Whinegums, good luck with the cc, 50 mins is really not that bad at this age on the first night. You are right that you need your sleep and time to yourself, and he will be happier for it too! But be careful, he will learn that you don't respond to his cues (that is something my ex-FB friend said to me a while back )

Ali, that sounds fab, I would love to have a child-free day on the hospitality at the tennis . You will have such a great time.

ktpie, I think we are all lazymummies here at times (a lot of the time ).

Amber, you really do make me laugh! Glad Luke liked his liver pasta (does sound gross tho)

Great to hear from you again Rolf and good luck with the Clomid Puree. Here's hoping for twins!

Good luck tomorrow Sponge. And thank you so much for saying my friend was talking bollox. I was kind of scared you'd all say 'actually you are smug and conceited' I know I am a bit direct sometimes and perhaps I am a bit too 'happy' on FB and I suppose if you are not happy that would irritate, but I'd expect friends to be happy for me. Well, after speaking to my sisters and mum today they say she is obviously jealous and bitter and that I am better off without her in my my life. So I have written her a long email to say how I don't think she should expect anyone to censor their FB just because she might get upset - she should just stop using it - and I have asked her not to contact me again . I am just too upset about what she wrote in that email today.

She said she resented having to fit round a Gina Ford routine to speak to me on the phone. She said I come across as hard and unsympathetic on FB, and that she is happy that my kids are progressing well, she just hates the way I say it . Not sure how I am supposed to say 'Esther took 6 steps' in a more sensitive way . And she even criticised me for writing about my kids when her friend (also a friend of mine on FB but I have only met her a few times) is having IVF and I should know that my posts would upset her - ffs!

Anyway, thank you all so much for your support over the last couple of days.. it has really meant a lot to me .

whinegums · 11/06/2009 23:25

Thanks all.

Neenz, I didn't say before, but I agree with what everyone else has said about your friend. Of course it's very hurtful and confusing. I don't think you are smug and conceited! What's wrong with being happy? And I really don't understand the hard and unsympathetic bit.

Well, after 50 mins, B slept for about 2 hours, and then he's been crying since about 10 now - 1hour 20 mins. Help Neenz, what do you mean about him learning I don't respond to his cues? I'm petrified I'm doing this wrong, and he's going to be permanently traumatised.

I've had a bit of a strange night, I'll post about it tomorrow, my head is a mess right now. Going to try and get some sleep....

AliandHerScallywag · 12/06/2009 00:34

Whinegums hope you r ok. What happened next? About to go to sleep, but will check in in the morning. You won't damage him: Neenz was being sarcastic about her frenemy. HUGS

abdnhiker · 12/06/2009 07:34

neenz definitely agree with viva about not particularly looking at your FB page. I've hid lots of people that I'm friends with from my FB main page (mainly relatives who do nothing but stupid quizzes).

bdq we used to be in a council area and there was lots of fuss about my boys' weight. Now we're in a middle class area and the health visitor told me "they're not small at all, we've lots of skinny kids around here". We watched Duncan's peers being given cola and marshmallows before they were one too - made me feel a bit ridiculous that I was refusing to give him juice. I've lightened up this time and Fraser is allowed very diluted juice .

I did go in and drop my laptop with IT so now I have all day guilt free with the boys! Aside from the gross crusty mess on D's chin, he's totally fine and happy.

ktpie those 0-4 seats can be turned around between 9-13 kg. But you can leave them rear facing in those until 13 kgs, it doesn't matter if their legs hit the seat and it's safer than front facing. It's also much nicer for them to be rear-facing in those than the infant ones as they are more upright and get a great view out the back window. DS1 loved sitting backwards and seeing everything. We are moving Fraser into that seat (rear-facing) as soon as I get off my bum and buy a new forward facing seat for DS1. I was kind of hoping to move into the next stage like all his friends but DS1 is still only 12 kgs (and Fraser's 8.3 kgs, I just weighed him on my scale!). It is so much nicer for my light boys to be able to see out the window than stuck in a infant seat!

whinegums I don't think you can damage him Are you checking on him? I always feel that then they know I'm listening and there, but I feel that their behaviour is unreasonable (which is true). My kids are the give them an inch, they'll take a mile type anyways.

abdnhiker · 12/06/2009 07:45

Oh and I forgot the best news - Josey emailed and said she's super busy but Oli's EEG showed that she wasn't really having seizures any more so they can decrease her meds.

pureeandpearls · 12/06/2009 08:20

Fantastic news about Oli!
Good luck Sponge- post immediately xxxxxxx

Morning all- dashing of to photo thing see you later

whinegums · 12/06/2009 09:08

Morning, B fine this morning, will post more later, but got to dash to mini music makers (I am always late for it!). Excellent news about Oli.

AliandHerScallywag · 12/06/2009 10:06

Glad B fine.

Great news about Oli.

