SA it seems to never rain but pours in your household, hope tonight is better.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/03/2009 11:06

Well I finally have time to catch up properly.

Sponge hope the craft fair was good, what do you like doing and how do you find the time. Hope the scan goes well for you.

Neenz sympathies with the twins, finding it hard with one at the moment so you are mega mum being able to cope with 2, Seb is into everything, crawling and pulling himself up, so cannpt leave him alone at all which is quite trying.

AH yipee have finally got a referral to a dietician so hopefully we will be able to get some good advice.

DEB I was looking at the state of my kitchen today and did yours get finished?

Seb is know crawling and pulling himself up so from Wednesday he is going to nursery every morning, I can't do anything at the moment and falling behind with gardening, housework, bookeeping etc. Feel a bit guilty but know it is for the best.

And we went to look at a school for Edie on Friday and she is now registered there for a Spetember 2010 start. Having spoken to the head she says that they are unlikely to make a decision about schools closing before January and I wanted some peace of mind about where she was going before then. Luckily being rural and with quite a few schools we don't seem to have the problems of oversubscription. We had previously dismissed it because it wasn't an RC school and whta a mistake. They go out on walks and trips the whole time making use of the countryside and seaside. They have there own swimming pool and go swimming everyday and they do a lot of peer support so that the older ones come into the classrooms and help the younger ones whch is fantastic. They have started doing lessons where parents come in and see what their children are learning and they have an open door policy about going in to see teachers etc. So very pleased and wish that I was 4 again.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

DebInAustria · 29/03/2009 12:04

Systems - your ear sounds painful - hope it clears up soon and get well wishes for your dp too.

Five - lol, no our kitchen is still 1/3 finished or 2/3 unfinished, depending on your viewpoint. It's the 1st job after Easter when we have no guests and we can decamp in the guest apartment kitchen. Nigel is sooo looking forward to it - not!

You'll appreciate this Five - Worms create so much extra washing - changed all our beds again today, all towels need doing, clean pj's and underwear every night etc etc... and that's on top of guest washing - help.

At least mil is here to help out, she's sitting in the playpen with Ethan making lots of noise!

systemsaddict · 29/03/2009 12:06

Thanks 5. School sounds lovely!! have to look into options for ds soon, his birthday is August 27 so he'll be going in 2010 too - he'll be just 4 - unbelievable. Me and my brother went to a non-RC rural primary and had preparation for sacraments etc from some lovely nuns at home and in small local groups, which worked really well for us. Sounds like a good idea getting Seb into nursery too - don't feel guilty, getting all that other stuff done is part of looking after the family too.

systemsaddict · 29/03/2009 12:19

thanks Deb, it's much better now it's popped, just have to decide whether to get anti-bs now - would prefer not to really as I'm allergic to most of them! Your washing load sounds dreadful ... hope it won't be for too long.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/03/2009 14:34

I am sat here giggling picturing your MIL in the playpen. It has cheered me up as feeling tired and down today.

Have ignored B&B washing at the moment have no one in until next Friday so it can wait until tomorrow.

Didn't realise you were RC aswell SA they do classes outside of school hours so we will just trundle on to those for DD.

systemsaddict · 29/03/2009 14:59

am fairly comprehensively lapsed now 5! but was brought up RC and went to a really good RC comprehensive secondary.

poppy34 · 29/03/2009 17:28

5 am pleased school thing seems to have resolved.

HOw are you feeling SA - ear infections are vile.

Edie in front of tv as I'm feeling a bit yuck - hope I'm not coming down with something. better heave myself off the sofa to do the dinner...

ali I LOVE the spag bol photos

AliandHerScallywag · 29/03/2009 17:41

Thanks Poppy

Systems - poor you and your DH

Five - well done on finding a school. It sounds lovely.

