That was supposed to be tumbleweed went a bit wrong then!

FloriaTosca · 12/05/2009 12:57

Dal; love both names but personally think Hey Pressto is the better marketing name, suggesting both service and the speed. Can I suggest googling the name and seeing if anyone had trademarked it first? I only say this because a pal of mine set up a dog walking business, spent a fortune on advertising (Yell/flyers/business cards/headed invoices etc) and then got threatened with being sued by a big company with a similar name ...she was forced change everything. So glad the police have given you peace of mind but terribly, terribly sorry that it has been/is necessary ...

Sorry I haven't been around so much...I've hurt my back again, Dh has trapped a nerve in his neck and dropped a concrete fence post on his toe so we are a pair of demics chasing after an Alex who appears to have developed a sponge for a brain...he is repeating absolutely everything we say so we are really having to watch it (especially when we hurt ourselves)and has discovered the glee of running away...!!!...he has also discovered golf and is whacking every ball in sight with a plastic club.
Potty training is a two steps forward one back affair..we have days when he is perfect all day, signs or says 'toilet' and can hold on long enough to get to one and other days when he wont answer if you ask and wont look at you in case you sign...its a case of "yes" means 'now'..."no" means 'not just yet' and no answer means 'yes but I'm too busy to stop playing', so we also have had days when he can go through 3 or 4 sets of clothes..nights are 50/50, he has gone 7 nights dry but then had 3 wet so I'm still using disposable training pants at night.
I was also holding off posting because we were flying along with the garden remodelling (a massive undertaking) including removing all the shrubs, levelling off and flagging one of the side gardens , moving 3 big sheds there, digging out a concrete fence and then removing several tons of clay (and pig sh*t), digging in 100m of field drains, mixing many tons of grit sand with the remaining clay, topping with many tons of good topsoil and then turfing) and I though if we could get the garden dry and usable enough for summer with everyone talking about a meet up, I would invite you all here for a BBQ (2 spare rooms + lounge to put people up and room for a couple of tents in the garden)...but with the injuries we are sustaining atm it looks like it wont be even near ready for summer....perhaps bonfire night?
..bother ..I've typed for so long he's waking... hi to everyone...

alicet · 12/05/2009 17:50

A quick hello from me from work!

Just time to respond to a couple of you individually but thinking of you all...

Good luck on ironing business those of you setting it up!

Dal sorry to hear your parents have been hassling you but you are doing the right thing. Fingers crossed they at least listen to the police...

Muppet hope you're OK and that T stays put!

Still no broadband for us - boo! We are making the best of it though and actually talking to each other, getting some early nights in and watching lots of crap on our newly acquired sky! It was my birthday last Sat too so dh and I went out for dinner in the evening which was lovely. I have been a bit rundown of late and generally feeling shattered and crap but touch wood feel much much better today so long may it continue!

Have to go do some work now but I'll try nad get back on this evening before I go home unless work is too busy... Thinking of you all anyway as per usual!

PMSL Inzi, bless

Dal-agree with FT about the name, make sure you check it though like she says(dunno what was wrong with my idea though, huh!)
Any news on the demon parents?

FT-so sorry to hear you and dh are incapacitated i hope you both get better asap, bonfire meet up sounds fab.

Alice-Happy Belated Birthdday! Glad you're getting some time to talk to DH, but don't worry, i'm sure you'll have the net back soon Sorry you're feeling rin down, I hope you get better soon, lots of fruit and rest etc etc is what i prescribe for you

Well, i've had a shite day, had a exam at college, we where all revising in the morning, i asked my tutor to help me out, he ignored me, so i got annoyed and he said sarcastically to someone else i was a demanding pupil and wouldn't help me, then on the exam, one of the questions was worded arkwardly, so i asked for help with that and we got really frustrated with each other because he wasn't explaining in a way i understood, and so i didn't bloody understand, so i couldn't do it, didn't finish the exam, totally balled it up and felt like bursting into tears, he's usually an ok teacher, so i don't know if he was having a bad day or if it was me being sensitive, but he's really made me feel shit, so i am in turn, passing it on with how i've been with kids since i got home.
Wil try to be back later, trying to get them to bed.

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/05/2009 19:33

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY ALICE!!!! I hope it was fab....nice that you and Dh are getting to chat even if it is our loss.

