sweetkitty · 18/07/2009 22:05

disney - if you are worried about the sugar in rusks Organix do a sugar free one or you could make your own or even some baby rice?

Rumpel - thank you for your lovely comments, so B will be a suitable wife for C then?

Rumpel · 18/07/2009 22:13

Oh come on SK - would anyone be good enough for my boy LOL ? Wouldn't it be weird if they met up in the future and fell in love?

pigleychez · 18/07/2009 22:16

Evening everyone.

SK- Was thinking of you today. Glad everything went ok.
Cant believe how well B has done with her sleeping! What a little star!

Disney - I would try some cereal/rusk or one of these goodnight milk things tht might be worth a try.

Rumpel- Hope you feel better soon

We went to BIL's today for his birthday BBQ. Thankfully the weather stayed good.
Abigail was star and was very cute playing "Round and round the garden" with her GreatNan. Even cuter, she then started doing it back to her GreatNans hand! Also showing off her walking and chasing BIL's cat around the house!

Didnt get in till late so as Abigail has had a late bedtime.. ie 9.30 hoping that Abigail will sleep in longer in the morning instead of her usual 6am. A sunday lay in would be bliss!

disneystar1 · 19/07/2009 09:06

pigley samuel does the round and round the garden, and he does it back well the hand bit and laughing
also i think he associates it with the begining of the night garden
im so so tired here samuel woke oh approx 25/30 times for milk for a dummy for a cuddle for his teddy,
ok time for me to be harder i think, i feel like hes a newborn again.

the goodnight milk the organix rusks im going to try these things.
but when ive finally had enough at 4am dh brought him in my bed and he slept till 7am so i had 3 hours all night,
im cooking sunday lunch and having an easy day
well my plan that is my 4 boys may have other plans.

MinnieMummy · 19/07/2009 14:37

Hurrah for sleeping through the night SK - makes SUCH a difference to your mood during the day I find (sorry Disney, not trying to rub it in - hope the rusks etc. work).

I had another thought SK - do you have enough girls' names that you like for when you have your fourth DD?!

bebejones · 19/07/2009 20:04

SK - Glad things went ok. Must have been so hard for you all. xxx

Disney - Have you tried Bedtime lotion? Works for Phoebe when she is grumpy and won't sleep I just give her a nice massage with it and she calms down and sleeps.

Well I am finally allowed to leave the house again... and it has rained all day, typical! Took cat to vets and he still has to keep dressing on and stay in cage poor little thing!

P had an incident with the baby walker and stacking cups earlier today which has resulted in many bruises on her face! feel like a bad mummy! She just got a little cocky pushing the walker around and went a over t! She has a very funny new game with the walker, she picks the plastic rattle phone off and holds it to her ear babbles and passes it to DH. He has been doing this with her for a week and last couple of days she has started to do it back, very cute! He picks the phone up and says 'Hello? Oh hello Granny/Nana/Grandad!' (Phoebe shrieks & laughs at this point) 'Do you want to talk to Phoebe? Hang on, she is just here' Then holds out the phone and she grabs it! Its very funny to watch, am trying to get a video for FB but as soon as she realises you are filming her or taking a photo she stops doing whatever it was!! Am yet to capture her walking either!

FFeeders - what are your plans after 12months? P is still on 1st type of formula as HV said she didn't think she needed follow on milk. But I know they can have cows milk instead after 12months. Do they have that warm, surely not?! Nightmare!! Was thinking cows milk in day then bedtime milk at night?! Any ideas?

Hope you all had a good weekend!

JODIEwantsanewname · 19/07/2009 20:05

Hi all,

Well I;m back from my holiday and my, was it wet! Our tent got flooded on Thursday night, so we decided to pack up and come home on Friday (just one day early) otherwise we had a fab time! (pics on FB, if anyone's interested)

SK Wow, sleeping through, well done B! and you and pigley TTC, , actually, I don't know why it's such a I knew it would happen sooner or later!!!!!

