Bebe don't worry about having a rant, thats what we are here for! Hope you are feeling better today. (have you decided on a holiday yet?)

M2L Don't know what to suggest, all I know is that I have a cupboard full of cups that don't get used, that we tried and failed, so then had to try another make!!! Glad you had a nice time.

Isaidno Thans for the kind words, I feel abit better about stuff now, I have a couple of job interveiws lined up, and funny you should mention that kind of job as I went to a Body Shop Party last night and was asking the girl about doing those, you never know! I;m going to wait and see how these interveiws go.

SK Go Girl, hows the training going on, Im doing the Couch 2 5k aswell, like Libra, and it's really good. Do you want me to find the link to the pod-casts and website?

Rumpel how are you? hows the potty training going? I think (hopefully) we've got it cracked now, he came home from pre-school in the same clothes he went in! he even went to the toilet to do a poo yesterday morning (and said, 'ooh thats better' afterwards!!! ) How's the weight thing too? I'm down 1 stone and 3.5lbs

at all you mummies that don't want to go back to work! (personally I don't think I could be a SAHM, I wish I could, but my patience wears rather thin )

Red- finger crossed it lasts!

M2L- Glad you had a good holiday... Im the same as jodie and have a couple of different cups in the cupboard that Abigail hasnt taken too.

Bebe- Sorry your hosptial visit was good
Feel free to have a moan.. It must be alot to take it.

Mini- Glad the found you somewhere not too far away.

Jodie- Well done on the weight loss and Well done DS on the potty training. He seems to have picked it up well

Had a shit day yesterday and basically the same again today Guys have been here the past 2 days fitting the new boiler. The house is upside down and we have basically been confined to the lounge. Abigail has a cold so grumpy anyway, her naps are in the travel cot and she keeps getting woken from the banging so even more grumpy. The plumbers keep coming across more problems and things that need fixing. ie Someone has nailed through a pipe in the floor causing a slow leak down through to the kitchen ceiling. He also thinks that there might be a leak in the mains pipe coming from the road which may mean digging up the garden and kitchen floor!! Im so stressed and tired. Abigail didnt sleep well last night due to her cold and the blooming neighbours teens a few doors up having a party and screaming thier heads off in the garden till midnight thats kept waking her. Think I was up to settle her off about 8 times last night
I burst into tears when DH got in last night as I was so stressed and tired

Sorry to moan girlies

bebejones · 07/05/2009 21:04

Pigley - I hate nights/days like that, and being tired makes EVERYTHING seem worse. It is a pain in the butt now but you just need to think that it's a short term thing & when it is all over you & A won't even remember all the disturbance. We had a pipe burst in our hallway 2 weeks after we moved in was just one thing after another trying to fix the problem so I sympathise completely. Took over a year for the insurance company to finish off the job! Awful at the time & I couldn't imagine it with a baby as well. Stick it out it'll be worth it. If there is a leak in the mains pipe isn't that the water companies problem? (I know it's hassle with all the digging but they have to sort it don't they?) The regulators are quite strict with them these days over leaks.

M2L - No idea I'm afraid, P also has about 3 different cups we tried till we found one she liked. Have you tried a sports type bottle (Tommee Tippee do one). They say from a year, but I think they are ok over 6 months.

Jodie - have decided to save for Australia in a couple of years & go to Cornwall next year. With the whole MS thing I feel a bit like I need to procreate while I still have the good years ahead. Still feeling a bit gloomy about it but trying to focus on positive life goals etc. (not going too well TBH!)

P has completely mastered crawling & pulling herself up to stand. She has even been cruising round the sofa today. I am exhauseted, she doesn't sit still at all, you need eyes in the back of your head coz she is like lightning accross the floor. She had the Wii remote off the side earlier nunchuck cord round her neck!!! It has gone up on the highest shelf! Have oredered a new TV stand but they rang today and said it is out of stock so will be another week!! Our living room is covered in quilts & cushions to stop her climbing on everything. DH thinks it would be easier & cheaper just to pad her in a little suit!! Anyway must go, my cheesecake is beckoning!!

sweetkitty · 08/05/2009 09:31

Morning ladies horrible mornign here all rainy, cold and windy am staying in today blitzing the house.

bebe - yes it is fun when they move, I have an open plan large living/dining room and gates at either end, there is "nothing" of value below head height only boxes of baby toys, the joys of chilredn eh

M2L - glad you had a nice time, Bethany is drinking out a straw Tommee Tippee cup and getting on much better with it than a beaker. It's supposed to be from 12 months but DD1 and 2 got on with it fine too. The best thing is it's non spill. Just realised bebe you said the same thing I love the Tommee Tippee straw cups.

