WWAJC - sending you big hugs. Can understand you being worried about your mum. Here's hoping that the MRI doesn't show anything too serious...

Needcoffee - fingers crossed you are wrong about the exam and you have passed fine! Also incredulous that you can't get childcare funding/. What a pita.

Muppet you are welcome to the sheets. I don't need anything for them - they will just go to the charity shop or freecycle if I don't send them to you. Send me your address and I'll get them in the post. Glad you've had some contact from your friend too... And that Tobias isn't a monster Sorry but I too pmsl at the image of you with your finger in the wall at least it happened when the boys were away!

Floria pmsl at Alex calling pants skiddies! that's hilarious!

Lisa very jealous of your holiday - hope you have a lovely time. Can't believe that sactimonious bitch though!? Who does she think she is? And if they are so responsible why did she ask them to stay in reception then and not say 'darlings any chance you could bring the car round for me so I don't have to carry the bags so far?' wtf!

Hello everyone else! Sorry not time to respond individually but at work again... Will have time after broadband gets connected on 1st June so not too long to wait...

Other exciting news is that I saw Sleepmenot on Sat! Total chance meeting at a shopping centre place near us. We went for a coffee and had a bit of a catch up and are def going to try and see more of each other (not been so easy since she has moved and also gone back to work fulltime). She is very well and R is gorgeous! It was lovely to see her and the boys chasing each other around...

muppetgirl · 27/05/2009 16:23

Hi Ladies

Am sat here fuming (at least stopped crying anyway) as MIL just phoned excitedly and told me that Henry 'has just taken his first steps'

AARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH that bloody woman

  1. I don't know whether to belive her as she's told some whoppers in the past

  2. How DARE she phone me a tell me when it's all I've been wanting for the last few months if it's true why couldn't she have just shut up and let him do it at the weekend for me?????

I am positive that she's done it on purpose and I can just imagine her in months to come 'oh yes I got him walking...' 'he took his first steps at ours...'

Am I being too precious?

Dalrymps · 27/05/2009 20:04

Oh Muppet tbh I wouldn't believe her. Her idea of his 'first steps' and yours may be very different. She probably just pulled him by the hands and let go for a second or something.

You're not being too precious, you've been waiting a while for him to take steps. She will probably not understand what she's said wrong though cause she's obviously too caught up in herself to think about other peoples feelings.

What did she say happened then? Silly woman!

FloriaTosca · 27/05/2009 23:07

OH Muppet!!!!! What a stupid insensitive thing to do/say/actually tell you. I'm sure she is exaggerating.. probably had him strung up on reins...She tried like mad to get him to sit up/crawl when he wasnt ready I seem to remember...but Even if it is true, he wont be running to her for kisses, it will be to you, so let her have her petty triumph, insensitive bat that she must be. hugs

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 28/05/2009 11:21

SleepMeNot - lovely to hear from you. Glad you are ok even if R still refuses to sleep. No advice on shoes as we have the opposite problem and have to go to Clarks for wide fitting shoes.

Dal - glad you had a good weekend.

Muppet - omg can't believe your mil - how could she not realise that would be a terrible thing to tell you after all the time you've waited. You do know that first steps don't count unless you see them though? Anya had about 3 lots of 'first steps' (accidental ones that she didn't realise she'd done, lurches from one stationery object to another, etc) - they were probably something like that in which case you get to decide which were his 'real' first steps (ie the ones that you see ). at the water coming through the wall (although at the picture of you with your finger stuck in it). Lucky it happened without the boys there - glad you got it all sorted (apart from the hole in the wall).

FT/Inzi - impressed with all the gardening - makes me tired just thinking about it!

Anya had a terrible night last night - kept waking up wimpering. I think her back molars are starting to come through so it's probably that. She's started saying "no" again and my parents saw her yesterday and they reckon her speech pattern's completely changed since they last saw her week+half ago, so maybe she's getting ready to start talking at last.

muppetgirl · 28/05/2009 12:13

Thanks all

Dal -MIL said that she held out his drink to him and he took 2 steps forward to get it from her BUT she was alone at the time and I think this is another thing she has done to get attention. Floria you're right she did say a while back 'I'll get him walking' which was really hard to take as it was one of her usual non-direct insinuations about how she would do things better.

I don't whether he did/didn't but the thing with Henry is if he's done something new he does keep doing it as he's really pleased although he doesn't tend to progress quickly on from his new skill iyswim? He learned to stand and kept doing that but didn't do anything new for a few weeks and this has been his pattern so if he does it at the weekend I could say it's true, if he doesn't then I'll ignore it.

Am more cross that she showed (yet again) no sensitivity towards us. Dh phoned to chat last night -just to see how the boys are we do it every morning/night when the boys are there - and she actually said 'I had to tell Muppet as I was so excited' so yes may not have been manipulative but it's not something I would have done.

