Morning ladies. Sorry I have been AWOL. You'd think with DH having been at home for a full month that I'd have had time for MN. Actually no, if any of you have ever had a DH at home for a full month you'd know exactly why I haven't had time. Get your mind out of the gutter Gin, it's not that.

Thought I'd start a new thread since MKG's lovely girl arrived such a long time ago!

April, am very sorry about your friend. How sad.

Have only had a skim through I'm afraid, but Scoot; you obviously have the patience of a saint dealing with all those tantrums, so I think you'd make a great driving instructor. Is it really what you want to do or are you trying to think of jobs to fit in with family life? Is it a reaction to the current job do you think?

Congratulations on the wedding plans SKY.

Belated birthday greetings to everyone I've missed and happy birthday in advance to all the rest. Seriously, if I go off to find the birthday thread it might be weeks before I get back!

LG&T, is there any way you can channel B's energy into activity? A gets quite naughty when she's bored or hasn't been "out". "Out" can just mean the garden and "out" means she doesn't sound so loud to me, thus killing two birds with one stone. I'm wondering if you being (understandably) afraid to leave the house with him is actually making things worse? Something like a trampoline in the garden could be great because all the bouncing up and down would use up tons of energy and wear him out, whilst also being "fun" for him and "quiet" for you.
Also, re B's nappy rash. Remember A had a hideous rash that needed anti-biotics etc? Well it went away and then was back a couple of weeks later. I thought it couldn't possibly be teeth again as she seems to have all her teeth. Took her off milk and hey presto, the rash was gone in 18 hours. Plus her soft, foul-smelling poos have turned into normal firm not-awful smelling poos. She's fine with butter or the occasional bit of cheese, but any more lactose sets her off. I wonder could B have a similar problem? A's excema also got worse on milk and is now clearing up. I think it's probably temporary, she had a similar problem last year, but for now she's on rice milk or the Lactofree products when I can get hold of them.

I was at the doctor on Weds to get my Mirena removed and replaced with a copper coil to see if my libido would come back. GP couldn't "find" the Mirena. I have to go for a scan to find it, then to a family planning clinic to have it removed if they do find it. She said it's probably just lost, rather than come out, but it's kind of put me off using coils altogether now.

DH still not redundant yet. It's been a month since he was put "at risk". He's seeing HR today and I suspect this will be the final meeting and they actually sack him. His manager admitted they were hiring new people for the desk, but not for "his role", which is just a load of crap. You can't make a position redundant on the basis you want to hire someone "more senior". That's just a staff upgrade. Hopefully they'll make a settlement offer today, otherwise he'll have to appeal and start sending solicitors letters. However, he's had loads of interviews, lots of callbacks and good feedback.

How wuude Charley

Jack has his school visit this morning - eek. He is very excited but doesnt understand why he isnt in a class with all of his nursery friends..... will let them explain that one

Themasterandmargaritas · 24/06/2009 10:08

Oooo April, how exciting! It's a momentous moment heading off to school....I bet he will love it. I hope you got the iron-on labels . When dd started school her reception teacher told me that all the kids picked up the clothes from the floor and sniffed them to see which one smelt like home, then they knew which was theirs.

Talking of book bags, does anyone have any Bookstart book bags left over? We have book bags here but they are rubbish and so I have been using an old Bookstart one for dd, I could really do with 2 more, one to replace hers and one for ds1 so if anyone wants rid of theirs I will happily take them! And thank you April for your wellies offer, what size are they? J is an enormous beast of a child and may now be too big for them! He is an 8.

Thank goodness the vom has stopped Gin. Phew. Are you talking to your sister again??

AprilMeadow · 24/06/2009 11:15

Oh yes i got the iron on labels I have a vast selection of shoes so will locate the bigger sizes and recycle the smaller ones.

Jack had a great time at school, didnt say goodbye and didnt want to come away - phew looks like September should be nice and easy

JamInMyWellies · 24/06/2009 21:14

Hi all,

gosh its been quiet on here.

