Wait til they bring home someone hideously unsuitable neenz!!

You should have seen some of the guys I dated - I kissed many frogs before I found my prince!

neenztwinz · 15/05/2009 17:22

Me too Sponge!!

Rolf · 15/05/2009 17:24

Neenz nah, DH isn't subtle like that .
I don't think my boys are too perfect or anything, I just see little boys next to their female contemporaries and the boys always seem so artless compared to the shenanigans of the girls, and I can imagine the girls bewildering, then upsetting them.

Glad it went well with the childminder. I can't type CM without thinking cervical mucous!

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 15/05/2009 17:48

Amber So sorry for your sister, she will really love to see you. Even if you are a blubbering mess your presence will help more then you could imagine.

sponge Fab news about the heartbeat. Are you going to find out what it is?

Neenz Thanks for the camping advice. Think I have far too a romantic idea as we only have a tent, roll mats and sleeping bags! Must get some more kit! Also our first trip away is to a small site with no electricity or hot water, just some toilets. No doubt I will post in a couple of weeks about my terrible trip!

Of course no one will be good enough for my perfect son

spongebrainmaternitypants · 15/05/2009 18:06

going, yes, we will find out - have a private 20 wk scan booked for 12th June so will find out then, if baby is being cooperative of course!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 15/05/2009 18:12

Amber how desperately sad for you, let her cry and cry with her. Is Mark going with you so you have someone to lean on.

Neenz good news about a possible CM

I will be very gratefull to anyone who will be able to cope with Edie when she is older but then again that is what my mother said about me.

neenztwinz · 15/05/2009 19:21

lol Five! I have three sisters and along with Mum I would like to think we are five pretty fiesty women and quite a handful for any men! They have to be quite special to be able to cope with us . I would be upset to think of Theo or Esther being hurt by the oppostie sex but from my memories of my teens it was the boys who ran rings round the girls not the other way round!

Oh dear, Going, that camping trip sounds... challenging! I have to have electric so I can have cold wine , and a good toilet/shower block is top of the list when I am looking for campsites. How long are you going for? The problem is if it rains, if the sun is shining you can cope with anything (pretty much), but that is not a given in the UK by any stretch as you know! The kids will love it anyway. Take lots of waterproofs .

Sponge, it is so exciting! Glad you are finding out the sex, I am too impatient to have to wait.

Amberc · 15/05/2009 19:48

No five I need to go alone because we have no child care Hey thanks for all the thoughts everyone. x

Amberc · 15/05/2009 19:50

PS I know what's wrong with me - I have a severely underactive thyroid gland. Explains everything - all my fatigue, fat tummy, low mood etc etc. I am a bit surprised that i had to go on the internet looking up symptoms to get some action though (and get private blood tests £202!). At least I can get treated now.

DebInAustria · 15/05/2009 20:36

Amber - our thoughts will be with you and your sister next week. What an awful thing to have to go through, I feel so sorry for her and her husband. It must be comforting for her that you're going to be there.
On a positive - that's good that you've got a prognosis, what's the treatment?

Sponge -looking forward to June 12th already!

Neenz - glad the CM was nice,

Rolf -lol at cervical mucous, you trying to tell us something? ttc #5 eh?

Going2 -rather you than me with the camping

Sybil - you dug quite a big hole didn't you?

Everyone - thanks for all the supportive comments about me needing some child care for Ethan. Now I have to arrange some

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 15/05/2009 21:10

Amber That's good you have a diagnosis. Hope you feel better soon.

Neenz Good to hear you like the cm.

We are camping very close to home, about 20 min drive. There isn't a great choice of sites around here so I went with the cheapest - hence no showers! - it's only £16 for two nights. The one with showers and electricity was over £50 which I thought was way to much as we may hate it and go home after 2 hours!

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 15/05/2009 21:11

Meant to add Debs I'm really impressed you have managed so long without childcare, you derserve to get some!

Sponge I'm also impatient and would love to know what you are having!

DebInAustria · 16/05/2009 08:44

Going2 - sounds like it's worth it at £16 for 2 nights. Hope you have a great time.

