Seeing as LadyT broke the thread...

Hello everyone! Yet again I have been reading but not posting. I'm afraid my day to day seems to get in the way, esp as I usually only get to read about 11.30 at night as I am feeding M. We feed lying down at that time so I can't really reach past him to post....

Jam, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. I will pray for her and hope that the prognosis is better than expected.

LadyT I love Peter's Friends too, but find the Imelda Staunton/ Hugh Laurie cot death thing so heartbreaking I almost can't watch. I used to wor for a man who looked very like Hugh Laurie and it was MOST distracting.

Kayz, relactating would be hard work but worth a shot. You could use a supplemental nutrition system so that DS got formula as he sucked (to reward him as it were) whilst he stimulated your boobs to make milk. There are also drugs you can get to help. I do think though that it would be quite an undertaking and probably something which would need DH's support. COuld he not get involved in ano area? Think the MW course would be fab though.

Veggie, I love your posts and always think you sound so chipper even with your DH away for long stretches. I also always think of you as Veggie so please don't change!

KMP, so sorry you are still ill, darling, hop eyou can shift it soon.

Daisy, hope you are back from your smears and all went well.

Congratulations to JJ and JB's DDs on the teeth! It suddenly makes them look so much more grown up doesn't it?

Arti, I don't envy you your BF dilemma. I had mastitis once and it was so unbearable, so you have my every sympathy. You have fed for a good long time though which is a marvellous achievement even if you do decide enough is enough. I think you can still have the wonderful intimacyof feeding as Lady T and others have said.

Kimberly, Peckahm and Camberwell are near me! Beautiful houses, but you need to pick your roads quite carefully as parts are a bit scary IME. Having said that, there was an armed robbery round the corner from me and we are supposedly in a very quiet part of town. I guess London is all very mixed.

Trace am glad that the CPN is positive. Fingers crossed that you stay on such an even keel.

Summer, you sound like the bionic woman with all this cycling! I haven't been on a bike for years but when I do it always reminds me that I have bones in my bum (but very well covered). I also love riding but can't afford it at the moment.

Hello everyone else, I hope yo uare all well.

Girls, I had lunch with V on Monday and am happy to report that she is looking fab and is in good spirits. She told me more about the incident with the person who she thinks has got in touch with the HV and I now can understand completly why she does not wish to post any more. I hope that one day she will feel able to return to the thread but in the meantime we can all remain in touch via the email list.

I'd better go, M is crying and we are off to a friend's to sit in the garden and drink wine tea. Love to you all. Apologies fo rht rubbish typing, but I cna't see the screen wll with the sun on it and my touch typing is out fo practice.

tillyfernackerpants · 22/04/2009 15:21

pmk, is Richmond any good for you? They do swimming lessons from 6mo & follow the same basics as waterbabies/little dippers etc. I'm going to sign ds2 up for a class. Ds1 did them & he has so much confidence in the water, he starts the older class tomorrow & has to get in without me

arti, lol at lady-esque multiple postings, glad the ABs seem to be working & not upsetting ds's tummy

will be back when I've read properly

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 15:54

Goodafternoon. Wow another gorgeous day we got out into the garden and planted some beetroot seeds as well as some peas and beans to replace a couple that failed. The John Smiths proved qute popular last night, the slugs were joined in there by a caterpillar which was unexpected.

Thanks Syb you say such lovely things, I'm thinking of just leaving it as it but may just change it briefly as I want to pose a question on another thread about something that I don't want someone else to see. I'm not even sure if this person is on MN but just to be careful.

PMK if you can't find a class you can just splash around by yourself. We found many classes near us in London where at really stupid times like 5pm or 8am and also when we did take DS1 to a class he got little colds etc occassionally so missed a lot of the classes we'd paid for so gave up and taught him ourselves. We recently bought a book put out in Australia, but it's pretty much common sense. Is it nice to be in a class with other babies but we have found that there are always lots of other babies and kids at the pool anyway. DH has actually found a group of dads who always take their kids to the pool on a Friday at the same time so if he is around he takes DS1 then. He is quite confident now and 'swims' by himself as well as going underwater etc.

