I had forgotten how stressful the school run is! My morning went like this:

wake up
feed baby
dh throws things out of cupboard looking for work boots
dh throws things out of kitchen cupboards looking for lunch bag
dd wails about lost pencil case
dh goes to work taking my car and car keys leaving me his keys (his car- no MOT til next week)
dd spills milk all over sofa
feed crying baby again
change dd's clothes
friend drops off her dd
friend's dd falls down the entire flight of stairs
comfort friends dd
shout at dd to put shoes on
leave house
half way there friend's dd decides she doesn't want to scoot anymore- spend next 10 minutes explaining i can't carry bags, push pram and wheel scooter
drop off children
walk home
angry phonecall from dh- had to break into his locker at work as I had his keys- coming home to get keys
feed crying baby
rock crying baby
hang put washing holding crying baby
sit on sofa in messy house with crying baby
eat cold curry at high speed out of the fridge while baby cries
type long post on mn with one finger while too terrified to move in case i wake baby sleeping on lap

Hello all - greetings from sunny Chessington! Just trying to catch up and post while DD is not eating her lunch. All she wants at the moment is jelly - I think she may be teething! at Aaron's teeth PT! I thought DD had been early at 4 months. My mum was apparently born with teeth!

LBB I'm in a similar position to you. In fact a friend of mine was supposed to be coming round yesterday and we were going to go for a relaxing pub lunch, but she called in the morning to say she didn't fancy making the journey because of the bus replacement on the train. Also, being young, free and single she had a massive hangover from the night before..... Cue me being in an even fouler mood than normal. In fact one of my friends (who has only come to my house once in the nrly three years we've been here) once said that it was my fault we didnlt see each other much because I was the one that moved away from Essex.... .

Things no better here really. Still up every three hours in the night, taking about two hours to settle, etc - you know the score. DD still being a little 9you choose the word). At toddler group this morning I was only just holding it together, when one of the mums asked if I was ok and I just burst into tears . Got lots of sympathy, tea and biscuits but was very embarrassed. I think it's just the lack of sleep, nothing more sinister.

On the positive side, the weather is lovely and we're having our patio done this week so we'll be able to make full use of the garden this summer. I'm v excited about it.

My humidifier seems to be working and Sam's eczema also seems a little better, so am hoping it wasn't a waste of money. Dinky sorry there's another cold in the household. I think when the babies have older siblings it's just going to be one thing after another. I find the nasal drops and an aspirator really do work - in fact Sam gave me his first gummy smile while I was de-snotting him one morning .

Sorry for the lack of personals. Hope everyone is ok? Am going to start bringing the laptop to bed with me so I can make good use of the sleepless nights!

Sam starting to fuss for food now, and DD getting bored of Timmy Time on CBeebies....

SweetTalkinWoman · 20/04/2009 12:45

Crikey MS! What a morning - hope things improve for you and you get to relax. Am also doing a bit of one handed typing here!

nkweto · 20/04/2009 12:59

STW don't tell me they can get bored of TimmyTime !! DS's favourite show at the moment.

PT ...TEETH.. oh no not yet ...

Dinky hugs to you re.. mortgage worries, as PT says things can change, and also if you are getting a re-mortgage, is that not only on the amount you have currently borrowed.. ie.. the house value is not really of significance at that moment ? obviously if you wanted to sell or extend your mortgage that would be different but if you are looking for a new deal on your current loan then theoretically with current interest rates could you not get a pretty good deal ? ... and just sit it out till the market recovers, as i am sure your house is lovely even if it needs some work.. if i my assumptions are wrong though.. then apologies for talking rubbish !

herb slightly on a tangent..is your house for let in london ?

MS that is a truly scary morning !!

Calico impressed with the DIY work.. we only have to clear out our under the stairs cuboard and that seems daunting enough !

we are back in the land of chickenpox .. both DS and DD have it.. not worried about DS as he is 27 months and hasnt noticed he is ill yet..but DD is covered and the doctor seemed both concerned and surprised that she had it so i am a bit worried now...

nkweto · 20/04/2009 13:00

oh forgot lbb.. my childfree friends are a bit missing in action at the moment too.. it is hard, but i put it down to different lifestages and hopefully we will all find each other again down the line..

Calico1 · 20/04/2009 13:13

Ooh I love the sunshine - just had a lovely walk with DS and DD. DS is being a little charmer at the moment - and even ate his lunch including broccoli (faints). He actually said 'thank you mummy for my broccoli' - I think he has been swapped overnight for someone else's little boy! Though he has developed a habit of running over to sleeping Lilian and shouting 'WAKE UP BABY!!!' as loud as he can. She is learning to sleep through it thankfully.

