it's ok.... sad loser i am i never go more than a day without fuelling my internet addiction.

dp calls MN 'your computer lesbians' mr pc he ain't!

herbgarden · 16/04/2009 14:14

ok, you're going to think I'm weird, but my DH doesn't even know I chat to you lot. He'd think it was very weird !....

herbgarden · 16/04/2009 14:15

PT I do sometimes worry about my internet addiction. When I'm computer free on holiday I feel a bit naked....I'm sure I need therapy

PinkTulips · 16/04/2009 17:02

i get twitchy and nervous. the whole week i was in hospital with aaron i kept thinking 'i should google that' or 'i wonder if i could find out about this' or 'i can't wait to tell MN this' only to realise by the time i could get to a pc he'd be home

MarkStretch · 16/04/2009 18:26

Hello everyone.

I am trying to post my nonsense news everyday, I don't want the posts or posters to dwindle!

Swampy will be lurking

We went to an animal adventure park today. Trust me, it sounds better than it actually is, there were few animals and I didn't have an adventure. And it cost £10 each to get in!

The highlight of the day was a small boy on the pirate ship shouting at the top of his voice:

'MUMMY WHEN IT GOES HIGH UP IT TICKLES THE END OF MY WILLY!'

mslucy · 16/04/2009 19:19

I'm still lurking. .
Thought of you lot today as in Corams again today in the pouring rain.
DS didn't seem to care - in fact I'd say he positively loved it, the little mudlark.
Stan was crashed out for most of it - only surfacing for his time on the tit and the obligatory poo. He seems to be doing about 5 a day at the moment - he has inherited DH's productive bottom gene.

The good news is that he is now out of our bed for most of the night and sleeping in his cot. I am also putting him down at bedtime and letting him cry for a bit - something I don't like doing but it was making our evenings a living hell. He seems to get very windy and cross at about 7/8pm and I just thought it made sense to put him to bed.

herbgarden - I totally know what you're saying about the weight thing. I never weigh myself (too frightening) and know I look OK, but would like to get my stomach looking a bit less like an old man's face/baked potato that has been left in the oven too long. I've signed myself up for this thing called pushy mums - where you do exercises in the park with your buggy - and will start once DS goes full time at school. I'm scared it will be yummy mummy hell, but if it sorts out my flabby gut, then who cares.

PinkTulips · 16/04/2009 20:16

pmsl at the boy in the adventure park MS

ds1's current favourite topic of conversation is his itchy penis and it's need for cream 'mooooooommmmmeeeeeeeeee! my penis is a little bit iwthchy.... put cweam on it!'

i beed weirdo's

have to go to sligo tomorrow to apply for a passport (the dutch consulate is rather bizarrely located in an accountants firm there) so am going to go shopping if it kills me, and with all 3 in tow it just might

not that i have any money to spend but ho hum... shopping broke is still better than never setting foot in the shops at all!

mrsy, the only moms i knew who did buggyfit were ridiculously fit yummy munnies so be warned it could be hideous! that said i'm in the same boat as you and herbie... i'm ok dressed but i'm fecking hideous uncovered with the saggy belly, tits and arse my 3 little darlngs have left me with

PinkTulips · 16/04/2009 20:18

beed? might do that too but i meant breed

dinkystinky · 16/04/2009 20:48

MSlucy - which Pushy Mothers are you going to do? I did it after having DS1 (Hampstead Heath and Parliament Hill one) and am going to be starting them again next week (figure Hampstead Heath is a good one to do given all the hills). Will probably end up just doing the Friday Parliament Hill one though as getting the overland over there twice a week will probably end up sending me crazy...

Pink - oi, I definitely dont count as a yummy mummy (scummy mummy maybe or given how often Danny has been on the boob today perhaps a dummy mummy ) and I used to do it - quite liked the ability to get out in the open air, enjoy lovely hampstead heath scenery and meet other mums and their babies. And it gave DS1 a nice opportunity to exercise his lungs in the open air for an hour or so This time I go armed with sling plus buggy for Danny...

