Sazzles - our local one is Chippenham - it has clothes but so does the Swindon one both close enough for me to pop to.

Okay - how much telly does your LO watch if any? On the plane DD watched something called 3rd and Bird and was mesmerised by it - so DH has set it to sky+ for her. Surely she is too young for her own programmes?

oops ds will gaze at whatever dd is watching - sometimes, when he was well and willing to be put down - i'd put cbeebies on for him while I cooked but he's not interested really. Am slightly and at myself as dd would never have got plonked, but hey... second child syndrome.

dd (6 in 3 weeks) still likes cbeebies but is fast going off it she has discovered the joy of nickolodeon and pop girl .

Miamla · 30/04/2009 11:29

lol albs that reminds me.. yrDD was asking what TV channels i had! She was very disappointed to hear that I didn't have nickolodean!

alittlebitshy · 30/04/2009 11:37

lol - she should remember that she has only had it about 6 weeks!!!

Sazzles v quickly a couple of ways you could expand but depends how fidly you want to be.

If buttons are at the back you could unpick the side seams from hem to armpit and add a wedge of matching/contrasting fabric on each side.
Or do something similar at the back if there is a back seam, but this won't really give you more room across the front.

so thinking about it side seams are best.

Or you could cut the front and add an insert in there, but remember you would need to add extra to the insert width to allow for the fabric that becomes the seams - iyswim.

can you take a pic of the dress and put it on your profile - then if any of us are in a sainsbugs with clothes we can look - plenty of time to get it posted - esp with next day postage, by monday...

Steaknife · 30/04/2009 12:10

Wotcha albs glad things are going better on the bf front for you.

Overhere Izzy is not too keen on solids at the moment. She'll taste stuff but doesn't really seem interested. Not sure if it is tiredness from not napping well, grumpiness from jabs on Monday or just a lil phase.

Mind you she's very happy with a bit of fruit to suck, so maybe its my cooking.

Sibh · 30/04/2009 12:45

I'm sure your cooking is fine Steaky
I'd guess it is the jabs.

No1 - as VG said, they don't go in for mad weighing here. DS was on the 95th centile when he was born and went to skinny rake within six months. He is still a tall, skinny, rather handsome rake and eats almost the same amount each day as DH. I saw a nice HV who looked at his chart and said 'What does his dad look like?' The answer that he was tall and skinny was fine by her and she said to use that as a guide rather than the book.

I would deffo complain about what she has said. I've had a spell recently which has filled me with gratitude for the ways women support each other and it's not nice to hear about a woman undermining people like that.

*VG - glad to hear about your mum being on the mend. Thanks for your words about your DS who as always sounds fantastic. It has really helped me to step back. I think I've lost the plot on it lately because DD1 who isn't 3 yet has passed him out in terms of her ability to get basic stuff done without supervision.
He is different rather than deliberately awkward. That is what I said to myself yesterday morning when we were in a rush and he stood in the middle of the garden intently peeling a twig, having forgotten all about his school bag.

I won't give you the full details of how I got stranded on the hard shoulder of a dual carriageway yesterday with steam pouring out of DH's car. The children weren't with me as I was on my way home from teaching. The head gasket has gone though so we are yet again on the search for a super-cheap, unbelievably reliable car. Feck. Feck. Feck.

I've just ordered Colm Tóibín's new novel to cheer myself up (v. cheap on book depository website VG)

Ladies! I have missed you all so much! Been extra busy packing the house up, ready for moving in 8 days time!!!!

All good here. I hope everyone is ok? Far too many posts to plow through but I notice expectant is in the country

And is someone planning a meet-up?

Quick stats - Oliver will be 9 months old tomorrow

  • He's sitting unaided
  • Still only has 2 teeth (bottom)
  • Still hasn't slept through the night
  • Rolls around the room
  • Has just started 'crawling' like a giant slug. Alternates between this and commando style crawling
  • will be stopping bf in the next couple of weeks (shh, don't tell him!!)

How are all the other Aug 08 cherubs?

Steaknife · 30/04/2009 13:13

wotcha CC and Sibh

Izzy is 8 months today
two teeth poking out
like melon not porridge in the morning
likes anything with yoghurt on it, even porridge
She doesn't like being on her tummy but can roll side to side with the right incentive
She can sit unaided for ages
She can pull her bib or hat off
She is very wriggly.

She is lovely.

Hiya

Albs good news on H.

Cavey Kurt doing exactly the same as O but sleeps 11hrs and still has no sign of teeth yet.

Was just thinking actually that any future meetups are going to need more thought venue-wise now the little folk are on the move. Will have to be a playzone or maybe we could hijack an existing but quiet toddler group.

Bad mummy award here. The tooth fairy forgot to visit last night. Told DD I would email Gordon Brown and get him to chase her and have it all sorted by end of school. Also whizzed to Hobbycraft for opening time and bought some mini gift boxes and a set of acrylic paintpots so she could make herself and friends/cousins some tooth boxes.

LoveBuckets · 30/04/2009 13:36

PS I have given up with BLW apart from bread and ricecakes - it's just so messy!

Am doing my last nappy wash so if anyone wants and Size 2 Fluffles, Bimbles, Bumbles or large Minki Huggles (fab for nights), let me know. £3 a nappy plus p&p

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/04/2009 13:37

sazzles I am just on phone trying to locate the dress in a sains near me. the`lady just gone to check

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/04/2009 13:40

I would be v interested in minki huggles. Not sure what they are but I am looking for good night ones. Was going to face book you to ask but felt too cheeky.
How many do you have??
sazzles yeah I have found the dress and when dcs wake up will go get it and post it, so just need your address, can text it me or whatever.

no1 aw sazzles is going to be so happy with you. Lovely lady

AM sitting here eating chocolate. mmmmm. I feel so much lighter (emotionally, no way i could be described as light in terms of weight arf arf) now that H is feeding again. 4 feeds and counting so far today

cavey god to see you. H is doing similar to O - he kind of commando crawls but gets there faster by rolling. He wants to be on his feet all the time - loves holding the sofa but he is still v wobbly and you feel his legs starting to buckle as you hold his hands. I don't remeber dd wanting this foot action yet so perhaps he'll be not so crawly as her and go staright to walking.....

LoveBuckets · 30/04/2009 14:45

Haven't counted yet! Will count and do a check tonight for stains etc. They are the most absorbent nappy I've found, luxury Egyptian cotton, fleece-lined, poppered with a flap-out booster for quickdrying. And all sorts of colours (Kurt looked particularly good in the pink ones) Fits about 15lb+

Will someone please go fetch my DD from school? It's pissing it down here and I'm going to havce to wake the baby too.

alittlebitshy · 30/04/2009 14:47

I keep being tempted by using cloth but.... don't think dh would be too happy (spending more money in one go, or the thought of having to wash them...)