AM wow Jackeroo at school what a big boy. Nearly there love just try to rest up.

LG&T what a time of it you are having wish I was a bit nearer and could give you a hand.

Charley

Where is TYG she must be having some marathon sex sessions

MrsJB I need some advice we are hoping to have a week away this Summer and are thinking about going to France we will be driving where is a nice area to go, I was thinking the Dordogne maybe where would be a lovely place to go family friendly?

Big news here Archie has finally figured out how to say Mummy hurrah!!! He has been saying mama for ages and has quite a large vocab but he has refused to say Mummy or Daddy. Am chuffed to bits Not so much when he comes through to me at 4am holds my head and says Mummy.

JamInMyWellies · 24/06/2009 21:26

AM have you seen these name tag things

largeginandtonic · 24/06/2009 22:47

Evening all

We are still poo and vom free! Hooray.

Likewise AM on the ta ta at the gate and no looking back, H is just the same. He can't wait till September and is quite miffed he still has to go to playschool. He will be wearing J's uniform [tight]

Jam i am of your holiday to France. How lovely of A to say Mummy! B (tonight actually) was screaming Muh...meeeeeeee at the top of his lungs beore giving up and shouting Jaaaaaaaaake He was ignored, Jake and i sat on the stairs looking at each other thinking 'please stop, don't wake Bluebell' over and over

Precious moments eh?! He screamed all round Sainsbos today too. I had many people approach him to try and calm him down and "Tut" very loudly at me What fun we had.

How are the rest of you? Tis very quiet here.

AprilMeadow · 25/06/2009 08:31

OOh JAM i hadnt seen those even though i got the labels etc from that website. YAY to A for finally saying Mummy

LG&T glad to hear that you are still vom & poo free. Am sure that Ella will be wearing certain items of Jack's uniform when her time comes along - unless Jack has managed to wreak it by then! LOL at B calling for Jake because you were ignoring him. Oh and i cant stand those people who try and calm your child down or pass comments in supermarkets/ shopping. I always lose my rag and tell them to piss off!

Had my 28wks mw appt yest and all is going well. Am measuring slightly smaller than i should but not worryingly so. BP looked a little raised compared to the last time and also had slight ankle swelling but i think that must have been down to the heat. She is also in a much better position than E was at this stage and is head down with back along my right hand side. E was breech from now until 2 days before she was born. Next appt in 6wks

Taking it easy today as i felt like total crap last night, came over very hot and clamy so figured that today (well this am until i get kids from nursery) i will veg out.

Where is everyone else?

MmeJaffaB · 25/06/2009 08:31

Hello

I'm lurking, just not getting chance to post, sorry.

Quick one, lg&t, Glad things are better at home, B was delightful the day I saw you, (rekons lg&t makes it up) I know, I know, so was Maddie! anyroad up, gin, (obviously) wine, and a brioche cake called a Chinoise, they are devine if you like cakey/bready stodge. If you like a sparkling rosé then there is a bottle of fizz I have to bring back for friends it's fab and under 2 euros a bottle, it's called Muscador Rosé and will be with the fizzys in most supermarkets.

Jam the Dordogne is lovely, a couple of hours south of us, 6/8 years ago the Dordogne was the departement EVERY Brit wanted to move into. As a result of this there are alot of Brits there but consequently the region has alot to offer for tourists and familys. Sounds a lovely idea and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Where would you cross to? It's a fair distance from Northern France but not so bad into St Marlo or somewhere west.

Swimming with the school this morning. [joy]

MmeJaffaB · 25/06/2009 08:33

AprilMeadow · 26/06/2009 07:40

Good luck TMAM!!!

Woo hoo my friend has had her first baby at 04.34 today. She was in labour for 24hrs and baby Oliver weighed in at a whopping 10lbs!!!! I have my legs crossed just at the thought of it

Looks like i will be getting a refund on my MJ tickets then

MmeJaffaB · 26/06/2009 11:47

Congratulations to your friends AM... 10lb!