Pigley - hope you have a better day today

Jodie - supposed to be out running today but cannot see it really, said to DH he should buy a treadmill

Right best be off am in housework mode today got 2 hours before nursery pick up, poor B she will be neglected

mama2leah · 08/05/2009 10:01

she use to drink from her beaker, now its like she wont take it at all...ahhhh, no drinking water at all...

also wanted to ask u all, how long do ur lo breastfeed for?

Poledra · 08/05/2009 10:35

Morning all, a grey, miseable, rainy one here too. Just grabbing 5 mins before I take DD2 to swimming (no, will not be forgetting this Friday!).

M2L, re the bfeeding thing, it's different for everyone. I intentionally weaned DDs 1 and 2 at about 12 months. They were already on bottle feeds during the day as I was back at work, and had bfeeds morning and night. I moved them onto bottles for the night feed, and dropped the morning feed altogether. However, there are folks on here who bfeed until their babies selfwean - I know of one poster who bfeeds her 3.5yo, and more than one who are tandem feeding a toddler and a newborn.

Minniemummy, you are absolutely right, I think the fact that Orlaith is my last baby is making it so mich harder to think about going back to work. Also, I have much more of a life in our village now, with DD1 at school and DD2 at playschool, I know people to chat to and have coffee with. I'm not as isolated as I was when I had the other 2, so staying at home seems that much more attractive.

Pigley on the major repairs work. It is such a pain trying to get things done while you are living in a muddle. It will all be worth it in the end! Can you take Abigail out for a walk to get some sleep? Then you can stop somewhere for a nice coffee while she snoozes in the pram maybe...

Right, need to go take this rascally girl swimming (she keeps trying to 'help' me type ). Hi to everyone I've missed, hope you're all doing well.

sweetkitty · 08/05/2009 15:56

M2L - do you mean time of BFs or when you stopped BFing, time of BFs oh could be anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes. As for weaning off I plan to get to 12 months then see how I feel, DD1 was 12 months, DD2 15 months. I think you are doing a fab job BFing whilst pregnant, are you thinking about weaning before DB2 is born or are you planning to tandem feed?

Poledra/minniemummy - know how you both feel in a way, I'm still on maternity leave from the first one. I couldn't afford childcare anyway but it must be so hard jiggling childcare/nursery and school pick ups and housework/general things.

I'm feeling pretty miserable today, B had an awful night woke at 12 and wouldn't go back to sleep, I fed her, cuddled her, patted her, but she was flailing about so much I ended up putting her in her cot and she fell asleep in about 10 mins, poor wee thing was shattered, then she woke at 3am and was soaking through so full change later and she has a very sore bum just now as well. I could then feel a migraine starting so got up and had some tablets but I still have a mild headache today plus my periods have returned, first one since October 2007 and they are back with a vengence. The girls and I are watching 101 Dalmatians (again) and eating chocolate.

Poledra · 08/05/2009 16:16

Ohhh, have just seen SK's post - I think I have totally misunderstood M2L's post - sorree!! My excuse is that Orlaith was up for ages last night too. She has a summer cold and was coughing for ages. I kept thinking she was going to be sick, but fortunately that never happened. I am, however, a little sloooooow today.

sweetkitty · 08/05/2009 16:23

Poledra - I am a little slow everyday

Poledra · 08/05/2009 16:31

It's amazing what you can get used to - up till 3 weeks ago, Orlaith had never slept through the night, and I coped with that. However, about 10 nights of sleeping through, and now I can't cope without it.

I've said before, SK, I don't know how you manage with your older two waking so much - my big ones almost always sleep through the night, barring nightmares or illness.

sweetkitty · 08/05/2009 17:30

Poledra - the big two have gotten a bit better recently, last night was a bad one, DD2 got up complaining of a sore tummy then DD1 was up saying she had a bad dream, usually Daddy deals with the big two. Most nights now the big two are sleeping through.

