I don't normally put mussels in it mm, but got a pack of assorted seafood in my asda visit. I normally just use prawns and scallops! I don't like mussels either.

Expecting a bad night here too, as ds already woken 3 times and still rumbling a bit. Teeth the culprits I believe.

Oh, and yes ronshar - ulcers all gone. Medicine was hideous but effective.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 06/05/2009 22:36

Ronshar I used hand blender but it was not mixing it because the quantity was too low. I felt it was still too lumpy given that I've only just started weaning her so I pushed it thro the sieve. Goddamn AK told me to peel them. Bitch.

I'm off to bed, soooo tired after my trip to work, night all!

Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 22:38

I thought the Bee got rave reviews! Oh well, the Quinny stays in the car and I use the Stokke for walks. I'm a gigantic 5ft 3 so no worries about the height for me! The Stokke is a bugger to fold but it is very comfy for M. Plus she's right up high so I can chat to her and she's away from dogs, car exhausts and the shit which seems to have returned to the streets by the tonne! Oh bugger. M's awake again an I'm in the bath ony iPhone. It's going to be a bad one ladies. Night all.

ronshar · 06/05/2009 22:51

HMM poor AK, she is trying her best to help.

MM, its ok, you dont have to explain. I know what you mean about the dog poo. We walk to school most days and DD2 calls one strech of path the dog poo place. Bloody old people, cant be bothered to bend over and pick up precious's poop. Gggrrrr.

CSWS, great, are the children all fixed too?

Marthasmama · 06/05/2009 23:03

I thought you were telling me off CSWS style Ronshar. Poor old M is really suffering tonight. Bloody teeth.

ronshar · 06/05/2009 23:08

I try to keep my obsessive OCD pushchair issue to myself. It gets out every now and then but mostly I just glare at women with those pushchairs I consider to be plain wrong. So carry on as you are

aubergenie · 06/05/2009 23:11

That's funny, I was just going to ask about the Quinny. Went to Mothercare to look at them yesterday and was surprised to see that the seat didn't go back (plus no shopping basket) and wondered if that would be a problem. It does fold lovely and small though. I can see how it would work for short trips, but I want to get a buggy that folds up really small to take on holiday as we're going camping and will have quite a lot of stuff in the boot of the car. Anyone got any suggestions? It also need to have some sort of hood or sunshade.

I've got a Bugaboo Bee and, I really don't think it's as great as everyone says - I don't know why people rave about them. It's nice and small and nippy, so good for public transport, but it's fiddly and awkward to fold/adjust etc.

Star - Your trip sounds like a nightmare. School trips are stressful enough for staff without having all that discomfort as well.

Glad the feeding's going well for so many people. I had to turn S upside down and slap him on the back today because he had a choking fit and couldn't breathe. It turned out he had managed to get a piece of avocado skin stuck in his throat. I'd given it to him a slice with the skin on as I thought it would be less slippy to hold and hadn't realised he was able to quite bite so effectively with no teeth.

I think we're in for a long night tonight too. I've already had to administer Calpol to help his poorly gums.

ronshar · 06/05/2009 23:19

Flipping heck Aubergenie, well done. A full on panic inside no doubt.

See what I mean about the pushchairs[he he].

ronshar · 06/05/2009 23:23

Have you looked at one of those skinny folding ones, normally about £40-£50? Mothercare have several diff ones. Most fold back and also have shopping basket underneath. Handy for using on holiday and quite easy to sell on if you dont want it after. Although with your skull carrier you may not need another pushchair

Off to bed, should have gone ages ago. Rubbish.
Night.

jenwa · 07/05/2009 09:05

ronshar lol re your pushchair thoughts. I just got rid of my big pram, I loved it, it was bulky and heavy and took up sooo much space but DD was comfy in it but I now have a maclaren buggy and I got a Icoo pico which is really snuggly for her too (both of ebay). I just miss her facing me now but could not justify 3 pushchairs plus still got a double buggy int he shed .
Have given my big pram to a friend who is expecting as it is soo nice for a tiny baby.

aubergenie poor your and DS that must have been scary! Glad he ok though.

Good night here, have changed bed time slighty and they both got up at 7:30 so thats better. I was putting them to bed too early and they were waking early so have shifted it around 7 -7:30 now.

Need to go to town and get DD1 new shoes today.

star6 · 07/05/2009 09:53

Pushchairs - I got a mamas and papas lunamix which folds nicely and is very cosy (with snap/zip on cosy toes so I don't even have to buckle him in yet . I love it. But I also use a tiny maclaren umbrella buggy and a babies r us umbrella buggy (both off freecycle!!) a lot for short trips into shops...etc.

Ronshar - Yes, my heart was in my mouth for a while and ds was a bit shocked, but fine after a big cuddle.