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 16:15

JJ I think you asked about the nappies, ds2 does occassionally seem to get cranky if he's a little wet but then other times he can be saturated and not bat an eye lid. I'm about to start him on the next size up which. In this size I have a lot more of the more absorbent hemp nappies. I found with DS1 as he got bigger and more mobile he needed more of the thinner shaped nappies. He stayed comfortable longer in these than the cotton bottoms prefolds and could move around more freely.

Well I'm not going to bother keeping anything sterile for DS2 anymore. He did three commando rolls today to get himself off his rug and onto the lawn. Then he grabbed 2 handfuls of the mown grass and shoved in his mouth. Very difficult to get grass out of a dribbly babies mouth.

Hooray DH may come home a day earlier so may be back by late tomorrow night. Apparently weather in Swansea is not nice.

daisydora · 22/04/2009 16:37

Well, my smear was a disaster!

The nurse could 'see' my other cervix but couldn't get a swab to it. So I have to go back tomorrow for the Dr to try If that fails then I have to be refered to Gynocology for them to do it - what a complete arse!!!!

DS still in foul and grumpy mood thanks to teeth. I want the smiley baby on my profile pics back.

Saw Grandad today and all being well, Nan might be home next week - hooray!!!!!

Hope everyone well, will catch up later xx

modernlove · 22/04/2009 16:50

Hello.

Jam I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. Will be thinking about you and your family and hoping for good news when biopsy result back.

Hi Chopsie.

Veggie. When I found cats had been using my veg patch as toilet two years ago I got rid of all the soil (maybe sl extreme measures!) and replaced with compost from my compost bin and some bought compost. Then bought a contraption that senses movement in the garden and fires a jet of water - was amusing to see DH get caught a few times - never saw it get a cat but no poo since!

LadyT. Big fan of Hugh Laurie here and we are addicted to House! Awaiting the next series at the moment. I enjoyed the story you linked to thread btw.
Also no riding for me. My mum was too worried about me falling off to ever let me have lessons when I was younger!
PMK1 - I heart Greys Anatomy too - started watching in early bf days and got to third series - now DS feeds too quickly for me to get through a whole episode! I used to get through two during a feed!

I hope poorly people are starting to feel
better.

Sybil - thanks for update on V

Things still going well on the sleep front. DS just waking for one feed overnight, normally about 4am. He's even napping at the moment but I think swimming this morning exhausted him! He has also been finding his voice over past few days but sounds like a banshee! V amusing and he finds it hilarious when I try to talk banshee back to him!

JJ - you are right about it being so friendly on here (esp when I glance at other scary threads!). Even in my post natal group people are starting to mutter about other people's parenting and showing disapproval. Why can't they just accept people do things differently! (I'm talking minor things - not babies in danger or anything like that!).

Can't wait for DH to get home (he's been down London way for work for a couple of days)so he can catch up with DS and I can relax and watch the Apprentice with cheerfulness!

modernlove · 22/04/2009 17:04

Daisy - sorry to hear about the smear. Hopefully the doc will have more luck tomorrow.
Great news about your Nan though!

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 17:18

Mmm Daisy that sounds uncomfortable, I have to say I assumed you were going to a Gynae to have it done today. Poor you.

pmk1 · 22/04/2009 20:31

Ros Tilly,
Richmond is do-able.... it would be nice to go with a friendly "face"! Can you let me know the information etc? Where exactly in Richmond and I'll check it out!
Modern loving your use of cheerfulness - being a new poster and all!! But I guess you've been with us for a long time so very familiar! Anyway, I will be joining you in a glass of cheerfulness during the Apprentice!!

majormoo · 22/04/2009 20:32

Jam really sorry to hear about your sister. Hope the news from the biopsy is good. I have had CIN3 myself (had treatment in 2005) and used a website 'Jo's Trust' which is for women with/affected by cervical cancer or percancerous conditions. There is a forum on there. It is a UK site but just thought I would mention it as it may be helpful.