Markstretch - £10! Ouch. Though probably worth it for the penis comment entertainment.

MsLucy - also meant to say hurrah on Stanley being in his cot.

thehouseofmirth · 16/04/2009 20:54

I'm here too but only ever have time to read and not type. And I never manage to get on when anyone else is around and end up talking to myself. Though as the only woman in a house of men I should be used to that.

DS1 had a little girl from nursery to play today. A whole 5 hours and pretty much no tears or arguments. Had it been one of his male friends I would have been performing my usual UN peace keeping role. It's fascinating to see the gender differences even at this age.And very funny to see my very strong willed, opinionated boy doing exactly as he was told...

MS that's hysterical!

Calico1 · 16/04/2009 21:08

I'm still around too!

mslucy - 'another baked potato left too long in the oven' belly here. I managed to rediscover my abs after DS but I fear they have disappeared for good this time....

Was in London for a catch-up with a friend yesterday and Lilian was asleep all day - not so much as a murmur, but today she hasn't slept at all since 6.30am - weird little critter that she is. Her eyes keep rolling back in their sockets and she looks like she is going to drop off then the next minute she is wide awake again - must be that double expresso I gave her earlier

herbgarden · 16/04/2009 21:12

Hello !
Love the willy comment.

Since DS has been in pants he keeps saying,"Mummy my willy is getting bigger, I'm trying to make it small again " - I did suggest that if he took his hand out of his pants and stopped playing with it it might shrink back to it's normal size....They start young don't they.

I've thought about the buggy fit as apparently we have one round here. It's not too yummy mummy country round here so I suspect it might be fine !

My mum had a nice day with DD - she took her for a walk this afternoon to show her off to her friends - it's sweet. Took DS up there to pick her up and managed to get my mum to give him a bath so brought them both home fed and in pyjamas ready to throw into bed.

I need chocolate - I've so far resisted.........

dinkystinky · 16/04/2009 21:23

Word of warning about buggyfit Herb - they apparently do running with buggies (Pushy Mothers does power walking - much more civilised!). When was on maternity leave with DS1, one of my NCT group friends tried out the nearest buggyfit in Regents Park - she was managing to keep up (just) with the warm up jog with buggies, then her baby started squalling so she stopped to put a dummy in and when she looked up they'd all run off!! She came to eat cake with me instead of trying to find them...

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 16/04/2009 21:25

THOM - we had my NCT friend and her little boy (same age as DS1) and her baby (4 weeks younger than Danny) round for a playdate yesterday afternoon post Danny's jabs and it really was like a UN peacekeeper mission between DS1 and his little friend (they both really like each other and were very excited about the play date - its just whatever toy one was playing with the other wanted it...)

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 16/04/2009 21:38

THOM.... you haven't met my dd

UN peacekeepers required even when the damn child is in a room on her own, add another child and the nuclear weapons are being prepped for launch

btw, mslucy.... sorry i called you mrsy earlier, weirdly i knew it looked wrong when i typed it but then the urchins started shouting and i forgot to fix it

mslucy · 16/04/2009 22:29

dinky - I'll be doing the Parliament Hill one too, though not until the first week of May as that's when DS1 starts doing afternoons at school (and don't want to pay for childcare).

Also had troubles with C-section scar and wanted to give it plenty of time to settle. I love being out on the Heath so it seemed like a winner. It will be really good to have a partner in crime.

I squeezed into my skinny jeans the other day and they looked quite good as I wore a long top that concealed a multitude of sins (ie baked potato belly).

My fantasy is to be able to wear jeans with a T-shirt rather than a tent - something I've not done since before DS1. Once Stanley stops feeding so much going to cut back on carbs (I find this very, very hard) but I think exercise is the way forward as most of me is ok-ish, just stomach that is truly minging.

KT1983 · 17/04/2009 07:28

Morning,
Just skim read the posts as my laptop battery about to die!
Im having a weight issue too...:-(
I have about 7lbs to lose - but like you say Herb, it feels much harder to shift a little bit of weight rather than a huge amount!

