Seeing as LadyT broke the thread...

Lady i've only watched House a couple of times but I actually found it quite annoying. Friends who love it think I'm strange for not liking it. They put it down to it being a medical thing (and believe me the artistic license it takes with clinical situations is really pushing it) but there is something I can't quite put my finger on that annoys me. I think it's the trying to be too many things bit. Funny, quirky & dramatic as well as (appearing) intellectual.

Anyhoo, would be lovely to see Turnip back as it was to see you back WG. Hope baby cinema was good, what did you see?

Oh I love horse riding have ridden since I was little. My dad taught me to ride on our cheeky pony Candy, so not exactly straight backed dressage style more jump on a brumby and ride off type. I used to ride in the bush around where my mum lives in Queensland before I came over here. Since living in the UK I have only ridden when I have been back home for visits. I'm not even sure how to go about going horse riding over here. I should look into it.

Hello again

Went to the gym today and am 29% fat. Which I don't think is good...Worse than that gym man has booked another session with me in 2 weeks so he will be able to tell if I've been again. Sigh. Had hoped that I would look great for SIL's wedding in May but not so much. Am so shallow. Slightly disappointed in self has hoped I was much more concerned about other things but fact that I can't do crossword any more hardly bothers me compared to love handles.

Also thanks so much for listing out the things you've done in your gardens. Inspired me. Also indith have various accounts for ocado so they're always offering 15% off [is there a guilty scamming emoticon?]

veggie am glad you're back in previous guise. And LadyT yes to horse trials surely, and I heart house.

DH has taken to buying me those good hardback editions of PG W to replace my (parent's) battered penguin ones. Just one of many reasons why I love him so.

Here's to sleeping babies one and all.

tillyfernackerpants · 22/04/2009 04:03

Hi all, its amazing how fast it moves on here, a day or so off & its hard to catch up!

daisy good luck with the work request. Iirc they have to at least consider the idea. Also, I'm in the same boat with you re dh & the snip. Unfortunately, I'm pretty certain I don't want any more dcs, but I think he'd like another & is hoping I'll change my mind! Either way, I still think he's being a wuss

chopsie hi & welcome to the thread, it is a good place to know you're not alone!

trace was lol at your chocolate blood level!

katie its lovely when they start giggling, how nice for your ds that he gets it!

summer bless your dh! I haven't told dh my log in as he would probably do the same . Btw, like the new possible name change!

veggie I remember wondering how I could ever love dc2 as much as ds1, feels daft now! And I've just seen you've got a new name

kayz yay on ds2 sleeping through! And good on you for telling BIL where to go, you don't really need people like that in your life

zj glad to know my seeds aren't the only ones which aren't thriving. I'm sure ds1 poking them has a lot to do with it, not the fact that I seem to be agent orange around plants! And re teething, ds1 never really seemed to struggle with his teeth, we might have a day or two of a bit of grizzling but nothing that would make you think he was in pain. Ds2 on the other hand is obviously feeling it as he has this little cry which means he's in pain . Not quite sure if that answers your question

jam I'm so sorry to hear about your sister , fingers crossed & praying she gets some good news

effie is it move day today? Good luck

I'm loving this thread for giving me ideas of books to read as well. Have never read PG Wodehouse but will give it a try now!

Now if anyone is wondering why I'm up posting at 4am when everyone else in my house is asleep, its a lot to do with deciding that ds1 didn't need a nappy overnight, he wet the bed, ended up in (most) of ours & then ds2 woke up. All back asleep now apart from me . Oh well, ds1 in nursery tomorrow am so will go to bed when ds2 has a nap!

tillyfernackerpants · 22/04/2009 04:04

Am off to post on the weight loss thread, good news in that department at least

Kayzr · 22/04/2009 08:41

Morning,

DS2's sleeping through was short lived, he woke at half 5 this morning.

I am not really awake yet so will catch up later.

Hope you are all ok.

SummerLightning · 22/04/2009 09:14

Morning all,

jam sorry to hear the awful news about your sister. I hope she gets better results back than expected.

pmk really hope you manage to shake this horrible cold soon.

njan sorry didn't realise that you weren't on fb, thought you were talking about it. we have an e-mail list with everyone on - you could get on that? I think Effie was the master of it? Don't want to post my e-mail on here as it has my real name in it! (not that it really matters with DH telling everyone he meets my login!)

lal had a giggle at you being shallow! aren't we all? I have had so many strops about my weight in the past few months. The fact my brain is mush doesn't seem to bother me. Is 27% fat bad?

jump wowsers to the tooth! And a little bit of YIKES too.

