Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

AprilMeadow · 09/07/2009 20:57

Am popping over to the Jaffa's and then back in time for the meet up

Ahh yes but they are not mine

SKYTVADDICT · 10/07/2009 12:39

Blimey AM - hope you have a nice time BUT are you ever going to slow down??

Just had a letter from DD1s school to say that a girl in her year has swine flu. There are 120 girls in her year so I am trying to find out if it is someone in her class but she hasn't texted me back yet. Apparently there is nothing we need to do apart from keep an eye on them for illness and take them to GP if at all worried? How many parents are going to be going to GP on Monday with daughters with a cold?

SKYTVADDICT · 10/07/2009 12:40

Just off to google swine flu and look up incubation period etc. Want to make sure we are not bringing anything nasty to the meet up!

SKYTVADDICT · 10/07/2009 12:50

Oh good. Looks like we will be fine if she has shown no syptoms by the end of next week, she will then break up on the 17th so not be in contact with anyone else from school before we come down. Phew!

JamInMyWellies · 10/07/2009 13:26

Thats a worry SKY. We have a friend just this wk who has been quarantined and given tamiflu her and her 7mth old but her husband and 2 elder sons have been told to carry on as normal still go to school and on the train to London etc. I spoke to someone at NHS direct as we had all been out together and shmoka was full of cold and she said that TBH the general feeling is that nearly everyone is going to get it at some point and that they are only giving tamiflu (which is apparantly only effective if given in the first 24hiours of symptoms) to the high ridk groups young children elderly and those with health issues.

AM be careful flying over to MrsJB make sure you get a doctors note as the airlines were right pain in the bum last summer when we went on holiday and I had to provide Dr's notes to say I was fit to fly and I was only just into my 2nd tri.

It looks like my poor wee parch is ill. He has a temp of 39.2, he has refused lunch and tottered off to bed with his teddies and gone straight to sleep.

We are getting tough on shmoka he woke last night at 10 gave him a cuddle went back to sleep then he woke again at 11.15 DP gave him milk and then he screamed for 30 mins but eventually went back to sleep and didnt wake until 6.15 that is the longest stretch of sleep I have had since he was born. God please let it continue.

Hi everyone else,x.

AprilMeadow · 10/07/2009 13:33

What a worry SKY.

JAM well done you. Fingers crossed for a repeat performance tonight.

Going to get a Dr's note, but failing that i can get the Eurostar

SKYTVADDICT · 10/07/2009 14:38

Congrats on the good nights sleep Jam.

DD1 has texted and it isn't a girl in her form. Will further interrogate her Sunday when I see her. Her Dad is picking her up tonight as she has DETENTION!! until 4.50 FGS!!

I have just had a lovely lady round from NatCen - National Centre for Social Research. I took part in a Childcare Research Study. Very boring but nice to chat to someone different. She was here for an hour.

charleymouse · 10/07/2009 14:58

ooh how lovely AM,
Sky thank goodness,
MJB ooh a mini meetup you lucky thing.
JAM woohoo on the sleep, you must feel so refreshed. Hope he is feeling better later.

AbbyLou · 10/07/2009 15:04

We have swine flu too! Not me personally but we have had one teacher, one parent and two children all confirmed within the last 48 hours. We have been told not to close the school and to carryon as normal. None of them havebeen given any drugs and won't be apparently. I think it's inevitable we;re all going to get it sometime! Hopefully not though.
We had an inset day today and finished at 1.30 so I've got the afternoon to catch upon some work. Oh joy!!!

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2009 19:51

Hooray Jam!!! Long may it continue.

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2009 19:53

Jam where does Shmoka come from? My sis is called shmoka, has been since she was a baby. No relation to her name at all!

SKYTVADDICT · 10/07/2009 20:19

Detention was for getting her amber card marked 5 times. Twice for forgotten books, one for chewing, one for late for class and one for make up.

DDs at their Dads and hoping to get boys to bed soon. May have an early night with DP . Would make a change.

Go for the chinese LG&T, you know you want to x

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2009 20:27

JamInMyWellies · 10/07/2009 20:49

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2009 21:17

LOLOLOLOLOL at SOH

JamInMyWellies · 10/07/2009 21:25

Shmoka is Shmoka because we started off saying Lachlan Shmochlan Pochlan then it was Lachie Shmokie Pokie and it just developed into Shmoka.

Themasterandmargaritas · 11/07/2009 14:52

Just a flying visit from rainy Somerset, we all arrived safely, if not totally knacked. J was very very good, though I am a bit weary of hearing 'there's another aeroplane mama' 'look there's another aeroplane mama'. Still he will have plenty more to look at as we are off to Greece tonight for a week.

Have a great week.

JamInMyWellies · 12/07/2009 20:24

TMAM have a fabbo time.

So how do you differntiate between swine flu and mastitis. I ache all over have a headache which feels like someone has taken a jack hammer to my skull want to vomit and have an uber painful lump in my boob. How on earth do I clear it. Have tried to feed shmoka lots on it today. Hot flannel?? Express??

largeginandtonic · 12/07/2009 21:29

Oh Jam Feed, hot flannel in a hot bath, feed some more. Lots of massage even if it is unbearable.

Is there a red rash/area spreading from the lump? Is it hot? Rest a lot too.

If it looks worse tomorrow then you need the doc for antibiotics. It is hateful.

TMAM have a great time!!! SEE you soon

SKYTVADDICT · 12/07/2009 22:29

Its horrid Jam isn't it. Lots of massage and hot flannels used to help me. I think SOH used a needle once . Paracetomol.

Or

I also vaguely remember CM saying she cleared her own by sucking the lump out !!

JamInMyWellies · 13/07/2009 08:33

have fed loads and expressed hot flannel tis making no difference still have lump. And the special one has now been tantrumming since 5.45!Give me strength!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