Sorry about your MJ tickets AM....I think in his time he was a legend but not so sure in the last 10yrs. Personally I don't get the MJ thing. (No stetson, boots or a guitar involved ) Dh was an avid MJ fan, would listen to nothing bad said about him. He is gutted.

School play tomorow.... really looking forward to it.

twelveyeargap · 26/06/2009 12:05

Just popped in to say that the Jag has finally been retired. Poor thing. I am the proud owner of a shiny black XC90. Hoooray! It has remote central locking that WORKS! All of the windows open and shut. The air conditioning does not only blow hot air (unlike myself). All of the children fit in the back without oldest child's knees being around her ears. The suspension actually suspends the chassis, as opposed to dragging the sump dangerously close to speed humps. The radio does not get stuck "on". I do not bump the childrens' heads on the low roof. It's 5 years old, not 15. I am in heaven. It does not accelerate like the old 3.4l Green Princess and despite it doing about twice as many mpg, I will probably get shouted out on the street. However, the pros definitely outweigh anything else. Hooray, hooray. I'm dying to "go somewhere" in it now and feel slightly put out that we have plans tonight that do not involve driving.

TMAM - Best of luck tomorrow. You are going to do brilliantly. You have done all the training, you are fighting fit and you will enjoy every minute of it. Well done! You've done the hard part already.

Shagwatch: Outcome of experiment so far has been that he now knows that it is not my "fault" (for not wanting to very often) that we don't get jiggy as often as he wants to. It's also a lot to do with him falling asleep on the sofa and not going to bed until after I'm asleep! Plus, the mentality of "just getting back on the horse" eases that pressure of expectation, iyswim. Not quite what I expected but it's been a useful exercise.

VISIT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hullo all.

My friend had her baby last night I had a text at 1.52 am from next door neighbour running down the road in pink fluffy dressing gown, to watch the older sleeping dc. The baby was born at 2.20am... A 40 minute labour same as Hugo!

A boy too Awwwww

Good luck TMAM!

B a nightmare, I MAY trade him in

AprilMeadow · 26/06/2009 22:43

Congrats to your friend LG&T.

Spoke to my friends dp and turns out she and babe have had a tough time. Epidural, vontouse etc etc then 5hrs later he gets taken to scbu due to low blood sugar. He will be there until tomorrow at least Sugars are ok at the moment but poor friend is having to make do with sporadic visits and cuddles. They hope to start bf'ing tomorrow as well. Am hoping for a cuddle on Sunday.

Dh goes off to the USA tomorrow for a week of tornado chasing in Colorado I havent ever been away from him for that long and we have been together 10yrs. Am dreading him going and have occasional leaky eye syndrome. Have to keep reminding myself that LG&T does this frequently, for much longer periods and has 7 children to look after.

SKYTVADDICT · 27/06/2009 08:39

Hi everyone

Also been lurking but no time to post.

Poor you AM - I am sure the week will go quickly - and you are allowed to cry.

Pleased the bug seems to have left you LG&T.

Car looks brill TYG. We have had a few probs with ours. Hoping it makes the south coast and the meet up! We are all looking forward to it.

DD1 has threatened for the first time this week to go and live with her dad! It was all a bit stressy at the time but now I can laugh about it as I am sure she would not stay long! The grass is most definitely not greener on the other side - although it may be a bit quieter (which is apparently part of the problem )

All well here apart from the usual runny noses, teething. C is speaking much more and much clearer and will still use the potty if no nappy on but can't seem to get past weeing in pants if we put them on him. Still early days.

L is crawling and they were arguing about a toy last night which made me laugh. C is such a gentle boy but was trying to stand his own without hurting L who was screaching at him and clenching his fists whilst holding tightly onto the toy. It was an usborne book with a fire engine that goes round a track and I got it for C with his birthday money. Felt a bit mean putting it away but can't be doing with them falling out already!