WWAJC - at Anya wimpering. I hate to see lo's in so much pain from teeth especially when there's not much we can do to help. Great news on the nearly talking -we will all be reminding ourselves how desperate we were for them to talk when they hit about 3 and then they don't shut up wth the constant questions!!

Inzi - your garden sounds great, our dog area is working and it was great when my uni friends came over with their lo's and they were all outside playing with no worry of the dogs. Plus our dog area has the back gate in it so I can pop out with the dogs really easily and hose them down if need be and not have to go through the freshly painted hallway. I wish we'd done it ages ago!

Sleepmenot - so good to see you back xxx Sorry R is still the sleep marauder Just wait 'till she's a teenager (and wanting to sleep all the time) and you can get your revenge then!

Hallway looks fab it's yellow walls with white paintwork and it looks so clean and fresh. Again, I wish we'd done it years ago! (we've been at ours for 3 1/2 years and only painted 1 room. The cheap builders paint had been rubbed shinny and it looked really tatty) the painter is booked up until sept so we'll have to wait 'till then to get the boys rooms done. -has everyone painted their lo's bedrooms? Again we left ours as the paint was new but they really need doing now. We thought light blue for Ollie (the 'Star Wars room'), light green for Henry (he of the 'pirate room' so says Ollie ) and Tobias' room a light yellow.

love to all
xxx

Hi All!
Inzi;with youon the frustration...same thing happened to me on Thurs
I've not been around since because we have been clearing the garden ready for the contractors ...yes the second quote was still steep but acceptable so we may yet have a basic garden for summer!!!
I'm thinking of a bbq in Sept? Who is up for it?
TLES & NC glad you and the children had a good time
Dal; sympathy...it is horrid when it just isnt happening...I went through a 6 month 'barren' patch when trying too I found ovulation sticks and lots of practise was the cure.
oops dh home from walking the dog...need to get breakfast on...back later I hope

Dalrymps · 30/05/2009 22:07

Les - Ooh will check out the pics

Floria - I will say i'm up for the bbq wealth permiting. I'm sure my ironing busniess will take off and we'll be rolling in it by then .

Yeah the ttc is very frustrating, I hate not knowing the whys and whats and just blindly trying and hoping! I used ovulation sticks last month so will carry on with that from now on.

Dalrymps · 30/05/2009 22:46

By the way, I think i've finally decided on my ironing business name.

Crease Busters

Yep, think i'm settled on it! What do ya all think?

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 30/05/2009 23:15

Muppet - we did paint Anya's room (white + green) but it really needed doing, and we've gradually done most of the house now.

LES - glad you had a good holiday.

FT - we are up for a bbq in September (not a difficult decision for us!)

Dal - like the name for the ironing business.

Haven't had any news about my mum yet, still waiting for a scan date. I saw her this week though and she's very relaxed about it - says it's almost certainly a disc or a bit of bone pressing on a nerve, and she's a retired nurse so she's got a better idea than a layman - so I'm very happy about that.

Getting sleepy now, night all.
x

FloriaTosca · 31/05/2009 07:09

Morning all![yawn]
His lordship has started sleeping, sort of, better; he still wakes and makes noise 3 or 4 times a night but only shouts for me (usually) twice and goes back in his cot without a fuss or demanding to sleep with me as soon as he has has a bf so at last I'm getting to sleep more in my own bed rather than the spare one in his room...but every action has an equal reaction and the consequences are that he now wants 'up and at 'em' at 6am rather than the old 7am.yawn.
oh, well, an improvement of sorts.

WWAJC; glad your mum is so relaxed about things and that you are happier now...as a former nurse she probably has a good idea of what is wrong and the treatment available. My Mum is a former nurse too and was very relaxed about needing an operation on her spine at the neck...the rest of us were horrified when they told her that she had spondilosis and they were collapsing causung her a lot of pain and losing sensation in her hand...they removed her discs, took bone marrow from her hip and used it to cement the vertebrae together and wrapped them in a tungsten collar ...and she was up and about within hours of waking and home within 3 days, pain free, with returning sensation in her hand and nothing but very slightly limited mobility of her head and a fine scar at her throat to show for it! I hope your Mums problem is as quickly sorted.

Dal, like the ironing business name I hope it takes off brilliantly and you are 'rolling in it' in no time'..and glad you are up for the trip down here for a bbq...spare rooms and tent space on a first come first served basis. lol.

off to make his lordship his first breakfast, ceral now, then cooked breakfast when daddy wakes at 9.

Hi All

Eva here and I am back after briefly introducing myself last time. Just this house move just took about everything out of me. Everyday I unpacked little at a time because of Aaliyah not just sleeping. We moved in 4th April so now almost 2 months and she is still not in her bed. She sleeps through but in my bed...... She was soo good before sleeping in her own cot in her room since before 12 weeks and now that she is older and with the house move we are struggling and I am so exhausted that I actually gave up and just glad that she is at least sleeping through.