My problem is snacking out of boredom - I have all the exercise, but I just eat too much chocolate & snacks.

I was thinking of becoming a BuggyFit instructor - Shame I dont live in London anymore.

Had a trauma yesterday morning, MIL came over...thought she knew best. Didnt put Gaviscon in Poppys milk...One hour later ( when MIL had left) Poppy was violently sick. It was horrible, she was really struggling with it, nose, mouth, retching etc...I called up MIL to ask if she had forgot 'oh, yeah, I did, why??'
Why??! Cause my sofa, new cardigan, my coat, my carpet & most importantly of all, my baby is covered in acid smelling milk!!
ARRRGGHHH!!!!

mumoverseas · 17/04/2009 07:46

morning all, I'm back and have just spent around an hour catching up on 16 pages of chat. Hope all the coughs and colds and chicken pox better now and that the poor little colicky babies get better. Like the tip on rubbing tummies to make them poo/fart. Will try that later with H who is a little bunged up.

Very of your meet up and hope you will have one or two in the summer when I'm home. I do however think I win the prize for the most exotic meet up as met up with another MNer in Malaysia when we had a hand over for our house swop.
Won't bore you with all the details of our 2 weeks in KL and Langkawi but will summarise the high and low points starting with the lows

Went to the grand prix and it poured down with rain and got soaked through. First half hour of race was good and DD and DS actually fell asleep on the grass how is it they wake at the slightest noise at home but can sleep through 20 F1 cars racing around a track? Anyway, race stopped just over halfway which was a shame although we were in a good position to see them aquaplanning off the track

farking halifax current account card wouldn't work. Found it wouldn't work here in KSA the day before left so phoned to check as due to expire 30th April. They said a new card sent out to my UK address (which I won't get til June) but promised me that the existing one would work til end June. They lied.
Plan B was my Nationwide cards, debit and credit card. Managed to use debit card in a rather dodgy part of KL (chinatown) and needless to say, the next day when about to board a flight to Langkawi it refused to work at airport. Then tried credit card and that didn't work. Managed to get through to emergency number at around midnight UK time and was told cards blocked one used in dodgy area where a lot of fraud and the other was used for a cash withdrawal which they thought was suspicious. Thankfully they agreed to unblock my debit card which I happily used for 4 days then lost the sodding thing! aagghhhhhh Had no choice to report lost so a new one has been issued and sent to the UK which I will be reunited with in June this also means I can't transfer money as to do this online with Nationwide you need to insert the card into a stupid reader.
On the morning leaving Langkawi went to open room safe containing passports, money, credit card (not that it worked!) and wedding ring but soding safe wouldn't open as battery had died. Maintenance man couldn't open with his overide gadget so with minutes to spare they had to get out three more maintenance men with a rather large drill to drill open the safe. Finally got back to KL and managed to get through to credit card department on Tuesday (closed due to long weekend til then) and unblocked credit card so at last I could get some money having had to beg a few pennies from DH who is rather tight.

Went on what should have been a lovely cruise to an island in Langkawi but it poured with rain all day and we got badly attacked my mozzies. Poor DD got bitten all over her arms and legs but thankfully DS escaped

Major downside was the lovely house we stayed in was next to a blardy mosque! as if we don't have enough of that out in KSA we were woken every morning at around 4am Also had loads of problems with power cuts and no ac/hot water which was a pain.

A few positives though, I managed to do one dive in Langkawi with DS1 and DD1 which was nice and even managed a bit of water skiing which was good. Impressed myself getting up first time after not skiing for 5 years although didn't want to risk/make an arse of myself trying mono skiing so stuck with 2.
Had a few nice pina coladas/baileys/wine/tiger beer and even some BACON!

Went to a lovely elephant sanctury in KL and a deer park where DD was able to feed the deer which was nice.
The hotel in Langkawi had wild monkeys roaming around which DD loved and also had a a donkey farm which was fabulous as she was able to go and pet the donkeys and kept kissing them.

