PolkSaladLucie · 12/05/2009 08:36

Ow, is that linked to not taking the tablets, MS?

thehouseofmirth · 12/05/2009 08:38

Morning!

MS poor old you (and LBB too). Hope you get quickly sorted. at least you know why you weed yourself though!

Dinky sorry to hear about your worries with DH though chances are it'll all be fine it must be a huge worry.

Best Friend is taking me out for lunch while DS1 at nursery today. Hurrah!

Mr T has also got another cold. I'd forgotten how many snuffles they get at this age.

Mr T is definitely in need of some entertainment. He has stopped screaming when I put him under his gym and weirdly enjoys me singing to him but I can't remember what else I used to do with DS1 (apart from talking to him, obviously). His head control is pretty good so I was wondering if it's too early for the door bouncer? He's 12 weeks tomorrow.

littleboyblue · 12/05/2009 08:41

thom Luke also seems to enjoy me singing to him, the freak. Ds1 never did, although he laughs at me now!
I can't really remember what I did with ds1 either, think pretty similar, just fed constantly!!
I've also been thinking of the door bouncer, but think Luke needs to beef up a bit more. He doesn't get much tummy time so his neck muscles aren't as strong as they should be, so am leaving that a while. I also suspect ds1 will start swining him, so may even be a bit dangerous in this house!

dinkystinky · 12/05/2009 09:31

Morning all. MS - what a crappy night Hope the antibiotics sort your infection out and F gets better soon - word of warning: your antibiotics might give him a slightly upset tummy resulting in green poos (that's what happened with DS1 when I had to have abs and it scared me no end) so at least if that happens you know what's causing it. I hate that this weather is so changeable at the moment - seems to be making more colds do the round, and making those colds last much longer too...

Lardy - hope DS was ok last night after his injections.

LBB - the lump sounds really odd; did it just appear over night? We have to wait to hear re the referrals for further tests - hopefully we'll hear when we get back from holiday.

THOM - sorry Mr T has another cold; I swear Danny has had one after another since he's born (at least it feels like it) and he and DS1 are playing cold-tag. Danny loves his baby gym - has for weeks - and also loves being held up to mirrors and smiling for hours at the baby in the mirror and being "bounced" gently off my lap (dont think his neck is quite strong enough for a bouncer yet). Like DS1 he's also into grabbing things so I've got some bits of fabric and a taggie as well as some cheap plastic links which he loves grabbing hold of and waving around. Would love to get him a door bouncer in a few weeks time but rather sure DS1 will want to try it out too and it will all end in very loud tears...

I just noticed the lump this moring when I was wlking to the kitchen and felt like I was floating
Sometimes in the morning my feet are rock hard and tight, very sore and hard to walk on due to whatever this itchy rash is that I'm still getting, so maybe just that........really must have my liver function test re-done.

Hope your dh's appointment comes through soon.

elkiedee · 12/05/2009 10:08

Sorry to hear of all the ailments and lumps among people on the thread and their loved ones, hope poorly people make a quick recovery and that all those tests come back with clear results.

LBB I don't do exercise though I do quite like walking, and I did enjoy Pushy Mothers although I was rubbish - I was straggling along way behind everyone else.

PinkTulips · 12/05/2009 10:10

ouch MS, hope you get some kick ass abs.... nothing more miserable than a bad uti

mslucy · 12/05/2009 11:12

elkie you weren't rubbish!
At least you didn't fall over all the time during the leg lifty bits.
I did find it a bit hard to keep a straight face but I will stick with it as I felt very perky afterwards.

am really enjoying being in the house with just Stan today. DS1 is at school until 3:10 and DH has gone to a meeting.

Have some writing work and a few calls to make as started doing a few bits again - all from home so no scary office stuff to cope with.

I put Stan down for the lovely nursery DS1 went to - not till next year though as I like having him around to cuddle and always regreted putting DS1 in nursery at a hideously young age.

elkiedee · 12/05/2009 12:15

MsLucy, how old was DS1 when he went to nursery then? Is he in a nursery class now? Conor will join my DS1 at the childminder at about 9 months. I gather two of the other women at the class are sending their dcs to the same nursery as you when they go back to work, and the class leader was saying how good she thinks council nurseries are.

I'm doing something else this Friday but think I will come back for more, though I want to dress more appropriately but without spending very much money to do so.

mslucy · 12/05/2009 12:45

DS1 went to a combo of private nursery (hideously expensive) and childminder (an old friend of dh's) from about 5 months until he was about 18 months.

Then he went to the newly opened Caversham Children's Centre at the age of about 18 months, which was brilliant.

They take babies from 4 months but because I work more flexibly than I used to I'm going to wait for a few months until he's about a year old.

I think the children's centres are great - the standards are high and there is a good social mix. DS1 made lots of friends at nursery and I think it was a very postive experience for him.

lardybump · 12/05/2009 12:48

afternoon all. Ds slept 12 hours last night. For the first time ever I woke up in a pool of milk and my boobs were killing me!! I managed to express 8oz milk and feed him this morning . I know it is just because of his jabs but it was so nice!! He is sleeping loads today as well only waking for feeds and he has not been sick very much at all......

I have also worked out how to get him to take a bottle. I have to heat it until it is really hot and then for some reason he will take it. If I try to give it to him at normal temp then he screams his head off and wont touch it. So I am doing that with an oz of milk with his gaviscon in it and he is taking it really well (much better than me squirting it down his throat!!!

I am going to get him weighed this afternoon so will see if he has gained this time...

