im gettin odd phone calls no ones there?

bebejones · 07/04/2009 14:26

What do you do if your 8month old laughs when you tell her off?! Whenever I say 'no' to Phoebe (usually if she is pinching my face/neck & more recently biting my fingers) she just smiles & laughs! Is she too young to be told that she is being bad? I read that they cannot do things specifically to press your buttons at this age, but I feel like she clearly knows what she is doing. If you stop her she will laugh then do it again, stop herself before you get the chance & giggle!! I had scratches all over my face from her raking my face with her finger nails the other day, is this normal behaviour for an 8 month old?

sweetkitty · 07/04/2009 16:58

Well I think I win the award for worlds worst parent, Bethany fell off our bed last night she is fine, her new teeth cut her lip and after a quick cuddle and BF was her old self, her Mum and Dad were not. She usually sleeps at my side of the bed, one side is fine as it has the bedside cot rammed up against it, the other side had the double duvet rolled up and 2 pillows and she managed to get over all of that. DP had checked on her about 5 mins before and said she was grizzly but eyes shut then we heard the most sickening thud (there was a duvet on the floor as well so it wasn't a bad fall and the room is carpeted) and crying, you have never seen two people move so quick in all your life.

That will not be happening again but has left us with a dilemma, she will not sleep in her cot although for nap time today she did but she was knackered. I think I will have to put the 4th side of the cot up and make it into a regular cot and then bring her inbetween us when she wakes in the night.

Apart from that all else is well here, been very busy today swapping clothes around rooms and managed to get a bag off to the charity shop and a bag of toys thrown out as well. Really pushed for space here now so have to be ruthless.

bebejones - she has no concept of naughty, I just give a stern NO and take their hands away, if they keep doing it put her on the floor or chair whatever away from you for a few minutes. She will soon learn that hurting people is wrong if she is denied attention. IMO distraction is better at this age.

Momma23 - what do you think? Is she ready? Can she tell you when she is doing a wee or poo and sit on a potty? You could always give it a try, give yourself 5-7 days to see an improvement, if there isn't any then she's not ready and back to nappies, try again in a few months.

Disney - not got much to say really, sounds like your hubby's boss is a right witch. Is there not laws in place about driving hours i.e. you must have breaks every X hours and not drive for more than Y hours in a day? I thought it would be illegal to drive from 4am-8pm your DH will be knackered and that is dangerous to him and other road users.

pigley - sorry to hear you hurt your back, you are doing too much, take it a bit easier today

Isaidno - cannot believe Poppy is 10 months already and well done on the pincer grip, Bethany hasn't quite got it yet, she has a pracice with peas on her highchair yet, I remember DD2 had everyone amazed with her dexerity early on, even now she is very good with pencils/scissors etc, too good as she draws/cuts everything in sight!

We all went to the dentist today, remember a while ago a bit of my tooth dropped off, well that's me just getting an appointment so have to go and have it sorted next month. The waiting room was fun, packed, Bethany whinging and the two older ones fighting. DD1 got told off for thumb sucking and we have to try to get her to stop before her adult teeth come in.

Right must make dinner

sweetkitty · 07/04/2009 16:59

Oh sorry that was a long post

Rumpel · 07/04/2009 17:19

Hi All,

Been busy busy here. Went to baby pics last week to see Monsters vs Aliens - was hilarious and DDs first time at the pics. Think she enjoyed the maletesars more than the pics. Then we wnet a walk around one of the ponds. Stirling Uni (where the pics are) is gorgeous - set in wonderful countryside with large ponds/lakes with ducks/swans/coots and squirrels. DD and Calvin saw their first squirrel/swan and coot.

M2L - I had my Mum with me for a lot of DDs labour and she was fantastic - much better than DH - I don't think I'd have managed if it wasn't for her guiding me through the contractions (I had an epidural as DD was back to back and very long labour). She ran and got DH when she saw DDs head coming.

