DH got a phone call this morning
FIL in Aus has had a heart attack... prognosis not good. DH may have to fly to Aus.

FrazzledFairyFay · 26/04/2009 16:32

Fury

Daisy, I know the overwhelmed by clutter feeling very well. I decided that the thought of having to deal with ebaying it all was part of the problem because I wasn't actually getting rid of anything, I was just shifting it into another pile, and giving myself another job to do. So I decided that unless I'd get over £20 for an item then it was for the charity shop. Cue me with bin bag in one hand and cardboard box in the other, tackling one room at a time. The charity shop didn't know what had hit them....

Foxy, will keep everything crossed

FrazzledFairyFay · 26/04/2009 16:33

I too am trying very hard not to MN during the day on weekdays, and I am definitely getting more done

Ohforfoxsake · 26/04/2009 16:39

Thanks

We have no storage whatsoever, so it has a tendancy to look like a tip. But I am fairly convinced we have decluttered as much as possible, so now I just have to live with it and try to find a home for everything.

Freecycle is good for storage. Moving boxes are often on offer, and I got a very handy sideboard which houses all sorts of crap. Including a 'to be filed' drawer.

Hide the clutter. That's another option.

LackaDAISYcal · 26/04/2009 17:35

Sorry to hear about your FIL fury .

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 26/04/2009 17:41

sorry about your FIL fury. hope all turns out OK.

I feel your pain daisy, am currently in denial so the anxiety doesn't get me. I try to keep just about on top of downstairs, but upstairs is awful. Mainly because I can't leave baggins downstairs alone for long as he literally climbs the walls, and I can't have him roaming upstairs as there's too much stuff, and DH cannot cope with any sort of job if he has to watch the kids. He also leaves things out/half finished when he goes off to work.

we are back from Whitby, I don't know if we had a good time or not IYKWIM. have to feed the kids left-over picnic and chips, back in a bit.

Ohforfoxsake · 26/04/2009 17:49

Shit, sorry Fury Missed that hope he is OK.

HellHathNoFury · 26/04/2009 17:52

We'll know more tomorrow and DH will decide then if he needs to go to Aus or not.

I hope he is ok - we had just paid for them to come to the UK as he has never met DS, I hope he can make it for that at the very least

I hate clutter. It makes me feel 'dirty'.
Hence throwing everything (EVERYTHING) away.

Ohforfoxsake · 26/04/2009 18:21

If he does Fury, do you think you'll be OK? Do you have support where you are?

I know you will cope, and you will be fine BTW.

HellHathNoFury · 26/04/2009 18:28

I have no support here, sadly!
Thanks for asking though Foxy...

I have already emailed my boss to say I cannot cope with full time work + crazed 2 year old + PG + uncooperative pelvis on my own, so if DH has to go, I am going to pack up the car with child, dog, and various clothes and kip with my mum for a few days!

Ohforfoxsake · 26/04/2009 18:43

I think that is wise.

I will send DP in with food parcels for you otherwise.

HellHathNoFury · 26/04/2009 19:21

ooh I'll take the food parcels as well!
In fact, I'll come live with you!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/04/2009 19:26

Sorry about your FIL Fury. Hope he is OK. I agree with Foxy that it sounds wise for you to decamp to your Mum's if DH has to go away.

And I totally sympathise with clutter woes. I could feel myself tensing up just reading Daisy's posts. My famous list of things to do hasn't progressed very far and I've now got more piles of stuff to take to charity, which was a job that we did actually do.

Had a lovely day out today (though that means no jobs done of course). Jamlet ate such a huge lunch (2 slices of bread and pate, loads of cherry toms, loads of strawbs, some crisps, loads of grapes, a mini sausage roll and a slice of cake!) I thought she might be sick. She wasn't meant to eat that much, but after she'd eaten her lunch she kept asking for more toms and strawbs then when they ran out she went and sat with our friends DSs and helped herself to their picnic Thankfully she wasn't sick but was obviously well fuelled up because after a half walk/half ride in pushchair round the "100 aker wood" (and an ice cream) she had a jolly good go at the "big kids" assault course play area.

Ohforfoxsake · 26/04/2009 19:31

LOL Fury. You are funny!

