ok lets try here ladies!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
muppetgirl · 18/04/2009 23:11

they're trying the divide and conquer route...

I would say you come as a package, dh, Dylan and you.

Dalrymps · 18/04/2009 23:18

I agree, it's their favourite route. They have tried it several times with myself, and both my brothers.

We discussed the fact that they would do this before we got back in touch with them, it's not surprising.

They can't grasp that my family (dh, Dylan and I) are my highest priority relationship. They still think they come in 1st place. They are way down the list now and moving further down the more horrible they are to me. Anyway, I don't mean to keep you, you must be tired. Hope you're not getting kicked too much

Thanks for all your help and advice, not just today but always.

muppetgirl · 18/04/2009 23:22

achy atm have a trace of glucose in sample. am constipated -oh the joys and back has given up thr ghost so referred to mat physio. Am on lactulose and parcetomol and feelin' like an old lady!

Dalrymps · 18/04/2009 23:29

Aww poor achy Muppet. You must remember to rest as much as poss. That's probably not much with Ollie and Henry to watch! Constipation is the worst, I remember the lactulose from after I had Dylan, it does the job. Hope the physio gets your back sorted, must be difficult to cope with having to lift Henry too. Maybe your dh will give you a nice foot rub if you flutter your eye lashes like the boys do

How long you got left now? i'm really excited about seeing his first little pics

FloriaTosca · 19/04/2009 08:15

LLL: lol at that picture...priceless!

Alice: I'm excited for you! (dont envy you all the moving though)

Muppet: sorry to hear you are so achy, I hope the physio can bring some relief. Also sorry not to be any help with revision timetable, I'm afraid I was always a dreadful last minute crammerwwajcs plan looks good to me.

WWAJC; terribly sorry to hear of Rs accident and now his reaction to the painkillers...I hope he has been given a less reactive alternative. Well done Anya for being so good at A&E

Dal; I think your letter is very clear. I hope it hits home and you can get some peace to concentrate on all the wonderful things in your life like A, D and your ils.

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/04/2009 08:22

Hi Ladies

can I have your advice on this please?

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 19/04/2009 08:33

Had to post before I finished to potty Alex...we are doing pretty well 2 days of perfection were followed by yesterday with 2 accidents...(one I'm sure because he lost his temper at being unable to operate the pedal car at mils properly and tried to pick the back end up and push it!)Best bit of all is he now seems to be getting dry overnight .. 4 nights in a row now!!!
Weather is fabulous again today so hopefully will get on with more making over in the garden (we are having to move 3 sheds, remove a concreted-in fence, rotovate and dig in field drains before we can bring in top soil and turf...oh joy!)hopefully without a repeat of Alex, carefully dressed in waterproof apron for wet play yesterday deciding to cool off by climbing INTO his sand and water table ...he couldnt get out by himself and I didnt know he had done it until I heard "Mummy? Down!!!"...if they arent wetting themselves one way it appears they manage to do it another!

alicet · 19/04/2009 08:47

Just had to pop on quickly and say your letter is fab and to the point Dal. Well done - can't have been easy to write x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 19/04/2009 12:33

DH feeling better today - relief .

Dal - - wow that's amazing self-delusion on the part of your parents! Think your letter is very good - clear without being over-emotional. Muppet has very good advice so won't add anything.

Muppet - Anya's perfectly happy in the bath now thanks . It just took loads of patience and huge amounts of praise at small achievements. We rarely get tantrums and most of the time she's lovely but she screams the place down if I turn babyTV off . She's not talking yet but does an impressive array of animal noises (woof, mieow, moo, baa, oink, quack, bzzz). Sympathies with you feeling a bit sore at the moment - as I remember it was hard enough without having two others to manage as well.

FT - wow at Alex's successful potty training (4 nights!). All that early work has certainly paid off. Well done to you both.

Dalrymps · 19/04/2009 21:30

Floria - Wow 4 nights in a row, you're doing really well. You'll have a face like this when he's potty trained and you can say goodbye to nappies!

Thanks for checking out my letter, have sent it this morning to all 3 of their addresses (dad has 2). Probably won't get it till the morning as my dad will check his main work one.