I dream of sleeping for 8 hours straight through, seems a very long way away. Most of the time I am fine with it, can reason that she is a wee baby and I am her source of comfort and who am I to deny her, she's only a baby for a tiny amount of time? Then other times when it's 3am, she's biting you and latching on and off and flailing about you think "wonder if I could go sleep in the car?"

The first night all 3 sleep through I will throw a party

mama2leah · 08/05/2009 22:13

i meant length of feeds...
leah is down to 3...maximum time being 5-6 mins, shortest 2 mins... hv tink i shud introduce formula they tink she is self weaning...i reali wana make it to a yr, and if i cn tandem feed....but i dunno if she wants it, she doesnt reali ask for it, unless she sees me clipin my bra..then its BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB!

is this normal?

sweetkitty · 08/05/2009 22:20

M2L - never underestimate how much milk they can get out in 5 minutes they are experts by now and very good at taking as much milk as they need. Bethany has an early morning feed, toast for breakfast as she isn't keen on cereal, a snack of maybe fruit/toast/sshh a biscuit thing and some water, a BF at about 11.30am, lunch, BF about 3, then dinner then BF at night-time, the daytime BFs are very short, she tends to sit on my lap and latch on and off as if I am a beaker . I am thinking of dropping a daytime feed in the next month or so. DD1 was never a hungry baby and self weaned about 11 1/2-12 months.

Anyway sorry to digress I don't know what to suggest really, I think 3 BFs is enough if she is eating plenty, I don't know about the formula thing it depends how strongly you feel about it, ask on MN BFing topic ofr have a look at kellymom for advice.

Sorry that doesn't help much

ponto · 08/05/2009 22:33

Poledra, I know what you mean about getting used to things - I feel very aggrieved now if I have to get out of bed before 6am, a few weeks ago that seemed an impossible dream! I am now dreaming of ways to get Bryony to sleep until nearer 7, I would feel so much more rested with an extra hour's sleep.

M2L, Bryony feeds for about 15 minutes in the morning lying down in bed with me, around 10 minutes in the afternoon after her nap, then another 5-10 minutes before bed (very occasionally will fall asleep while feeding at this feed). I don't think you should worry about how much she is drinking from a beaker, dd1 hardly drank anything except breast milk before a year (and she was only having 3 feeds a day by this stage). I think as long as you are offering fluids by whatever means, she will get enough - the urge to drink is very strong if you are thirsty, so she's probably just not thirsty.

I have been very excited this week as I think Bryony did some signs meaning milk and food. May have just been an over-keen mummy reaction to random hand waving though .

Pigley, you have my sympathy with the boiler, it's not cheap is it? On the plus side, you will have a nice warm and safe house very soon.

Sk, hope the 101 Dalmations and chocolate cheered you up!

Bebejones, P sounds like Bryony, she's crawling and pulling herself up everywhere. She started up the stairs this afternoon, I was really surprised as I hadn't realised what she was capable of. The stairgate is now firmly shut, which means I have to go and open it for dd2 every few minutes as she seems incapable of staying on one floor of the house if the stairgate is shut!.

JODIEwantsanewname · 08/05/2009 22:37

M2L - I FF, but Sam is now only on 1 x 7oz bottle at bedtime, I just top his dairy up with yogurts, cheese spread on toast, butter in his mash potato etc. He just 'self weaned' himself off all the other bottles.

Poledra I know what you mean with sleep, I'm the same, I can go for a week with them both doing well and then one night sets me all off balance!

I went for a job interveiw today and it looks like I might get the job, she wants to see me for the second stage on Wednesday, but she said I should 'breeze it' and I'm exactly what they are looking for. the only downside is that it's full time, it makes me feel like a cold hearted bitch for wanting to go back full time, but it's weekend work too, (3 weekends in 6) so every other week I get to spend 2 'school days' with my babies, and if it doesn't work then so be it, I've tried to get part time work, but there isn't any around It's working for Scottish and Southern Energy, but for the Marks and Spencers side of thier business selling Gas and Electric in the stores round the East Midlands.