Deb - urghh re the worms and good luck with the laundry mountain. I have a kitchen that was 1/3 done in Dec 07; 2/3 done in April 08 and will be 3/3 done next week when it gets decorated. It has taken me this long to be able to face the chaos post baby.

spongebrainbigpants · 29/03/2009 18:03

Deb, yuck and yuck about the worms - and the amount of extra work it has caused you too. Hope they're all gone soon .

Rolf, know what you mean about scans - they are a bit of a mixed blessing. My mum thinks that they can cause more worry than they prevent - but then, because of the absence of scans, she was seven months pg before she knew she was having twins!

Hope you had a lovely day at the christening - gorgeous weather for it. Can't believe your dh lying in bed while you get everything ready . Little sod!

5, yes, this is what I'm trying to tell dh - that Alex just gets up early! Dh is not convinced and is determined to 'fix' the problem!

As for the craft fair - I mainly do tapestry and knitting but have not done either for weeks . I have so many knitting projects on the go but am always so tired in the evening when I sit down. My NY resolution was to do at least half an hour a day but needless to say that has gone by the wayside.

However, the reason for the trip to the fair was to find a unique piece of jewellery for my 'eternity' ring. We've been looking for something since A was born! I found something beautiful - a really unusual braclet which the woman who makes them is going to make to my specifications and engrave A's name and DOB inside. It's gorgeous and I can't wait to get it now.

Btw, E's school sounds idyllic - an excellent choice!

poppy, scans must have been esp stressful for you given your experience . But, yes I can relate to the "getting a fix" analogy. I used to feel like that when I heard Alex's HB - as soon as I got back in the car I convinced myself that his heart had stopped and I wouldn't know . Crazy woman.

SA, you poor guys - your ear sounds v painful and it doesn't help when dh is ill too. My dh's sciatica has returned this weekend which is a nightmare cos he's been doing loads of the lifting and carrying for me - so we're both hobbling round the house!

Ali, that second spag bol pic is fab - he looks soooo proud of himself!

Have uploaded a couple of new pics to my profile - the first one was taken just before Alex toppled over and managed to give himself a lovely bruise!

AliandHerScallywag · 29/03/2009 19:31

Sponge - Alex looks very happy with himself in those pics. Is the activity cube thingy good then (mothercare right)? My Mum nearly got P one at Xmas but didn't in the end, could be just the thing for his first birthday instead.

Rolf · 29/03/2009 21:46

Sponge that cube toy Alex is holding onto - we have one just like it - in storage .

SA hope the ear infection clears up soon. Poor you, they are horrible.

Poppy that's exactly how I felt about scans. Emotional headf* aren't they?

5 the school sounds fabulous.

Well, the baptism went very well. Thea likes the priest very much, so was happy to get so much attention from him. The midwives who delivered her came and it was so lovely to see them again.

abdnhiker · 30/03/2009 07:50

Rolf would love to read an inventory of what you have in storage! LOL . Glad the baptism went well.

sponge great pictures! Alex is very cute. We had a doppler monitor and I used to use it every two or three days to reassure myself that Duncan and Fraser were still growing well in there. It might be a good option for you - although you can't hear the heartbeat reliably until about 13 weeks.

SA sending hugs, you've all had a rough time of it lately!

poppy hope you're not sick today

Deb love the picture in my head of your MIL in the playpen!

5 glad you found a good school, it's such a worry isn't it? We had to move house to get a good school...

spongebrainbigpants · 30/03/2009 08:01

Ali, we got ours from the NCT catalogue but I'm pretty sure I've seen them in Mothercare too. Alex absolutely loves it, so yes would definitely recommend it. It also hits all my criteria for toys: no plastic, no batteries, no noise!!

Rolf, yes, I too have this wonderful image of an Aladdin's cave of things in storage - you could make a fortune on ebay!

AH, thank you. Did think about the doppler last time but I know other people who had them and said sometimes they couldn't hear the HB . I think if that happened to me I would freak which is what always put me off having one . I do know someone who's got one so may try hers and see how I get on.

abdnhiker · 30/03/2009 08:19

sponge promise you wont try for another four weeks though? I gave mine to a friend to hold for me until I hit 13 weeks. (Have loaned it out currently or I'd mail it to you!)

spongebrainbigpants · 30/03/2009 08:33

I promise AH!