Sounds like you've got a right mission on with the garden. We've been attacking ours today, went to Aldi and got loads of cheap garden stuff to make it look pretty. Am stupidly excited about how it's going to look finished

Alicet - Thanks for reading my letter, it was quite difficult to write in terms of leaving emotion out of it, happy with it though. Pils think it's really good too. We're all expecting a ridiculous response to it though, watch this space!

Hope the packing is going well

WWAJC - Glad your dh is feeling better today

Thanks for reading my letter, yes they are very deluded indeed, a good word to describe them!

at Anya loving baby tv, Dylan always gets upset if I put the 'Roly Mo' show off...

I've just gotten rid of a virus last week, dh has it now. I feel like i'm getting the same virus over again though?! It started with a sore throat and i've got a sore throat again, is that even possible?

Les - Have posted on your thread

Dh and I are just chilling after a lovely sunny day together here

Hi to everyone i've missed, hope you are all enjoying the sun, back soon x

FloriaTosca · 19/04/2009 23:02

Just put the pic of Alexs impromptu bath on my profile (last on list) if anyone wants to see .... nothing like as funny as llls but amused us.

Dal; glad you had a good day today..sorry to say that viruses do seem to be able to do a double whammy when you are stressed or tired but they are not usually quite so bad second time around...I hope you get over it quickly...and I hope that for once your deluded parents finally learn not to respond in a ridiculous way this time.

WWAJC;Alex wouldn't let Dh watch the grand prix qualifying yesterday morning, which serves himself right for getting Alex hooked on a Saturday morning diet of cornflakes and Sponge Bob SquarePants

Dalrymps · 19/04/2009 23:22

Floria - I feel like I have exactly the same virus as I had, sure it'll pass in a few days...

Lol at Alex's 'bath', he looks so sweet in there

Don't know if I said but I added some new pics of Dylan to facebook if anyone fancies a look

muppetgirl · 20/04/2009 08:12

what's baby tv?

we're into Thomas the tank engine at the mo (do doo!!!!!) and have set the little playtable up in the playroom and put the thomas take along set on it to make hen cruise a bit more. So far he's loving it and we're getting a lot of 'wow!'

We've done the separate area for the dogs in the garden but dex (black lab) is very confused. He wants to go out the back door all the time. He'll go out the utility door into their area but doesn't really understand why... Hopefully he'll get it soon.

Sorted the first garage out (hurrah!) so the sorting I'm doing in Ollie's new bedroom (clothes for henry from Ollie and clothes for Tobias from Henry, we have a mountain it seems...) these are lablled in plastic boxes ready to go into the garage for future use/disposal. Once the spare room's clear then it's onto taking the fitted wardrobes out ready for it to be painted so Ollie can move in.

Anyone got a hugabub they don't use and want to sell? I'm going to get another one -loved mine but lost it on a trip out to warwick castle. Was in the bottom of the pram and then it wasn't iyswim.

Midwife at 10.30 -oh joy. Still have the pains though she'll not be bothered but at least have a sample she can test as I had a trace of glucose in my sample when I went to the drs last week so I'd like it checked again. -the dr didn't write anything on my notes -can the midwife update? There's not record of anything of the consultation I had last week.

Then park this afternoon.

Tles, will look at your thread today x

Dal - thinking of you xxx

WWAJC - glad dh is back on the mend

Floria - fab news on pott training, ALex is a little star x

LisaLessLumpy · 20/04/2009 10:53

Blimey muppet, that's a lot of sorting out! You have been busy. Glad Henry seems to be cruising a bit now, hopefully he will be walking before you pop Tobias out and hope Dex gets used to his new run soon

Les - You seem to have your problem sorted on the other thread, I have nothing to add really bujt I did read it

Dal - I hope you don't get too much abuse from your letter, I thought it was very well written and I hope they now leave you alone.

