Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
alkar · 03/11/2009 15:54

Been off line for a while aswell Gill, computer managed to get a few viruses and ended up in the shop. All ok now though

DS is now counting to ten, he mainly counts raisins! He has also decided to change his name from Daniel to Darryl very funny when you ask him what his name is!

Its just been hailstoning here and I have to go take DS to waterbabies soon. I have decided to stop when this course finishes as I hate going swimming this late and all DS wants to do is jump in (running jumps only) and climb out. Can do that for 20p at the local pool instead of the £12 per lesson we pay now.

Had my hai chopped off on Sunday, gone from long to a chin length bob, having it coloured bright red tomorrow too! Its my 34th birthday in a couple of weeks so I think its time for a hairstyle rather than just hair

How are you doing Sarah?

omy · 04/11/2009 20:33

Ah how reassuring to see you guys are still here. Sorry about my absence - work sucks up all my time. Half term last week and I almost felt normal by the end of it! I did no work at all so am massively behind now but hey - I needed to spend time on my own kids for a change - especially the middle DD - since LO was born she has had hardly any of my time. It was great to reconnect with her.

Sarah! Poor Rosie and poor you! You so have a right to be furious. I know a woman who had it undiagnosed until she was 20 - much worse for her - so at least it is being sorted now. And congratulations on your little boy babe.

Missnat - how touching to read your story of your FIL's passing - I had a similar experience with my uncle - cancer is so cruel. Another close relative had an operation yesterday and it is so very scary not knowing whether the cancer will come back. We are doing a fund raising cabaret in a couple of weeks as so many of our friends are suffering and the best thing for them is to throw themselves into something positive like fund raising. How annoying about Australia too - keep trying though - it will be worth it. My family all live there and we are going at Christmas for 3 weeks! I can't wait. It is nearly 5 years since we went last time - for my sister's wedding - it is SO expensive for a family of 5!

Merlypuss - of course we remember you - we remember everyone! how are the twins?

Gill - your climbing is making me jealous. Food is a funny thing - my sister has been staying with her 2 boys and the 2 year old eats only plain pasta and yogurt. My sister is trying not to stress about it as it only makes it worse!

strawberrycornetto · 04/11/2009 21:02

Hey all. Work shockingly bad so sorry for not being around.

Gil, we also have a raisin spitter. DS even climbed on a table, stole raisins from a tub, then still spat them out!!! DS eats pretty well though to be honest, I have been lucky in that regard as I was a terribly fussy eater and expected to get what I deserved.

Omy, know what you mean about work sucking up time. I was gutted to cancel being off with DD for the whole of half term. We had a good day on Friday, but I also had bronchitis and all in all it was a horrible week.

scarysarahandco · 06/11/2009 12:51

yay i amnol longer alone!!!! hello ladies, good to hear from you all, xxxx

hope everyone is well, xxxx

alkar · 07/11/2009 14:46

Very excited - going to see eddie izzard tonight with my sister. Anyone else doing anything nice this weekend?

missnatalie · 10/11/2009 23:04

Hi everyone,

Thought id quickly pop on whilst ive got 5 mins.

How you feeling Sarah? Hope everything is well with the pregnancy. DP and i have decided to ttc again after the wedding. Its quite exciting but i have to admit that it scares me too. I dont know how and if ill cope with 2.

Henley had a trip to A&E last week. He rammed a biro down his ear and it poured with blood for about 20 mins. Luckily he hadnt pierced his ear drum and was just given antibiotics and sent home.

Wedding plans are coming together but i have a feeling that im becoming a bridezilla. Im driving DP mad .

Can anyone recommend a good florist in the midlands? Thats the only thing ive not got.

omy sorry to hear about your uncle and now your relative. Cancer is a very cruel illness.

gill henley has also become a fussy eater. Hes driving me mental with it.

Well my 5 mins is up

Hope everyone is well xxxxxx

alkar · 11/11/2009 16:34

Poor Henley, glad he's OK now missnat.

Its very quiet on here...

scarysarahandco · 11/11/2009 18:29

hi miss nat and Alkar- god to hear from you bith,

Glad to hear Henley didn't do any major damage to his ear, and congrats on the ttc after the wedding! you will cope tbh 2 has been easier that when i just has harry!!!lol although we now have much less money- tell me why the hell i am havinbg DC 3!!!!

Rosies operation is going to be on jan 7th a month before her 2nd birthday!! i am going to be 32 weeks pregnant and i am dreading it!!!!i know it will ok but still i am scared shitless!!!!

hope everyone is ok, xxx come back if your lurking!!!

strawberrycornetto · 11/11/2009 22:20

Missnat, poor Henley, that sounds scary. Blood always looks so serious.

Sarah, I'm glad you have a date, at least you know what you arw working towards. You will cope, I think mums do because we have to.

