Well done jammy, glad it went well.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/04/2009 21:30

Thanks. OK, I'm off to bed. Night all.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/04/2009 21:33

Blimey! He's like a toddler nearly!!

My p&t needs a bit of repair work before I sell it. The footwell has nearly ripped off. i might need to buy a new one. 'Tis a bit shit really. I quite often go out with the stroller and a mei tai. Ds starts in the pushchair, but if dd gets tired I put ds in the sling and she hops in the pushchair for a while, or I'll put her on my back. Honestly my mei tai is absolutely fantastic, I can't rate it highly enough.

I hoping for stage 3 car seats from M&B as dd is nearly out of her Priori. It'll save me buying one!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/04/2009 21:44

glad things went well for you today jammy. I might be getting involved in a new BFing group run by our local children's centre; all very exciting for me re breastfeeding issues at the minute. I've also volunteered my services for stay and play (not entirely altruistic of me; if I'm a volunteer then we get to go every week rather than every fortnight as it is at the minute ).

morning all

baggins was measured as a 7F yesterday. He's gone up half a size in a matter of weeks (but then I'm no midget either, though I'm only a 7/8 depending on style)

I went out last night. Dsis was going for a curry with her team at work and invited me (and offered to pay), and when I saw the devastation the kids made with their tea I thought sod it and went. DH managed (I bathed baggins before I went), although DS2 was asleep on the sofa when I got home cos he wouldn't go to bed til I got home.
Was a bit though, one person sadi " hasn't your hair grown since I last saw you?", someone else was about to say the same til I sat back and they saw dsis next to me, then someone else asked if we were twins, and when told no asked who was the eldest (that stung a little - dsis is 14 years older than me!). Had a nice time though, and lovely food. The only down-side is I was more mentally stimulated than usual and couldn't sleep!

baggins and DS2 fighting already.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/04/2009 08:12

I feel your pain over the "who's the eldest" thing Ria. I was gutted one day when me & DSis got asked the same thing, and she's "only" 9 years older than me.

Are you limited to how often you can go to stay & play etc then Daisy? All of our childrens centre sessions (apart from a few special groups) are drop ins, come as and when you fancy. All your BF work sounds really good too

HellHathNoFury · 25/04/2009 08:41

Well actually I have no sympathy.

I am 3 years older than Dsis.
I went to her wedding.
While she was getting ready and I was at her house, the best man stopped by to offer assistance.

I opened the door.

He introduced himself to me as "Hi I am Jake, and you must be Dsis's Mum"

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 25/04/2009 08:55

not nice fury. was he suitably embarrassed?

LittleMissNorty · 25/04/2009 09:35

Morning all

Nice to see you Holly

Thanks for reminder about the Duplo....will do that today.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/04/2009 09:53

Ouch Fury! I hope you didn't let him off that one for a looong time?

Ekka · 25/04/2009 11:30

Sorry to hear about painful backs & necks. My solution to pain was always to put my feet up, sadly it doesn't work so well now I have dcs.....

Fairy - your talk about shoe sizes made me think of the verse from 'Clementine' - 'Light she was & like a fairy & her shoes were number 9, herring boxes without topses sandles were for Clementine' - now can't stop humming it & DH just thinks I'm wierd

Jammy - love those shoes for Jamlet. Dd has got the black Clarks ones with flashing lights because she has loads of red trousers & dresses & I'm sick of having to combine them with pink shoes....

Daisy - your bf group and video sound exciting, its great things seem to be going well with Bumble, though I can sympathise on the lack of daytime sleep - the only time Matthew has a decent nap is if he falls asleep in the buggy & I leave him in the garden when we get home (only works on a nice day!)

Ria/Fury - I am 7 years older than dsis, but she started to go grey at 17 (though she now dyes her hair) & I have not yet got grey hairs (well I spotted one yesterday, but pulled it out and pretended I never saw it . Don't think that technique will work for long though or else I'll be bald!). Sadly she is very skinny & I am definitely not, so I do get a few, comments about, oh you don't look very alike, with glances at my non-existent waistline .

Dd has just started singing all her nursery rhymes to ds which is really cute. She has suddenly found her vocab and is now really chatty, though I could do without her comments on the size/contents of her nappy when we are in the supermarket! I have gone dairy free and ds's eczema has really cleared up so he is much more happy & is finally starting to achieve things like rolling over & sitting up . I hoped I would lose weight with being dairy free, then dsis found a truly luscious recipe for dairy free chocolate cake.... Oh dear

Sorry for the mammoth post, I'll try and keep up better!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/04/2009 12:40

Hi ekka. Glad the dairy free is helping DS if not you . And DD singing to him sounds v cute.

Planning a picnic for tomorrow. We are going here with friends. So now off to shop with jamlet to get ingredients for us to make lemon and poppy seed yoghurt cupcakes

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 25/04/2009 12:47

jammy, that looks nice. maybe even better than our plan...

Hi Ekka, good to see you back and to hear all is well

must go and make lunch, we're off to town to meet a Cyberman, then DH has to go to work.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 25/04/2009 16:30

pah, the cyberman thing was sold out. It hasn't said that in any of the advertising.

DS1 not too disappointed though as we went to the sports shop and bought cricket gear

HellHathNoFury · 25/04/2009 16:39

Hello Ekka long time no 'see'

Given I am now 23 weeks I thought I'd spend money unnecessarily and bought this.