LadyT here's hoping the long walks shift the weight. Never done horseriding myself. I think I wanted to as a kid but my mum wouldn't let me, probably knew how expensive it can get! House, I'm not really a massive fan, but DH is.

kayz bummer about the sleeping through and then stopping....hopefully it will happen again soon. DS slept through last night!! First time in ages, he did it a while ago for a week or so then stopped. Probably cos DH stuffed him full of milk as I was out!

I had a barbie yesterday, it was great! But DH helpfully told me it was "easy" to light a charcoal bbq and therefore it was unnecessary to accept the generous offer of my friend to borrow her gas one. And then turned his phone off. The bugger. After 4 tries and much cursing it finally lit. And i was trying to feed DS in between attempts so all a bit frantic. But the weather was glorious, and it all worked out in the end. And I got sunburnt.

Then last night I went out mountain biking with my friends who I rode with before I got pregnant. It is a little hard to keep up to say the least. Am so unfit.

Anyway DS waking from a mini-nap now so had better go pay him some attention.

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 09:18

Goodmorning. We are all settled in here nice and early. I discovered yesterday that ds1 actually starts nursery at 8.40am not 9 so have started my day earlier today. I'm now watching ds2's chubby bott bott playing under the playgym. He loves having his nappy off. Am now wondering if it's too early for a coffee or might do some baby yoga with J. Otherwise having a day at home today except will walk up to pick up ds2 from nursery later and might start out early so I can have a longer walk in the sunshine.

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 09:30

SL my DH has a habit of telling people all sorts of things about me being a mother that he thinks are interesting but to others are either boring or a little inappropriate. An example of the more inappropriate is after ds2 as born when people asked DH how the everything went he could just say 'oh great and i caught veggiebaby' no he felt the need to go into detail about how J had come out of my vagina, and when I say detail I mean ALL the details. I found some conversations with friends a little uncomfortable just after that.

traceface · 22/04/2009 09:31

Down at 7, fed at 11 and 3 and woke at 7!! Hurray!!

Jam am praying for your sister. So very sad and difficult for you all.

It was ace to see my pal yesterday and her dd with P's birthday. I was right - she is sleeping through but is obviously not as beautiful as P so we're evens!

Got CPN coming round in a few mins but I think she'll be happy with me - I am!

Daisy - hope the smears go well. Poor you having 2.

Better go and perfect my thoroughly un-depressed smile ready to show it off!

see you later xxx

JollyBear · 22/04/2009 09:43

Hello everyone, just on the laptop checking the directions for the class this morning but thought I's share that I found DD has yet another tooth . That's her third now!!!! Two at the bottom and one at the top. Eeeek!

How exciting that you love Peter's Friends LadyT! None of our friends like it either . I like Kingdom , in a restful Sunday night drama sort of way. It also features Tony Slattery and the housekeeper from Peter's Friends! I used to think Tony was quite the dish when he was on Who's Line is it Anyway. Not in Kingdom though, the years appear not to have been kind. Never seen House as DH hates any kind of medical drama.

veggie Sounds like you have a lovely day planned. Also it can never too early for coffee!

Best go, bye for now.

Kayzr · 22/04/2009 10:10

Just had a half chat, half row with DH. He doesn't want me to relactate as he likes feeding DS2 and likes his sleep.

How I feel doesn't seem to matter.

Veggiemummy · 22/04/2009 10:24

Oh Kayz that's a bit crap. Really it's what is best for DS2 and you that is important. What do you think you will do next. You def need support with this and not just from us. What does your mum think, could she be a support. It would be good if you talk to someone who has done this before, have you posted a thread on MN, could you talk to the LLL or some organisation who could put you in touch with women who have done it before? I remember when my midwife for ds1 told me not to express before 6 weeks. I said I wanted to so DH could feed and experience feeding him, she said give him something else to do establishing BFing is more important than keeping husbands happy. I think you may have to decide this for yourself but it would be so much better if he was on side with it as you will need him. Could you talk about maybe him sleeping in Freddies room while you establish, and could there be something else he does like have a bath with D. Also there's another advantage it's cheaper, you don't have to buy formula. I've no idea what the weekly cost of formula feeding is but as ASDA ads say every little helps.

tillyfernackerpants · 22/04/2009 10:27

Kayz, agree with Veggie, if its something you need to do then you should be able to do it.