Work slightly calmer this week. DD was 5 at the weekend so we had a lovely party for her. She has had a temperature/virus thing all week though and now I think DS has it. He's coughing and has a temperature. I so hope it doesn't go to his chest. I hate winter!

lljkk · 13/11/2009 09:56

Hello GhostZone Ladies .
DS was copying me earlier, I was sticking my tongue out and sucking it back in quickly with a loud slurpy noise, he thinks it's hilarious, and even tried to copy. First time I think he's come close to obviously copying anything.

He has been lining up bits of wood lately (Sigh). I sense enormous tantrums in future if we disturb his lines of wood/cars/whatever (I had that with DS2).

Nearly 21 months and still only says 3 words.

-

MissNat, A biro in the ear?! Wow. Nasty.

lljkk · 14/11/2009 19:14

Ok Ladies, a little poll to get ppl out of the woodwork:
What shoe size is your Feb08 child wearing? DS is in 4-4.5G.

scarysarahandco · 16/11/2009 11:04

rosie is a 6 G!!!! big foot !!!LOL

alkar · 16/11/2009 21:01

Another 6G here!

So quiet...

Feeling a bit miserable tonight. Had a horrible root canal on Wed and now part of that tooth has broken off. Going to make another apt tomorrow and can hopefully been seen tomorrow cos its my birthday on Wed and I'm not going then! I hope its fixable as I had to go private and its cost me £453

missnatalie · 17/11/2009 13:03

Hi everyone.

We have another size 6 here too.

Ive got my swine flu jab in an hour. Have no idea why they want me to have it as ive supposably already had swine flu when we got ack from spain in Sept . Although i never got the tamiflu stuff so maybe thats why........

Hows everyone doing? Im getting so excited about xmas. Last yr Henley didnt have a clue what was going on but this year he will. Im going to go mad . The whole house will be decorated so much that it will look BETTER than santas grotto . I really cant wait. Not going to buy him as much this yr though as ive got nowhere to put it. Plus its his b'day in Feb so he'll getmore stuff then.

DP and i have decided to move into his dads house in the new year too. He owns 50% and his sister owns the other 50% so were going to buy her out and move in. Its alot bigger that our place but needs about £30-40,000 of work doing to get it how we want it. Its still working out cheaper than buying something thats already done.

Things are all falling into place with the wedding now too. Just a couple of more things to sort and then ill be done. To be honest the whole experience of planning the wedding hs been hell. Trying to please everyone is impossible. We also discovered that alot of our families and selfish fukrs. Mainly being DPs mum. She was trying to take over and make the wedding the way she wanted it. I put my foot down though, thus why weve had a majour bust up .

Anyway must dash. Swine flu jab calls xxx

Gill79 · 19/11/2009 23:08

Alkar - how was Eddie Izzard? Must have been great. I saw Take That last night! They were introducing their DVD at the premiere and we had afterparty passes but had to get home early to relieve the babysitter so couldn't go the party

£12 for a swimming class is a bit steep. I haven't taken Malcolm for months and months and feel really guilty about it but it's just so boring as he only wants to sit on the edge of the pool and play with watering cans while I freeze.

Malc can count to ten as well (kind of) he always misses seven and loves six and eight and shouts six! eight! six! eight! all the time.

He is really into singing at the moment and loves singing along to himself "row row bo" "geekle geekle gickle darrr" I also spend a large part of every evening singing hickory dickory dock - has to be at exactly the right speed .

MissNat glad to hear Henley didn't do any damage with the biro.... you must have been scared for a bit! We're very good at keping all writing implements away from the young artist as he likes to make his mark all over the house... had a decorator in a couple of weeks ago and Malc helped with a pen....

Nice that you're going to have a new house to live in - I would love more space!

Omy and Strawberry sorry to hear work is so all-consuming . I'm struggling with three days and can't imagine having to do any more - must be a nightmare.

Lljkk I guess you know - so many children don't speak for a long time but if it is reassuring one of Malc's friends said virtually nothing at 2y3mo. "blue" "mummy" an various animal noises.

Had a horrible day today - three hours this morning with a plumber hanging round the house waiting to get the go ahead to start work from the building control officers (this has been a very long running thing) and when they turned up they changed their minds about things and we've got to investigate things and start more work. £800 and three days work and all we have is a slightly bigger hole in the ground and more confusion. Poor Malc stuck in with me all morning waiting so we walked to the cash machine - no buggy - was trying to take out £500 out of the cash machine to pay the plumber and Malc was having his worst tantrum yet rolling around on the pavement shrieking at the top of his voice. Had to carry him home and he was screaming and screaming and I just couldn't keep hold of him and was really worried he was going to throw himself down and bang his head. The afternoon was spent going to the council offices and sainsbury's - poor lad.

Me and DP off to the highlands at the weekend for a wedding and leaving Malc here with my parents. I think they'll find it hard work!

So...... can I conduct a poll? Who is going to give DCs the swine flu jab and who not? I'm feeling a bit hesitant!

scarysarahandco · 20/11/2009 08:04

Hi Gill,

have not decided on the swife flu jab for myself or for the dc's yet!!!! its such a huge decision!!!!