Who ever it was that said that this is a dangerous time is so right!!! Sam is just so cheeky and cute at the moment, if we won the lottery I'd have another, but as it is we are skint so a third is out of the question, and I;m with rumpel I'm so tired and crabby alot of the time I don't know how you girls with big families do it! hats off to you all

rumpel fab news about the job! Keep us posted, I would love a 'proper' job, rather than doing scraps here and there to make ends meet, but there isn't anything going at the moment, also I'm starting a Childcare course in September on the idea to become a TA, so fingers crossed

Cass what is it you do for a living, I have GP in my head, is that right?

M2L How are you and bump? you hought of any names yet? When is your due date?

Bebe How are you and P now? (and your cat?)

Disney Glad to 'hear' that your posts are getting more cheerful, you just love it when your family is all around, don't you!!! Glad to hear that your DD is sorting herself out, and how are your DS's settling in in the new house??

Sam now has 2 of his molars (thats 10 in total), (he hasn't his fangs yet though, is that normal? I;m sure Oliver had his fangs first) They gave him so much trouble I postponed his jabs, he was so lifeless and clingy, it was the day before the holiday and I was getting worried (plus I had so much to do and didn't do any of it as I just cuddled him all day ) He's much better now though! His walking hasn't got any better, he can stand up unaided now, but he does 2-3 steps (sometimes up to 7-8 if he's not thinking about it!) and must think it's easier to crawl!! He's talking alot more now, he's becoming a good old communicator, it's so funny, you definatly know what he wants!!!

OP posts:
JODIEwantsanewname · 19/07/2009 20:12

X post Bebe Glad You and P are better, Sam does that with the phone, I say 'who's on the phone Sam?' and he puts his hand to his ear and says 'hiya'

He is also doing 'round the garden' with us too, he sings gaga as he is doing it!! so cute!

bebe I was wondering that about FF too, I think I'm going to try the follow on stuff, Sam only has 1 bottle now anyway. They can have Cows milk now, and you can heat it up for her bed time bottle to make it more comforting of you like. I can't see why not. When Sam woke in the night (and didn't settle) in the tent, I obviously couldn't make up a bottle so I just poured some cows milk in, he drank it cold!

OP posts:
pigleychez · 19/07/2009 20:34

Bebe- Re cows milk.
I think i will start with the cows milk soon. One bottle at a time as my sister did a straight swap and her DD had horrendous nappys till her tummy got used to it.
Abigail has her bottles at room temp anyway. If from fridge is too cold i'll just leave it for a bit to get to room temp.
Im toying with the idea of combining using cows milk with having her daytime milk in a beaker istead of a bottle but not sure if its too much in one go?

Glad you are getting better now

Jodie- Glad you had a good holiday

Visited the NEXT sale this morning and spent more! Even though I spent £150 online with VIP slot on wed DH had Abigail and it was so nice to shop in peace...Apart from the hoards of other shoppers that is!

Just written myself a planner of what I need to do and remember this week as I have soooo much to do in readyness for Abigails birthday and party.

disneystar1 · 19/07/2009 22:08

hi guys about the milk issue,

that follow on milk is nasty tasting stuff, samuel really dislikes it, actually taste it its so bland as well.
weve been using cows milk in cereal since 6mths and the odd cows milk as a drink always in a beaker, its not his fav drink but warm milk with a tiny bit of sugar or hot milk made into hot chocolate he loves
theres lots of vitamins in there f/milk and imo samuel needs plenty of vitamins and minerals right now, and you just cant get this the same with cows milk.
i gave him a yoghurt tonight before bed to see if it helps him hes been very hungry today and wolfed his sunday lunch down mashed into mush as usual he then ate some golden syrup suet pudding and cream, and that is unusual, the only day we have a calorific pudding or i make something similar is a sunday so its a major treat.

well samuel got me up 32 times last night i know this for a fact as i have a counter on my wall and i push the button everytime he gets me up this is a major amount of times i am always tired again just when i think ive sussed his routine he changes it again.

getting an early night here and please guys will that little monkey to sleep sleep just for even 2 hours then i dont mind getting up.

sweetkitty · 20/07/2009 07:42

Morning all Abbie's 5th birthday today, everyone is still asleep so am grabbing 5 mins on here before the mayhem cannot believe she is, 2 mins ago she was Bethany's age.

