shoes, oh I have shoe envy in the extreme. DS2 has the most amazing knowledge of planes, DS1 is very charming and polite and DD is so graceful and kind. Shy though, were we overwhelming?

Jam, can't remember a thing about you. That Scottish lilt just throws me every time and I start staring in awe. Seriously, shorts, brave during an English July, non? And you're young enough and trendy enough to be allowed in Top Shop. Wow! Your boys are so lovely, loved having a cuddle with L, he was such a smiley and happy boy. Tired though poor thing. Did he sleep a lot on the way home?

Sky, you are also nothing like I expected. How handsome are your boys? DDs 1 and 2 btw, a credit to you. Really sweet girls and very polite. Do NOT let dd dye that beautiful honeyed brown hair. Make her wait. Have a lovely break and a safe trip home.

Pink, oh my darling. What do you worry about? Honestly you silly thing. All that fretting about mothering and L is just wonderful. So sweet and concerned about everything- being wet for example or why there's fruit on the steps. She can be so serious. So pretty too. You are nowt like your pictures btw. Me and Gin discussed you. We were expecting Melinda Messenger and you're much prettier than her. And I wouldn't kick her out of bed for dropping gingerbread crumbs. Well I would because it's gingerbread and you don't waste it. And she'd make me look like a troll by being in the same room so yes I'd kick her out, but I'm ruining the sentiment entirely.

Tonic, there are no words. I know you laugh about the MOTY thing and act embarrassed but it's true. Your family are amazing, so inclusive and friendly and funny. Every minute with them is exhausting and chaotic but hilarious and life affirming. They love each other and annoy each other and look out for each other and fight and laugh and everything else besides. You can never doubt that you are doing a wonderful job. The twins are growing into such funny, lovely young men and so good with the littlies. DD1 is tremendous, determined, open and I was so delighted with how she was with M. DS3, well, he's just great. He's so quiet but very funny and demonstrative and concentrates so intently on things. DS4, oh he's a heartbreaker. And older than his years, curious, open, loud, happy and growing up too fast. DS5 is the prettiest boy in the world, spirited, sensitive and M calls him Bobo now. Bluebell, oh she's just lovely. Happy and beautiful and unable to lie still for even a minute. Once you even managed to crack my 'no more children' policy. Bluebell was smiling at M and M said 'I love the baby smiling' and stroked her head. That was the only moment. Don't worry, I recovered.

Anyway, bed. So tired after the weekend. But in a good way.

Nairobi for Christmas. France for the TDF next year. Whaddya reckon?

DjangoTheDjinn · 27/07/2009 22:26

PS. If a single photo of me appears on FB, I will not be responsible for my actions. You have been warned.

elkiedee · 28/07/2009 00:37

Hi all, glad the meet up went really really well, and how cool that the kids really sound to have had a great time too. Hope some time I might get to see those of you I've met again (Jam, April, TYG and Befnal aka FLF) and meet all of you I've not met. And your babies/toddlers/older children.

We were going up north at the weekend originally but decided to stay in London and go to my cousin's wedding instead. It was a very touching ceremony and our two were among apparently 19 kids on the guest list, it appeared to be even more.

I've booked more train tickets to Ilkley (where my mum now lives) for the week from 29 August to 5 September, am really looking forward to it.
