CantSleepWontSleep · 28/04/2009 21:14

Did you do the sunroof with L Phoenix? I can't remember now. Fingers crossed that GTT was fine.

I had ds weighed today too EPPM (first time since beg of Feb), so it must have been the day for it! He is 21 lbs 9 oz, a little above 91st centile. No wonder he barely fits most of his 6-9 month stuff (he's only 6.5months)!

Eek for all the violent little boys . Is this what I should expect my darling sweet baby boy to turn out like?

Phoenix · 28/04/2009 21:32

Yes emergency c-section with ds.

Jas · 28/04/2009 22:06

Hello and welcome back Chloe

I did a whole speech apologising in advance for ds' aggressive behavior when he started nursery last week......and so far he has been a little angel (there, at least. At home he is still battering the dds)

melancholymum · 28/04/2009 22:11

If he is anything like mine csws then you def have it to look forward to! Ds can be a horrid child at times, I sometimes doubt he is even mine

Sorry to hear your LO is not too well EPPM.

Phoenix · 29/04/2009 10:50

Shit, shit, shit. It turns out the hospital did ring last night but didn't leave a message, my results are impaired which means higher than they should be so i have to go to the diabetic centre at 12.30 tomorrow . What do they do csws? What can't i eat?

Ds has a cold sore It's not bothering him though its bothering me because i read something about them been fatal for new babies but i've been googling and its ok.

EachPeachPearMum · 29/04/2009 11:57

Oh phoenix- thats crappy
Hope all goes well tomorrow. Do you get cold sores too? Baby may well not get it- just be careful with ds1 () kissing him when he has a coldsore out.

melancholymum · 29/04/2009 13:30

Oh no phoenix - be sure to keep us updated with what the doc said.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2009 21:32

They'll prob want you to monitor your blood sugar for a few days Phoenix, most likely an hour or two after meals, so that they can assess how severe it is, and will then decide whether you need to inject insulin or not. It may also mean induction or a c-sec before the full 40 weeks is up. Make sure you find out what your blood result was. You 'fail' the GTT normally if it was higher than 7.8. Mine was 7.9 when I first tested positive (at 17 weeks). You will need to avoid anything sugary (inc too much fruit), and also refined carbs (ie no white bread, white pasta, white rice (though basmati ok)) as a minimum, but we can go into more detail once you've had your appointment.

Frizbe · 29/04/2009 22:52

Oh pooo for all the poorly kids out there, impetigo not nice nor thrush, is dd on yoghurt then CSWS?

Hi MM

Jas, yay for bathroom being finished

Phoenix, hope all goes ok x

Sorry I've not been on much, been working and slaving over ss's bedroom, just a final gloss to be done tomorrow am, whilst I wait in for mum to take over with the waiting in for a bed delivery shift! went with coop beds in the end, as only company who actually had the bed we wanted in stock (futon double on the bottom, single on top)
Flame I take it you're sorted for the weekend with Meridian, I'll contact her for updates!

Phoenix · 30/04/2009 10:30

Thanks csws, i'll let you know later what happens at the clinic

EPPM - IIRC the last time i had a cold sore was when i was pg with Ds1.

Phoenix · 30/04/2009 15:24

My blood was 9 after the lucozade/2 hours. So i've got a finger prick machine to test my blood 1 hour after 1 meal a day and keep a record of it and i'll go back to ante natal clinic in 2wks (should be next week but we're going away mon-fri) to see how i'm doing.

Frizbe · 30/04/2009 18:00

Fingers x'd it stays ok then Phoenix

Well I have Meridians ds attempting a sleep over here tonight, fingers x'd all goes ok, as its Meri's birthday and it would be so nice for her to have a break and a lie in tomorrow morning!

Frizbe · 30/04/2009 18:00

Oh bed also arrived in the time slot allocated 10/10 for co-op beds.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/04/2009 21:23

Ah, 9 not so good. Very relaxed of them to only make you do it once a day and give you a whole 2 weeks. Did they give some diet advice for during that time?

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/04/2009 21:25

We have friend sleeping over tomorrow night Friz. Same one who stayed at new year, and it was a disaster trying to get the girls to share a room, even though they adore each other (friend is 5 months younger than dd). Not sure yet if we'll put them in the same room or put her in with her parents.

melancholymum · 01/05/2009 06:41

School holidays should be banned - I lose too much money with my before and after school mindees!!

Well no sign of AF so far so fingers crossed for me, have been having period pains on and off for a week now though so not sure if that's a good or bad sign really.

Have you been feeling unwell aswell then pg?

Good luck with all the sleepovers.

I have a friend staying with me at the mo with her 2 kids (left her husband) - it's a bit manic in this house at the mo. In fact, the house is a complete dump and both her and my husband have gone to work now, ds will be at nursery this morning, I have no childminded kids other than the school run and I have offered to help a friend tidy her house! - what the hell was I thinking???!!

Phoenix · 01/05/2009 08:26

csws - they didn't have much choice in me not going back for 2 weeks because we're going away Monday-Friday. I got a leaflet from the dietician and she did a talk. I've just had shreddies for breakfast and am going to test my blood glucose in an hour.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/05/2009 08:41

Ooh shreddies and milk will be quite high I'm guessing. You really need cereal without sugar in. I couldn't actually have cereal at all. In fact the only breakfast I could have was an egg and a single slice of wholemeal toast (from a selected number of loaves only). Was the hardest meal to cope with in fact. Did they explain that the GD causes blood sugars to be higher in the mornings moreso than the rest of the day?

Phoenix · 01/05/2009 08:52

Yes they said that. The dietician mentioned shreddies as been ok but i did have full fat milk too cos that's all we have in til i go to Asda in a bit. Ah well i'll see in a bit what my blood is.

Phoenix · 01/05/2009 09:36

Ooops 9.5 i'll try something different tomorrow i think. It took me ages to press the button, i'm such a wimp

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/05/2009 09:39

Full fat milk is fine phoenix. It should actually make the reading lower, because fat slows down the sugar absorption.
Try egg and toast (1 slice wholemeal) tomorrow. If that doesn't work then you're a lost cause .

EachPeachPearMum · 01/05/2009 22:15

Oh Phoenix- sorry to hear this. Hope it can be sorted through diet- csws probably has loads of ideas for food...

Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend.

DS seems a bit better, but feeding every 2 hours, so must be on growth spurt
DD is in meltdown city each evening... think the early mornings are killing her, even though she's going to bed at 6:30...

Jas · 01/05/2009 22:54

Sorry about the diabetes Phoenix. I hope you manage to get things under control, but if you don't then take advice from csws, and keep reminding yourself that it is much better that you know and are doing what you need to.

DP has a few weeks work at last and the bathroom is finished! I will do pictures over the weekend as evidence, and next week will be taking a crow bar to the old one. Yay!

EachPeachPearMum · 01/05/2009 23:04

Oh... meant to post link to this for csws...

good news Jas!

melancholymum · 02/05/2009 10:09

for the work and bathroom Jas.

Hope you get a breather from all the feeding soon EPPM!

How's your bloods today Phoenix?

I watched "PS, I LOve You" last night - has anyone seen it?? I was uncontrollably sobbing pretty much from start to finish - to the point dh started laughing at me because I was such a wreck! I look like I have been battered in both eyes this morning, I am either coming on anyday or am pg! Or just a big sap!
