Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

suiledonn · 16/04/2009 19:58

Thanks Pinky. I hope we can at least make some progress with her. I feel like my every waking and sleeping minute is occupied by the girls at the moment. It would be nice to enjoy a chat in bed with DH at the end of the day instead of tip toeing around dd1. I'll be keeping dd2 in our room for a while longer yet (partly co-sleeping) but I think it is time for dd1 to have her own space.

Well done on saying 'no'. I find it hard to do that sometimes too and end up in all sorts of situations I could do without because of it.

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 20:10

Evening everyone

I am now blonde again! Always have been really but as hadn't had it coloured since Jan was a bit more mousey brown than i would have liked!

dozy i am the opposite, hate KFC but can be tempted by burger king every so often!
sounds a nice day though daisy think my nerves would have been shot with the cycling and close proximity to water!!

GOODLUCK SUILEDONN hope the nightlight is a success

pinky I have a big sleigh cot that my DS went in at 3and a half months and his sleep pattern never changed. Prior to that we were co sleeping for half the night and half in moses basket.
Hopefully it will be the same for you when the time comes

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 20:16

Arghhh! Just went to put the parasol clip on my pram and they(mothercare, ordered in shop and specifically asked for BUZZ) have sent me the clip for the quinny speedi!

Ceebee74 · 16/04/2009 20:22

suiledonn good luck - hopefully your DD1 will be ok

Daisy I don't think laughing at the tittifers is exclusive to 6 year olds - my 37 year old Dh still thinks it is funny

I LOVE KFC (well I like all 3 tbh but KFC is definitely my favourite) - am now drooling at the thought...not had one since starting my diet in January!!

Pinky sorry you are having anxious thoughts today - you know you did the right thing and it WILL get easier.

Welcome back serendippity - lovely to hear from you.

Re moving bedrooms, we moved Sam last week and it has made no difference to his sleeping - if anything, it is actually better as before we moved him, I was having to put his dummy in at least once a night due to him moaning - since we moved him, I have had to do it once all week Not sure if he is still doing the moaning in the early hours and I just can't hear him and he stops himself?? Anyway, I have heard that letting them have daytime naps in there is a good way of making the transition easier.

Ceebee74 · 16/04/2009 20:39

Meant to ask if anyone else feels time is whizzing past. Have just worked out that I have been on mat leave for 6 months now and have only another 5 months to go so I am over halfway through.....and it literally feels like about 2 months And if the next 5 months go as quick, I will be back at work before I know it

PinkyMinxy · 16/04/2009 20:40

I think maybe I should ask DH to put the cot level back up to the high setting and at least pop Mimi in it to play from time to time.

DD1 didn't get to try it our like that because we didn't have her room ready until she was old enough to go in it, and she was till waking a few times in the nigth when we moved her, and as I say the cot she was in was quite small. My gut feeling is, as you say Chocolategal, ther will be no difference for Mimi, beacuse she will sleep pretty much anywhere (on her sling on the ground in the woods last saturday!), but we shall see.
well, we shall see, at some point, when I dare risk it!

Lol re ITNG there is a lot of sniggering opportunites, I think. My Dcs like the trumping noises the Pontipines make. Hana, DD1 loves the Hahoos, too. SHe has an inflatable one that came with her comic, and she puts it to bed in the dolly cot and pushes it in the trolley etc.
They loved 3rd and bird, and are major 64 Zoo Lane fans! Mimi seems happy to watch anything, but especially likes watching her brother- hours of amusement there. Tinight he has gone to bed being a turtle with a large shell made out of a pillow and a blanket

Daisy have never had KFC (having been a veggie until a few years ago I am a bit of a junk food newbie!n But it all sounds lovely, if a little stressful with the cycling near the river and so on!

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 20:49

ceebee i had the "back to work" reality check the other day when looking in diary! I am back to work in 3 months i thought this time would last forever
On the flip side of that though, i cant wait for the stage that pinky has just described with her DS turtle, that is so so cute.

Oblomov · 16/04/2009 20:51

Yes Ceebee, I feel that time is really flying and that makes me very sad.

phee96 · 16/04/2009 20:54

Daisy and Pinky The cradle bit would fit in the cot but as we have always had the cot at the highest level I have been putting A in it to play when tidying upstairs. We put her Tiny Love mobile in there as it's never worked for helping her sleep, she's too interested in it. I think that's why I'm a bit worried she might not take to sleeping in there - she probably sees it as a big play pen. I'm going to remove the mobile, lower the mattress and start putting her in there for her daytime naps from tomorrow. I'm also going to stop putting her in it to play.

Ceebee I agree that time is whizzing by. I have to remind myself to try and enjoy every moment. The old cliche of 'they grow up so fast' is so true

coolkat · 16/04/2009 20:54

I to can't believe how fast time has gone.

