Zj, domestic goddess indeed! I am a little that you have such a nice butcher!

effie & arti also a big fan of MA, ever since I read the Handmaid's Tale when I was about 12, loved The Blind Assassin. Have got Cat's Eye in my waiting to be read pile! arti fingers crossed for the offer to be accepted!

kayz well done!

Am also at whoever has been snooping on Verso. This may be a public forum but that does not give you the right to tell tales to anyone & in such a cowardly way as well.

JollyBear · 16/04/2009 20:37

Evening ladies,

Are you sure someone has got their info from reading your comments on here verso? If so that is just awful. You could namechange and email everyone so we know who you are and the nasty 'friend' doesn't. A few of us could name change to make it less obvious if it helps. Could you try posting in health re support for MS carers?

Happy birthday ladyT! . Hope you are having a good day.

I feel very special that you have ordered by mac ladyT. I hope it does mean I am glam by association zoe! veggie you might have to ask in Next for the mac as they are no longer on display, well not in the shop I was in anyway. A nice assistant got one out of the storeroom for me.

katie Hope you feel better soon, it must have been really scary dropping your LO.

Mmm female authors. I must agree with arti on M. Atwood - her books can be a bit hard going to get into I admit, but once you are in, you are hooked. Cats Eye portrays the complexity and cruelty of girlhood relationships so well. My latest author I've 'discovered' is David Lodge. I've only read two books so far but I like the way that his writing acknowledges that it is fiction (I'm sure you EngLit girls have a technical term for that!).

I used to love Heat but agree that it has gone downhill since Mark Frith left, DH complains that it is full of articles on leggings and earrings these days. LadyT I did chuckle at your execution viewing comment! I had never watched Jeremy Kyle until I started Mat Leave - now I'm happy if DD has her morning nap at 9.30 .

DD had a heartbreakingly huge screaming fit at bedtime, obviously those damn teeth playing up as it wasn't a 'come back mummy' or 'hang on I need more food' cry. After calpol, teething gel and a dummy she settled thank goodness.

zoe Well done you on the domestic goddess front!

tillyfernackerpants · 16/04/2009 20:52

Meant to say as well thanks for all the reassurance re ds2's weight! I know he's fine & healthy but when everyone starts saying the same thing you do start to think you've got the blinkers on!

Sandalwearinghomebirthhippy · 16/04/2009 21:05

Hi there guess who? Trying to catch up with you ladies as have been out doing my bit for the British economy this afternoon and organising a large and medium mac to be delivered to Next so I can try them on.

Right be back soon I'm off to slap Melanie Reid with my sandal (which will take some time as I need to apply my red nail polish first), and put the dark light over Verso's virtual stalker!!!!

Oh and Spot you make me giggle so much a little bit of wee wee comes out, though granted that isn't hard to do these days.

spotofcheerfulness · 16/04/2009 21:20

I have a contract with Tena Lady, Sandal .

EffiePerine · 16/04/2009 21:39

Sandal, I think your name might be a tad long

Sandalwearinghomebirthhippy · 16/04/2009 21:59

Bigger I just wrote a long message but itouch died so lost it all. Anyay JB MAM make a 3month+ toothbrush you can buy it from Boots.

That homebirth article is almost amusing except that many of her information and facts are a little wrong. The main one being that infant mortality in this country is far from zero and brain damage as a result of medical mess ups during birth are even worse. Death a couple of centuries ago were actually due to doctors attending births after carry out autopsies without gloves and not washing their hands (they were told that it was this that was causing the infections but they thought that was preposterous and carried on for about another 50 years before it was proven killing thousands of women). But I think the thing she shows more than anything else is the sad fact that some journalist are actually quite stupid. Bless her I'm sure she finds herself interesting. Oh and Lady I've worked out what her chip is...she's got ugly feet!

Effie your pretty so it doesn't matter if you have hideous feet

spotofcheerfulness · 16/04/2009 22:29

LOL at your original swearword, Veg

Veggiemummy · 16/04/2009 22:37

Oops that was meant to be 'bugger'

Veggiemummy · 16/04/2009 22:42

As far as sex preference and authors (yes I could have worded that differently but I like that it sounds a bit dirty) I am up for both men and women as long as they are able to write well for the opposite sex. I hate when men write things which women would not say or do except in their own little stereotypical views and vis versa. Same goes for different races.

spotofcheerfulness · 16/04/2009 22:47

hmmm, you mean like nick hornby, or summat more highbrow?
i like bigger as a swearword, my mum used to call poos "biggies" when we were kids, god knows why. sorry for no caps, floppy baby on arm.

Veggiemummy · 16/04/2009 22:53

Hey all you rugby fans Johnny Wilkinson is going to join a French team.

Also BBC news presentor just prounounced midwifery mid-wife-ery!

Apparently the economy is improving, I take full responsibility for that. I was going to be good and just get the mac and maybe one top and an H&M cheapie at that but I accidently walked into Zara. Oh and WHAT has happened to River Island! I thought I was in Topshop, all sparkly and dangly. Also made a sad old lady comment today when I saw a pair of plastic floro pink shoes, 'these are just what I used to wear when I was a teenager' ds1 proceeded to talk very animatedly to the shoes so not only did I look like an old fart but my son looked a bit mental.

EffiePerine · 17/04/2009 07:49

Another 2 hr night for us. DS2 not planning his growth spurts well...

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 17/04/2009 08:34

veggie really? Well, I hope they get their money's worth as he seems to get injured every time he steps onto the pitch lately! And yes, River Island full of tat now!