MS your morning sounds like hell - go and have a sit down with a large gin cup of tea

STW sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I am having similar sleep problems with Lilian - she takes forever to settle and is still up every three hours every night. I keep telling myself that it will get better....

Calico1 · 20/04/2009 13:15

nkweto oh bad luck with the chicken pox - thought you're DCs had escaped it, poor little mites.

Calico1 · 20/04/2009 13:16

I meant your not you're....doh

PinkTulips · 20/04/2009 13:25

[cries with relief]

dd is back from playschool and is sitting down on the couch happily munching a rice cake and chattering to me. no screaming, tantrumming, whining, fighting or howling.

god i missed playschool

[frantically blokes mind from thinking of the 2 month long summer hols ]

and i've been all organised and booked my car in for a service and timing belt change (96 000 miles and never been changed )

got dd's playschool photos too, i want them all! how the hell do you choose?!

did you guys know they make dummy teethers? bought some for aaron as he only ever wants to gnaw on his dummy (yet it didn't occur to me he was teething ) he laughed at the one i popped in jis mouth but i'm taking that as approval

MS.... good god what a morning am slightly in awe of your hanging washing abilities.... i can barely do it with both hands, hence why there's 2 loads of wet washing sat on the floor next to me in the laundry basket and feck all on the line

if aaron stops licking my boob for longer than 5 mins my skanky floors need doing too [sobs]

herbie, i've heard the teething thing is genetic but alas my nanny was probably the only one who noticed mine and dp's parents are alcoholics who had trouble remembering how many kids they had so doubt we'll find out lol

of your PT success, i've gone cold turkey on pull ups today and the little does just fine out of the house but pooed and peed himself the whole time we were at home earlier

SWT, sorry it's still going so terribly at night for you. sounds like a good cry with tea and sympathy was just what you needed though... hope tonight is a little better.

herbgarden · 20/04/2009 13:26

nkweto - no it's in Reading....near the station so it's a good letting really.

STW It only takes someone to be nice and sympathetic and it's enough to get you going isn't it....glad they were lovely and hope you feel a bit better for a good weep. I know I always do. You will get through it.

MS....god I am so glad I don't have to do a "run" of any sort - sounds like a very trying morning. The thought of going back to work in August and getting two ready to go to nursery and out the house by 7.30am to catch a bus fills me with dread.

I opted for weeding - just having a break

mumoverseas · 20/04/2009 13:42

PT teeth! OMG, hope you aren't b/f

dinky, try not to worry too much about house prices, like others have said, a lot can change between now and January

LBB I'd be pissed off with your friend too. It is hard though when you start to feel like the odd one out. I found that when I had DD 2 1/2 years ago, even when home in the UK I don't really 'fit in' with my old friends anymore.
What doesn't help is that I think I had my children at odd times. when I had DC 1 and 2 I was a 'young' mother and so all the other parents at nursery/school were so much older and now I'm an old hag and all the new mums are almost young enough to be my children (where is the sobbing my heart out smilie?)

STW, Chessy sounds good. I used to love going there and have been thinking about trying to get a few visits in when I first get back to the UK in June as I still have last years annual pass which runs out at the end of June.
Do you live near there? If so, maybe a chessy meet up? Can't remember how old your DD is? Mine is being a complete bitch at the moment.

mumoverseas · 20/04/2009 13:44

Meant to say, MS, what a morning you've had. Sounds like complete madness, I couldn't cope with that, hope you get a relaxing pm/evening

PinkTulips · 20/04/2009 14:23

mos... seeing as i was bf-ing ds1 til a couple of months ago and he has the full mouth full of teeth i think i'll be fine

mslucy · 20/04/2009 14:24

dinky - you'll probably end up paying less on the mortgage, esp if you fixed a couple of years ago.

If you stay with the same lender, you won't have to have the place revalued, so there shouldn't be a problem.

DH came off the fixed on a flat he owns earlier this year and saved a fortune.

Calico1 · 20/04/2009 14:35

Both DCs have been asleep for the last 2 hours....this is not normal . Can't remember what to do with free time......

littleboyblue · 20/04/2009 14:35

dinky Jan is a long way off, hopefully the market will pick up a bit by then, but as you know, you'll always find a way.....I know that's not much help, we just know everything has a funny way of working out for the best in the end. Chin up.

Ds1 showed signs of teething at about 10 weeks, he didn't actually 'grow' a tooth until he was 10 months.

MS sounds like a great start.........hpe day settled down
nkweto sorry about the cp and dc's. I have my fingers crossed their ok.
MoS I'm sure you're not an old hag!!!!