Floria - I can't believe Alex climbed into that, we have the same table Also wow on the potty training and dry nights, I'm going to leave doing Ben till at least Xmas. I didn't do Sam till he was 2 and a half, but he had it cracked day and night within the week, I'm hoping Ben will be as easy

Ben has been unwell for just over a week now, runny nappies, a cold and generally being whiny and annoying, he seems a bit better today thankfully, as I was ready to throttle him last week

He is not saying any really clear words yet, but the ones he is saying are ones you wouldn't expect till after the usual bye bye, mummy and daddy ones. I was reading him his farm book yesterday, the only noises he did were 'pig' and 'baa' but he did repeat me when I said chicken! I was amazed He also says teeth, cheese, chair, and I could swear he said to me a couple of days ago 'I want more'! He also loves fireman Sam and shouts 'ire, ire' whenever he sees a picture of him

Well DH has finished their fort, a grand total of five full days over the last two weekends and lots of blisters and a sore back later, but it is finished and it is fabulous. He is so clever I will post some pictures later.

It is a glorious day here, so we are off to my MiL's for lunch and then a nice long walk Have a great day everyone xxx

Dalrymps · 20/04/2009 11:05

Muppet - Baby tv is just another sky channel Dylan watches it occasionally...

Dylan loves Thomas too, I record it from sky and he sometimes watches it before his breakfast. He says 'too tooo' whenever he sees a pic of Thomas anywhere!

Hope Dexter gets over his garden confusion soon

Sounds like you're doing really well with all the sorting. We're on a mission to get all the things we never finished in the house before Dylan came along done. We've made an official list and are working through it in bite size chunks.

I'd love to be able to help you out and sell you my hugabub but i'm saving it for the next one, if we ever concieve it that is! Have you thought of posting in the 'wanted' secion to see if anyone has one? It's sad you lost yours , what colour was it? Mine's black...

Hope your app with the midiwfe has gone ok and that they're keeping an eye on the glucose. I'm sure they can update your notes as far as I remember.

It's a lovely day here, Dylan is having his nap at the moment but I might walk down to our local homebase this afternoon to look at lettuce seeds, exciting!

Hope all you lovely ladies are having a nice sunny day!

muppetgirl · 20/04/2009 12:33

The midwife was fine today -like a different woman! No glucose so that's great but she did say to phone the delivery suite straight away if I get another dose of period type pains with regular tightenings (did I mention I did last sat for 1 12/2 hrs then again on sun?) very like the onset of early labour. Tobias' head is down as it has been everytime I've seen the midwife but maybe that's just his natural state

Am so chuffed with the garden, Dexter still standing out in confusion (very funny but shouldn't laugh ) Ollie is loving having some outside space. Going to raid the children's money boxes (we put left over food money/spare change in it so it does mount up. Ollie had £80 odd last time and we do Henry's now..) going to get Henry a low sand table and Ollie a tramploline if we can get one that is big enough for 2 children but not so enormous it won't fit in our tiny garden! Dh dug over our little bit of triangular area that we can grass over so it's all go here. I am going to try really hard this year not to kill the plants and keep it all going.

Not going to potty train Henry till next summer unless he shows signs earlier. As he's not walking he can't get to a potty and I don't want him distracted away from the walking!!! Ollie was about 2 1/2 and got the wees in a week (poos took aggggggeeeeeesssssss) and Henry doesn't start nursery till he's nearly 4 so that kind of makes up his development delays as such iyswim. He's a different boy to Ollie and I need to keep that in mind.

Dal, we get the do doo!!! everytime we see ttte on a shirt, book tv etc. It's so lovely to see him get excited. Due to Ollie's naughtiness we don't have the telly on as much so he doesn't know Bob/peppa pig etc etc so I'm going to tape the ones we have the toys of so he'll know who they are. I don't think he should miss out because his brother can't stop the attitude when he watches telly

I am also loving Henry's enthusiasm for books (just like Ollie) he gets a books, shuffles over and then sits on your lap (if you;re sitting) so you can read it. Everything is 'wow' and the animal noises aren't to bad now. He's started to sign more and signs 'plane' (with appropraite sound effect ) 'more' which he has also atattached to 'I want that' with pointing. 'drink' 'in your mouth' we do a hand going to mouth and he understand this it to put in his mouth and we do the reverse for out your mouth. Works great for little bits of lego and those small magnetic ball bearings it's also good as we can get him to do something without actually talking so we look marvelous
Going to do 'biscuit' 'sleep' and starting to do 'thank you' too.

need to wake him to feed him so I'll catch you all later
xx

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 20/04/2009 17:37

FT - aww, Alex looks really cute in the water.