Re shenanigans in the bedroom dept - we had a spate there of doing'it' quite alot but I am so tired again now that it is usually only about 4 times a month if that. Sleep/bed early with book or sex = the first 2 usually We were actually sharing a bed again after about 3 years but I am having to make up the spare for Dh again as DD is poorly and vomiting/diarrhoea (we always seem to have some bug us lot) and like I said before he really needs his sleep to function.

Stopped sterilizing bottles about 3 weeks ago as my Mum melted my sterilizer so yuse dishwasher or very hot soapy water and dummies go in boiling water.

Calvin still has about 5 7oz bottles of milk a day and breakfast, lunch, dinner with pudding and snacks as well. He loves tangerines - I peel the inner skin off for him.

DH was away all last week and I sat and drank wine and scoffed rubbish = put on about 4lbs! So last night I went out and power walked and ran for half an hour - I am determined to lose 2 stone. Support vibes greatly appreciated

DTDT - how are you all settling in in Bahrain now? Does it feel like home yet and have you made good friends yet?

PIGLEY - be careful with that back girl - squat and lift

MOMMA - DD has been wearing pants for a week or so now - great at peeing in the potty but not so poos. She suffered from constipatuion a long time and gets a bit scared sometimes to poo. Mind you last night I had to throw her new pnats out sue to the diarrhoea all over the kitchen floor/knickers/trousers/me incident the joys. It's really selfish I know (SK BAD MUMMY HERE TOO) but I always think - please God don't let me catch it too! It's so hard looking after them when they are ill if you are too - Jenni keeps reminding herself of this when she feels broody

SK - Bethany's new moniker - bouncing Beth just as well they are made of strong stuff eh?

Must go Calvin is whinging.
xxx

Rumpel · 07/04/2009 17:20

MALETSARS - hmm brings to mind kinky thought so scantily clad men in positions of power LOL.

Maltesars.

bebejones · 07/04/2009 18:22

SK - I didn't think they could understand naughty either but she is so persistant with it. I usually tell her no & move her hands twice then 3rd time she does it I tell her no & put her down. Tried distracting her...didn't work!! It is tricky though as she mostly does this when I am feeding her so I have the 'to feed or not to feed' conflict!

P's dexterity is also really good, she picks crumbs up off her tray & can slide the rings off the spindal of her stacking toy with ease.

Going to visit SIL & baby 2moro. She is really struggling with sleep. He is a month old. He just won't sleep at all at night & screams til 4am most nights. She is FF but on demand , everyone has offered advice but she is so stubborn she thinks we are just getting at her! Really want to help her but just don't know what I can do. It's the same situation we were in & demand feeding really really didn't work for us, produced a screaming baby who would feed ALL night & sleep all day (I was BF at the time) will have to try and help best I can me thinks. Have tried saying 'that didn't work for us' & 'I am no expert but we did this & it worked' but is falling on deaf ears!

cass66 · 07/04/2009 19:45

Ed knows when he is doing something he shouldn't (ie grabbing the computer or remote or my glasses), he just gives me this cheeky knowing grin and keeps grabbing.... it must be something about little boys but he is going to get his own way more than the girls did, I think!

A friend hired a hot tub for a few days and we spent a lovely decadent girls night in the warm bubbly hot tub with too much fizzy, followed by a spot of singstar last night. work with a hangover today was not fun!!

DoThisDoThat · 07/04/2009 19:57

Aw Cass, sounds like you had a great time.

SK, what a fright.

Well, have a chest infection and have been to the clinic twice today for a nebuliser session. Fun. DS1 also sick but no specific infection so we're just managing his high temperature. Bless him, he's such a brave soldier.

Logan is hilarious and keeps trying to "get" me but the nanny keeps pulling him away saying "no Logie Logie (for that is what she calls him), mummy sick, stay away". Poor wee boy. I'm just grateful I've got someone who can take good care of them all while I am useless.

Rumpel, lots of support vibes for weight loss. I am cutting carbs and alcohol (I have to anyway with the antibiotics) for a few days to see how that goes. Running really gets the pounds off.

Rumpel · 07/04/2009 20:21

Ta DTDT - healing vibes sent your way.

