Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

barbareebaa · 15/04/2009 23:34

Rutho - glad results didn't show a serious infection but sorry they weren't more conclusive. Must have been exteremely worrying/ startling to have green nappy. I too am losing faith with GP's. Bah!
Weaning is still a mystery to me. I probably will try W on something else before he is 26 weeks just because he seems so keen but I don't know what or where to start (but won't be cornetto!!!)

barbareebaa · 15/04/2009 23:38

do you think that would be o.k? I thought about that too.. hmmm he is with dh in bedroom and I can hear him crying so am going to grab and see what temp in there now and have a feel.
It's all so worrying. My instinct says it would be fine but as soon as any doubt is placed in my mind I feel I can't trust myself.

PinkyMinxy · 15/04/2009 23:39

barbs I'm sure he'll be ok. Is he wearing a sleepsuit? If so you could just try taking tha off, even putting him in in just his nappy, if you are worried.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/04/2009 23:55

barbs, I'm sure he is fine.....2.5 tog bags can be used year round and although it's warm in there now, it will get colder in the night.....they were forecasting a frost on the weather forecast for some parts.

rutho...glad fin's wee is back to normal and that the paed was sensible about things...no sense in using ABs indiscriminately.

I really must go to bed...I get one decent kip and think I'm superwoman, and I bet the buggers will be playing musical beds again tonight!

OP posts:
twinklingfairy · 15/04/2009 23:56

I meant to say that I was going to make my own. Have now put something together and don't like it nearly as much as that jingle boobs one
Spent half that much on the beads

Barbs, why not open the window a crack to cool the room down until you can get a thinner bag?
I never knew what tog my bags were! I just popped DD in them. DS has not got into one yet. He is still happy to swaddle, so I still swaddle.
Talking of that, hey you ladies with more than 1 LO.
I think DS should, perhaps, go into his own bed now. But it is in with DD.
She, however has only just moved into the big bed. I am so worried that he will upset her sleeping because he will soooo not like it. And neither will I, the trek.
But MIL is coming up to look after them both for a night, in 3 weeks, and I don't think she wants to co sleep.
Also my own mum is convinced that DS, who screams blue murder when in anyone elses arms but mine, is that way cos he is still in with me.
What do you think. Should I put him in the big cot?

ruthosaurus · 16/04/2009 00:13

Barbs, I just had a look at Mumsnet's weaning advice and am going to try and waiit til 26 weeks. But it is totally whatever you choose to go with - don't think I am soapboxing!

Twinkling - PMSL at opening a window, just cos I didn't thunk of that before.

I am going to ignore the antibiotics - I think you're right, Lacks - if abs were used and prescribed less indiscriminately then we might be in less danges of superbugs. Also, I am apparently allergic to penicillin and its horde of little friends so will be extra cautious with Finbo. I have a friend whose baby daughter became lactose intolerant after being given ABs and I know that one of the reasons I had a {v early, non traumatic) MC when I was 19 was that I got pg in the first place cos ABs interfered with the Pill.

Gtg, time for beddy byes. Night night and hugs to all. Sleep tight, and don't let the buggers claim pay-per-view porn on your expenses, eh?

SausageRoleModel · 16/04/2009 00:59

hi everyone

I am very about not posting for ages - its almost the end of a whole new thread!. No massive traumas, but I had a difficut couple of weeks with very little sleep which drove me a bit bananas and I was quite depressed (did wonder if PND, and have had MH issues in past, but think it was just exhaustion). Anyway, cutting a long story short, we started weeT on solids quite early (16 weeks) because of this (as she wouldnt take a bottle) and I was very conflicted about it and worried I ws not doing the right thing, so backed away from talking about it. She is thriving now, and I am feeling much better, (and I know I would have had nothing but support on this thread, but when I get depressed I back away from all social contact, and I kept on getting wound up reading strong opinions on the weaning forum!)
Anyway, apols for absence and mememe post - I hope you are all getting on well - will try and have a catch up read but can anyone summarise the important bits I have missed - have you all got rolling over babies? who else is on solids? How is it going?

ruthosaurus · 16/04/2009 07:30

Hi Sausage, welcome back! Don't worry about not posting for a bit, it happens to the best of us. I'm shocking for it and disappear for weeks on end.

There is a meet-up in Sheffield on Monday 20th - are you Northern enough? IYSWIM

Buggins got us up at 6:40 this morning, but he slept through so it's okay really. But I am in sore need of caffeine. Just off to try an electric breast pump that I borrowed from my friendly local bf advisor, bless her. I tried it last night but it didn't do much apart from make me feel a bit like a sore dairy animal.

Anyone else for COFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? However did I get by without it?