Muppet - BabyTV is a subscription channel (yes I actually pay specially for my daughter's brain to waste away ) on cable/Sky. It's 24/7 and no adverts and Anya would happily spend the entire day glued to it given half the chance. Didn't realise you'd had pains - glad midwife was reassuring.

LLL - glad Ben is better now. Can't wait to see the photos of the fort.

I've been looking for some organised playgroup to take Anya to on Mondays with other toddlers of her age. Tried baby signing this morning - she was the oldest there by miles so it wasn't really what I wanted but she hated it anyway - she's terrified of Dexter (the puppet they demonstrate the signs with). All the other babies were giggling and waving their arms when Dexter said hello - Anya burst out crying and simultaneously tried to climb on my knee and hide behind me . So we're trying Jo Jingles instead next week.

Stefka · 20/04/2009 21:25

Am all behind again - argh!!!

Great letter Dalry - really clear. I hope that they can actually hear what you have to say although from your previous experience it seems unlikely.

Dareh has a molar tooth coming through and it is taking ages so am getting very little sleep. I need to catch up with you all soon - it's amazing how fast you fall behind here if you miss a day or so!

Hope everyone is well.

strawberrylace · 20/04/2009 22:07

Hello everyone!
I am behind too! Hope you are all ok.

Have had a few days off work, which is nice. Have been told I was successful in getting the job I applied for in our new structure, so I'm very pleased about that. Still not looking forward to going back this week though!

Sounds like lots of people are spring cleaning - I am just trying to sort out the mess here, as we have our planning permission through to build our extension at the back to give us a new kitchen diner. So I have to try and freecycle/charity shop some of our old stuff, so there's less to pack up for moving around. I love freecycle, but I always worry about how to pick people to give stuff to! Tomorrow DS is going to the childminders for a while, so that i can hopefully get on with some more tidying up. Otherwise, he makes a mess as quickly as I can sort something out....

FloriaTosca · 20/04/2009 23:31

Strawberry! Fab news on the job. Congratulations! And how exciting to be preparing for your new extention.

Stefka;sympathy on the teething, hope the nasty blighter comes through soon and you can catch up on sleep

WWAJC; how sad that Anya doesnt like Dexter. Alex adores him, but he has been going there since he was 4 months old so I suppose he is like family now i hope she likes jo jingles..we are on a waiting list for that up here it is so over subscribed.

LLL. Alex is totally fearless about climbing .. last week I needed to write on my white board over my piano and had to stand on the stool to reach...and suddenly Alex was there beside me, stood on the piano keyboard lid!!! little monkey had climbed onto a big box next to the piano and hauled himself up at the speed of light!! Fortunately, unlike your little mountaineer, he hasnt cottoned on to moving things to reach...so the box is now out of the music room.

Muppet; I forgot to say how shocked I was at the incident at the pool ...I mentioned it it at the play date we were at this morning and everyone was horrified. I hope Ollie wasnt too traumatised. I didnt know you had been getting pains this weekend but am glad the Mw was concerned and supportive ...with all the nesting sorting that you seem to be doing, perhaps Tobias is going to arrive a little earlier than expected? Oh and I hope poor old Dexter gets used to the new door/garden arrangement soon.

Can't you tell that Dh is away ...I'm never up this late when he is home because he always reminds me how often Alex is likely to wake... right I'm off to bed.Good nights to all.

muppetgirl · 21/04/2009 19:10

Hi all!

Strawberry - well done on the new job xxx

FLoria - dex still hasn't got the idea of the new area. In our house you really can't teach an old dog new tricks it seems
Alex is so like Ollie in the climbing dept, Henry is the total opposite. He tried the stairs yesterday but fell down the 2 he got up so a stairgate it is for us at the weekend. He looks like he's got a little black eye but does seem okay.

