Urrgh- it is so depressing- repairing something, at great cost usually, only for it to go again Think mine only cost about £200 anyway so infuriating for you, expecially with them being ill.
Fingers crossed one comes up soon.
Do they have washers at DH's work? could he sneak some in?

mustrunmore · 17/07/2009 10:07

Lol, I'm sure the wardrobe girls would do his washing yes, but I cant see him lugging it on the bus 1.5hrs each way . Laundrette not far, but just so tedious, a rip off, and not much fun for the kids!

EachPeachPearMum · 17/07/2009 20:38

So... GP diagnosed DH with SF via telephone
Am worried, as he was passing blood earlier this week, so had blood test. He was in a lot of pain last night (different medical condition) and I thought maybe his temp (38.8) was linked to a kidney infection... but seems not. Bugger.

Jas · 17/07/2009 21:25

Has he had results of blood tests?

There is alot of it about here (children at nursery and infant school, plus neighbours)

I have been unwell all week, but no temp, so not sf.

Phoenix - Pics of ds2 are lovely. He does look like ds1, though. Make sure you label all photos or in a few years you won't be able to tell who they are of!

EachPeachPearMum · 17/07/2009 21:31

results not back yet...
hope you are feeling better soon though- there is so much stuff going around ... it never ends.

Frizbe · 17/07/2009 22:13

Jas the no temp thing is a huge myth, loads of people testing positive for SF without having a tempt, someone posted a great online link to the NY Times and the CDC in USA about this the other day, seems only Britain is bothering about temps, everyone else knows it can present without too
I'm guessing UK concentrating on people with temp, as they have it worse and can develop into other things like Pneumonia or Meningitis

EPPM I hope your dh is ok, if its any help dd1 passed some blood a few times last week, before she spent 3 days pooing, I fed her yakult and put it down to a tummy bug, but now dh and I have this and I found out the trots is a symptom I'm not sure?

MRM major bummer about the washing machine, if it helps our freezer died last night and it was full of food, unsure whether to claim on insurance or not, anyone know how much they'll put it up/is it worth it?
Hope the kids stop puking soon for you

CSWS, how are yours today, sick free yet?

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/07/2009 22:15

Jas - sf can present without a temperature.

Do you think he does have sf EPPM? I've heard that they are diagnosing just about everyone who phones NHS direct with sf at the moment, even though it isn't likely to be true in a lot of cases.

No more sickness here today - just one hideous nappy this morning.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/07/2009 22:17

x post friz. What's the excess on your insurance, as that might make a diff? Ours is £250, so we didn't claim when we lost contents of ours.

EachPeachPearMum · 17/07/2009 22:41

I don't know tbh- my first thought was some sort of systemic infection... last night though... he was in a very bad way. He was shaking uncontrollably with the pain

He has a liver function issue called Gilbert's syndrome (Dhjeelbair's ie it;s frenchified)- gives him lots of pain akin to a stomach ulcer sometimes (not constantly). Initial urine test showed high bilirubin levels, so gp picked this up, but that is part of his underlying condition, so (after all the ramble) who knows?
He has high temp, v achy, headache. A little nauseous but no vom or runs- however he rarely ever has issues in those departments- has a cast-iron stomach!

Friz- that is really crap about the freezer. My oven went this week.... this is the appliance death thread!

Frizbe · 17/07/2009 22:41

Good point CSWS I'll go and check!

Frizbe · 17/07/2009 22:43

EPPM for dh that sounds horrible, sending him a virtual hug {{{hugs}}} not nice, I hope you can get some good medical treatment sorted out soon/painkillers
Sorry to hear about oven as well, this really is not a good week for all of our white goods!

EachPeachPearMum · 17/07/2009 22:58

Well... I wish I could say my oven was white...

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/07/2009 23:02

I didn't even mention that dh broke our tumble drier yesterday! Got it fixed today though thankfully.

Not sure i'm even sure what symptoms of sf are supposed to be .

EachPeachPearMum · 17/07/2009 23:16

temperature
headache
achyness (um is that a word?)
vom
runs
erm... flu-like symptoms

Frizbe · 17/07/2009 23:17

CSWS you can't miss them, theres even a topic about it now!

Have kitten attempting to chew me am off to look up if he has ear mites? as have found a few black things in his ears

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/07/2009 06:39

We don't really do flu here, so am clueless. Didn't realise that vom and the runs were symptoms of flu. I did read the leaflet that came through the door about it, but have forgotten details.

Jas · 18/07/2009 13:33

Well I've had 1/2 those symptoms for over a week now, and gp did see me last week and said throat infection (before aches gt so bad)

I've probably infected the whole town by now if I do have it

DH sounds really poorly EPPM. I hope he is better soon, whatever it is.

No major appliance deaths here Fridge is on its way out (has been for about two years now) but is still hanging n so not contemplating getting new.

Holidays started yesterday. The dds are likely to kill each other. DD1 is bruised where dp had to pull her off dd2 as she was kicking her so much last night.
An argument over the ownership of a pen ffs! So much for letting them resolve things themselves.

Frizbe · 18/07/2009 13:46

Oh the joys of holidays eh Jas!

CSWS I try not to 'do' flu here either, but I started reading up on it when Meri's ds went down with it, then of course me and now dh who knows if girls had mild version of it last week?

EPPM hope your dh is ok, has this totally buggered up your holiday plans?

MRM how's the sickness?

I've been round to Meri's for a coffee this am, so the kids could play for a bit too, but feel totally wiped out now, bah, I wanna feel better! dh has unwisely gone into work, as we have a big event on and has taken ss with him, he was going hot n cold this am, so I think this is highly irresponsible of him, but he won't be told my mum is back from Christchurch today, so am hoping she may pop round and take the kids out tomorrow?

mustrunmore · 19/07/2009 08:41

Sickness all over, thankfully!

Frizbe, are you on body combat 40 now?

no idea what to do today. Nearly sold these two yesterday, driving me insane! Ideas please? On actvites, not sale!

thell · 19/07/2009 11:07

Cripes!

Would like to send vibes of solidarity to you all with horrid lurgies. x
Have to run off and get dressed, as friends are coming round! What a slut and slattern I have become...

EachPeachPearMum · 19/07/2009 11:18

Frizbe holiday plans? we haven't got any... don't think... only planning to camp the odd weekend really...

mustrunmore · 19/07/2009 11:42

I'm gonne have to descend on one of you lot in Aug at this rate.... am increasingly worried about entertaining these two all summer!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/07/2009 15:04

You're welcome to descend on us at some point mrm. Really should try and work out when we're going to up to my parents, but was hoping to find out where dh would be working when in August first, but since we don't even know when he's starting yet, that might not happen .

mustrunmore · 19/07/2009 16:26

Can I bring my laundry?

Frizbe · 19/07/2009 20:30

at you with your washing MRM!
You're welcome up here too of course!

Sorry EPPM got you confused with someone else I think

Well dh is shivvering under the duvet upstairs again he's begging to put the heating on, I've told him he's bonkersly ill and just to put on more layers and sweat it out. I've taken ss home and legged it into M&S on the mway for food for tea and bread for tomorrow, I'm hoping I'm not still contagious? unsure, my throat is still odd,and I get tired quickly, but no other symptoms bar that now, but it'll be a week tomorrow, so surely not contagious now? anyone know?