Amberc · 30/03/2009 12:30

Ali - I did laugh at that picture - what a mess!! Very sweet, bless him

After thinking that I had cracked the sleeping it came uncracked last night but was only 1 hour of crying at 2.45-3.45 and I did only go in once. Did have to lie there listening to it though. I think Luke is teething properly so I'm not thinking everything has gone down the drain but we'll see how tonight goes. I am really tired today though plus I must have had a dodgy soft shelled crab last night as I feel as sick as a dog and have done since I woke up with the baby.

Sponge - I had a doppler - I thought it was great as Luke didn't move throughout the pregnancy and I could always find his heart. The only time he did move was when I went into labour and turned the wrong way little monster!

Rolf - how was your food? What did you make in the end?

Systems - your ear sounds awful! Hope it clears up soon x

PiggyPenguin · 30/03/2009 12:30

Had the mil this weekend so haven't posted. She was ok apart from being very odd in her behaviour to Jamie. Obviously he gets to see her infrequently and so equates her with all the other strangers he is refusing to be held by at the moment. We did warn her he would be like this but she spent the weekend trying to pick him up and crowding him and then getting upset when he cried at her. Eventually she started saying things like, 'you don't love me do you', and 'I won't buy you a birthday present if you cry at me'. It was a tad annoying to say the least, especially as ds1 and dd started to get worried that she wouldn't buy him present. If she hadn't crowded him i'm sure he would have been fine but as she didn't leave him alone he spent more than 2 days being upset with her. [sigh]

Amberc · 30/03/2009 12:30

PS - Luke has started standing for a few seconds on his own now so the nursery were right.

Amberc · 30/03/2009 12:32

Sybil - oh dear. I think the in laws think that love for them is born into the child when it's not. I know my MIL will be exactly the same when we see her in summer even though Luke will not have seen her since he was 4 months old and will not have a clue who she is.

PiggyPenguin · 30/03/2009 12:47

Amber- J and Luke are obviously at similar stages. J is doing quite well at standing on his own now and can manage quite a few seconds. He has started trying to keep his balance rather than just collapsing and his hip thrusting to achieve this is very comical as well as effective!

poppy34 · 30/03/2009 12:57

amber sympathies from me - still feeling yuck and was up til 12.30 then again at 5.30 with edie (I am not sure what it is -she is mildly snotty, seems to be teethng a bit or could be jet lag though doubt that). she seems as lively as normal today which is more than can be said for me...

rolf glad it went well -that is so nice the midwives came along too.

all the talk abotu doppler monitors reminds me - I always loevd the idea of them but didn't trust myself to use it properly so reckoned could cause more stress so will stick to head messing of scans if I should be so lucky again...(testing for ovulation has just reminded me as before that my hormones are somewhat erratic and i'm a good source of revenue for clear blue ).

right going to take it easy..although edie just been sick so maybe has got version of what i have...

abdnhiker · 30/03/2009 13:56

Fraser's standing too - but didn't want to be the first to mention it. He only stands up for DH though, with Duncan and I he refuses to let go of us. I couldn't believe it when DH got him to show me last night.

spongebrainbigpants · 30/03/2009 14:02

AH, don't worry about being the first to mention something! Great to hear of all the standing babies - one of my NCT friends' babies is standing too, all v exciting! We're a little way away from that yet - A loves being up on his feet but his balance is still pretty poor.

sybil, can't believe your MIL! What an idiot!

Anyway, quick news from me - scan was perfect, measuring bang on for dates, HB 170 (much faster than Alex's which was only about 140) and wriggling like a good 'un! One v happy mummy!

poppy34 · 30/03/2009 14:37

yay sponge...and the spongelet

ah thats great - edie barely sitting up and does these strange kinds of tom jones hipthrusts when rolling ....

sybil your mil is a fool...
