Meant to say, I tend to put ds2's portion in a blender for a quick blitz as I think he's still fairly little and without enough molars to chew through the lasagne and the chunky veg.

I'll shut up in a minute, really I will. It's a really easy recipe especially if you've got a food processor gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere to chop all the veg in...

G you are a star, getting dd to eat anything at the mo is a battle. I an amazed that your ds will eat an adult sized portion. i seriously am q worried about dd's portion sizes. she eats little more than half a jar size portion anytime. she is on the 75th percentile line for weight though, and has never ever wavered. spose she's ok. and the eating thing at the mo is def her illness.

went to the hosp yesterday as the rash that she had from thurs - the one which the hv told me was prob viral, due to her temp - got much worse, into her hair, down to her toes - all over her. she was itching and crying and dreadful. they reckoned it was an allergy. god knows to what. she was crawling all over the grass the night before, but had had it since thurs. gave her piriton, to which she totally zonked out. couldnt believe that we managed to dress her and she didnt wake.....this has never happened. ! anyway, the rash went down after a few hours. today it was gone. until this afternoon when she got a little hint of it again. have come to the conclusion that tescos' easy iron fabric conditioner doesnt agree with her. have never used fc on her clothes before but did this week by mistake really. hmmm, think it must be that. was a dreadful mum and put a tiny bit of it neat on her back tonight, but nothing happened, well not before she went to bed, so still not sure if it was that. worried that the eggs she has been eating all week may be the prob, but she has had them so many times b4, the doc seems to think its not that. he just ummmed and aaahed and said 'i've never seen an allergic reaction so widespread over the body before.....hmmm, dont know what it could be.' aaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh

aaaaaaaaaaanyway, sorry, will shut up now.

are we having a june meet?

GeorginaA · 22/05/2005 21:07

He amazes me too! Can't work out how one small person can eat soooo much and not explode! Either that, or perhaps our idea of an adult portion is tiny?! Ds1 seems to be existing on air at the moment though, so perhaps between them they're eating a normal amount

That allergy thing sounds really scary. Can you not asked to be referred to an allergy specialist for properly allergy testing? Poor little mite!

Yes, we definitely need to organise a June meet. How about we start by copying out a list of locations of all of us adding our own, then I'm happy to work out where ground zero is if no-one else wants the job? I'll start:

Egypt that sounds really horrible. I totally sympathise. have had allergic reactions myself and wouldn't wish it on one so small. btw cool bathing with a little bicarb in the water helped me, if its making her itchy... as did lanacane cream.

I can tell you that my DD eats similarly small portions, when healthy... but lots of snacky thngs too. Now that she is starting to feed herself with a spoon she feels more independant and I think that helps but since seeing her sick up her lunch and breakfast yesterday I am a bit puzzled as to how so much actually gets into her.

My June has become a bit busy. I had let the meet-up idea slide from my mind I'm afraid. But I am near Edinburgh, for travelling purposes.

GeorginaA · 22/05/2005 22:10

Thinking about the appetite thing, ds2 has a virtually zero milk intake now (maybe half a bottle in the evening, and a third in the morning... I just stick cheese into everything and feed him a yoghurt a day!) - I wonder if that makes the difference?

Okay so we have:

an allergy spec sounds a good idea. have piritoned her again today but the rash has gone so should prob stop. except it makes her sleep . have an appointment back at the hosp on weds, although the doc said that if it was gone and she was fine to cancel. i want to go anyway just to check its ok and perhaps get referred. guess an appointment to see a spec will take ages.

eeek, i have like...ONE weekend free in june and thats the 10/11th. weekdays are ok for me though. but not lots of you guys.

egypt · 23/05/2005 13:18

new piccies

egypt · 23/05/2005 13:20

oh, they got put into alphabetical order not date, so you'll have to do a slideshow and watch them all!

spots · 23/05/2005 15:25

lovely Egypt; the one of her laughing in the pram is a real top-of-the-telly one...

10/11th June, needless to say, no good for me!

Perhaps we are a little bit late for trying to book in June. July or even August might be easier, people's holidays permitting?

kbaby · 23/05/2005 21:54

Libb, Im writing this before ive read the others replies so sorry if im repeating myself.
Firstly, dont stress about giving him jars. I home cooked all of DD's food and now shes started turning her nose up at it, I cant bear to see another sunday spent cooking being thrown out.My motto is that my weekends are for spending with DD not cooking. DD goes to my mil all day and I pick her up at 6, this is our typical day, Mil picks her up at 8am, gives her porridge, milk. Dinner is at 1pm and is either 3/4 jar or a pot of home cooked food, followed by a yougurt. Some fruit later on in the day. Tea is at 5pm and is another jar or pot of food. I pick her up at 6pm and bring her home where I give her weetabix, sandwich or some frozen veg. bath and then 7ozs milk for bed. If you want to give him something to eat at night why not just give him porridge and a yougurt. Both are quick and easy to do.
Youre really doing a good job.