STW I am in the middle of conducting a little experiment, I think Luke is easier in the night if he has had a pre-bed bath. I'm noting it alongside crying and how long that goes on for, if it's just that he's cried for so long some evenings, he's worn himself out or if a bath actually does help him, I'm sure you're all very interested and I'll keep you posted with results.

I wanted to get Luke weighed today so asked my neighbour if she wanted to come but she wasn't up, she said she really wanted to go so I said I'd wait, by the time we got there, it was busy and they wouldn't let us in clinic. Oh well, we had a nice walk anyway. ds1 is having lunch (late) and about to feed luke, then might forget about changing beds and go to park instead

littleboyblue · 20/04/2009 16:08

Remember the other week when I said ds1 was running around yelling "baps"? Well, he has enlightened me. Baps means baby wipes!
I was in the bathroom and was asking him to bring me things to keep him busy and his mind off hitting Luke , so I asked him to bring me a car, a plane, a train, a bear, a bottle, etc, when e was bringing me said items, he was putting them in my hand and naming them, he then bought the baby wipes, threw them at me and said "Baps"

Just thought I'd share.....

littleboyblue · 20/04/2009 16:17

More to share.......Jacob just ran into living room wearing my old prescription glasses (he must be hunting through my bedroom cabinet again....)
And he is now pushing his highchair across the room....does this mean it's dinner time?

dinkystinky · 20/04/2009 17:29

Thanks all re the house worries - you're right, alot can change between now and January. I really like the house and it has huge potential - but it doesnt help that I really miss living where we lived when I was on maternity leave with DS1 as there are far fewer baby friendly things to do round here. Probably just post baby blues talking... here's hoping am too exhausted tonight to think about anything and just sleep!

Did my first pushy mothers session today at Hampstead Heath (Danny kindly screamed all the way there, half the way round and half the way back and slept a grand total of 50 minutes - he was obviously taking notes from his big brother) and god I'm unfit! Many more sessions definitely needed.

Nkweto - so sorry your DS and DD have got chickenpox. I really hope it passes quickly for them and that they dont have a bad dose. Fingers crossed DD will be ok.

MS - your morning sounds horrendous. I hope you're recovering with your bodyweight in chocolate....

LBB - your DS1 has cheered me up no end!

herbgarden · 20/04/2009 18:11

I felt exhausted after my walk to the park yesterday with DS and it really isn't far so you did pretty well Dinky -

DD is being very cute lying on a towel on the lounge floor starkers and is kicking around making lots of shouty girgly squealy noises. I am loving her at the moment - she's just got a bit more aware and is very smily when she's not grumpy about something...she even started trying to suck her thumb this afternoon while she was trying to go for a nap and got really cross when she just couldn't get it in - I think DS was about 14/15 weeks before he could do it.....Oh and DS thinks its very funny to blow raspberries on her naked tummy - she seems to think it's quite funny too

herbgarden · 20/04/2009 18:13

PS doees anyone else find Big Cook Little Cook really annoying....>DS has just discovered it and is obsessed with it ?!

MarkStretch · 20/04/2009 18:24

herb- dd used to watch it, what's weird is they are actually a pair of comedians who turn up on some of DH's football shows obviously out character and I shriek and point 'It's big cook little cook!' and DH does this

SweetTalkinWoman · 20/04/2009 20:29

Am I really sad to like Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small . I've got to know all the Cbeebies shows really well over the last few weeks, and so has DD. I really dislike Lazytown and always turn it off, but she now cries for it . My favourite is now Peppa Pig as I have discovered Nick Jr!!!

DD's speech is coming on leaps and bounds, but I have had a few puzzling moments, like you LBB. When she says "Fimbles" is comes out "bumholes" and when she says "plant" it comes out as the c-word. It's hilarious!!!

Dinky I hope you get a bit more sleep tonight and good you for the keep fit! It find just pushing the double buggy up the hill to our house does me in! Good job we don't live in Peppa Pig-ville or I'd be a gonner.

LBB I am also doing a bath every night with Sam and we've had no screaming evenings since. The trouble starts about 3am when he is impossible to settle after feeding.

HErb it's true that the moment anyone is nice to you it triggers you off. One of the girls from the toddler group called round this afternoon with some flowers and chocolate. It was totally unexpected and of course made me blub again. there are some lovely people out there. By the way, I love that your DD gets rumbles on the tumble (that's waht we used to say when I was little!) from you DS!

Nkweto really hope DD is ok? And the DS continues to sail through CP....

Hi MOS - we are 5 mins from Chessington WOA - a meet up in the summer would be great!! DD is 21 months now - we've only taken her once and it oured with rain so they only had the zoo open. DH and I loved it all but DD's favourite bit was the Sea Life Centre!

Off to stuff some dinner now. My turn to do first shift on the camp bed so I'm v excited about that! No, really.

Night night.