That Luna Mix looks nice Star. The other issue we've got is that we live down some narrow steps and round a corner, so lots of buggies just don't fit, which is another reason we got the Bee (plus I wanted one that would face both ways, which limited our options even further). I think I'll end up looking for one of those skinny ones Ronshar. I think it'd be fine.

CSWS - Have you got that teething necklace yet?

Oh yes, and Loulou - I checked out those Gardens you went to. Amazing!

Oh and any Ebayers out there - have you had much success selling baby stuff? I've got a friend in a desperate financial state at the moment and I was going to offer to stick some of her old baby clothes on Ebay for her while I'm doing my stuff, but it doesn't look like you get much for it. It's mostly Next, Mothercare, Tu and other brands like that, rather than designer. Do you think it's worth it?

Marthasmama · 07/05/2009 10:38

Aubergenie - Would you not be better off with a baby carrier? M loves hers, she chats away to plants, trees and people walking past. She always seems to enjoy looking out at the world and loves a cuddle when she's feeling tired. I have a Bjorn but it is not very comfortable so I have been looking for one that is more comfy (but also comes in great fabric as I am such a tart). Oh and it needs to be reversible so DH can use it too. Poor S, good job he has such a calm quick thinking mummy. I am an eBay loser so I can't help on that front.

star6 · 07/05/2009 10:51

aubergenie - how scary!! I know how you feel, been there. It makes me not want to give anything with a lump ever again.

pepperrabbit · 07/05/2009 10:56

aaagh. DD fell off the sofa this morning. Am kicking myself for leaving her on it - propped up as normal cos it's safer than the floor when the DS's are not getting dressed. Nipped upstairs for my jumper and heard her wailing hurtle downstairs screaming "what happened" sending DS's flying in my wake. They are men oblivious!
She seems OK but my heart stopped, I could just see her little feet on the floor. She was VERY cross, wasn't sick and was soon her usual bubbly self but I've been a nervous wreck all morning.
stupid stupid stupid.

Oh Pepper, can I join the stupid club too? I left Poppy sitting up and inadequately propped in her cot this morning, turned round and she'd fallen sideways and hit her head on the side of the cot. A long white strip appeared on her forehead. Scared me shitless.

I rang the docs and spoke to the triage nurse, said she'd not been knocked out and seems ok now. She said if she vomits more than once to take her to hosp. She's been fine and the mark has disappeared.

I am supposed to be cleaning the bathroom while my mum looks after Poppy, I've never typed in marigolds before.

Honeymoonmummy · 07/05/2009 11:28

Oh and I had about 3 hours sleep last night, due to Poppy, not DH's snoring!

aubergenie · 07/05/2009 11:35

Aww, poor DD Pepper. Glad she seems alright though.

MM - I think you're right - I do need a(nother) carrier. That's why I was looking at those Rose and Rebellion ones. I've got a Kari-me, which was lovely but S is SO heavy now, it pulls on my back when he's in the front position. I think I need to carry him on my back now and I can't get him into the Kari me on my own . Those R&R ones are reversible, so DH can just wear the plain black. I started a thread on it, and people have said that they are really comfy.

Pistachio - I was looking at the Ergo as well. how do you find it?

Star - It's funny because, although it was scary, I'm kind of glad it happened because I know what to do now and I know I didn't freak out.

I had a shit night too Hmm, as predicted. I'm surviving on sugar this morning.... She was up at 9.30, 10.30, 12, 1 - 2.30, 4, 5.30 and finally 7. I managed to be calm through it all! I gave up trying to put her back in her cot after the 10.30 waking, in the end she would only sleep snuggled right up on my shoulder. Not very safe but she just screamed if I moved her. It was nice to be woken up by M stroking my face and blowing raspberries on my cheek though. Was P just unsettled?

Pepper - I like the fact that dd was angry more than anything else. Sounds like M! They are so bouncy at this age, it would have hurt us far more....

Oh and M threw herself backwards off my shoulders yesterday and I was just holding her by her legs. I thought she would be upset, but she just tried to do it again

aubergenie - you have better instincts than I do. I freaked out and did the wrong thing. The next times it has happened I did the right thing (b/c I was told by you all what to do) and still in a panic.
pepper - poor dd! When Q feel backwards from sitting a few weeks ago, I got in a total panic and called the nhs direct for advice and started looking online - and everything online was talking about falling off sofas and highchairs, counters, changing tables...etc. And I thought, 1. I guess this is more common than I thought and 2. this fall was not so bad! .
But nhs direct nurse kept assuring me that he WILL fall from much higher places than the floor and it WILL happen more than once! Now I feel like I'm on constant "lookout" for a fall. paranoid? me? no!
