KT... that's what we refer to as 'a good day' enjoy, you won't get many of them

Calico1 · 03/04/2009 13:39

KT - I agree with PT! DD was awake all day yesterday and today seems to be in hibernation. They are fickle creatures - just go with the flow!

KT1983 · 03/04/2009 13:46

iv just done her temp and its fine - guess she is in hibernation. just seems a little bit weird.

PinkTulips · 03/04/2009 13:50

KT, aaron slept all day last sunday, one stretch over 6 hours long and only woke for short feeds before and after.... he was back to normal the next day though unfortunately

honestly, they'e mad little creatures, sometimes they're just sleepy!

KT1983 · 03/04/2009 13:55

I should make the most of it really & get my jobs done I need to stop being a paranoid mother.

elkiedee · 03/04/2009 15:51

No objection to dh/dp at meet ups personally. Know what you mean about travelling alone. dp wouldn't be able to come at this notice but I'd love to bring him and so be able to bring ds1. You know that you can get a train on the Thameslink route from Brighton and come into St Pancras I think now (was Kings Cross Thameslink), rather than going to Victoria, don't you?

SMS, don't know what to suggest. I've also had to nag dp about not leaving ds1 unattended in the bath a few tmes but that's one nag at least which he's taken on board. ds1 falling over in the bath a few times with one or both us present is probably a big help, as it shows dp why. We're starting to give C his bath in the washing up bowl at the same time as ds1 in his bath as eventually we'll need to bath them together, and I'm hoping to be able to talk to/play with ds1 in his bath again, rather than just feeding C downstairs.

jenniferturkington · 03/04/2009 16:15

yes I will head for st.pancras, I think they are doing cheap fares at the mo too which is a bonus.
I've just been dunking H in the bath with ds , he enjoys 'washing' her (pouring a cup of water over her head)

Pempe · 03/04/2009 16:47

by the way, have realised I did a completely inappropriate smily face after the comment about the pavlik harness, i of course meant

catstar · 03/04/2009 17:00

Just booked DD into nursery next Tuesday so I can come to the meet up . No way i was going to do it with the two of them!

HV thinks Sam has colic - i suspected as much and now hoping that Colief will help - along with some other tips.

Off to watch last nights Greys Anatomy while I feed Sam so will check in later.

Tnx for messages about demon toddlers - good to know i'm not alone!

Beantin · 03/04/2009 20:11

Hee hee, love the emoticons!

Been napping when I can today, so not had time to catch up.

Hope you're all well and looking forward to the weekend. Here's hoping we all get to enjoy some sunshine.

herbgarden · 03/04/2009 20:17

Hee Hee PT...v clever.
What a gorgeous afternoon we've had here this afternoon - hope the rest of you benefitted too from this lovely weather. We've sat in the garden of a friend with DD on a rug and DS running round with the other kids. He's had a temp on and off since Tuesday though and when we got home tonight he lost it about 6.30pm so went to bed with some calprofen, no story,no milk and still with his t-shirt on and no pj's - poor little thing. I need to go and check on him soon - his temp is up and down. Hope DD doesn't get it too.

PinkTulips · 03/04/2009 20:46

can't take full credit... there was a thread earlier about them.

the unlucky playboy bunny and her mates are my dirty mind though [

dinkystinky · 03/04/2009 21:02

Like it PT

SweetTalkinWoman · 03/04/2009 21:07

Love it PT!!

By the way, this is Catstar - have had a name change. Been inspired by SomeMightSay and her use of song lyrics. Unfortunately my taste in music isn't as cool and I am stuck in a bit of a time warp and possibly alone in my love of ELO !

Night night.

MrsY · 03/04/2009 21:32

SWT - for colic, my advice is baby massage (clockwise round belly button, gently stroking down from chest to just under belly button and then gently pulling legs down and pushing them back up), keep him upright, or lie him with his back against your tummy resting on your forearm, burp often during feeds, pat not rub back to burp and colicky babies love sucking so dummies are good. Also have found Tommee Tippee anti-colic plus bottles are great - the ones that are like Dr Browns with the internal tube... Apologies if you've heard it all before!

Hope you've all had a nice day - we didn't get any of Herby's nice weather, but a good friend and her 5 month old came over with my sister, and I created the yummiest soup!

We're now all in bed already - John is supposedly reading but has started snoring, and I'm about to watch an episode of The West Wing on the laptop! Night all!

dinkystinky · 03/04/2009 21:39

Aah, the west wing - DH and I are both total wing nuts! Hope to pass on the love of the WW to our boys too..

Currently watching The Wire - it is very addictive viewing. Though doubt will be naming any children after characters from it (DS1 was inspired by Josh Lyman from West Wing )

jenniferturkington · 04/04/2009 05:13

Up again with the toddler rather than the baby. This too shall pass, this too shall pass, this too shall pass.

SomeMightSay · 04/04/2009 07:43

Catstar/STW
I'm gonna jump in and give the opposite advice to what MrsY said. I wouldn't burp a colic baby more often, in fact I would try to do it less often as taking stoping and staring feeds is a big wind giver, also, although sucking and dummies can and do mostly help relax them, again dummies and fist sucking are big contributors to wind.
Agree with the belly rubbing, the clockwise direction helps digestion and the cycling motions withthe legs will help move any little belly aches and help trapped wind to come out the bottom.

Had another one of those nights here. Dp got in at 4pm but didn't talk to me until Eastenders came on at 8. Everytime I tried to say something, he just grunted and nodded. He has said the bath thing will never happen again, but that's not because of the possibility of ds falling over, it's so I don't nag him, but either way as long as it doesn't happen again, that's all I want.