Don't mean to be insensitive to Jam but I had a clear smear result last week-it is always so stressful waiting for the results- so relieved that is over for a year.

Hope everyone else is well.
DS2 has fed all day (well that is what it feels like) and just cried when not feeding. Am exhausted and soooo pleased he is now asleep.

pmk1 · 22/04/2009 20:33

Oh also, for all that asked - thanks I am feeling much better today - hence the cheerfulness. Managed a 3 mile walk too. I asked the nurse at my smear and she said the virus can stay in the system for 4-6 weeks, and yes she said there is a nasty strep thing going around

majormoo · 22/04/2009 20:33

should read 'precancerous' by the way and actually men can use the forum too if they wish

daisydora · 22/04/2009 20:35

Just popped the cork on a bottle of cheerfulness in anticipation of tonights Apprentice!

BTW I meant the smear situation was an arse in my previous post not the nurse. She was an absolute star, and was fascinated by my 'situation'.

JamInMyWellies · 22/04/2009 20:45

How annoying Daisy.

Trace hurrah for four hourly send some of that my way please.

Veggie I am a really bad mummy never steralise anything.

Syb hope you are enjoying the wine tea.

Arti a dinner in your honour, wow enjoy.

Went to my first buggy exercise class this morning bloody nora I am so unfit was huffing and puffing the whole way round. Just need to keep repeating I will lose my muffin top before I go on holiday this yr.

SummerLightning · 22/04/2009 20:48

yay, another one in anticipation of the Apprentice here!

veggie I did laugh at you saying your DH says inappropriate things. Mine told some friends that after pregnancy I may have mild piles but that I'm not sure. Over dinner. Was quite funny, they told him to shut up.

Our washing machine is bust and won't drain. Arse. Last time this happened a breast pad was clogging it up....hope that doesn't turn out to be the prob again or I will be in trouble.

JamInMyWellies · 22/04/2009 20:48

Majormoo not insensitive atall I have actually had a look at that forum. I too have had dodgy smears myself and had a CIN1 last year. But great to hear your positive outcome from a CIN3. Fantastic news for your clear smear today.

MomOrMum · 22/04/2009 21:00

Jam ? I am so sorry to hear about your sister. My mom has been battling cancer for a while now and one thing we have learned is that the Doctors seem to always err on the side of being pessimistic. Really hoping that the news is better than you initially thought.

Kimberley - Can I say again - Playtex bottles...wow. We are on night 6 of DS caning the entire bottle, and he probably would have drank more if I could have expressed more. Tonight he even took a bottle from me. This from a baby who previously flat out refused bottles or drank max 2-3 oz.

And re: Peckham/Camberwell?I too live nearby. Technically East Dulwich, but I use Peckham Rye station most often. Was going to say the exact same as Sybil. Really depends on the street. And similar to Sybil, we had a friend mugged at knifepoint on our street, which is supposed to be in a very leafy, family-friend part of E. Dulwich?in fact right in front of one of the most family-friendly pubs in the area. So there are no guarantees. Happy to offer thoughts on specific streets if you have somewhere in mind and I am familiar with it?

Trace ? Yay for 4 hourly! I had a very similar experience to you?.2 hourly for ages, then 3 hourly, then very quickly to 4 hourly (at night?.still on 3 hourly by day).

PMK ? Re: swimming?.we have been going to the hydrotherapy pool near us and it is so much fun! I decided not to bother with lessons and, so far, have just been floating around with DS. But I did see that you can download the lesson plans for a few quid from Little Dippers and work through the course yourself? I am going to try this I think.