Sleep is still going well, she is waking but by the time DP (who is in charge of settling her) gets up has a wee she has resettled herself. I don't know what it is but the past week she seems to just have developed so quickly, she's started understanding words she knows her sisters names now, if you ask where is Abbie, she looks for her so cute. And the food thing is so funny, she is such a grubber, she crawls over and steals food out the others hands, stands at the baby gate to the kitchen screaming until she gets something.

I need to start her on cows milk too, she's down to 2-3 BFs a day and I want to drop them soon but will have to wait until she is drinking milk, I always warmed it up in the microwave in their Tommee Tippee beakers, 50sec for one, 1m30s for two just takes the chill off, Abbie was having that twice a day until she was 4.

Disney - I think you are right to give Samuel loads of sweet stuff, OK it's not healthy but right now getting calories into him is more improtant. Does he drink juice or water as there's vitamin drops you can get that you add to their juice?

pigley - try a quarter cows milk to three quarters formula, then half and half then the other way so she gradually gets used to it, I'm going to do this with BM if I can be bothered to pump it.

Bebe - so glad you are on the mend now and non plagued, you should take yourselves off for a little day out to cheer yourselves up.

Jodie - welcome back glad you had a good time despite the rain, cannot believe how many teeth Sam has too, B is the same with the walking, she stands for a minute then thinks about it and crawls.

minniemummy - well for DD4 have already thought about it would be a nightmare trying to chose names, I love Elodie but DP doesn't , love Arianna but too close to Abigail and B's middle name is Anna. Got to be something with 3 syllables to suit her surname. DP is even more keen than ever to have another baby after what happened and in a way his Mum dying will mean that we are in better financial position as well

best be off can hear stirrings from above x

disneystar1 · 20/07/2009 08:24

minipinkscottish · 20/07/2009 08:29

Happy birthday to LO SK - 5 is a special agae My ds3 turned 12 last week....where does the time go?

I almost forgot....it's our anniversary today...DH had to go back to work today and we did our celebrating last week

Disney I know what you mean about money...or lack of it....I am going to have to try and do a few extra days when term starts so that xmas can happen

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 20/07/2009 08:47

Hello all. Just wanted to come and say hello and happy birthday to all our little (or not so little) 1 yr olds!

Pigley - Saw your thread about double buggies and thought you had another bun in the oven. Sorry to hear it didn't work out this month. We had a false positive test and then felt really down when the second one came back negative. DH just sees it as a chance to have even more sex next month so there is an upside!

bebe: we did what sweetkitty suggested, gradually changing from full formula to full milk. There is no need for them to have formula after 12 months. We warm his 6:30pm and 10:30pm feed but not his 7:00am one (but tbh he only has a couple of mouthfuls of this one now anyway.

Jodie - glad you had a nice holiday and you are very brave wanting to have anything to do with teaching. I really think people who teach are fantastic people who must have the patience of saints!

Rumpel - hope you felt ok and it didn't develop into flu (of any kind!)

sweetkitty - I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. B sounds a little character and I thought it was only the boys who got grubby all the little baby girls I know (majority) are always pristine whilst A looks like he has rolled around in Weetabix about 2 minutes after his bath.

poledra - sorry to hear that you are having difficulties within your relationship. Not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but have you thought about relate? You don't have to go as a couple if your DH won't go.

disneystar - is the a child dietician (sp!) at your local hospital? They should be able to give some recommedations on how to get some calories into Sam.

Sorry if I have missed anyone (which I am bound to have!) I have only read July posts t catch up. Hope all is well with everyone.

I wouldn't call life busy here being a SAHM with just one child who is fairly easy going but it is nice, I am slowly getting into the rhythm of being a full time mum and housewife and my high powered days in investment banking (not really, I was in IT) seem very long ago. Hopefully if I pass all my exams will be qualified Personal Trainer in august which I am hoping to fit round DC and DH! A has only 2 teeth but is starting to take his first very wobbly steps. Have uploaded some photos on to profile.

pigleychez · 20/07/2009 14:01

Libra- No bun in the oven for me.
That double buggy thread was mainly for my friend. She is due number 2 in Oct and desperately trying to find a double buggy thats suitable. Plus she only has a tiny car boot which doesnt help. I too was taking note though for when we start TTC again.
Im hoping Abigail wont need the buggy by the time I need to worry about that. She is darting around the house like a looney now.. even running!