CASS - that sounds fab a hot tub - hmmm. Must be gorgeous. Hangover + kids = NIGHTMARE though. How's your belly dancing going? We are on to veil dancing now - although missed last week as DH was away and will miss next week as he has just found out he has to go to an oil rig off North Sea next week - am a bit because of all the helicopter scenarios at the mo' but he has to go. Poor DD still puking - got rehydrate sachets but am thinking poss GP visit tomorrow. How long do you guys usually wait before seeing GP with vomiting? She is fine - bouncing and bossing about but just pukes up everything she tries to eat/drink.

Anyone heard from GILLY? Is she a FBer? She has PND last we heard just wondered how she was doing.

Hope all your littlies sleep well.
x

pigleychez · 07/04/2009 21:03

Hello all,

Disney- DH's boss sounds awful Im sure theres nothing wrong with DH... He just loves you

Momma- Maybe go with it the potty training as she seems Keen. Fingers crossed it goes ok.

Bebe- I too get clawed at and pinched and slapped! Its frustrating but have firm no's and then move her away. I clearly show that its hurting me and she looks at me for a moment before doing it again!!

SK- Bouncing Bethany hey! Im sure she wont hold it against you.

Rumpel- Baby Pics sounds fab. We dont have anything like that here

Cass- mmmmm Hot tub!!! Sounds fab.
We looked at potential house that had a hot tub in the garden included in the sale..Fab.. Untill we found out the house was along side a motorway and trainline... Not quite so relaxing!

Do this- you are ill. Hope you feel better soon. Having a Nanny to take the strain must be fab.

Move day tomorrow!! Manic manic packing here! Just having a sit down and catch up whilst resting my back. Its better today but not 100%.
Boxes absolutely everywhere! Took the bed down earlier so sleeping on the floor tonight. Abigails gone off in the travel cot for the first time so who knows how well she will sleep tonight. Been abit unsettled today what with everything going on- poor thing.

Not sure if ill be on for a few days, depends on how quickly we get the house in order. DH has bought a Pay as you go internet USB thingy so at least we will have net access whilst we get the services all connected.
Anyway feeling guilty sitting here whilst DH is busy packing!

See you in the new house!!

sweetkitty · 07/04/2009 22:03

pigley - hope all goes well for the move and your not away from us for too long, how exciting, you must give us details of Abigails new bedroom too

rumpel - I have never had to take the DDs to the GP for vomiting sorry, I am trying to recall but DD1 has never been to the GP, DD2 has been twice for ezcema and once for constipation and Bethany never, I think you just have to go with your instinct, if YOU feel she needs a doctor she probably does.

You are going to hate me on the weight front but I had to buy new jeans as my others were too big size 8 sorry but had to shout that for all those years of trying to lose some weight and they are not that tight on me either actually nice to have a pair that fit.

DTDT - nice to hear from you, hope you are feeling better soon x

cass - your night sounds lovely

Well my news of tonight is that B is asleep IN HER COT yes we dropped the mattress down so that it is no longer at the same level as my bed but at normal cot level, I fed her, she was almost asleep, put her in and she screamed for 40 mins was so hard, I never left her though, just shhed and rubbed her back. I kept telling myself it's not that I want her sleeping by herself yet but it's for her safety and that's more important. I need to be sure that if she is upstairs asleep she will be safe.

sweetkitty · 08/04/2009 07:55

Woke up this morning sore throat, sore ears, the works have DD1's cold. Pouring with rain but have older two at nursery and need to go pick up some sheets for bunk beds!

Momma23 · 08/04/2009 08:51

SK
DD3 feel of the sofa TWICE, both moments where i was trying to stop DD1 & 2 killing each other.. When it happens now i leave her on the sofa and then think "ok you fell the last time must put you on floor"
DD2 is telling me when she has poo, but feel she is still a little young! Managed to get a pull up on her so she is happy enough to think that is her knickers! and keeps telling everyone about them.
Well done on getting B to sleep in her cot, how sis last night go? IT is so hard to listen to them cry when all they want is you, but as you said safety comes first.
Sorry to hear you have a flu coming on, treat yourself to a coffee and bun while getting the sheets.
You three personal trainers are working, size 8 you go girl

Pigley
Happy move day vibes, mind your back with all them boxes.