One last thing I found blood in Owens nappy this morning it had clearly been in his wee. I called the Dr who said it was nothing to do with his Jabs but didn't seem that bothered about it, just said that If I am worried he can give me a sample bag to collect wee in to send off. Has anyone with boys ever had blood in there wee?

dinkystinky · 12/05/2009 15:09

Afternoon all. Lardy - glad Owen let you have a good night of sleep last night - hope he's still sleeping well today. Both Danny and DS1 had a tiny bit of what looked like pinkish blood in their wees at some point - Doctor said if its a one off not to worry.

Elkie, MsLucy - enjoy pushing this week and next on the Heath. I'll see you the Friday afterwards. Will be trying to do some outdoorsy stuff on holiday next week and not just drink lots of wine, french cider and eat french cheese all week.... though must get the packing done at some point in the next couple of days. Finding it v hard to motivate myself to do so.

littleboyblue · 12/05/2009 15:30

lardy When ds1 was very small, there was some pink in his nappy, the doc said it was nothing to be too concerned about. Keep an eye on it though, and if more than 1 nappy, I'd get wee tested.

Ds1 also wouldn't drink milk unless it was quite hot. Luke isn't too bothered, but does prefer it warm.

I've not long gpt back from my pushy mums class. Was really good, the instructor was lovely and made us all feel very comfortable. There were 7 of us. 18 had signed up.

mumoverseas · 12/05/2009 16:50

hi all, just briefly catching up before bath and bed as feeling a bit crappy tonight, think I need some vitimin/iron tablets.
Hope all those with health problems, especially MS and LBB get sorted soon and Dinky fingers crossed for your DH.

Just had to share with you DD's new version of baa baa black sheep which had the line 'one for the bastards and one for the dame' in it. DH and I had to try very hard not to wet ourselves laughing!

elkiedee · 12/05/2009 19:49

MOS, where did your dd learn that from? I love it!

LBB, glad you enjoyed your class.

MarkStretch · 12/05/2009 20:20

LOL MOS!

The antibiotics are starting to work and I've stopped weeing every 5 minutes. Am shattered though and F is really snotty so going to have an early night, no doubt I will up for most of it weeing and feeding snotface.

On the plus side, my next door neighbour runs a catering business supplying cakes and lunches to offices in the city and she's asked if I would help her out by doing some baking and she will pay me money. So I can stay at home and get paid for making cakes.

Heaven

PolkSaladLucie · 12/05/2009 21:34

Awesome MS sounds like my ideal job. Is it going to be a long term thing or just for a bit of cash while you are on Mat leave?

He he MOS I don't think I'd have been able to keep a straight face!

lardybump · 12/05/2009 21:50

MS I would pay you to supply cakes for me............ ummmm lemon cake....

littleboyblue · 13/05/2009 05:36

Morning. Up at 5am again here.
MS Glad the AB's are working. Mine aren't and it's the second course for this same infection.

I went to bed early last night. I was exhausted yesterday.
I'd put ds1 to bed, we've been sitting in with him whilst he falls asleep or else he's been screaming so loud and hard, you'd think he was being beaten. But last night he was jumping up and down in the cot and wouldn't lay down and was still screaming like that so I thought I might as well leave him to get n with it, he'd soon get bored and go to sleep. I'd go in every few minutes to show he hadn't been completely abandoned, but dp said that he'd sit with him, I said just leave him, he said no, so we have row and I go to bed.
Now he's bitching about how many times he's been up with Luke in the night. There was nothing stopping him waking me was there? Prat.
Anyway. Got drop in play group this afternoon. They're laying on dinner for the littlies, doubt ds1 will eat any, but we shall see.

littleboyblue · 13/05/2009 07:12

My body aches from yesterday. The instructor said that sugar is the last thing to burn away so after 2 days we'd feel the muscle ache from lactic acid? Or something like that and we need to go for a 20 minute walk to work it out of the blood stream. I can feel my ribs are a bit sore.
I was really pathetic at it. I couldn't even lift my middle body off the ground!

Think I'm going to go and sit in a hot bath with my book for a while while Luke is asleep and let's hope ds1 can keep himself occupied for a while without throwing things in the bath.

littleboyblue · 13/05/2009 08:26

Anyone else thinking of moving onto hungry baby formula (ff babies only, obviously )
I don't think that eating this much this often (6oz 3 hourly) can be very good for him, so now that we are out of the colic stage, when this current tin of powder runs out, I'm going to give hungry milk a go.
What does everyone think?
There's no reason not to try it is there now we are over the colic?
Or do you think I should just continue to feed him 3 hourly? It is a bit of a PITA, but it's manageable, so I'm not thinking of the switch because I can't be arsed to feed that often, it's more because I think that him eating that often must put alot of strain on his digestive system?
Opinions please

thehouseofmirth · 13/05/2009 08:36

Morning! Before I catch up on posts can anyone quickly help? Just realised my MOT expires today. So does that mean I am un-MOT'd as of now or from tomorrow?

littleboyblue · 13/05/2009 08:56

If the expirey date is today, then I'd say tomorrow. But I'm not sure. If you don't have any previous driving offences, I'm sure that if you were pulled over on the way to the PO, the officer will show some sympathy, they will then check in a week or so you've had it done............

elkiedee · 13/05/2009 09:09

LBB, from memory with ds1 (he was formula fed), I think it's better to stick with feeding him 6 oz 3 hourly. I thought hungry baby formula was made with ingredients that are harder to digest. DS1 was much smaller than DS2 at birth, lost a lot of weight at the beginning hence ending up on formula, and then just grew huge very rapidly, I think he was probably having 6 oz in his bottles by 3 months and it was 7 oz not that long after (it was far more than it said on the tin). I wouldn't think frequency of feeding would affect strain on the digestive system as much as what it's asked to do.

littleboyblue · 13/05/2009 09:35

Ok elkie Thank you. Interesting. Ds1 was also a very hungry baby, but he was alot bigger than Luke, but I never went onto hungry milk with him.