Love the photos. He looks like such a cheeky monkey

Minipink- Glad you had a good weekend away. Happy Anniversary

Disney- we are another one with a busy July
My birthday 5th
BIL's birthday 18th
Abigails Birthday 24th
Parents Anniversary- 31st

Not including lots of friends birthdays in between!

Getting organized now... This morning I ordered all the helium balloons for Abigails party, bought a cute Number 1 candle and some plastic bowls for the party food.
Just need to shop for the food now....mixed emotions though as im feeling really sad about her growing up.

bebejones · 20/07/2009 19:19

Very odd day here today! Phoebe has been reasonably happy and 'herself' for the first time in a week! She has actually been fun to be with!! Sounds weird I know! She even ate all her dinner which she hasn't done for ages!

Today I gave her her afternoon FF in a cup instead of a bottle. Went really well, she just can't get the last oz out So think I will make it a bigger amount to compensate. She has 1x5oz feed 1x4oz feed & 1x6oz feed at bedtime. So the 4oz one now will be in a cup, so it's only first and last thing thats he has a bottle which was our aim by the time she reached 1! She has done loads of walking with and without her walker today. (Can tell she is feeling better) she is still very wobbly unaided and gets mega frustrated. She tends to go between pieces of furniture. So from chair to sofa, sofa to TV etc. Our living room is fairly 'compact' so is probably about 5-6 steps max. Anything more and it is quicker to crawl! Still so impressed as she isn't 1 for 3 weeks!

Very self indulgent post, sorry! Will post more after P goes to bed, to catch up properly!

bebejones · 20/07/2009 20:15

Right then, madam is in bed...for now!

SK - how is the sleep going? Fingers crossed she continues on this path. Oh and Happy Birthday to Abbie for today!

Disney & Minipink - this recession is a pain in the butt! Totally with you on the strapped for cash front. Doesn't help that DH and I have been on SSP for months! Fingers crossed he will be back earning properly soon so I can start to work from home!

Pigley - I love balloons!!! (How sad am I?!) It's so exciting when stuff arrives for P's birthday! All the decorations arrived last week, and I don't think DH is going to let me 'play' with the helium as he has hidden it away! Have you gone with a theme of any sorts? I live in anticipation and slight fear re: cake....have stockpiled icing and food colouring! It will go one of 2 ways! I feel tinged with sadness that P is nearly 1 as well. I just can't believe how much she has grown, I know that sounds silly!!

Rumpel - are you feeling better?

pigleychez · 20/07/2009 21:33

Bebe- We have gone with this design for all the decorations.
Flag banners, lanterns, door sign etc and pink tableware and balloons and Some Number 1 Balloons.
I know how you feel about the cake. I too have a cupboard full of icing and flour! I think i have it sussed but still nervous. DH will be going to Sainsburys on the sat morning for fresh bread so can always grab a made cake if it all goes tits up! What kinda cake are you planning?.. Im planing a Number 1 shaped cake.

Eciting isnt it but also sad in a way.

Glad you and P are both feeling better now

Abigail had her first shower tonight...Usually has baths. Not her first wash ever!!
She loved it and kept tryin to catch the water.

pigleychez · 20/07/2009 21:34

didnt add the link!

here

bebejones · 20/07/2009 22:26

Pigley - how funny, I ordered from that website too! Chose this theme, as it has bees on and it is one of P's nicknames! Am planning a Peppa Pig cake, square but with an icing picture on it! Have done a template but am so nervous!! Thankfully Tesco is a 3min walk!
Have got my fingers crossed for you, I don't think I would fair very well with a shaped cake!

disneystar1 · 20/07/2009 22:48

bebe do you live near stratford park perhaps? i often go there with my boys and samuel feeds the ducks

disneystar1 · 20/07/2009 22:49

pigley abigail and my charlie share a birthday i didnt realise last year too exhausted i guess then, hes 8 this year

bebejones · 20/07/2009 23:04

Disney - not sure, local geography is not good!
