Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

I can't wait to help you...

largeginandtonic · 20/07/2009 20:46

Contined!!! Contained even!

ExpositionDesMains · 20/07/2009 20:51

Spelling, shmelling. It's all about the execution.

I'm soooooo excited. 5 sleeps...

ExpositionDesMains · 20/07/2009 20:54

Oh lawks, scrolling up. DH is going to be the only man there again at this rate. How do I break it to him that not only is Sailor Joe off at sea, Tills' cycling dh isn't going to be there to talk about the TDF? If DHs/Ps aren't going to put in the effort then tell 'em you're taking a date. I have some eligible single males in my little black book. Non attendance will not do.

largeginandtonic · 20/07/2009 21:01

S'ok he is only coming for me anyway...

ExpositionDesMains · 20/07/2009 21:31

Roffle.

Wondered why he'd started washing.

Poor dh, all that driving, no other men to talk to. So hard.

largeginandtonic · 20/07/2009 21:40

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Only 5 sleeps alone till Saturday

SKYTVADDICT · 20/07/2009 22:00

My DP will definitely be there and is very friendly x

Themasterandmargaritas · 21/07/2009 07:47

My dh definitely won't be there as he thinks you are all a bunch of paedos.

I am interested though in your little black book of extras SOH, bring one along for me, I'm not bothered about his looks, just make sure he is interesting.

What do the extra curricula activities consist of??

Oh god it's raining again. How are we supposed to be tourists in this country? We might have to go shopping instead. Yesterday we bought two new tents, dh got very excited.

AprilMeadow · 21/07/2009 08:47

O M G its this weekend!!!!!
Must start on my list of things to do....
1: Blitz house
2: Prepare the West Wing for PJ's arrival
3: Jump around like a loon at the thought of everyone coming
4: Visit the wonder that is Costco - woooo i love that place
5: Jump around like a loon at the thought of everyone coming
6: Make sure camera is fully charged

It really does seem to have come round quickly

Dh is heading up to his Grandad's to help him with some 'man' stuff on the Saturday.... cant work out if he is more scared at the thought of a house full of women and children or at the potential mess that could be made

Totally, very tired here as we had a busy weekend. Family BBQ followed by a car show on the green here. Both our Touring Car drivers came down for it which was nice although was so nice to have a night to ourselves last night. Spent most of yesterday lying down watching Desperate House Wives and eating chocolate

Curtain pole went up in the nursery yesterday and i ordered the cot mattress. Curtains arrive next week and once the cot is built we are fully ready for this one to arrive. Have decided to keep a single bed in the nursery for now as it means i can move in there once she arrives and i wont be disrupting dh when i am up in the night feeding etc It also means that the kids wont have their routine messed around with as they wont have to worry about waking me up. Luckily there is a tv on the wall so i will have company on the loooooong nights . I realised last night that when pg with E at this point i only had 4wks and 2 days left before she arrived - eek

7 weeks and 6 days til EDD

JamInMyWellies · 21/07/2009 10:02

Aaahhh Costco am just off there myself to stockpile nappies. Might buy a cake or 2 of Sun. It is Sunday not Saturday right??

ExpositionDesMains · 21/07/2009 10:10

TMAM, have hand selected a beau for you. He is 28, plays guitar and sings in a band, is a lawyer in his spare time, has the most beautiful voice, upwardly mobile, funny and pretty. In all seriousness, I still don't understand why he's single.

Extra curricular activities? I have a new hobby. Embroidery. LG&T has seen the product of this new interest. Lovely isn't it tonic? Wholesome you might say...

AM, what shall I bring? What food is still required?

Tonic, talking of tents, DH is thinking about camping somewhere in Hampshire instead of imposing. Can you recommend somewhere? Preferably a hotel.

AprilMeadow · 21/07/2009 11:23

Yes deffo Sunday

Food:
I am getting burgers & sausages buns etc have drinks (coke, diet coke, lemonade, juice)
Sky is bringing potato salad, coleslaw and dips
TMAM is bringing salad and kiddie bits
JAM is sorting the puds
LG&T is bringing a birthday cake for Phin

If you want to bring along anything you might want then please do. Am sure we will have tons of stuff and will be posting it all to those that couldnt make it

charleymouse · 21/07/2009 11:59

DH might now be coming although he is of similar opinion to TMAMs DH. He thinks it a little weird how we want to meet up anyway. He also thinks the menfolk are laying themselves open to being perused by all these rampant feminists who remember when their DWs said "you won't believe what DH has done today 'insert relevant naughtiness here' to the rest of the May 07ers and Mumsnet" He feels the DHs will be prejudged by us. As if .