Veggie (and anyone else with an Amby Hammock) ? What do you normally do about the Amby when you go on holiday? When we went to Canada in Feb we took the Amby and were glad we did because he slept so well. But we?re going away again in a couple of weeks (Napa Valley in California and to my parents cabin on a lake in Canada??woo HOO!) and I would love not to cart the Amby. Terrified to see if he will sleep in something flat and stationary though! I was going to buy the BushBaby NestEgg travel tent thing, but not sure if I am ready to go hammock-free yet!

ModernLove ? DS is really finding his voice too. He has always been very vocal (ahem) when hungry or tired, but today I noticed him doing a lot of squawking and shrieking for no reason. It seemed like he realised it made me laugh so kept on going!

Hi Chopsie!

Very impressed with all of the gardening! I watered the plants that my MIL planted while she was here if that counts? My garden looks like an overgrown parking lot, except for the 3 containers that MIL filled with daffodils that are now dying. I just can?t be bothered! I want a garden that always looks green and inviting to sit in, but that I don?t have to do anything to?.is that too much to ask?

DS has also started giggling and it makes me MELT every time. Actually, it makes me laugh out loud. And I have a very loud cackling laugh which seems to startle him, so he stops laughing abruptly until he realizes that I am still laughing, so he starts giggling again, which makes me cackle, and on we go.

I heart Gray?s Anatomy. I heart House. Oh, and did I mention I heart The Apprentice? Better go and get into position! DH is away and DS better understand that it is very important for me to watch The Apprentice and that he should stay asleep!

jumpjockey · 22/04/2009 21:28

Hello all, re the squawking thing, it's so funny isn't it?! DD makes random noises of no obvious reason. Apparently they like the sensation it causes in their throats (I guess we've just forgotten what it's like as grownups) so all the yelling and shouting is just for fun

Had a lovely afternoon with dd, we went and sat on a bench by the river and she was lovely and cheery. Really really hope she sleeps beyond our bedtime, it's so dis-spiriting getting into bed and not even having an hour before she wakes up. Come on child, you used to go til 2 at least, go back to the good old days!

MoM the laughing sounds just lovely

veggie that's really interesting about the dampness thing, sometimes they care and other times they're not bothered at all. Just not sure how many times to try it before she'll get used to it - I've only got a certain number that were in the council's freebie kit. Bah. Had meant to be all green but so far that effort extends to using Nature Baby sposies.

Another one here awaiting the results of a second smear - had an abnormal result just before getting PG and while the doc said it would be completely safe to have it done while PG, at the same time the result would be off anyway because of hormonal changes so they'd need to do it after the baby anyway. Fingers crossed still Jam for your sister and good to hear of people who've had abnormal results and come through clear.

MomOrMum · 22/04/2009 21:29

Idiot. Double post and I can't even blame it on a fancy phone.

Oh and forgot to mention that it was me asking about Facebook. I will try to send a request to join the group, but don't really want to post my email address on here (it's my name). So if whoever is managing the group gets a random request tonight, it is me! And if I am declined I won't be offended, I promise.

Kayzr · 22/04/2009 21:47

Evening,

MOM, I am doing the FB group so will add you.

We walked about 6 miles today(DH's short cut wasn't so short!!) and I am exhausted so hoping DS2 sleeps through. We all(except DS2) have sunburn. I have a white mark from my handbag as it is a cross body one!! I am slightly annoyed as the sun cream lotion we got for DS1 hasn't work and it is factor 50 so will be complaining.

Happy birthday to me for tomorrow!!!! My best friend is taking me for lunch and then we're out for dinner in the evening.

Might not be on tomorrow so hope everyone is well!!

MomOrMum · 22/04/2009 21:57

Happy birthday for tomorrow Kayzr! Have sent off the Facebook request so hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to see the group.

Okay, REALLY time to watch the Apprentice now. Hurrah for V+ recorded/delayed TV!

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 22:00

Hello all just feeding ds2 his midevening mook mook. So thought I'd try to catch up.