Must dash DD3 sick with cold and grumpy as hell! Long night again up and down all night. Going to GP with DD3 and to get pill sorted....

disneystar · 08/04/2009 09:02

still such a long day and he does drive 8-9 hours a day just driving

disneystar · 08/04/2009 09:03

sorry not read posts yet
samuel full of cold hight temp runny nose and he doesnt want to eat/swallow just drink
is this ok do you think hes been like it 2 days now

smudge123 · 08/04/2009 10:24

Hello all, im dreadful at keeping up with all the chat these days!

disney as long as samuel is drinking plenty of fluids he should be ok. Im sure when he feels a little better he will take milk or some bland food to eat. Have you mentioned it to gp?

Things have been really hectic here last few months. I was on pc one night and heard a thud in the bathroom. I thought dh had knocked mirror off wall so i shouted at him to fix it. He didnt reply. (he always shouted back normally) After a few mins i tried to get in the bathroom but couldnt open the door properly as he had collapsed behind it. I had to more or less kick door open which was awful as he got hit with the door too but only way i could get in.
It took a while for him to come round, but he was still pretty out of it. He got taken to hospital bbut i couldnt go with him as Jack was in bed and i have no one up here in norwich i know to watch him. They found that there is a problem with his aortic valve.
I got so scared, i had no clue what was happening and when i phoned his parents they just said oh give us a call sometime tomorrow and let us know whats wrong with him. They didnt give a shit! They didnt even offer to drive up and see him or watch Jack so i could go to hospital. I was so

Anyway, he is back home now.and we are waiting to see what happens next.
I have been having probs with my ovaries again (i have pcos)so have been to see the specialist numerous times.
lately i have found that my leg totally gives way and i cant weight bare at all. Its not like cramp it just goes! and i have had brusing for months on the outside of my ankle bone on same leg. I have not banged it and shoes etc dont rub. I saw gp and got x ray, nothing broken but it is still bruised. It has the doctor baffled! Now im starting to lose sensation in my legs. I can feel them but its like im wearing thick wooley tights and eveything is less sensitive. I got in a seriously hot bath other day and only noticed when i sat down!
Any ideas?? lol (hmm)

sweetkitty · 08/04/2009 14:35

smudge - OMG that sounds awful, your poor DH and poor you. Sorry to hear you are having problems too sounds like you are having a time of it. Don't know what to suggest re your legs I would go back to the GP.

disney - oh right I see what a nightmare, I think it's time he was putting the feelers out for a new job. DOn't know what to suggest re Samuel think you will know best about his condition etc

Momma23 - thanks, I know they all have falls, DD1 fell right down the stairs one day as she had stolen my high heel shoes! She's also fallen off the bed as well. She slept from 9.30pm to about 12.30pm then came in with us. She was up about another 4 times I think but at least it's a start.

Right she's crawled over and I can smell her from here, bum change and then feed then nap I think.

pigleychez · 08/04/2009 21:00

Hi all,

Super quicky...

Move day went well. All smooth and the movers we hired were fab and so quick (We have tons of crap Stuff)
Abigail was an angel all day and so well behaved... such a dream.

Un-knowing dropped my mobile on the street outside the house. DH got a call from my mum saying she had just rang me and a chinese man answered. She spoke to him and said it was mine and we were moving in... he said he knew the house (right in front of him) and he would return it.... anyway 30 mins later on his way back from the shops he did! (Asian guy not chinese!! mother!) I thought it was long gone. Dh offered him some money to say thanks thanks but he declined.... there are some nice people in the world!

Plenty of decorating and odd jobs to do to keep us busy. Im knackered now as been on the go since 6am! Got a guy coming about new carpets at 8.30 tomorrow morning too .

