M2L is she in pain at all ?? teeth ? does she usually do this?
whats she normally like at bedtime

sweetkitty · 23/07/2009 21:19

M2L - I give Bethany 10 mins and if she hasn't settled down I take her out her cot and either bring her downstairs or give her a wee feed? I just do whatever makes her happy really I'm a bit of a softie really maybe being on no3 I have realised there is no rod for your own back, they aren't playing you and just want to be near you and whatever gets you through the day is the best plan.

disney - I'm sure Charlie will have a lovely day, where you off on holiday too, I have forgotten hope you have a relaxing time before Samuel's big op

bebe - the only way is up, you have had such a run of bad luck, I hope your DH is looking after you too, is there someone close who can help out as well, I think you must be so rundown poor you, you need to rest up and take care of you to take care of your princess. B is a terror at nappy changes, she hates lying on her back everytime it's a scream and a fight, sometimes she will lie still if I sing or put the TV or give her something to play with if all else fails I pin her down and just do it, DD2 was the same it's a phase it passes.

mama2leah · 23/07/2009 21:24

maybe teeth..im a softie too sk, but my spd and backpain, i dont have strength to keep carrying her.... i feel like a crap mum when im pregnant, like im too exhausted for her.

sweetkitty · 23/07/2009 21:35

Bring her downstairs and let her crawl about for an hour, tire her out then she should go down easier.

Don't worry we all feel like we are letting our children down when we are pregnant especially in late pregnancy when everything gets to you, you aren't a failure just a mum. Let DH take more of the burden.

purplejennyrose · 23/07/2009 22:02

Hi all, hope everyone ok and flu-free!

M2Leah - what SK said above! How old is she - could she in her own little way be worried / scared, especially with the birth approaching, picking up on your anxiety, separation anxiety too??
Could you try sitting in the room, not paying her any attention just being there for reassurance then grad withdrawing - may be less physically exhausting for you.

Libra - my two are def not pristine little girls, real tomboys! Especially Florence - she looks really boyish too, as well as being very gregarious and physical - I tend to dress her in a lot of pink and dresses!!

Disney-I love love Stratford park! We were there yesterday with some friends - had a picnic in the rain by the swings etc, looked at the ducks and squirrels and watched a punch and judy show by the museum.

I thought Florence would be startled at the least by all the screaming and hitting in the show (I don't like P+J shows!) but she thought it was great - clapped and bounced throughout!

SK - Florence too seems to have 'grown up' so much in the last few weeks - jsut developing soo fast, it's wonderful to watch, though a little tinged with sadness as unlike you we've decided we have completed our family and it's weird thinking I'll never go through these days again.

I help at our local b/feeding support group and seeing all the tiny ones there (we had a 10day and a 17 day today) is a mixture of 'aww so so lovely, special newborn times' and 'omg, I am so glad that's over with' !!

Was talking to dd1 about how when she is a 'big lady' she can go to work and have babies and I'll be the grandma and look after them!! She thought that sounded good.

Red salamander if you're around - has sleep got any better? - here's hoping!

Huge post, sorry - don't get on here v much.

purplejennyrose · 23/07/2009 22:03

Cor that really was huge wasn't it!!

disneystar1 · 23/07/2009 22:45

sk im like you i dont do anything for an easy life i persevere with them BUT if iwere you M2L id bring her down too have a crawl tire herself out have a snuggly cuddle whatever it took without the drama iykwim
my way of parenting is acceptance if samuel woke up at 5am then so be it acceptance is my key i guess, then figure it out why and decide the right action for future
thing is whenever i get it sussed or think i do they go change the rules

pjr we love stratford park too went there after christmas once and the boys could not figure out where the heck the squirrels had gone

minipinkscottish · 24/07/2009 07:47

Will catch up later but quick post now...

Abigail is 1 today

We are off to the Sealife centre today down in Brighton. Abigail loved opening her presents and has been spoilt!

Smart trike is a huge hit and shes already been for a spin around the house! Her ragdoll from us hasnt been let go of yet so thats def a hit too!

minipinkscottish · 24/07/2009 09:49

Happy birthday Abigail hope you all have a great day at the sea life centre xx

Thanks disney

Poledra · 24/07/2009 19:21

Mini, you have all my sympathy. Wednesday night, DH went out for a swift pint at 10pm, I went for a shower. Heard this dreadful screaming, rushed out the shower to find DD2 has been violently sick. Even worse, she'd gone to sleep in our bed, so it was all over our mattress. And her crying had woken Orlaith, so she was screaming too. Called DH to come home, he comes rushing back and starts cleaning up the bed while I shower DD2 and try to comfort O at the same time. Then I hear him say 'Quick, get through to the bathroom, Mummy's there.' And through comes DD1, vomiting as she goes . DH ended up with 2 beds and 3 carpets to clean up while I tried to look after the 3 girls. They were each sick 3 more times, but fortunately into the loo or strategically placed buckets. DD2 was fine by the morning, but DD1 has been running a temp and hasn't really got better till this evening. Fingers crossed O has escaped it!

happy birthday Abigail! Hope you had a lovely day.