Veggie, btw, our formula costs £8 per week!

Kayzr · 22/04/2009 10:44

The tins are about £7.50ish and we use about 1 a week.

notjustanumber · 22/04/2009 11:00

Kayz,

I dont want to speak out of turn, but it would be sad not to try, if you really want to BF again. Its great your DH wants to be involved, but could he do something else instead ? (thinks baths or massage or walk or set aside time to play or something ?)

My DH sleeps mostly either on the sofa, or in with DS1 (has the added advantage of keeping him in his bed, since the bars came off) since DS2 was born. This means our intimacy ( ) has a back seat but at least he can get a decent night and I only have to worry about DS2 and myself. Its for such a short time after all. Not for everyone perhaps, but works for us. When DS2 is ~6 months or sleeping well, he will move into his own room and DH will come back.

The upside for me is I get to do lovely co-sleeping in the mornings.

pmk1 · 22/04/2009 11:07

Right back from smear now waiting for mail / packages before I can go for a frantic stressful nice walk with dog & ds
I know what you mean Lady, I hate waiting around for packages, but I missed one last week and they didn't leave a card so it got sent back!! It was a travel bag for our car seat and I really need it before our trip! Also got my makeup coming, and some extra large muslins for summer / Aus swaddling! I haven't watched much of House but friends watch it and love it. I heart Greys Anatomy though! dh just laughs, I always give ask him if he's off to "Joe's" after work with ALL his colleagues every night!
Horesriding - had horses growing up - did (quite ametuer) competative show jumping, then I kind of stopped riding as much but my horse was young and keen, and I wanted a car so sold him after tears to a lovely young very keen girl, and bought a car with the $'s I haven't been on a horse for ages, but I really want to again as soon as I get the opportunity - dh has never been on a horse and is terrified so I'm determined to get him on one, as it may be the one thing I can be better than him at! He's not too great at tennis either so I'm planning a game on our holiday. I played him about 12 months ago as we had a court at our house in Devon, and I was winning 40-15 when I twisted my ankle and had to be carried off the court!
Trace great news.....
B has not been as hungry as usual these days, and is certainly not doing 5 x 7oz feeds daily even with the top ups - but he seems ok
Right - nappy change needed..... ps sorry in advance for spelling !!

tillyfernackerpants · 22/04/2009 11:15

pmk, I heart Grey's Anatomy as well! Am just catching up on some episodes this morning in fact while ds1 is at nursery!

jumpjockey · 22/04/2009 11:21

Morning all more lovely sunshine!

kayz just to echo what the others have said, it's got to be your decision really as it's your boobs that would be doing the work seriously though, there are plenty of ways for fathers to bond and have time with their babies other than feeding them. And if he wants his sleep, it would be easier if you're bfing anyway?

trace hurrah for Phoebe, that's amazing progress as she was 2 hourly only a few weeks ago!

veggie sounds like a lovely relaxed day for you Do you like stroking J's little naked botty? I love cuddling dd without a nappy, her bottom is really as smooth as the saying would suggest! As the weather's turned lovely I tried her with a cloth nappy this morning but she weed in it within minutes and then got cross. How do you get past that stage? I don't want her upset for ages but then at the same time changing her as soon as she wees will mean hundreds of nappies!

SL glad you had a good barbie in the end, boo to dh about the ease of lighting it though!! DDs cough much better now so hopefully she can restart her frantic social whirl (ahem )

tilly hope you were able to get back to sleep. dd has returned to her waking at 11.30 then every couple of hours thing so may be joining the night shift again!

lal boo to obsessing about %s, if you look good and feel good that's what counts. I say that having had a few ishoos in the past and am much happier now not giving so much of a toss.

Oh one body question though - those that had a linea nigra (sp?), is it still there? Mine appeared at about 7 months and is still there, how long do they take to fade?

pmk hope the cold goes away, and that smear wasn't too horrid.

arti how was the zoo? Sounds like so much fun!