Another high, spend easter sunday in Langkawi and finally had some chocolate Just took the kids easter eggs out there so DH and I have our yummy chocolate buttons eggs to look forward to today

Final positive, when I return to the UK in June I will be rich as it looks like I can't spend any money til then so the drinks are on me at the summer meet up

right, off for a bath and then to find the scales for a weigh in for diet to start after I've scoffed my buttons egg.
BTW, what are skinny jeans and abs?????????

dinkystinky · 17/04/2009 09:10

Welcome back MoS - have missed you! Sounds like on the whole you had a good break - though those lows (particularly the mosque next door, the card worries and the mozzies) sound pretty low. Still, not long to go until June when you finally get full access to cash again! Have never tried water skiing (have balance issues on dry land on occasion - god only knows what I'd be like on water) but tried windsurfing in the Maldives a good few years ago - was very good at getting on the board but rubbish at turning so kept disappearing off in a straight line into the horizon, having to fall off, turn the board round and go in a straightline back to the island

KT - hmm, parents and parents in law have this way of thinking they know best. I hope she's learnt her lesson about the gaviscon this time though as am sure would mortify her to know her actions caused Poppy pain and distress. The few times my dad or my MIL have had to look after DS1 they mostly ignored my instructions about Josh and his routine - which meant I'd get home to a toddler in meltdown mode having not napped sat in front of tv having chocolate for dinner at nearly 7pm - honestly you'd think they hadnt had children of their own! Poor you though being stuck with the clean up - hope your carpet and sofa are back to being almost as good as new... Is there a buggyfit near you? If not, if there's a park, sounds like there is a gap in the market ripe for the taking...

MsLucy - am starting Pushy Mothers next week (wanted to wait until Danny could stretch out his feeds abit longer than every 2 and a half hours or so as think that was what made DS1 so grumpy when I started doing it when he was 8 weeks old). Aah, skinny jeans.... I could never fit into those even when not pregnant as I appear to have abnormally large calves Thank god for flares is all I can say...

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 17/04/2009 09:10

Ps Pink - another poo in DS1's nappy last night - but none on his fingers, so at least progress is being made of sorts...

Morning all.....
welcome back MOS I was just wondering where you'd got to and then remembered you lucky lady you were off on your hols. Where did you stay in Langkawi?? We went there on our honeymoon en route to KL and Borneo and stayed at the Datai....it was beautiful, peaceful and a lovely setting in the rain forest with the animals. I found the mossies the only low point of our whole honeymoon. I was covered, day and night, in high strength repellant which was revolting but they are quite rampant. It was also pretty humid (we were there May time). I have a very good old friend living in KL for a few years but I'm not sure I'll go over - I didn't love it (prefer the other big Asian capitals) and it's quite a long way to go with small kids. We're off on our Neilson watersports holiday on June 6th - the last two I was pregnant so no waterski=ing but this time I hope I'll be able to go - just must make sure I take, ahem, appropriate undergarments so I don't spend all day leaking seawater out of my nether regions . DH did wakeboarding when we were there and loved it. All this talk of holidays and it's raining today - I can't wait !!...

Dinky maybe I'll leave the buggy fit ladies to it ! I don't do well when the sports things get competitive. I remember in my TSB (or TS as it is now !) days playing mixed hockey (I used to play at Uni, School and then at a local club so thought it might be fun) but I've never been that good. No-one would pass the ball to me so I ended up just a spare part on the pitch (those competitive boys that is) and I ended up going early one week .....it was soooo humiliating - I don't think I went back again.

Can't decide what to do this morning as it's chucking it down here. We are all dressed though so I might grab DD's bottle and take her and DS to the local coffee shop for a change of scenery. DS just likes the trip !....We're off to an NCT friends house this afternoon so that we can cause carnage in her living room .

DD slept til 6.30am this morning so we're on a bit of a roll....however DS has decided that anything from 5am onwards is a decent enough hour to wake us all up. Typical isn't it. I have a timer which I can put the light on but I've lost the instructions for the timer and it looks like rocket science to re-programme it. Otherwise it's the bunny clock.