M2L, you are not a bad mummy, just a tired one! I felt terrible when I couldn't carry DD1 after I had surgery when pg with DD2 but they don't remember. Go easy on yourself there.

Must go and put the tribe to bed. Night all!

JODIEwantsanewname · 24/07/2009 22:52

Evening all, well sam is now properly walking! it's so lovely to watch him toddle around. (that's when ds1 will let him, he always wants to 'help'!

He has also done something really odd tonight, I gave him his bottle (first night on cows milk) and he didn't settle, so I gave him another 6 Oz he still wouldn't settle, so out if despration I gave him one of ds1's old dummies and he loved it, settled straight away I tried and tried and tried when he was small and he's never liked them, tonight he decided he did! Strange boy!

On a sad note, the village where my mum and dad live have suffered horrendous forest fires (which they Are saying is arson) they were evacuated from their house last night and stayed in the bar, they were finally let back into their house at 3am, but they were one of the lucky ones. Some of their friends have lost their houses and businesses you might have seen something about it if you've seen BBC news today.. The old town, which holds so much spanish history was almost destroyed, no one knows how much damage has been done as all the roads have been closed and the army are in helping with the 'effort' and all the water has been switched off to help with the supplies for the fire fighters. (imagine not being able to wash when the temperature is 40degrees plus the air is hot from the fire, making it nearer 50!) google fires in mojacar if you are interested.

Anyway, enough about me, hope abigail and Charlie had fab birthdays and all the sickie babies are feeling much better tonight

So sad I've just heard that 5 fire fighters have lost their lives in the fires by mum and dad.

sweetkitty · 24/07/2009 23:00

Evening all, don't think B will be a big sister just yet, tested Weds and BFN. Nothing much else to report sleeping still fab, she's walking with her walker but prefers crawling for speed.

Jodie - well done Sam on the walking your poor Mum and Dad how scary

Pigley - Happy birthday Abigail hope you all had a wonderful day

Poledra - oh no you have my sympathies I hate the sick, the cleaning it up and the smell fingers crossed it's all over with now

minipink - hope you had a better day today

M2L - as someone else said we all have the guilt but it passes

JODIEwantsanewname · 25/07/2009 07:49

SK for you, but it will happen soon, have you only just started TTC? Just more fun trying for you and DH and well done on B sleeping, she is a little star isn't she!!!

Well Sam slept through last night for the first time in such a long time, well he woke at about 11, I just went and gave him back his dummy and that was him until 6.30!! DS1 hwever woke at 1 and didn't get back to sleep until 2.15!!! I swear it's a conspiracy, I;m sure Sam must have said to Oliver yesterday 'I'm shattered, all this palarvering in the night, it's your turn to keep mum up tonight' I can't beleive how long it's been since neither of them woke up in the night, I;m not joking, it's either one or the other

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 25/07/2009 08:26

Jodie - I know exactly what you mean now that B is sleeping through, Abbie has been getting up with bad dreams, you are right they tag team you. Good night from B last night straight through.

Not too bothered about the TTC malarky although have told DP that if I am not pregnant by September we are having a break for October as there's no way we can deal with another July birthday.

DP's boss phoned yesterday and offered him next week off as holiday as he will have compassionate leave for the first week of his hols. It's good as we had a list of things we were doing on his hols but didn't get to do like theme parks etc just hope we get some nice weather now

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 25/07/2009 10:02

pigley - ignore your mum you know you are a good mum. Your party sounds fabulous, put some profile pics up!

poledra - hope your LOs are feeling better. Do you think it was the swine flu?

SK - sorry to hear about your neg. That's 3 of us trying again from this thread (Pigley, myself and you) any more?

Rumpel - about the job but something will come along. I'm trying to get some work experience at the moment and I feel so silly, 33yr old asking for work experience! The mural sounds lovely, do you paint as a hobby?

bebe - sounds like you are having a horrible time, hope your DH is being nice and supportive.

disney - I am sorry we are not in Oxford but you and Sam will be in my thoughts and will have everything crossed.

mama2leah - I do the same as SK, if A kicks off I get him downstairs as if he properly kicks off it will take even longer to get him back to sleep IYSWIM.

purplejennyrose - seeing all those newborns would actually make me NOT want another one, great that you are lending a helping hand such a familar rant on here that there is not enough breastfeeding support.

mini - hope DS4 is feeling better and you had lots of coffee in the house!