So just for the record DH is lovely, I am still madly in love with him (22 years later), he can go like a steam train, is fit as a butchers dog, can run a half marathon in under 2 hours , supports my extended breastfeeding and puts up with the fact I am the crappest housewife ever. He can clean like a demon (he has to as I don't), cook a great pasta bake, is great with nappys, blood, sick, (insert relevant bodily fluid), has a slight hi-fi/ coffee/ marine fish (sport various) obsession , and on the whole I wouldn't I swap him. We have our moments as you know but on the whole, pretty good going for a couple of geriatrics IMHO.

LG&T I will let her know cheers, bless her she had been told for years she couldn'[t conceive and then split with her husband late last year and found she was pregnant this year (new man) but didn't know until about 15 weeks as it was the last thing on her mind. I just hope she and her little boy are okay. When is it Phins birthday?

AM No idea on the sex, heart beat 149 bopm if that is a clue. What is left for me to bring, shall I bring some PROPER Bakewell Puddings? Ribena Really Light or some sort of Robinsons sugar free fruit cordial okay? DH will be there on Saturday won't he AM? Stop that jumping around woman, contain yourself.

Cheers MJB ooh maybe you can pass some of those delicious continental pastries back through as well, yummy.

Thanks Elkie, how are you doing? Waves back, are you coming to the meetup?

Thanks Jam, M25 will be a breeze . No more sickness, hurrah. Slightly snotty but hoping it will be gone by weekend.

SOH EDM, DH can talk TDF and the apparently crap coverage on ITV4 is it? Or some obscure channel, he has been most disgruntled about the coverage and the Open coverage last week. I think there is a F1 Grand Prix this weekend so he may want to be engrossed in that if there is a telly available. We are looking at a Holiday Inn thingy but not sure as have not booked anywhere yet. DH has just rung me to remind me to get it sorted.

SKY he is not so much shy as thinks we are all mental breastfeeding activists, he secretly calls Mumsnet breast titfeedingnet and thinks the above.

12YG you look a scrummy yummy mummy and in no way resemble a muffin. Okay only to the extent you look good enough to eat.

TMAM your breasts look lovely. ( Would that be classed as sexual harassment from colleague or okay do you think? Best not to mention breasts after all) Appraisal forms are winging their way through as we speak. I expect a full and frank evaluation of the office particularly a mention of the excellent support from the Sheffield branch. Of course a substantial pay rise will follow I may have to visit the African Office to verify a few details though

Anway must get on this won't get the baby a new bonnet will it?

charleymouse · 21/07/2009 12:07

Excuse typos must be due to the excitement/trepidation/excitement/nervousness/excitement/anticipation/excitement/apprehension of meeting you all.

OMG what if you are all horrid ?

Or
Hairy bikers

Or
teenage boys getting their rocks off on our trials and tribulations.

Aaaaaaagh having second thoughts about this now, you are all real people aren't you? You are all as lovely as you sound aren't you?

AprilMeadow · 21/07/2009 12:16

Charley - have plenty of Tv's that dh can sneak off and watch! Nope DH is not back until the Monday - tbh probably best that he isnt here, then he cant see the mess . Bakewells sound yummy thanks. Re Holiday Inn's, there is on in Farnborough and it has a pool and such like. Very nice and only 10mins (ish) from here.

At least you have met me and Pink so you know that we are not of the hairy biker/teenage boy variety

Just hung curtains in the back bedroom before the arrival of Pink and Lexie on Saturday

Pinkjenny · 21/07/2009 12:17

AprilMeadow · 21/07/2009 13:49

MmeJaffaB · 21/07/2009 15:34

Going to be 32° here, come here instead?

MmeJaffaB · 21/07/2009 15:35

haha PJ, I am useless at all of the mentioned, honestly my friends all do it for me as I'm that bad!!

Pinkjenny · 21/07/2009 15:38

In my defence, I had sunstroke once and it was hideous, it has made me a bit scared of the sun.

MrsJB - I sooooooo wish you were coming. I've bought a new pair of slippers and everything!

JamInMyWellies · 21/07/2009 15:55

Have just bought the biggest carrot cake and chocolate cake for Sunday. Not sure if the chocolate one will make it the smell in the car was rather tempting.