PinkyMinxy · 16/04/2009 08:00

Morning.

Hi Sausage!Stay with us, lovely.

Twinks it is very frustrating when that happens. Sometimes I spend ages trying to work out how to make something then find someone is making a really nice whatevr of it for a fraction of the costs of the materials I bought. V.frustrating . However, those neckalces are made with super-tough cord and very securely tightened- mine has been pulled very hard and chewed by toddlers and is still going strong.

Off to watch the aeroplanes today with the PIL. FIL used to be involved in making them and he'sa mine of information, and we have lovely chats about design and aerodynamics (much of which goes over my head!) DD1 likes watching them take off.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2009 08:13

Hi sausage Good to see you back amongst us. And please don't worry about opinions/judgement on here. We all do what we need to as parents to get through it. DS1 was weaned from 14 weeks and even given my history of coeliac disease is fine.

summary:

Babies: quite a few on varying degrees of solids, quite a few at varying degrees of rolling, a few teeth, lots sleeping through, some hardly sleeping at all, a couple of haircuts and one sitting up (clever baby obs )

Mums: Dozy has been poorly with tonsilitis/glandular fever, I had my gallbladder removed, Ladybuzz and her DH are AOK, Hana has a new job, there are a few new faces (5in the bed being the most recent), lots of scrabble games on FB, some of us actually having a social life again , MonkeyM is going to France for a couple of months in the summer .....erm....what else?

Best night ever last night with bumble waking at 1.30 for a feed and then going back to sleep until nearly.....can we have a drumroll please.....eight o' clock . He obviously likes it in the very dark big bedroom with no lingerine Eau de Mum to distract him

blardy hell rutho, you're up early for someone who was up late with C de R

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 08:22

Morning
Hi sausage
Sounds like a lovely day planned pinky, enjoy the planes.
Fab night daisy, looks like the new sleeping arrangement is working!

I'm leaving DS with MIL today as I have a much need hair appointment!

Ceebee74 · 16/04/2009 08:31

Morning everyone

Daisy love your round-up - fab! And well done to Bumble - maybe he just wanted his own space A friend kept her baby in the moses basket in their room until she was about 9 months old (mainly because they didn't have anywhere else to put her) and she wasn't a petite thing by any means....anyway, she never slept through until the day they eventually could move her into a cot - slept through for the first time!!

Rutho wow you are an early bird this morning considering how late you were up last night We had a 6am start aswell as DH had to get up at that time to catch a plane to Edinburgh for the day.

Vbab sorry about Monday....what a bummer as I am sure DS1 would have loved to play with your DS (2 peas in a pod I think )

Sausage welcome back Don't worry about weaning T - it is your decision and what is right for T, ignore anyone else's opinions on here. Unfortunately that is one of the things I dislike about MN (probably the only one tbh) is that people are so opinionated about certain topics that they can upset/put people off.

Strange night here with DS1 - he was up 3 times (which is unusual for him these days) and each time crying (normally he just wanders into our bedroom once to ask for his CD to be put back on) and the last time he was crying for 'daddy' which is unheard off Of course daddy still didn't get out of bed to comfort him
barbs how did W sleep - what did you do in the end?

Oblomov · 16/04/2009 08:48

Morning Sausage. Welcome back.

Oblomov · 16/04/2009 08:50

Agree with cebee. nice summary daisy. and barbs, how did you get on - don't get too hung up on the tog - I think was it twinkling, who like me, doesn't even KNOW the tog of our bags - and our little ones are fine.

LadyBuzz · 16/04/2009 08:54

Morning

Welcome back Sausage good to see you

Well done Pinxy lol at DH dancing.
I also love ikea

Coolkat hope things are a bit better today

Rutho glad the test results weren't anything nasty.

Jay is still rattling like a tractor but it will hopefully clear up soon, I know it isn't causing him any distress but its horible to hear him like that.

I'm off out for lunc today with a girl that I met in a PN group when DS1 was born that I have seen every week since, her DD1 is the same age and DD2 the same age s Jay - its lovely! Looks like it might be a nice day too.

Hi everyone else

ruthosaurus · 16/04/2009 08:57

Ladies, twas not my intention to get up so early [growl at whingy baby emoticon]. However, DH has now made porridge (and keeps talking about how nice it was) and Finbo has just finished his morning nap, bless him, so all is well chez Saurus. It is crappy outside so we are having a DIY in our pjs day.

Barbs, was baba okay last night?

LackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2009 09:05

I'm still having problems with PN threads taking an age to load. Takes about 1.5 to 2mins and locks up my computer when it does it. Only PN threads...the rest of the site is fine. Very odd.

this is what dial up used to be like though...how quickly technology moves on and we forget!!