Jode - glad your parents are ok.

Had A weighed and measured during the week, 11.9kg and 81cm tall. He's gonna be a big lad.

sweetkitty · 25/07/2009 10:19

Libra - he certainly is, Bethany is 76cms and 19.5lbs

minipinkscottish · 25/07/2009 16:23

Jodie - so about the situation in Spain... I am so worried because ds1,2 and 3 are going to that area in a week with their dad fingers crossed things improve.

SK about BFN....it will happen...give it time.....and of course lots of SEX

Well surrived yesterday....just...ds4 wasill most of the day and Abbie was sick twice although she didn't seem so ill. ds4 perked up last night and had some food and some fresh air in the garden before bed.....everyone slept all night BUT - this morning ds4 was sick again and remained very listless and with a temp till about 2pm when he suddenly perked up again...don't really know what to make of it???? Weird
Poledra - hope your girls are better now.

Going to have a take out Indian meal tonight[smle] dh is treating me since I have had lack of sleep andill children etc.....funny how men say don't worry honey we'll get take out...never don't worry honey I'll cook But tonight I'm not complaining..just enjoying

minipinkscottish · 25/07/2009 16:26

Oh and Libra....we should have done a 1 year old weight chart for the LO's...that would have been fun.....SK you're good at that stuff Abbie is 78cm and 20lb...can't remember kg

pigleychez · 25/07/2009 22:04

Poledra- Hope the girls are feeling better.

Jodie- Well done Sam with the walking. Hope the fires end soon too for your parents

SK- about the test.... Next time!
What a considerate boss your DP has!

Libra- On the weight note.. Abigail is 19.5 lbs.. note sure on her height, I'll measure her in the morning.

Minipink- Hope the kids are better now and enjoy your takeway!

Abigail loved her trip to the sealife centre yesterday nd had a fab time in Brighton. Today was Abigails party. It was Manic but good fun! Spoilt girl got tons more presents, including a Rockey Donkey, teddys, clothes and musical instruments.
My cake went down well too which is a bonus!
Abigail was shattered at bedtime tonight so dont think we will hear a peep from her tonight! Ive oput some pics on my FB page and some on my profile for those without FB.

sweetkitty · 25/07/2009 22:10

pigley - photos are fab looks like the party was a hit

I am so bored tonight might play a wee bit of bejewelled

bebejones · 26/07/2009 13:57

Pigley - Glad you all had a good time over A's birthday weekend the pictures are lovely. Did your mum come and have a good time?

Poledra - are all your LO's feeling better?

SK - about BFN, but at least you get to keep trying

Jodie - so sad about the fires, I just don't understand how someone could start them deliberately, so sad

Libra - Think a 'weight at 1' table is a great idea! Would be good to see how everyone's LO's have grown! 2 weeks today until P's birthday! This time last year I was convinced she was going to 'show up' at any moment! Sadly she kept me waiting til August!!

We went to a friend's daughters 18th birthday last night. DH was doorman for the night & had got himself a special T-shirt that said 'SECURITY' on the back! P looked very sweet all dressed up, her dress was a tad too long but seeing as she was passed around like a parcel it didn't matter too much! She was very baffled by the loud disco, but loved the lights! Was a shame to have to leave early, but did mean I got the bed to myself as DH got home at 2am and slept on the sofa so he didn't wake me up! Eyes are still very red & sore was really hoping they would have started to improve by now! P has a mountain of Birthday presents stacking up here at the moment, don't know where we are going to put all this new stuff!! She is being very spoilt so we have only got her a couple of keepsakes. I am also going to do her a 1st Birthday scrapbook that she can have when she is older. I like marking special events like that. I am such a horder it helps me keep only important stuff!!! Must go & get properly dressed still in my PJ's!!!!

pigleychez · 26/07/2009 13:58

Hello all.

Having a lazy day here after the busy few days weve had.
DH has woke up with a horrible sore throat and is very croaky. He also has a fat lip after being on the lip at the party yesterday

Went to get Abigails first clarkes shoes today and they didnt have the ones we wanted in stock Disappointed as we were excited about getting them. Have to try again next weekend as DH wants to be there too.

Abigails been having great fun playing with all her new toys! So much so she went head first into her toy box trying to reach something! I was in the kitchen and could hear a kinda "uhh" "uhh" noise. Dh went to check and shouted to me to grab the camera.. very funny, bless her!

Looking forward to another little party tomorrow for her Baby friends. We have 6 coming all under 2.5... should be fun!