DD only eats tiny portions and is so fussy, one day will eat fish pie the other day wont. I am now giving her more jars than ak foods as its heartbreaking throwing something ive slaved over for hours out. She tends not to eat with us as we dont eat until 8pm, once shes bathed and in bed. To be honest I havent a clue what of our food she could actually eat as we tend to live on rice and sauces from jars. DH said that DD eats better than him as she actually has dinner cooked with proper ingredients and lamb beef etc whereas we just have chicken with everything.
DD seems to have forgotten how to do anything this weekend, last week she could say quite a few words but now its just quack, quack and digger to absolutely everything. She used to be able to touch her head if you said 'wheres your head' but now we just get a blank look. Hope this is just temporary but her progress seems to have gone backwards. She is taking about 7 steps on her own now.
On the CC front were still going. Somenights she just wakes once for milk and the next she could wake twice. I know that we should stop giving milk but im trying to deal with a waking at a time. If she does wake she is still awake crying for about 1 hour. Bedtimes are still the same and it takes 30 mins of back rubbing and leaving the room if she plays just to get her to sleep. I think in the end after as leaving the room and letting her cry for 3 mins she thinks ' I may aswell give up'
Sorry for the essay.

Egypt- Hello! Sorry to hear about you little ones allergys Is everything okay now?

Welcome new people

Kiera has been eating EVERYTHING!!! It started because mother and i spent so much time eating out recebtly and i've just been giving her bits and pieces of my food. On Sunday she at 2 ENORMOUS pieces of trout AND a huge mound of homemade mashed potato and yesterday she ate a very large salmon fishcake, asparagus, chicken, fruit..i could go on! Very pleased, don't know if any of you remeber how stressed i was getting about her lack of food!

Anyway, we're taking kiera swimming this afternoon which i'm looking forward to, and then taking her out for dinner.
It's so exciting having a 1 year old isn't it? I'm far less anxious than i was about everything. Less worried about what to feed, what not to feed and less obsessed with routine. I feel alot happier in general and am FINALY starting to enjoy my baby Hurrah!

So who is trying for no 2 then? (no i'm not even thinking about it)

love to all
Missed ya!
xxxxxx

Hi all, could I gatecrash this thread??
I have DS who is 14mths old and only stumbled across MN a few months ago.......
It would be nice to share tips/advice and chat!!

egypt · 24/05/2005 19:29

welcome lizzylou - i'm egypt, dd is one on saturday, live near derby....

kbaby, dd used to say rabbab to her rabbit but has now forgotten. my hv said that they learn something, store it for later and then move onto something new. it'll come back. so NO your dd is NOT going backwards, infact she sounds to me like she is very FORWARDS. and will be writing essays with you before long . hey i'm the essay writer around here!

congrats on the eating cat!! that's great. i, like you feel much better about the fact she can eat just about anything now she's one. not that she does but we can all hope! i'm just not very adventurous in my foods and dd seems to get bored so quickly with even new things. eg, raspberries....mmmm, couldnt get enough of.....the first 3. then on the floor. grrr

aaaanyway, she is much better now. no more rash and still not sure what was the prob. not sure whether to take her to the hosp tomorrow or not now. i know the doc will think i'm wasting his time as he said to cancel if she was ok. which she is. i guess i should wait to see if it happens again in the near future and then sort out what it was and put this bout behind us.

I want another

how about you??

GeorginaA · 24/05/2005 20:37

Hi Lizzylou!

Cat: sorry my computer was playing up so badly the other day - couldn't get it to stay logged in at all

egypt: personally, I'd go to the doc and push for a referral. Maybe it's over protective mummy syndrome, maybe it isn't, but for peace of mind I think I'd want to get referred to an allergy specialist.

Twiglett: funnily enough, I went to see my (then) 6 day old nephew at the weekend. He was absolutely gorgeous and adorable and I'm sooooo glad he was someone else's and not mine . I was actually bowled over at how unclucky it made me feel and I'm fairly certain that we're "all here now" as a family. I don't want to go back to square one again with another baby, and I like our family unit as it is!

(btw, don't forget to add your location to the meetup list! - that goes for all the new recruits too ;))

Oh - I was meant to be organising this wasn't I? I am sorry - moving house and general lack of motivation for getting of my bottom and doing anything are my only excuses. I will e-mail all those who e-mailed me tomorrow I promise. And if I don't - you are all to flame me if I come on here.

June is bad for me because we move on 30th, but July is free so far. And I'm in Cambridge too.

GeorginaA · 24/05/2005 21:37

prufrock - don't be silly, you have the perfect excuse with moving house - you're STILL more organised than me! Are you sure you want to carry on arranging the meet? Am happy to do some organisation if things are still a bit hectic. Equally happy to bow out and let you get on with it if you'd rather

Linnet · 24/05/2005 21:53

Hi everyone, I haven't read all the posts but will do later.

Dd2 was 1 on Saturday, wow a whole year and we've all survived, lol.

We had a good day, we bought her the ball popping toy which she loves although I think dd1 likes playing with it more She got some clothes and more noisy toys. WE got her the chocolate caterpillar cake which she loved and we just had a great day.

She got her first pair of shoes the day before her birthday. What a struggle that was. As soon as the lady in the shop came anywhere near her feet she started screaming. All very odd but we finally managed to get them on her feet and they are fine, she looks so grown up wearing shoes.

she's still into everything, walks everywhere never sits still. Chatters away constantly, new words are away and she still says baw for most things although sometimes it sounds like boy usually when she's pointing at my brother.

But she's teething again and the nappy rash has flared up and she's got a cold. She's been really unsettled the past few nights and I don't think tonight is going to be any different

Glad to see that all the other babies that have had birthdays so far have had fun. I'm going to run and do everything I need to do incase she wakes up again.

bye for now.