Been meaning to say Puree (but forget when online) good luck with the chlomid. Hope that it helps.

ktpie · 12/06/2009 10:43

Ali - Queen's sounds great. Hope it's nice and sunny for you, I think the forecast is pretty good for this weekend.

I am totally behind on decent TV, we just have the basic freeview and last week somehow we lost ITV and Channel 4, which is a bit annoying. Everyone else is getting more and more channels, we end up with less.

Sybil - glad Jamie had a good birthday, and yeah I did think about it later and decide that fish fingers must actually be fairly healthy, just fish and some bread crumbs. Probably better than the ikea elk salami he had a taste of at lunch time (only the very smallest piece), oh and I came downstairs last night to find DH giving him a bit of Skegness Rock the neighbours had brought back (again only a tiny tiny bit - but still!), at least he has no teeth to rot! On that subject I had a dentist appointment this morning and he had a look at J as well and he is now registered with the dentist and has to go back in 6 months (hopefully he will have teeth by then), both me and DH are missing 4 teeth each so he hasn't got genetics on his side as far as teeth go which I think is making me keener to see at least one tooth.

BDQ and Abdn - it should have occured to me before now about the seat, I realise that they get more support when stopping suddenly if they are rear facing, I just thought he doesn't fit anymore so turn it round. Will try and weigh him to check, thank you!

Sponge - when I say nap I mean I close my eyes in exhaustion but I am still fairly concious of what J is up to, if you know what I mean, I manage to kind of drift off for minutes at a time in between removing him from whatever unsuitable object he has found, but still it helps and after half an hour of doing that I feel a lot better. I do make some attempt to make sure he is somewhere safe and there isn't anything dangerous around first.

Amber - I guess we do have a vaguely healthy diet so I guess (eg rock and elk salami) that helps with feeding him, in the dark ages that I live in without ITV and Channel 4 we also don't have a microwave so can't take that option.

Whinegums - hope everything went OK last night.

Neenz - your friend really is being a self centred twit.

Thank you all for saying you are glad I'm back! Made me feel all smiley! The length and boringness of this post will make you all quickly change your minds.

Should be getting off so sorry I've not said hi to everyone, we are going to a gym session, we went about a month ago when J was only just crawling (he was too small really but I stupidly thought it was just a baby group) but he did get 'well done' stamps on his hands for good trampoline work and doing a forward roll in front of the class! I think he will enjoy it more now he is more mobile!

ktpie · 12/06/2009 10:43

Oh and good news about Oli!

Amberc · 12/06/2009 11:52

Great news about Oli - really wonderful! Also looking forward to more great news from Sponge - is she going to find out the sex?

Neenz - my liver pasta doesn't sound as grim as Clomid Puree! (tee hee - that's how I read your post anyway!)

Amberc · 12/06/2009 11:53

Here's the line for those thinking I have gone mad...

'Great to hear from you again Rolf and good luck with the Clomid Puree.'

bitofadramaqueen · 12/06/2009 12:55

whinegums how are you today?

Thanks abdn I was worried you'd all think I was being a bit snobby, when I really am so not!

neenz you absolutely cant censor your fb just because someone somewhere might be offended. It's not like you put 'woo hoo, I'm pregnant' when a close friend had just told you she could never have children or something. Of course people should be sensitive those that are close to them, but if you had to take into account every possible thing that might be difficult for someone you know there wouldn't be any kind of online community. I hide people on my FB all the time (not any of you lot though )

Fab news about Oli of course!

to everyone else, and drums fingers impatiently waiting for Sponge to come back.

Rolf · 12/06/2009 13:09

BDQ this is the rag doll website: www.niceragdolls.co.uk/. I've used them a few times and been very pleased with the dolls and the service.

Great news about Oli

Whinegums hope you feel better this morning.

We watched The Wire last year and loved it although it meant our language became even fouler than usual! We're now enjoying The West Wing (we don't get out much!) so are more polite and say "OK" a lot

spongebrainmaternitypants · 12/06/2009 13:17

Hellllooooo, it's me - sorry to post and run but we're off to the pub!

20week scan was amazing - and we're expecting a little brother for Alex .

Ohmigod - I'm having another baby!!

catch up with everyone else's news later xxx

PiggyPenguin · 12/06/2009 13:19

Where is Sponge???? Hope she realises how anxious we all are on here

While I am fairly confident J hasn't made the weight for his car seat it doesn't really matter as he is such a shorty he is no where near the top of the backrest for his baby one anyway. Like Viva I will be going to school with a tiddler sized five year old!

DebInAustria · 12/06/2009 13:19

Yippee Sponge -are you going to call him Bill? My 2 boys are such good friends So pleased everything is OK, can you stop worrying now?

PiggyPenguin · 12/06/2009 13:20

x-posted!! fab news sponge!

Amberc · 12/06/2009 13:34