Mom we have only taken the hammock with us once otherwise he either sleeps in with us or we make him a little soft nest with pillows. He def find travel cots a bit hard and uncomfortable but where ever we have stayed away so far they always have big soft fluffy pillows so we put a couple of them either in a travel cot or on the floor and he kind of sinks in like in the nest. He seemed quite happy. In Munich they had a couple of high backed chairs in the room so we put them facing each other then tightly wedged between the wall and my side of the bed. We then put the pillow on the chair and even a blanket over the chairs so he would be disturbed by the light or tele.

I forgot to tell you earlier about the loveliest thing that ds2 did I picked him up to cuddle him and he got both arms around by neck and pulled himself in close to me. I had forgotten that ds1 used to do that, oh it felt so nice. He also does the great noises and chuckles. Sometimes I swear he is giving his toy horse a good telling off. At night now he seems to have given up the dummy and prefers his fingers not sure if that's good or bad but he seems happy. Oh and he has def got the co-ordination to erm...adjust himself.

zoejeanne · 22/04/2009 22:25

Jam I?m so sorry to hear about your little sister, my thoughts are with all of your family and I hope for the best

Nolda your birthday sounds lovely, when is the big day itself?

Daisy your DS is very handsome, and so lovely and cuddleable. And your Nan has recovered so quickly, fab news! Sorry about the smear fiasco (am tempted to say what a PITA )

Indith I hope your DD got some rest in the end, it drives me mad when DD misses her nap and just won?t catch up for the rest of the day. Sometimes I vow never to take her out again unless she?s had a good nap first, but then I start to get cabin fever and have to dash off somewhere to see someone

JJ and Jolly more teeth for the Dec babies, wow. I hate to admit it, but all those people who have been offering opinions on DD?s teeth coming through are probably right ? this morning she had some angry red spots on her bott, which I?ve been told could be caused by the saliva passing through her. Still no lumps in her gums though and generally seems herself, so who knows ?

Jolly I?m with you, on ?networking? bringing me out in a cold sweat! At least we don?t get told off by our bosses if we don?t make new friends at baby groups though (my old once asked me to show him the business cards I?d collected at an event and told me off for not getting any enough, I think I started job hunting not long after that)

Veggie is the V box you have the BT one? Is it any good? (apart from when it reboots in the middle of an Arsenal game) Our freeview box is on the blink and I want to replace it with one that records as well, but don?t have a clue where to start . And hurrah for the possible early return for your DH

LadyT definitely go to Badminton. I was taken to Burghley when I was the same age as your nephew and LOVED it. Sadly I stopped riding when I went to uni and now I?m scared to get back on a horse. It is my biggest regret, that and stopping piano lessons, as I?d love to be able to do both now. And Katie, my friend had a one eyed pony too, she was lovely

Tilly just because my seeds aren?t thriving, it doesn?t mean my garden has nothing in there - my crop of thistles and dandelions are quite spectacular Thanks for the info on teeth, I?m hoping DD is like your DS1 when they start to come through [fingers crossed emoticon]

Trace P is a little star (well she was anyway, but even more so for sleeping for so long), and so are you for impressing the CPN ? big pats on the back all round

Sybil its great to hear V is doing well, do send her our love when you next see her

Another squawker here, to join Modernlove and MOM?s babies ? its great to listen to, isn?t it? And JJ, DD always looks so amused after a big squawk, so I?m glad I know why

JJ I seem to get an abnormal result from every smear and often need another couple before they?re satisfied ? apparently its because I get too tense and they can?t get a proper swab so I always get told off for not being relaxed enough. That obviously makes me feel much better about the whole thing Hopefully your result is for a similar reason

Kayz happy birthday tomorrow, have a lovely lovely day

Phew, caught up. Was going to have a lovely bubble bath tonight, but now thinking I might just jump into bed and skip the bubbles. Night night everyone