Nolda belated happy birthday! [more balloons] what a gorgeous looking restaurant.

daisy lovely lovely photos, he has such a huge grin

hello chopsie and any other lurkers [wave] do come out of the woodwork, we're quite friendly!

traceface · 22/04/2009 11:53

jj my Linea thing is still there loud and clear! A medical student thought it was a caesarian scar from my dd1!

CPN was very pleased with me [beam beam ]
I asked her when I'd be able to start reducing my meds and she said that the consultant will want me to stay at this dose for 1-2 years as I was so poorly last time. And that's if I stay happy! If I get blue again I think I'll be on them till I retire!

P has just gone back to sleep - she is quite consistent in her 3 hourly feeds now. woo hoo!
Think I might try to do a spot of gardening but it's such a jungle I'm not sure where to start, and I get embarrassed in the front garden in case the neighbours judge me by my obvious lack of green fingers. They're probably watching me thinking "why on earth is she pruning that in April? I can't believe she's planted that in a full sun spot - it won't thrive there! I wonder if she realises her pots are full of brown twiggy dead things?".....Think I'll start in the back garden!

artichokes · 22/04/2009 12:19

Morning all

We had such a lovely day yesterday. DD2 loved her swimming lesson and smiled throughout - even when thw teacher dunked her underwater! It was a miracle as she has always hated her bath. I loved being in the pool with her, splashing her around and making her giggle. Battersea zoo was also great. We had a boiling picnic in the park and then petted some animals. DD1 made me pet then all as she is apparantley "too little".

I am amazed at all the teeth coming through. Congrats to little JJ and JB.

Also huge congrats to little Trace for the sleeping and big Trace for being so happy.

Sorry to hear you are still poorly PMK. There is a nasty strep throat infection doingbthe rounds. If you get your to to swab it then you can get the right antibiotics and it should go. I love Greys too but am too embarrassed to let DH see me watching it as he thinks it is utter tripe.

Kayz have you found out how to do relactation. If you want to do it you need your DH's support. Does he understand why you want to do it?

Lal thanks so much for yet more brilliant advice and words of wisdom re BF and mastitis. I feel I should be paying you as you have helped me so much. We are in a period of calm at the mo as I feel fine and the ABs no longer seem to bother N's tummy. Of course when it all feels fine luke this I think I will just keep going but DH is getting v nervous as he is off to Canada and then Georgia with work in the next few weeks and he wants to know I will be ok. Good luck wirhbthe gym, I don't think I want to know what percentage of my body is blubber.

Well I have to go and buy a smart top to fit over my spare tyre. I have a dinner in the House tonight thrown by my old Chairman to thank me for the work I did. Yikes, need to think intelligent thoughts...

Right

Dare I now type "oh no"?

pmk1 · 22/04/2009 12:46

Arti Do you need a new phone too?? or are you hanging out with Lady?
Where do you do swimming lessons? Are they one on one or a group. I'm looking for some but can't really start until mid May after our trip. I want to do Water Babies but they aren't doing my local pool Anymore so I will go to either Kingston or Putney I suppose.

katie3677 · 22/04/2009 14:25

Arti LOL
Veggie, you're alright love, I can't be arsed to name change now.I get so confused by others name changes that I'd probably forget who I was!
Trace so glad P is giving you a bit more of a break and that you are feeling good.
LT I love Peter's Friends, was always considered a bit wierd by my firends for this though, no idea why.

I am about to start riding again. DS loves it so have promised him that he can have riding lessons in the Summer. Thought I would take the opportunity to go off for a hack whilst hedoes that. I learnt to ride in Queensland too! I lived in a place called Canungra until I was 3 as Dad was in the army. I had a tiny little Shetland called 'squito (said with an Aussie accent!). When we moved back to the UK I had a one eyed pony called Joey who was my best friend for years, we did Pony Club together, although I managed to fail all of my tests because he couldn't see very well, and actually I wasn't that great a rider. I'm much more of a jump on the back of a horse and gallop off into the sunset kind of gal', or so I like to think. I used to ride loads in Zimbabwe until I got the fright of my life when a black mamba dropped out of a tree and sent my horse galloping off, leaving me to face the Mamba alone! Took me a while to get over that fall and trauma!
Right, better go and get the boy from nursery.