I also can't believe that I found such a fab bunch of ladies to share it with, the highs, the lows, the moans and the groans. X

Thank you ladies. x

PinkyMinxy · 16/04/2009 20:59

Phee, you know I always put DS in his cot to play during the day and he was a super sleeper. I did use to take all the toys off when he went to bed, though. mimi doesn' seem to mind, she'll happily play or sleep most places. I don't think there is any ideal formula, as all babies can be so different.

Yes, the time is flying. It has been whizzing past since I got PG with DS nearly 4 years ago!

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 21:02

Aww that's lovely coolkat and so true.
Right off to watch ER, here's to sleepy nights everyone

phee96 · 16/04/2009 21:15

That's good to know Pinky, I think I worry too much sometimes

I knew there was something I forgot to say... My sister had her baby three weeks ago, Ella May 8lb 10oz two weeks overdue which is exactly what my sister predicted (date not weight)

Also, I've added some new pics of DD

5inthebed · 16/04/2009 21:20

Good luck for tonight Suiledonn Phee your DD is gorgeous, she has a lovely bright smile. Sumo likes to stand a lot on his legs like your DD in the first picture. We have a Jumparoo for him, which he loves.

Took the boys to the local soft play, and Sumo showed off by sitting all by himself . He is still wobbly, but can sit unaided for a few seconds. He is growing up so fast!

I do think the time is going by so quickly. I can't believe Sumo is nearly 5 months already

Ceebee74 · 16/04/2009 21:23

Phee your DD is lovely. Now, I am trying to drum up more people for our Northern Ladies meet-up on Monday morning - how do you fancy a coffee with us at a play area near Meadowhall?? We are all lovely and don't bite (well I don't think so anyway )

5 well done to Sumo for sitting up. Sam is actually quite good and only needs the lightest of support for sitting - in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he sits before he rolls!!

cricri · 16/04/2009 21:26

Evening all!
Well, we didn't see the consultant after all, just the paed registrar, but he was the one who saw E when we were in the children's daycare unit back in January so he was familiar with her case. Anyway, he wasn't aware that any referral to GOSH had been requested and he was of the view that it isn't necessary given that her kidneys are now normal. We now have another appt in 5 months' time, followed by an ultrasound scan of her kidneys just to see how things are. Thanks for your post Heartmum, I did ask if the high BP could be linked to something else but the paed said no. They did take a reading from her leg in January and it was no different to the ones done on her arm. They tried to get another reading today but couldn't. Those electronic machines don't seem very reliable for babies.
Good luck Suiledonn, hope DD1 has a good night in her own room.
Pinky Glad your session went ok. It takes time for your brain to process everything that counselling stirs up so what you're feeling is entirely normal. It will settle down in the next few days and it will also get easier. Sounds like you're making good progress already.

cricri · 16/04/2009 21:30

It took me so long to write that last post that I missed loads of posts! Time is flying by here - I keep looking at photos of E in the early days and can't quite believe she was that small. I also can't believe that I have to say she's five months old when people ask! Saw a few newborns at the hospital this afternoon who were very sweet and made me think back to those early days but I definitely don't feel broody!

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 21:35

cricri what are they classing as normal? No dilation at all? I ask as they class Ewan's as normal now yet the left is still 10mm.

ruthosaurus · 16/04/2009 21:40

Hi all,

Flippin' 'eck - as Lacks says, it has indeed been like Picadilly Circus here today. I know I am going to miss some people on the big shout outs so YO! to everyone who has popped back in after a break, for starters! Thinking of "yo", where's Monkey?

Pinky, my stepmum hasn't seen any of her family in a couple of decades because they just never got on from the word go, and DH has a brother that no-one is talking to now because he is a very very difficult person(stealing from family, violence, abandoning his partner and son, manipulative etc etc). I didn't talk to my own little sister for 18 months when we were in our early/mid twenties. Sometimes it's just good not to talk!

Vbab, ooooooo, v exciting. IKWYM as if I thought I wasn't going to have another kid I would be a bit gutted. Much as I love Fin, he is already turning into a tiny weeny boy rather than a large new baby, or so it seems sometimes. Mind you, he is loads more fun now he is more interactive. We do people watching together and everything.

Phee, congrats on your niece and what lovely pics of your DD! She and Finbo are definitely out of the same mould although she is much daintier and less hulking. But they do have very similar cheeky grins and that ace baby hairdo.

5, yay sitting! I am duly impressed.

Finbo has been really off today - whingy, screamy and needing lots of cuddles. I am not sure whether this is linked to his trouble from last week as we have done another sample (Fin provided it, I bottled it) for the hospital as they want to be sure what is actually wrong. Mind you, it could just be that he hasn't had a poo for 5 days...

Got to go, DH is ignoring the washing up again and I am going to end up doing it, never mind that my sodding knuckles are bleeding and cracked and sore. Honestly, he does one bit of housework and thinks he can rest on his laurels for the rest of the week. Yesterday I took Fin out in the pram for 2 hours so that DH and he could have uninterrupted naps (if they are both in the bedroom they wake each other up), and today I took Fin for his hospital wee sample on my own so that DH could get some things done he has been meaning to for ages. When I mentioned that I'd gone out to give him a bit of space he said "Yeah, but yesterday I was asleep so it didn't count as me time." He is going out tomorrow night and Sunday night and is still managing to feel hard done by, although to be fair he did offer me the chance to go out on Sunday in his place, even though we both know Fin isn't accepting bottles at the moment.