We joined the librabry today and it was so lovely to see Ollie;s reaction 'wow!' at all the books. (I asked him if he knew what a library was and he said 'yes, it is a place with lots of books and you HAVE TO BE QUIET!! -can you tell what's been said at school? ) He was so desperate to go and choose some. He chose 5 storybooks and 1 information book which is about king arthur (his passion at the mo as we were supposed to go to tintagel in cornwall had the plans worked out) Henry loved pulling the books off the shelves and we chose 3 pitcure books for him. I love it that he brings you a book, turns round and sits on your lap ready for a story. He signed 'car' today (arms slightly flayling but you get the drift) and I forgot to mention he does a mean, very theatrical 'all gone'

I had a meeting with the deputy manager of the gym today about the incident with ollie. He is making changes to the ratios of swimming groups and also informing the rest of the staff that the ratios need to be adheared to even if staffing is an issue. He accepted total responsibility (which is refreshing) so hopefully things will change but Ollie won't do the swimming part of it again.

Hi stefka -hope all is well x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 22/04/2009 12:35

Muppet - lol at Henry's 'car' sign - Anya does the same thing with arms flapping wildly - she did it the other day when she saw a picture of a tractor and it took me ages to work out what she was doing. Glad you got some reassurance at the gym that they're going to improve things - at least they didn't try and duck responsibility.

Strawberry - congrats at the new job. Hope you manage to sort some of your stuff out for the extension. We've put our extension plans on hold given that I'm not confident about my job situation. Instead we're going to redo our bedroom with all nice new Ikea wardrobes and fresh paint instead of the orange walls and the badly fitted furniture that's been there since we moved. Just waiting for bit of money to come through from after mil died.

Lots of last-minute revising today for exam tomorrow. Then off to see paediatric consultant for check-up this afternoon.

alicet · 22/04/2009 21:03

Hello ladies - I'll be brief as shattered after a really long day of packing while mum looked after the boys. Oh and i want to watch the apprentice!

Shite night last night too - Adam was awake for about an hour and a half from 2am and then Sam woke at 5 which is really unusual. I didn't manage to get to sleep inbetween either as I had such a busy head!

Muppet I wish you had asked about hugabubs a week ago - I have JUST on Sunday sold it on ebay and posted it out today! Can't believe all your nesting

Strawberry congrats on the job!

Off now to watch the apprentice

alicet · 22/04/2009 21:03

Oh Dal anything from your parents? You're conspicuous in your absence lovely...

Dalrymps · 22/04/2009 22:12

Hey alicet - Nothing to report on the parent front. Not sure if that's good or bad really, not like them to respect my wishes and do as I ask without a fight. We're wondering if they're waiting for the weekend to turn up again, I hope they do cause we're off to Peterborough for my nieces 1st birthday party so we won't be here!

Hope you catch up on some sleep tonight.

Muppet - at you having pains, hope they've died down for now. When are you due again?

Glad the meeting at the gym went ok and they're going to do something about it.

WWAJC - Good luck for the exam. How was Anyas check up?

Dylan had his check up with the paediatrician yesterday, usually see's him every 2-3 months. He is still following the bottom line on the chart but paed is happy with this as that's what he's been doing forever! He's now 8.6 kg, bless, he's small but perfectly formed . Paed was so happy with his progress that he doesn't want to see him till he's 2 now

Floria - at Alex's climbing! Dylan is slowly getting more and more daring, he keeps climbing up on the sofa near the window and standing up eek.

Strawberry - Hi! Congrats on the job . Exciting about your extension, I really want one!

Stefka - Great to hear from you. Hope Dareh's tooth comes through soon. Dylan still only has 4 teeth, I can see lots of bumps next to them at the front and am willing the rest of the teeth through!

Been to th egarden centre today, got a mini greenhouse and some pots to start my seeds in. Going to try my hand at growing veggies, never done it before but love the idea of it. Have planted some lettuce and have got some tomato, carrot, sweetcorn, strawberry, and different lettuce seeds woo hoo .

Anyone here grow veggies? I'm a bit confused by some of the instructions on the packets. If anyone does, give me a shout and i'll see if you can help me

Just off to watch 'embarassing bodies' with dh, don't know why, it usually makes me feel nauseous!

Hi to everyone i've missed, back soon.