Tles; I have posted.

muppetgirl · 13/05/2009 08:00

have posted Tles xxx

NC - so sorry it didn't go great, maybe not as bad as you think??

love to all back later

xxx

muppetgirl · 13/05/2009 08:01

ooo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICE!!!

XXXX

Dalrymps · 13/05/2009 09:36

Happy Belated Birthday Alice!!!!

NC - Sorry you had a crappy day and your tutor was acting weird. Hopefully it didn't go quite as bad as you thought... Hope you're feeling better today x x x

Oh and nothing more form my parents since the police called them, hope it stays that way...

Inzi - and anf at Janes Potty training antics!!! Pmsl

Alicet - Great to hear from you, hope you get your broadband soon. Hope you feel better soon too x

Floria - We've got a tiny front garden and a medium back garden and DH is total bust just trying to dig a few flower beds and weed them! Really no rush with yours, sounds like a massive undertaking. Whenever it's finished we'll be there with bells on i'm sure, even if it's next summer!

Les - Off to read thread x

It's MILs birthday today, she's lovely . I've made her some clotted cream fudge and we got her some Olay face stuff and lovely necklace from m and s and a wedding pic of us (that she requested) and a pic of Dylan on the beach from Dylan

We'll be going t see her after Dylans nap, dh is out digging the garden as we speak (he's on hols this week)

FloriaTosca · 13/05/2009 12:02

Inzi; rofl!!!!!Sorry..but rofl!!!! If it makes you feel any better Alex did the same with some dessicated dog poo on our weekend ramble last week ([scream'keep his hands away from his face'][grab for the babywipes/antibacterial spray][try not to have a fit][boak])at least Janes was her own
Dal; hope your mil has a lovely day wish her happy birthday from us.Tellyou Dh that if he gets bored after finishing your garden he's always welcome here...our main garden is about 60ft long and about 48ft wide at the widest bit(it narrows to about 30ft across the bottom)and until last week it had a fence across the middle that the previous owner put in to keep his 2 pet pigs at the bottom end...when we bought it I was thrilled to finally have a decent sized garden to work in but didnt realise that the ground is the most dreadful heavy blue clay...it is a quagmire most of the time and so claggy you cant dig it without it sticking to your spade and the hole filling with water and in hot weather it bakes as hard as a brick and you can't break it up without a pneumatic drill pick axe!!!! Few plants can survive those sort of conditions...all we are aiming for at the moment is enough drainage and good soil to have one large lawn (grass doesn't need much depth of good soil for roots)....I can't believe how much effort is involved in trying to obtain just that!
Got to go take his lordship to mils...back later...I hope

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 13/05/2009 13:15

Dal - glad the police were firm with your mum and giving you support. Hope you have a nice day with pils.

Muppet - at you driving to buy chocolate. I wouldn't have stopped at 2 bars though, I'd have bought in bulk [shame].

FT - sorry both you and dh are in pain - Alex must be leading you a merry dance. Anya has also discovered running away, usually to hide behind a door. Garden sounds like it's going to be amazing - what a lot of work involved though .

Alice - glad you're ok and that you had a good birthday.

Inzi - pmsl at Jane's 'what's that?' - that's hilarious.

NC - sorry you had a rough exam - hope you de-stressed a bit last night.

Think Anya's just woken up early from nap...

Mine · 13/05/2009 16:16

hello everyone!! Miss me..... !!?

I have missed you guys

There has been so much going on with me in RL that I'm not sure where to start.

In a nut shell things are great. I have been offered 2 jobs, I'm just waiting for the CRB checks to go through and i'll get a start date. I'm really sad that i have to go back to work and leave Eren, but i'm looking forward to a change too.

Eren is fast becoming a little man. He has changed sooo much these last few months that i miss the 'baby' iykwim

He says a few words, more in turkish than in english, but he understands a 1,000,000 words in both languages!! Its funny watching him do something you have asked him to do. He helps me empty the dishwasher and fold clothes out of the washing machine (mostly just plopped on the floor!) He helps me dust and follows me around with a cloth broom when i'm vacuuming. I have him very well trained

Inzi we are definitely going through the terrible 2's phase early, just like you. Its soo very wearing and really trying on my patience but i just try and repeat the mantra.. ITS JUST A PHASE!

DAL - your parents are nuts! You have done the right thing contacting the police. At least it will be on record that you have reported their loony behaviour.

I think you both have a brilliant idea with the ironing business... i hate ironing and will gladly pay anyone to do it for me... except i usually buy stuff that comes out of the washing machine in perfect ironed condition

alicet you are a brave woman for doing 2 house moves in 6 months!! Good to hear its all going smoothly. Your new house looks amazing.