Hope everyones well and will catch up porperly soon

xxxxx

Isaidno · 08/04/2009 21:04

Hope you are happy in your new home pigley xx

Rumpel · 08/04/2009 21:18

Happy New Home PIGLEY plenty of room for more babies LOL.

SMUDGE - sorry to hear life is rough at the mo' for you. Have you been tested for diabetes? It can cause loss of sensation and I'd ask to see a neurologist to check out your nerves. Hope they sort your DH soon too.

SK - did you have tea and bun emoticon at your diminutive size. Mind you I'd look hellish a size 8 - I'd be happy with a toned size 14

JODIE - how is your training going?

After managing a power walk/jog/run Monday night I was up all night with DD last night - she came in with me at 1am and spent all night being sick wee soul. Nowt in her tum so it was bile and foam. Took her to GP this am and she said viral vomiting gave me a syringe and we have been giving her 5ml of juice and rehydrate sachets all day - fight for her to take it though as it tastes horrid. Cats were sick this morning too so all I have done the past 3 days is clean up vomit and poo Still hopefully she'll feel better tomorrow and fingers x we get a decent sleep tonight as I am utterly exhausted. I was actually holding back the tears at the GPs as I was worried about her and so tired I wasn't being rational.

Thankfully Dh took the day off to look after us but he found out he has to go away easter blooming Sunday now this happened last bank holiday too - he ended up having to go away a day early and missed the hol. It's a bit rubbish but his company is good so I can't complain too much.

Well am off to bed now as shattered. Hope you don't mind me facebooking you all regarding my campaign but I need lots of support and seeing as you lot are so good at it . Waiting to hear back from my local MP to see what she is going to do about it.

Nite all sleep tight little ones and give us Mummies a good rest please - Bethany, Louis you listening?xx

TheRedSalamander · 09/04/2009 09:29

Lol Rumpel thanks for the good sleep vibes He might listen one day! (Not last night sadly ). Petition all signed too.

Loving the easter bunny smileys!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, especially you Pigley in your new house! V exciting, hope A is settling into her new room ok.

Disney did you decide to go away in the end?

Re the falling off beds/sofas thing- Poor Louis has had quite a few bumps recently. We've got mainly hard flooring downstairs and now he's pulling himself up to stand/trying to cruise round the furniture/climb on top of washing baskets/open cupbpard doors/pull chairs over/chase the cat/crawl up the stairs (I found him on step three on Monday, needless to say stairgates went on Monday night!) he's come a cropper a few times and has about 5 little bruises on his poor head. Feel awful taking him out in public goodness knows what people think!

Hope Easter is good for us all, I'm trying to lose weight so no choc for me . Need to lose 3 stone and have just about given up all hope of ever being slim (found a pic of me the other day when I was 16, remembered what my cheekbones look like!) so need to make some serious lifestyle changes to shift that much weight. So planning lots of family walks this w/e to assist my efforts!

JODIEwantsanewname · 09/04/2009 10:11

Hi all, long time no posting!

Well I went away to Spain to see my mum for the weekend (without the boys) was wonderful! I did miss them like crazy though, but it was so nice to get away and have some nice meals out and devour a couple of books!!!

Sam is now clapping, and cruising, so lots of bumps and bruises for him too red we have hard wood downstairs too, he keeps falling over, but it doesn't seem to bother him, he just gets right back up again to try again, bless him! I'm desperate for him to be walking now (I know it's still early) but it's so much easier when they walk rather than crawl (although not as easy as staying still! ) Like yesterday, we went to a friends house to play and he was desperate to follow DS1 and his friend around the garden, but he couldn't, cue tantrums!!! I think I'll do a SK and buy him a walker for Easter, I've got some Mothercare vouchers left over, I'm getting DS1 a sandpit for the garden.

Pigley Good luck settling in your new house and hope your back's better.

Rumpel Trainings going well, thanks, although I went out today and was rubbish as I haven't done anything for a week due to the holiday! I put on 3 lbs this week but hopefully it will go again as quickly!

Hope everyone has a nice easter

Maybe an idea to invest in vast quantities of arnica cream/tablets now

Bethany - were you a good girl for your Mammy last night?