In blue, obviously. It's a damn site nicer than the black nylon Graco one I currently have anyway.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 25/04/2009 17:04

that's a lovely bag fury.

as I have nothing better to do I'm looking at cricket helmets on ebay. (also sussing out the re-sale value of the ball & gloves I bought today when DS1 decides he doesn't like it after all)

DS2 can ride his bike without stabilisers I got DS1 to take them off for me on Weds night (I seem to be a bit of a wimp with a spanner) and he has cracked it

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/04/2009 17:08

I never "got" proper changing bags. Far too much £ in my opinion. I used a huge beach type holdall bag I got free on a magazine about the time she was born for a while and then a 10 euro rucksack we bought in France.

No bun cases so made lemon & poppyseed cake instead but is very yummy all the same

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 25/04/2009 17:12

I don't have a proper changing bag either (currently a bright pink rucksack I bought in tesco)so now I can have changing bag envy as well as prem envy

I got my replacement 3 wheeler today, (another £10 cheapy off ebay) and I love it, the handle isn't quite as high as the last one, but it's ok, and after the sodding Hauck it's a dream to push. I just need a buyer for the old one now...

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 25/04/2009 18:19

I have a bit of a thing for changing bags. In fact I have a bit of a thing for bag in general! I had been eying this one up for ages. I heart all Dwell Studio stuff and this is my fave print. It was £95 in Blooming Marvellous, then it went down to £54.99, then last week they were doing BOGOF on all their sale stuff. I thought I'd go crazy and treat myself and buy two and keep one and put the other on ebay. Well....I put two in my basket along with two plates that were £2.99 each. What should happen, but the bags went through free and with delivery the total was £10.33 for 2 bags and two plates! Hip hip hooray!! I tried it again, but my orders got cancelled ! Oh well! The thing I like about changing bags other than regular bags it the sections. I can't be doing with carrying a baby bag and a handbag, so I like to keep everything separate in the one bag. The Dwell one is also fabby because it has special clips to put it on a pushchair and it'll go on a single bar or two handled one. It also has a sling pocket on the outside to shove a cardi or blanket through. I love it!

Shocking about the elder sister/mum comments. Everyone thinks I am older than I am. Maybe because I have 2 dcs and my dp is 38, they put 5+ years on my age. Maybe I am just boring and old at heart!

LackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2009 18:48

evening all

been in the garden all day today and have planted up some sweet peas. I love how pretty and colourful that are, but unfortunately hate the smell...ah well, at least the patio will look nice.

Hi Ekka, lovely to hear from you and glad the dairy free is making a difference.

Jammy, stay n play was a drop in, but it is really popular and after a week where it was packed out, the health and safety officer said it had to be limited to 15 children.....which is just pants as 15 kids and assorted carers just rattle around in there. We now have to book sessions and to allow everyone a chance you can only book every two weeks.

Ria, where do you find £10 three wheelers? what kind is it? I have Mountain Buggy Terrain envy; a friend was over yesterday with hers and it knocks spots off the P&T. Unfortunately they only do a side by side double, and even the singles are £250 second hand on ebay!

lemon and poppy seed cake sounds nice.

bumble has been a horror today. He got up at 6, and finally settled for a nap at......2.30 . He then slept for two hours and is wide awake and probably not that interested in going back to bed. He isn't feeding a lot in the day at the minute so is back to three feeds a night......I'm on my knees again.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/04/2009 19:09

Shame about your bag order Holly

Jamlet was a real sleepy-head this morning. She slept from 6.45 last night to 7.15 this morning, then went for a nap from 8.40 - 10.50! So DH didn't take her to Dads Zone at the children's centre I went to the gym though, which was good and didn't hurt at all. But sitting cross legged on the floor with jamlet this afternoon pulled my leg a bit and now it is sore again , but not as bad as last weekend.

And after she'd had her tea tonight we were looking at books and stuff and she brought me her potty and started tugging at her trousers. So I whipped them down and took her nappy off and she sat on the pot with trousers round her ankles for about half an hour. When she got up she'd done a big wee and got lots of praise Wasn't going to start yet, and prob will still leave it a while before we really start with potty training but it's a good sign as I was only saying yesterday that I'd hoped to try it this summer, but wasn't sure that she was going to be ready.

HellHathNoFury · 25/04/2009 19:46

I didn't 'get' changing bags either, but since then I decided I got bored carrying around a handbag AND a bag full of baby bits so this time round I wanted a nice 'one bag fits all'. Practical and big for baby stuff but still nice looking enough to be a handbag.

besides which I didn't pay £65 for it. That would be silly

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/04/2009 19:49

Oh I agree on only being arsed to carry one bag, but my rucksack is quite smart, so I use the main section for all her stuff and the top pocket will fit my wallet, phone, keys, lip balm and tissues. On work days I just swap my bits over to my handbag.

HellHathNoFury · 25/04/2009 19:50

I bollocked the nursery again yesterday!

They are under strict orders with DS about his skin allergies.

Anyway they are SHITE and forgot (fucking 'forgot') and rubbed suncream all over him.

Ensue screaming DS, all of his skin going scarlet and bumpy, and now it's gone down but his eczema has flared up all over his cheeks and eyes.

I HATE my fucking nursery