LES - i'm sorry you're a down. I read your thread, i don;t have any wise words for you but i'd just do what YOU feel is right. Instincts are usually right....

FT i can;t believe you and your DH are injured ! Gardening can wait.... if you didn;t hurt yourself, it probably would have rained and delayed your progress anyway

NC - i am very impressed by how much you take on. I think your tutor was really off with dismissing you like that. You are his pupil and if you don;t understand a question, he needs to explain, no matter how many times, he still needs to find a way to explain it correctly to you. You probably did better in the exam than you think. Did you manage to get rid of your Alton Towers tickets...?? I would have had them, but its a bit too far for me to travel.

Muppet - i'm impressed at your restraint with your cravings ! Oh and doing your assignments on time. I don;t know how you and NC do it and juggle children & home. I can just about manage one toddler!

Lots more too tell from me but i'll save it for later when i have more time to chat.

Catch up later lovely ladies x

Mine · 14/05/2009 09:25

Mine - good to hear from you - glad things are going so well. Good luck with the new jobs.

Inzi - how exciting that it's all coming together. Liking the name choice. And the weight loss is amazing - you must feel on top of the world!

Just waiting for parents to pick up Anya for the day then I'm off to work. Am shattered today - couldn't sleep last night for hours - brain too busy. On the other hand I did go to bed straight after eating a huge pile of fish & chips that I'd picked up on the way back from an evening meeting with a client so I was probably busy digesting [shame].

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 14/05/2009 09:43

not [shame] - told you I was tired.

TheLadyEvenstar · 14/05/2009 11:55

Thanks Ladies for the advice, I have spoken to the reporter and have come to ana agreement that they can use my first name and my mums maiden name...
If any of you are in the Manchester area look out for me lol I have to laugh or i would go insane i tell you!

Anyway am going to enjoy a coffee now while Zachary is asleep catch y'all later xxx

Just quickly, Les, glad you've come to an agreement you are happy with. Sorry I never got round to posting on your thread yeasterday. It was all a bit hectic here wrapping presents for MIL etc and we dashed off before I got a chance. Hope you feel better about the whole thing now

Inzi - at your amazinf ironing efforts! I haven't even settled on a name yet! I've been speaking to a organisation called business link about getting a start up grand as we really have no spare cash at the mo to even buy a new iron. Apparently they're good though and can help to write a business plan and help with advertising etc . Great name you've gone for, bet you're gonna do really well, can't wait to hear how it goes. ust get my arse in gear!!!

Just quickly

Inzi-looks great, watch that little monster for wiping whats that poo all over the ironing Speaking of which, why don't you offer a wash and dry service too? too much work for you do you think?
Oh and i've got lots of ironing for you to do, when will you be able to pick up?

LES-Why don't you just give your mums maiden name and ber Miss xxxxx lets face it, your first name isn't a common one... or don't you mind? I hope it will help you put it all to rest sorry i didn't post yesterday too, i have been rushed off my feet the last couple of days, plus i've got cold so feel crap, so taking longer to do anything than usual.

Mine-hello! course we missed you, nope tickets went to waste, shame really but never mind. How clever that Eren does 2 languages, wish i knew another language to teach my kids. Great news about the jobs.

WWAJC-yumm fish and chips hope you get some sleep tonight and not feel so tired tomorrow.

Hiya FT, LLL, Dal, Muppet and everyone else, hope you're all ok. will try and get back later.

NeedCoffee · 15/05/2009 12:06

@ @ @ @ @_

Oh yeah, its the dreaded tumbleweed again.

And don't anyone say they're too busy, i know half of you are on FB!

me and Shannon are ill, we have cold, probably going to turn into cow flu or something, to combat this, I am eating popcorn while Shannon is napping

How is everyone today? x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 15/05/2009 13:22

Inzi - flyer looks really good. Just bear in mind you will should register any business with the HMRC within 3 months of starting - penalties are severe for not doing. If you want any advice on tax/NI etc let me know.

LES - glad you've come to an arrangement, but agree with NC about being Miss XXX.

NC - Anya's had a cold for 2 weeks now. Popcorn sounds like a good antidote for you - hope you feel better.

Client cancelled today so I've been catching up with jobs and phone calls. No news on the job front - I've been putting my cv onto one new website per day but nothing's around.