For those of you with DC old enough to watch TV, AIBU in thinking the people who thought up In The Night Garden were having a larf naming the birds Tittifers? Every time they come on DD points at the TV and screams TITTIES . Can't wait for her to do it in the middle of Tesco

watching planes sounds good Pinky; unfortunately there isn't anywhere at Leeds/Bradford to watch them or we would.

Weather is horrible here again. All week it's been cloudy and cold in the morning and not clearing until quite late in the afternoon, then been lovely. But, I'm taking the DC to the park regardless; they need to run!

vbab78 · 16/04/2009 09:20

quick post ... forgot to tell the most important bit yesterday ... i told DH how I was pretty sure dont want more kids but a little doubt. SO he cancelled his hospital consultation on Wed. We decided to in a year or 2 see if we are 100% no more then him have snip rather than a doubt now and the op then regrets. Cant believe it we managed to chat and come up with a JOINT grown up decision.

BAD DREAM last night ... I dreamt I caught DH in the act cheating on me. Then in the dream when I confronted him he was without the words saying my fault and what did I expect like it didnt matter. He in the dream was surprised when i said we were finished and i was taking the kids and leaving him. HORRIBLE.

Ceebee74 · 16/04/2009 09:44

Vbab big decision Was just thinking that on Monday, could you not come along with A for an hour or so to have a coffee - we are meeting at 10.30ish (what time would you have to leave to pick DS up?) Not pressurising you but would be lovely to meet you and A and it seems a shame for you not to come (and I assume you wouldn't need to pay to get in with just a baby)....am I selling it to you enough yet??

Dozymare · 16/04/2009 09:45

so much to catch up on!

barbaree forget being a rockstar, I hear that Guitar Rock Hero (on the Wii) is meant to be v.good. a good friends DH was telling me the other day it helps with his actual guitar playing I just imagine him jumping around the room singing "it's the final countdown" Ha Ha

pinky am very proud of you - well done, can 't have been easy but I am sure it is the first step of many. What was her reaction???

I also HEART Ikea. But only coz I love the mini dime bars!!!

I am not too good today, feel absolutely shattered which I think is a knockback of having had the glandualar fever. thankfully my tonsils are good, but I feel as if I have urned from Tigger to Eyeore overnight. Haven't got the energy to exercise either which has the knockon effect of making me feel sluggish as well. actually feel a bit low which isn't like me. Has anyone else had Glandualr fever (I think someone had) and if so, how loing will I feel like this for??? Sorry again obs. Was really looking forward to it.

Welcome back sausageroll glad things are better for you!

taken me ages to write this in between sorting the kids out......bet I have X-posted lots!

Dm xx

serendippity · 16/04/2009 09:49

er..does anyone remember me?? My ds (Dylan) was born on Nov 19th last year, and I have been SO bad at getting onto mumsnet since then! I was on Post natal thread for a while (before i got bad at getting onto that as well )
Can i come back please?!

5inthebed · 16/04/2009 09:55

Wow vbab big decision! Glad you both agreed on it

Twink could you maybe move the cot into your room to see if DS settles first?

Well I only got up once last night with Sumo at half 2. He woke up at 6 again, but snuggled back in with me until 9 . Feeling really refreshed today, a whole new woman.

We've had my MIL's stooooopid african grey parrot staying with us while she has internal work done in her house. It was meant to stay for 1 week, we are in week 3 . I hate the thing. Its been driving me potty all morning. Funny thing is, it has started imitating Sumo's squeals. That'll go down well with the old bat!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2009 10:06

hi serrendippity......of course you can come back

good to hear from you again. It's getting pretty busy around here again, which is good.

wow Vbab, am a little bit of your decision. Although realistically I'm getting a little long in the tooth to be thinking about more, and I can barely cope with three, let alone any more, I do have pangs of regret that my baby bearing days are over; there is something sooo special about having a newborn baby to cuddle.

PMSL at the parrot 5 . Can you teach it to swear as well?

chocolategal · 16/04/2009 10:16

hi just a quickie before hairdressers dozy it was me who had glandular fever. There is nothing you can do for it except rest as much as possible. I remember it wiped me out for ages! Just little things like taking a shower some days seemed like I'd run a marathon then other days I was full of energy so did too much those days and then a few days later it caught up with me and i was exhausted again! Sound familiar?
I think it prob took a good 6-8 weeks to get over it completely.
Just take it easy when you can and hopefully you will get over it sooner. Much sympathy for you as it is truelly awful. Xx

juanitad · 16/04/2009 10:58

Daisy, there is a layby near Leeds Bradford where you get a fantastic view of the planes taking off and landing. Will attempt to explain how to get there next time I see you!