And your point about the books, James Patterson is particularly bad at writing as a woman or a black man & yet that's all he seems to do .

effie sorry about your night, hopefully growth spurt will end soon!

Ds2 had a good night last night, woke at 12 for his bottle (which dh does!) and then nothing until 7am. Yayy!

lal07 · 17/04/2009 08:51

Hello all - have just caught up. Sorry I haven't posted for ages - we were away for Easter and I couldn't get online. Has taken me ages to read so am now pushing it by trying to find time to post too. Will do properly later.

Verso agree with everything that's been said. Can understand why you don't want to post here any more - but would be a bad thing for all of us. From all your posts it's clear you are someone who really cares about getting it right for your daughters - you are not a bad mother. I've got DH around most of next week - if I could help in any way - or you just wanted to meet up for a coffee/gin email or FB me.

Spot am so so pleased for your sister. Miraculous.

Trace no luck with the elephant seal but my giraffe impression is pretty good if I say so myself. Involves neck extension and chewing though - so definitely visual.

LadyT happy belated birthday. And ZJ painted toenails and home made chicken pie. Domestic goddess indeed.

Having hair coloured today. Which could be big mistake as my usual hairdresser has disappeared off to cuba for months so am going to toni and guy instead and chat I had with woman when I got my haircut included word 'purple'...

Arti hope you're back is feeling better. Sympathise with the school thing. Very very hard - thought of DS having to go to terrible school near us brings me out in cold sweat (there is a brilliant one nearer but is v heavily over-subscribed).

Effie sorry you've had a bad night. And yay Veggie I too might indulge in a bit of patriotic spending whilst I'm in town.

I missed you all (is there a saddo emoticon?). Oooh the ocado man cometh. Better go.

lal07 · 17/04/2009 08:51

Argh - your back arti sorry.

spotofcheerfulness · 17/04/2009 08:57

Sorry you had such a ropey night, Effie, esp with the move taking up so much of your time. I hope there's something practical I can do to help when we meet later. Glad yours was good, Tilly, and hooray for 7 hours sleep!
It's such a random thing but the whole night issue seems to be the crux of this stage. I was "informed" that because T is bottle fed, he should be sleeping through the night, but he's showing no signs of wanting to do that - indeed last night he downed 2 bottles in the night (a good sign his tummy's on the mend) but didn't want a drop this morning. It's a bit of a vicious circle - he's getting his calories in the night so not sure how to change that to get them in the day. Still, the most difficult thing for feeding at the moment seems to be teething pain. I know it's meant to be the bottom 2 that come first but he seems to be rubbing the back of his mouth a lot and there are loads of teeth-like lumps there. Surely it's impossible for the molars to come first? Or maybe there's something else that's hurting him at the back of his mouth, maybe an infection in the ear canal...?

sybilfaulty · 17/04/2009 09:41

Morning all.

Sorry for the bad nights. Wasn't great here last night either but I feel less tired for some reason.

I now have a new issue to grapple with, after my idle boasts of a couple of weeks ago. Can any of the BF help with this please?

WIll try to reply properly later but it's DD's birthday part tom and I need to make a cake in the shape of a 4, a million cup cakes, crispy cakes etc etc

Hope you are all well

Kayzr · 17/04/2009 09:56

Morning,

I suggest you all go and see the great news on FB!!!

Sorry for all the bad nights everyone is having. DS2 woke up at 5 on the dot this morning. He actually drunk a full 8oz of his bottle so he was obviously hungry this morning. We then slept until 9 and had a little lie in. Well we were being jumped on by DS1 but a lie in all the same.

Hope everyone is well.

tillyfernackerpants · 17/04/2009 09:58

spot it always makes me laugh when people say 'he should be sleeping through now' as if they suddenly reach 4mo and think 'oh yes, I'll just sleep 7-7 now, I've reached the right age'! The feeding last night could just be him catching up after his illness? When ds2 was still having 2 bottles we gradually moved the first one back to midnight & increased the quantity & at the same time, slowly reduced the quantity of the 2nd bottle so now he just has the one bottle a night & is still interested in the morning.

sybil another domestic goddess . I guess you not being as tired is your body getting used to the lack of sleep?

Hi lal hope you had a good trip over Easter & good luck at the hairdressers. I confess I did used to have purple hair but that was in my university days, not sure if I'd fancy it now!

Veggiemummy · 17/04/2009 10:33

Is the FB good news about V kayz? I saw it very nice.

Oh dear now I really feel like some old hippy the hair colour I just did is a deep purple colour. It's not like the purple I had done in my hippy but it's still purple. I have gotten positive comments from DH but maybe he's saying it to get sugar??? No actually he can't lie about things like that even for sugar. Speaking of sugar where is she?

Hi Lal missed you.

Spot I think again the sleep thing comes down to the individual baby. BF has more available calories than FF so will keep a baby satisfied for energy longer buy FF takes longer to breakdown so in theory should make them feel fuller longer but that really depends on the baby and their digestive system. I think all you can do is go with the flow and listen to the advice of the lovely ladies on here with FF babies. I don't think your doing anything wrong. But then I have purple hair and wear sandals?

Kayzr · 17/04/2009 10:36

Yes it is Veggie!

sybilfaulty · 17/04/2009 10:50

I can't use facebook as I am too doddery for the young people on it

Would this be about V and a hotel? I had a text this morning.

I thought that there is a way we could continue our posts in a more private way. There is no need for our thread to be in PN clubs is there. If we moved somewhere else (discretely natch) then we would be more private. I mean, we could all hide in Gardening and just carry on our chat there. WE might need a few name changes etc but it could be done.

What do you think?
