Seeing as LadyT broke the thread...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyThompson · 08/05/2009 10:07

We need a thread title. Something about rolling, weaning or, er

traceface · 08/05/2009 10:09

Lady - sympathies on the period. That's horrid. I remember after dd1 having the worst ever periods but it did settle down after a few months. And that was after a c-section. Don't know if that makes a difference. Not had one yet this time... Hope you perk up soon. I recommend chocolate (but it is my remedy for all ills) - Veggie will probably recommend something more wholesome and effective!

traceface · 08/05/2009 10:11

"from rolling to sitting and everything inbetwean?"

jumpjockey · 08/05/2009 10:29

will catch up proprely on next thread as we're hopefully about to pop out, but just to say spot re your theory, dd is a wrigglepants indeed but has only giggled twice so maybe they can only do one thing at a time - ie moving or 'talking' but not both?

sigh - they'#ll all be exactly the same in a few years but we do like to stress ourselves about it all!

LadyThompson · 08/05/2009 10:34

We have got crazy crazy hail here, anyone else? I don't think the horse trials are going to be much fun tomorrow if this persists...

modernlove · 08/05/2009 12:06

Just a quick one as heading to a baby group (although DS decided to have a nap so hasn't fed, still in sleepsuit and in deep sleep!).

DS was on a towel in the lounge this morning enjoying being naked and when I went to answer front door - he rolled from his back to his front for the first time. I returned to find him looking v proud of himself - but I missed it

Toywise - he likes his baby mozart and just chewing anything he can get his hands on. I read a couple of books to him and sing alot (he's probably the only person who has ever enjoyed my singing!)

No hail here -up in NW - but very blustery.

daisydora · 08/05/2009 12:52

Just a quickie...

...DS can roll back to front, then cries as he gets stuck and can't roll back!

Who mentioned a Jumparoo?? We have one. DH bought it thought it would be great - its bloody enormous! Fortunately our lounge is a good size but with all DD's toys to, my house is startting to resemble a stock room at Toys R Us

Oh & Kayz re: reward charts. We used one with DD when potty training her at 2, she really took to it so I bet Freddy will love it. Although I'm sure DD managed to wee on demand just for another sticker

tillyfernackerpants · 08/05/2009 13:24

Someone else popping in quickly as I need to get on with my work while ds2 is asleep.

lady sympathies with the period, mine have always been extremely heavy so know exactly how it feels. I too recommend chocolate!

kayz how horrible of those women yesterday, I can't believe someone would say something like that, how ignorant

Had a horrible day yesterday, dh out for the evening & ds2 refusing to nap so had a couple of meltdowns late on in the day. But then ds2 had a great night, woke up at 11pm for his bottle & then nothing until 5am, back off for an hour until 6am which is a definite improvement. I'm trying to do everything the same again today minus the no napping in the hope it will work again

I'm really sorry I haven't read through properly, but will do so later & catch up. Hope everyone's ok

MomOrMum · 08/05/2009 14:59

Not even a hint of rolling here, so DS disproves the "boys are more active" theory. Though he giggles loads, so maybe it's true that they can only work on one thing at a time? Will believe this theory instead of the lazy chunker theory.

DH is convinced that DS hasn't rolled yet because I insist on putting him in bulky cloth nappies. Clearly the entire generation of people born before Pampers were invented are still lying on their backs because they never learned to roll?!

Trace - Like the thread title idea!

Veggiemummy · 08/05/2009 15:35

Mom ds2 is in big chunky nappies and has been rolling for a month. Ds1 was also in cloth and was walking by 11 months. Clearly it's all in the genes and my children are advanced unfortunately I know that all the studies show it has no bearing on future intelligence. Also I think the physical verses speech bares out too, as ds1 walked early but didn't speak til he was over 2, now I can't shut him up!!!!

LadyT I know if someone had told me what I was supposedly 'missing' when I was sans children I probably wouldn't have listened, while I love my boys there are so many things that I know I may/will never get to do in my life. So while some people may worry they are missing something for not having kids in other ways they can gain. I also get a bit riled when I hear people have a go at people who decide not to have children, it's none of their beezwax. Oh and lady I am so looking forward to the new season thanks for letting me know about the first episode I will be prepared now. Also I gather there is a place called Badminton, not that you are trialing an all horse Badminton team.

Kayz I think those evil ladies at your class are Chelsea fans I have put the dark light on them.

Period pain remedies I have a very good one, copious amounts of Neurofen! Diclofenic if you have it, when I was on a detox once and couldn't have my beloved neurofen I had sprigs of rosemary in hot water and hot water bottles, it did not cut it. You would all be quite surprised to know that I am quite a druggy underneath this naturalist exterior. I just found for the boys that natural stuff works faster and is more effective, I think my pain receptors have been ruined by years of anti inflammatories.

Speaking of which, Spot, with my nursey western medicine hat on I think your DS need his chest listened to by someone who has a proper baby stethascope and possibly an Atrovent inhaler. Ventolin doesn't work on under 12 month olds because their lung muscles aren't matured to the level of utilizing it yet. With my lentil weaving wholemeal hat on I would recommend seeing a homeopath. It might be that his system needs a bit of support. It may not be that the formula is not right for him but that his bowels are all a bit sensitive and inflammed it can take a while to calm down and is a bit catch 22 because to completely calm it down you would need to rest it but of course resting it would pretty march starve and dehydrate him so cannot be done, so it will take some time. Not sure if that helps. If it is an intolerance issue that could also account for his cough, what is his skin like at the moment.

Veggiemummy · 08/05/2009 16:09

Oh and for BFers past and present it's breastfeeding awareness week from 10th-16th may so check if there are any events near you and get those baps out. Also they are launching the new WHO breastfeeding centile charts (finally!) in the UK, and I get my BfN helper qualifcation cert and badge at the west midlands event hooray!!!! So I can officially help, how nice.

tillyfernackerpants · 08/05/2009 16:19

Hooray veggie, well done! Btw, have you seen this?

Veggiemummy · 08/05/2009 16:43