We also had a big fright yesterday.... thought she either might have measles, chicken pox or even worse meningitis. She woke up with spots all over her front and back. Its still there but took her to doc and they said its just a viral infection and on Thursday they said she has tonsilitis. So lovely sunny weekend but DH worked whole weekend and she was sick whole weekend.

I am normally the one giving advice to friends to get their kids to sleep or eat and now I have given up. PLEASE HELP.... I even delayed having the OFSTED Inspector come out as just couldnt childmind now but need to earn some cash. So inspector coming out on Wednesday and need to get all paperwork in place.

So hope everyone had a great weekend in the sun
Floria glad that your lordship is at least sleeping. Must tell me what you did please?

Dal Cool name for ironing business. whereabouts are you as I have 2 baskets of washing waiting to be ironed but as Aaliyah is not sleeping on her own i have neglected everything really.

Muppet your MIL is being insensitive, hope he walked for you this weekend and if not at least when you are alone with him.

To everyone else bear with me as I am back on here and dont wanna lose you guys again.. as last time I wanted to catch up reading previous threads and that is why I didnt post again and then never had a chance to catch up properly so will just go with whats new now and go into history if i dont know whats being discussed.

Hope I am welcomed back again

Hello all - just a quickie from me as I am at work and typically have just been called so I guess patients should take preference to MN (although I think the lady I need to see is very selfish!)

Eva hello again - sorry you have had such a nightmare since moving. We moved at the end of April and aprat from the first week where Adam was waking once at night he (and his big brother) have barely turned a hair so no helpful advice I'm afraid... Does anyone still have the famous sleep doc?

Inzi congrats on the weight loss - I had a patient who lost 11 and a half stone on the same programme in 7 months!!!

LES glad you had fun with NC

Floria we may be up for it in Spet. We have a family party at ours on 5th / 6th so couldn't make that weekend but other than that I think we are fairly free...

Muppet hope Henry walked for you at the weekend!

Anyway I'd better go now. Touch wood we were meant to get internet access at home today but I'll believe it when I see it! If we did then you'll have the pleasure of my company more often!

EvaLongoria · 01/06/2009 19:00

Hi Inzi & Alice

Thanks for welcoming me... regarding her sleeping I know I need to persist but she is so constantly tiring me out during the day that come night time as long as she sleeps I dont care. But I need her to sleep in her bed though. Now and then when she used to not want her bed I would just put her down and go back every few minutes and she would get used to it. But now she is so much older its so much more difficult. I NEED TO PERSIST BUT I NEED THE WILLPOWER

Inzi I feel it with you about weekends. DH is the same. He works every Saturday and every alternate Sunday and has Tuesdays off, and bless him whenever its Tuesday its raining. Its now a constant joke, and this lovely hot weekend he was working again, so hopefully the sun is shining tomorrow for him.

Oh and Well Done & Good luck with losing some pounds

Alice Goodluck with getting internet, I worked for a company for 3 years so no how distressing it can get for customers

PS; What BBQ or get together. Am I invited as well

Hey ladies

Eva - Great to hear from you. Not much help on the sleep front i'm afraid, ds sleeps great, he just doesn't eat! There was a good sleep doc doing the rounds between us though so maybe one of us can email it to you? Hope Aaliyah feels better soon.

Sorry but I don't think I could be further away from you re the ironing, I live in Berwick upon Tweed! Would do it in a flash if we lived closer to one another though

I think inzi's idea of just going in and being there will help. Reassurance may be all she needs in a new place.

Inzi - I need to show my business plan to this guy who's helping me with it then he'll pass me on to business link and i'll apply for funding for help with costs. I'm raring to go but need financial help so have to jump through these hoops first!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I can't believe how long you've not eaten for, I don't know how you've done it. Does it feel strange? Is it hard? Don't think I could do it!

Alicet - Hope you get the internet today, missed you! Lol at your 'selfish' patient

If any of you can give any advice here it would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Hope everyone I haven't mentioned is ok, bck soon x

NeedCoffee · 01/06/2009 22:49

hi all, just posting so i can find you all when i have more time.

had great time at LESs but still trying to catch up on sleep from the 6 hours travelling each way and Shannon refused to have a seat belt on on the coach, needless to say she fell off the seat on the way home and banged her head, unfortunately she deserved it i wasn't a very sympathetic mummy

finally got a new laptop yesterday, the melted one i had been using got a virus band totally crashed, so my new one is now PINK

I need to go to bed now as i am at college tomorrow, get my exam result hopefully, so fingers cross and i will be back on soon to catch up with everyone properly xx

NeedCoffee · 01/06/2009 22:49