Rosie is also counding up to 10- and backwards from 4 shuting balst off- she has picked it up from Harry!!!LOL

she also sings most of the alphabet (we have a leapfrog magnet on the fridge) very clever little thing!!!

not sure if i have told you, Rosies operation is scheduled for the 7th jan at the b'ham childrens hospital, i am filled with dread but trying not to think about it too much, we will have a fab christmas snd the the count down begins!!!!(i will be 32 weeks and 1 day pregnant too!!!! what fun!!!!)

are you all ready for christmas? i am all bought and wrapped (apart from 4 more!!)just got to do a few family cards, i rather give to charity than send out hundreds of cards!!!!

take care everyone xxx

alkar · 20/11/2009 16:13

Shame about the take that afterparty gill. Eddie Izzard was really good and it was so nice to get dressed up - I actually put on mascara

Had my swine flu jab this morning and have a sore arm already. Will see how I go but if theres no side effects then DS will defo have it.

PJ party at DSs nursery this morning, took him in his mr tickle pj's dressing gown and slippers, so cute!

missnatalie · 21/11/2009 01:04

I had the jab the other day and all was well until the next day when i woke up feeling dreadful. I couldnt even lift my arms (had a jab in each arm. seasonal & swine flu). I felt like i had full blown flu and was cursing the doctors for making me have it. Only lasted 24hrs though and then i was back to normal. Not sure what to do about letting Henley have it. Ive had no side affects apart from feeling crap for 24 hrs but im an adult and his still a baby. I really dont know what to do.

alkar · 21/11/2009 08:00

My arm still hurts from swine flu jab but no other symptoms yet

Gill79 · 22/11/2009 21:11

No - not at all ready for christmas. Have bought two calendars and that's it. Though DP has decided on a shirt from the Boden catalogue We definitely can't afford christmas this year!

DP and I have been away for the night at a wedding in the highlands and left Malc with my parents. Very jealous of everyone else who had their babies with them (suddenly there are hundreds!) however I probably wouldn't have been on a space hopper in a high vis jacket drinking cava straight from the bottle at 2am this morning had he been there!

All sobered up pretty quick when we got back to our cottage though as my friend's husband came down with pancreatitis/ gall stones? and was suddenly on the floor unable to move with pain. Ambulance came pretty quick considering where we were but was absolutely awful while it lasted. I finally got to sleep at 6am after my friend called in from the hospital to say he was ok and then we were up at 8 to go and pick her up and then on to the airport to fly home - and this was after a 4am start the day before!

Malc seemed to have the best time ever with my parents - he was just so happy and relaxed when we got back it made me wonder if I ought to be doing more with him (he probably got 100% attention the whole time)

Sarah - the operation date is coming round quickly isn't it? (And hopefully that will mean the cast is off before you know it too) Will it be off before your due date? Going to get practicing with the alphabet this week!!

One of the friends who was at the wedding has a little girl born in November 07 who's just out of nappies. Yikes! Anyone considering potty training yet? Seems like way too soon for us.

scarysarahandco · 23/11/2009 14:13

wow gill eventful wedding !!!! Glad to hear you had a great time and that Malcome had a fab time with his grandparents too!!!

we were considering potty training as rosie tells us when she had wee'd and poo'd but due to the op its just not practical! and no her cast wont be off till about 5 weeks after due date Gill- it goes on on jan 7th, she will keep it on for 6 weeks then we go back and have it changed and she is exrayed etc (providing all is well she will go back into another cast for a further 6 weeks baby is due 8 weeks after 1st op!!!!! scary stuff- but heres to hoping 12 weeks with a toddler in plaster and a newborn flies by i think i will need a straight jacket and a padded cell !!!!!!!!!! oh and lost of help!!!!

hope your friends dh has made a good recovery must have been awful!

omy · 23/11/2009 21:47

Hi Guys, nice to read your news.

Alkar OUCH! Painful tooth and painful bill - why does the dentist have to be so expensive! It's ridiculous.

Gill - how nice to come home and find a happy boy. Leila really adores her 2 carers - it makes going to work bearable.

I am very excited as we are going to Australia for Christmas - 3 weeks of bliss! There are 5000 things to do before I leave though.

Sarah, Poor Rosie, 12 weeks! She will hopefully be brilliant about it - kids are amazing. Yes you will have to wait for potty training - how annoying.

They are not offering swine flu jabs to us here - only 'at risk' people.

Gotta go - supposed to be planning tomorrow! x

omy · 23/11/2009 21:48

Swotty - how are you doing?

scarysarahandco · 23/11/2009 22:06

wow omg so very jeleous of you trip!!!! have an amazing time, xxxx

Lovely to hear from you on here, its been very quiet!!!LOL

i am sure Rosie will adapt very well to the plaster cast but its going to be hard on the rest of us!!!! i am sure she will love all the extra attention she gets!!!little minx that she is!!!

omy · 27/11/2009 23:46

Hi Sarah, where IS everybody? Humpf! I just got home from a work 'do' at 11.30 to find 12 yr old on the internet while babysitter is asleep! Humpf!
Leila seems to be getting rather chunky at the moment - I wonder what the nannies are feeding her....hmmm