HellHathNoFury · 26/04/2009 19:39

Foxy, I'll be bringing the pooch too. He hums a bit but makes a great dyson substitute with dropped food.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 26/04/2009 19:39

sounds lovely jammy. baggins had a lemon top ice cream while I took the others for a trip on the Bark Endeavor. I don't think he shared with DH at all.

My love affair with Crocs is over. I wore my lovely new peacock blue alice bar ones (i bought them after xmas in a sale and had forgotten) cos I thought they looked nice and summery with my long lacy skirt (very pseudo goth) and they have rubbed the hell out of my heels, AND I keep banging the sore patches

Sputnik · 26/04/2009 21:37

Oh was it the goth weekend at Whitby?

Sorry about your FIL Fury.

I have done like Fairy with a lot of my baby gear and it has gone to Oxfam or been given away. I sent a load off recently to the earthquake victims too. There's a shop here that sells stuff for you on ebay and I'm taking some things there, after 2 years of saying "oh I'll ebay that" I've decided I can't actually be arsed to do it myself. We have to have a major declutter before moving.

Commiserations to your DP Foxy.

Rialentless · 26/04/2009 21:48

re your facebook comment foxy.

it was indeed Sputnik, and I made an effort today too, we decided though that I had too much top and not enough hat. (DH seemed quite disappointed I had hidden my cleavage, and i want one of those riding hats with a veil) floor length skirt and stupid shoes not the best idea for walking down a gangplank that wasn't wide enough for my bottom though

we are doing a car boot sale in a few weeks, and what I don't sell might go to my nearest Womens Aid refuge (after reading a thread on here), though it usually goes in the salvation army bin for overseas aid.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/04/2009 08:17

we are getting a new BT line installed today as we are swapping from virgin to sky, and reading the bumph, it appears that I may be without an internet connection for 10 DAYS

How will I cope? What will I do? Help, I'm really scared .....I might even have to do housework

anyhoo, if there is a disruption to the service.....have fun everyone and I'll see you in 10 days

Daisy

Boooooooo for Foxy

Hello to everyone

What a miserable day. We had a lovely sunny weekend and now it's absolutely chucking it down. Good for the garden as my Mum would say , but that's about all it is good for. We are off to Zante on Friday for a week though, so I am still in a happy mood.

We did a trial pitch of our tent yesterday, and managed to put it up in under an hour, with no major falling out, so we are all set for our first family trip at the beginning of July as well.

Today's excitement will consist of a trip to the Council offices to start our Green Bag recycling scheme.

Have good days everyone

LittleMissNorty · 27/04/2009 09:43

holiday sounds fab Fairy.......not raining here yet but looks like its on its way....tumble dryer back in use then today!

Foxy.....still a bit perplexed about the result as I'm sure you are....

I have crates of crap in my garage to e-bay and that's without all the baby clothes...Sputnik, we have a similar shop near us....I may take it there as well......forgotten about it until you posted that.

Hope FIL is ok Fury? When are they meant to be coming over....after DS2 is here? Hopefully he'll be well enough to travel by then?

DD still being a complete nightmare re sleeping....she screamed for 20 minutes last night before going to sleep....I felt such an evil cow leaving her, but if I go in, it just makes it 10 times worse. I've tried everything

Right, got lots to do today...all indoors, so better get on with it and get off MN

HellHathNoFury · 27/04/2009 10:19

Norty, I feel your pain re sleeping.
DS kept coming in to visit us every 10 minutes last night until about midnight.
Needless to say he woke up in a FOUL mood where he was so tired.

FIL isn't due to come out until September but the worry is either he won't make it til then or won't be able to fly due to insurance/against consultant advice.
This is his 2nd heart attack you see.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/04/2009 10:39

bummer for your DP foxy. Olymps definately better than F1!

Rain rain and more rain here today....bang goes my plans for finishing the digging in my wildflower patch...will have to do laundry instead!

I'm still live, but for how much longer I'm not sure. I don't know if we will lose the virgin connection today or not, but as we haven't been sent a router by Sky, who knows. Whenever I phone them they seem to think I know what's going on and don't tell me anything!!