KT- at your MIL. She'll get the hang of it once you "re-inforce" (!) what you want. Keep plugging away at it. I have a "list" which can be consulted (!!!) at any time although to be honest both my Mum and my MIL like to have something to consult (ie feeding/how much etc). If I verbally tell my mum how much feed etc it goes in one ear and out the other and she then phones me for a reminder. To be honest My mum has confessed that she doesn't always do as she's "told" - she usually says she can't remember if I ask her what happened when I get back. I would be upset though if she forgot to give meds though. Yesterday she happily announced she'd found a mini box of formula- she took it out the cupboard and I pointed out it was cow & Gate rather than Aptamil (she was pretty embarassed but hadn't used any yet)....it's not good to chop and change formula. Good job I pointed it out to her....

Right must pack the car for my 2 minute journey to town for a half hour coffee ?!

mumoverseas · 17/04/2009 11:09

what has happened to mn? its gone all weird here, all upside down?

herby we stayed at the Berjaya spa resort which I think is just down the coast a bit from where you stayed. Quite a few friends have stayed at the Datai and say its lovely.
wish I'd remembered the water skiing tip. I hadn't planned on doing it til the very last minute and was wearing an inappropriate bikini (on the basis that no one there knew me) After I'd got up I realised my mistake which was reinforced when I took a rather large tumble after trying to be a bit cocky crossing the wake and nearly cut myself in half.
Your watersports holiday sounds good, where are you going?

dinky, wish I'd read your post about taking spare clothes for me as well as the kids. DS decided to throw up on me on the flight to KL and of course I had no spare clothes. Luckily however I was still wearing my abaya which got most of it.

MrsY · 17/04/2009 12:27

Hey all -

MOS - nice to have you back! Sorry to hear about credit/debit card dramas. It's always my worst nightmare on holiday...

Like the sound of the Pushy Mothers thing, might have to see if there's something like that anywhere near me. Am limited to my wii fit at the moment.

We had a lovely day yesterday - Took M to clinic with my sister and sat and nattered with other mums while Vicky did nappy/feeding duty, and then headed to Bluewater for my mani/pedi at the Molton Browne spa, again, my sister had the baby for the two hours - don't know who enjoyed themselves more - probably my sister!

Then John surprised me by telling me he's bought 4 tickets to see Spandau Ballet at the o2 in October - I'm so excited, he's not so much!

M's been a bit grouchy today though, which is a bummer because the in-laws are coming round tonight and I really wanted to blitz the house and start cooking... hey ho!

Not liking the stories about jabs. She's due hers on Monday, but then we're going to the osteopath so that should help her, I hope. And I'm getting my new tattoo, so it's needle central here! I'm bricking it - my last one hurt! But then I am a big girlie wuss !

herbgarden · 17/04/2009 12:56

Lovely to get some help from your sister and sounds like you had a nice pamper day. Sounds like your DH made the right choice. DH got me tickets for Take That (yeah yeah not so trendy) for July but I can't wait...(he bought me 2 tickets so I can take a mate - he categorically doesn't want to come)

MOS - we're going to Lemnos in Greece. The accommodation isn't that plush but it's great for kids - DS just loved kids club - he found lots of mates to play with and he is happiest in company, they did so much stuff with them like swimming, playing on the beach, painting blah blah and we get to do sailing (you can take your RYA levels), waterski-ing and kayaking but there's also tennis and mountainbiking and stuff. All the watersports are included as is most of the food. I never thought I'd enjoy that sort of holiday as pre DC's we liked to to an independent type of holiday to somewhere with nice food and often quite a way away. Now though, I've travelled a lot of the world and am quite content with as relaxing do nothing type holiday with childcare thrown in that I can get my hands on !! Particularly when you spend a lot of time looking after dc's as it is. I need a change ! DD is just old enough for the nanny facility (for the under 2's they have fully qualified english nannies) there too so they will take her for a few hours a day...

Right, must go and finish my lunch.....