How's the weather in the UK today? Raining here, but museums are free in Austria today so boys are off to do an archaelogy thing at a Celtic museum this afternoon.will be glad to get rid of Stefan provide an educational opportunity for Stefan today. he's driving me mad, Rolf is your eldest ds9?

Amberc · 16/05/2009 13:12

I think the treatment is hormone tablets - got a docs appointment on Tuesday so fingers crossed!

neenztwinz · 16/05/2009 13:45

Good luck Amber, it's great when you work out these things - like now I have realised it was Esther's bum bothering her all along everything has clicked into place. She'd been waking up at 6.30am crying, not like her at all, usually it's 7.30am and she just chats in her cot. Anyway now her bum is getting better she has started waking later and not screaming! Happy days.

Going, two days is doable without elec and showers (though I still would have splashed out the extra ), will you take a cool box with freezer packs in to keep your food cold? Do you have a bbq? Table and chairs? You'll need a stove too with a kettle to make a brew. What I do is the day before we go I have a think about everything I do (ie making a brew, feeding the kids, feeding myself, what cutlery/sharp knives/tin openers etc I use) and think whether we'll need them while we're away. I just throw stuff in a bag as I go.

Deb, lol at getting rid of Stefan!! Did he enjoy it? I can't wait till the DTs are older and we can do cool stuff with them like museums and football games. I was looking at pics of them when they were newborns last night and was feeling really sad that they were no longer that small and cute - but equally I am impatient for them to get older! People are so right when they say 'enjoy them cos they grow up so quick' - it doesn't feel like it at the time but when you look back you realise they do and you never get that time back.

I am very pleased with myself today - I have been to the garden centre and done our hanging baskets and potted some evergreens in some pots we have out the front. It has only taken me two years to get it sorted (was kind of busy this time last year and never got round to it ). The fella at the centre said it was a bit early to do the hanging baskets - I was well chuffed, usually it's August before I think 'damn, we never got those hanging baskets done'

poppy34 · 16/05/2009 20:49

hi everyone - just trying to catch up now not so tired so massive apologies to anyone I forget. Edie's crawwling/tryign to walk (in an inept way) seems to be in full force this week whcih is why I think we've had some wakeful nights (that or she is clealry a eurovision fan) - and yes neenz it is a wonder week...

and for those of you who thought there might be a nice reason for my recent sickness etc sadly it just seems to be a bug/work - oh well will keep on trying . At least I know the hidepously expenisve monitor works

amber I really hope monday is ok - I wouldn't worry about crying - I had a good cry on my sister who was just lovely when I lost my little boy. And lovely names too - its good that she named them and is having the funeral as that does help. Also good re your diagnosis as that must be comforting.

neenz glad cm hunt is going well so far -I think the instinct think about feeling comfortable with them is really important. And deb it sounds like a break for you would be good. How was the free museum day today (fwiw weather here was shit and it was rubbish going into town as was full of drunken rugby fans).

sponge books are a good present - I've loved getting the books I liked for edie (shameless attempt to try and influence her ). so far richard scarry and madeline books have been most popular of the ones I've tried to read her - but I've high hopes regarding the thomas the tank engine ones (I refues to read the new ones with the helicopters in). And I'm also waiting for 12th june. essiethat link looks very good indeed.

and neenz and sponge may I just put a vote in for how lovely and charming edie is ? joking apart we're struggling with dss g/f.. knowing that saying something will just make it last longer but not being able to stop yourself is a real battle! (and yes sponge I had my fair share of real winners too so I've just blocked that out of my mind with edie and hope she is happy/finds the right person in time).

waves to rolf sybil goingfore viva and anyone else I've missed.

DebInAustria · 16/05/2009 20:52

Neenz - the time goes so fast , NIgel was just saying that today looking at Ethan today and how much he's changed in the last month or so.Stefan and Tristan enjoyed the museum, they were working with skeletons!! We left them there for 2 hours, and we walked around the town and enjoyed a coffee whilst Ethan slept in the pushchair. Then we had chinese which was a real treat, there's one in our nearest town but it's awful, this one was really nice, then to a big pavement cafe for ice cream. It was a really lovely trip out.
Well done on your gardening

Amber - hope the treatment takes effect soon, and you begin to feel the benefit.

Anyone else watching Eurovision?

poppy34 · 16/05/2009 20:56