Also my sister arrived this evening, all the way from sunny Australia! I haven't seen her for 2 years so it's so cool to see her again, she's brought her boyfriend with her and he seems lovely, they've gone to bed now, so she gets to meet Sam in the morning!!! (he was in bed when she got here)

JODIEwantsanewname · 08/05/2009 22:41

Oh and Sam has started saying 'Mumma' and 'dadda' this week

Who was it that said there LO said 'flower' as their first word? That reminded me of Bambi!

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 09/05/2009 06:17

hello again,

bebe - did you take a photo of the sleep suit?

ponto - very jealous of your sleeping child and I hope she is now all better from her bug.

sk - the c2k programme was fab, I am quite a zealot about it but then I am back in pre-pregnancy jeans because of it. Good luck with the race for life. How was the safari park?

Minniemummey - it's horrible when EVERYONE in the house is feeling crap and yet you are the one trying to keep it all together still. DH and I didn't go thru a rough patch but a night without electricity made us see we spend too much of our evenings watching TV and mumsnetting rather than talking and now one night a week we turn off the tv and the laptops and just have dinner together, talk and play backgammon. It's lovely.

minipink - your weekend away sounds great - did you come back fully recharged? Glad the new job placement isn't too bad.

pigley - the house sounds quite stressful at the moment, any chance you can flee to your parents for some TLC?

isaidno - Alex likes to be upside down as well, in fact he thinks it's hilarious. Wierd child.

TheRedSalamander - your decorating sounds fun and etsy is a great website! Hope TNCSS works soon.

Jodie - well done on the weight loss! Feels fab doesn't it. Hope you have a lovely time catching up with your sister.

The nappy/singing thing works with Alexander but the song must contain lots of animal noises which he thinks is very funny.

bebejones · 09/05/2009 09:52

Have put a pic of P in sleepsuit on profile & FB. Will catch up later but have a busy day! Hope everyone is ok?!

minipinkscottish · 09/05/2009 10:00

Morning all Raining again!!! But I'm getting my hair done this afternoon and going to a party tonight so looking forward to a few wee drinks and adult company

I have felt better this week after last weekend away and my lovely 10 hour sleep Since then I've been lucky to get 4 hours but it's amazing what a bit of a recharge can do

hope everyone has a good weekend

pigleychez · 10/05/2009 21:13

Hello all,
Quite again this weekend, Guess everyones been out enjoying themselves.

We have been very busy gardening and had friends visiting.
My neighbour seems to enjoy sunbathing in a tiny little thong which isnt a pretty sight!!

The plumbers have been busy since Wed, and are back tomorrow. Abigail has been so much more settled this weekend without them here banging around and her naps have been much longer. All change again tomorrow when they return. Would love to escape to my parents but they arent very close and would drive me insane staying with them for too long

Bebe- Love the babygrows... very unique

Minipink- Hope you enjoyed your night out.

mama2leah · 11/05/2009 16:15

hey
all quite on here
wanted to know have any of your lo's dropped to 1 nap a dy..i think leah has!!!

disneystar1 · 12/05/2009 08:15

hi ladies
sorry for the dissapearance but i had a few issues with some ppl on here and needed a break. hope you understand
i have popped in from time to time but ive pretty much missed most of whats happened.

samuel is days away now from his cat scan, weve had a tour of gt ormond st hospital,

we are meeting a parent and there child who will be 1 day post op, so thats for me really to phsyche myself up.

hes doing great at signing now and we hand touch sign so i cup my hand round his as well.
after his op he wont be able to see for some time (due to removal of his eyes)but it will get better, so touch signing is essential.
he says mama all the time which is just lovely.
still doesnt sit roll crawl walk but lies there quite happily kicking his legs.
weve made him an iggle piggle nursery mobiles everywhere its beautifull.

ive missed you all very much. cant belive our babies will be 1 in 2 mths.
im having quite intensive therapy right now as i cant manage or cope that samuel may die, he has a 25% survivial chance.
weve been refused permission to fly now due to him increased brain pressure so we are going by train to eurodisney in 1 months time just for 3 days.

got to dash here school morning, hope you ladies are well and babies fine.
M2L 26 weeks wow its flying isnt it.
speak soon to you all
Manda x

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 12/05/2009 08:19

disneystar1 just wanted to say I will be thinking of you and Sam and sending lots of good vibes his way. He sounds a little darling and I am sure your strength will help him.