Gah. Okay, I feel a lot calmer now and am much less likely to throw a plate at his stupid head. And he did put Fin down earlier. Sorry for the long rant but I really needed to get it off my chest.

Night night if I don't get back on.

Emmanj · 16/04/2009 21:50

Glad all was ok cricri at the hosp. i also had to take DD for BP a little while back and they couldnt get a reading off those machines - they are a nightmare.

Yeh time is flying by, soooo dont want to go back to work! Hopefully gunna do 2 days part time from Sept.

Hope evryone has a good night and we manage to get some decent sleep! i need it, DD has been a complete whingebag all day and im hoping tomorrow will be bettter!

vbab78 · 16/04/2009 21:52

Just f**king lost a massive post.
ceebee - Ok SOLD. See you on Monday. Next time would be nice for you all to meet DS too so maybe not on a Mon or Tues? I would need to leave VERY latest 12.30 to pick DS up from school.
dozymare - Hope you feel better than this morning. Please try and rest . Well as much as possible.
serendippity - Welcome. Dont worry about not posting much I havent either a lately. But these amazing ladies are very forgiving.
5inthebed - Congrats on feeling refreshed. I could do with some of that. Sorry about that bloody parrot. I'd be tempted to put it outside . Dont mean it about the parrot. Dylan sounds lovely.
twinkling - Maybe co sleeping is making DS clingy but i'm sure he will grow out of it. I personally would never and havent with DS or Alyssa let them sleep in my bed with or without me for lots of reasons just dont want to. Maybe it is just their personalities but they both havent been "overly" clingy day or night and have gone into the cot bed in their own room and now DS in his bed no problem.
lacks - congrats on getting to the park. love the picnic. YUM YUM.
phee96 - sorry only advice on moving from crib to cot is just do it. That's all I did with both mine and been fine. Just check on them regular like always and put at bottom of the cot.
tegan - thinking of gettting DS's UFO walker out of the loft for Alyssa as she loves standing up.
suiledonn - good luck with DD1.
pinky - just handle your sister like your mum the other day and to cheer you up remember DH doing the victory dance . Well proud of you.
chocolategal - i had a back to work reality check the other day too . Really looking forward to our family hol abroad in July but then realised I am due back at work end of Aug. Was ok about going back until heard recently things arent good at work and work days cut to 4 for full timers to avoid redundancies at the mo. But also visited twice since and it was a horrible atmosphere like a funeral palour. DONT WANT TO GO BACK! But if a chance of redundancy dont want to miss out on 8/9 weeks pay.

PinkyMinxy · 16/04/2009 21:55

Rutho is there anywhere really near you can just go out to for an hour or so in the evening? I guess I'm lucky where I live because there's lots just up the road, so I canb run back and boob mimi into submission should need arise.

And thanks for sharing. Makes me feel a bit less messed up!

CriCri I am so glad you DD is ok, and I hope you get the full all clear very soon.x And yes. I feel I'm getting somewhere, which is fab, since I've only been going once a week for a couple of months.

Phee your baby is so sweet!

PinkyMinxy · 16/04/2009 22:02

Yay vbab so golad you are coming. I can't be there too late as will have to get back for DS, but it will be lovely to see well, it wont be everyone, but you know what I mean.

I meant to say, Twinks, I really don'tthink co-sleeping makes babies clingy at all. It's just a phase that some babies/toddlers/children go through, IMHO.I have met clingy strict GF babies and AP babies alike. I think if they get what they need they will be ok- for some that is uninterrupted sleep in their own bed, for others it's snuggled up next to mummy or Daddy. I haven't had mimi in my bed much, becasue she doesn't seem to need it, she is happy being in her crib next to me, but if she wasn't, she'd be in bed with me no question!

ruthosaurus · 16/04/2009 22:12

No worries, Pinky - families, eh? Can't live with them, can't legally drop them down a well...

I can't go out round here as I am a big wuss and it is one of those areas you read about on the news every now and then. The children's playground across the road from us has an anti-gun-crime mural for - and by - the kiddies in memory of their friends. I want to move to a suburb and have a patio with furniture that won't get nicked.

It's okay during the day, though, and the facilities for babies are amazing due to Sure Start.

Vbab, yay! Glad to hear it! I personally can't wait til Monday.

5inthebed · 16/04/2009 22:14

Just put a new photo of Sumo on my profile sitting

Pinky, had to giggle at "I canb run back and boob mimi into submission". The things us mams have to do just for a bit of time to ourselves!

I'm not sure whether to get a walker for Sumo or not. I have visions of DS2 spinning him around the room. We have laminate flooring, so the spinability wil be fantastic . He has a jumparoo at the min, but he is stuck in one place.
