Oh Daisy, men eh! Its wierd they can just not vope without us ladies!

Hana how are you getting on with the Bee I keep meaning to ask! Does your Lo like it?

I hope Dozy is ok!

Becca is still unsettled we were up more than we were down last night!
She seems to be pooing after every feed

Monkey your dinners always sound so nice X

Rosa · 14/03/2009 19:26

Hana minirosa is the same she has a really chubby face and actually lighter than she looks.
I was going to ask about the Bee as well as I cannot find a shop here to go and see one live - how is it on rough pavements and say up and down steps / kerbs ???
Also as the interior is black do they make cotton liners as it will be a sauna when it gets hot blak absorbing heat and all that ?

ChocOrange05 · 14/03/2009 20:07

Monkey chorizo stew sounds lovely, no banoffee pie though?? DH and I cook dinner together on saturday nights - he's good at sauces and I'm good at meat - tonight we had rib eye steak with a red wine and mushroom sauce and celeriac puree. It was delish!!

I will text Dozy now and find out - I spoke to her on Thursday and she didn't say anything, hopefully as she had time to update FB its not life threatening

Hana I get exactly the same with M - he's on the 20/25th centile and people always say he's big . I think its the reusable nappy big bum syndrome though - hence why I have just spent £13 a nappy on posh slimming ones - not that I am a vain mummy!!

MonkeyMargot · 14/03/2009 20:20

Coolkat sorry you're not having great nights. It's always a blow when they poo during the night as changing them definitely wakes them up!

ChocO ooh your steak sounds sooo good. We had rib-eye last week. I had it so, so rare...yum! When I see you Friday I'll bore you about our fab meal out last week...

Hope dozy is ok.

Re. babies and size etc. The Plum doesn't just look big - she is big! She's now on 98th percentile for weight and height. Born on 51st so has gone up lots.
Can't wait to see your "slimming" nappies Choc!!!

laters xx

MonkeyMargot · 14/03/2009 20:22

Choch a humble crumble for pud tonight - but I did bake a lemon cake today! DH at footie so Plum sat in chair and watched me cooking for an hour - she loved it!

barbareebaa · 14/03/2009 20:34

Hi

How are y'all getting time to do all this wonderful cookery??? MM love the sound of your chorizo and bean stew and lovely puds - wow!

Daisy I come from Harrogate, have lived in london for 2.5 years but we're getting a bit homesick for yorkshire now so not sure how much longer we'll last here!

Think W is going through something at the mo - growthspurt? - 16 weeks Monday. Won't settle at all so only got 3 hours sleep, up 5 this a.m. pah.
Also am getting slapped when feeding or a finger (or 2) up my nose/ in my eyes!!

Bought a baby monitor today - thought it would stop us constantly being on edge thinking we can hear W waking up... so now here we are sitting in front of monitor listening intently defeats object somewhat

MonkeyMargot · 14/03/2009 20:40

barbs you will get used to the monitor. I now turn the sensitivity level right down so I don't hear every little murmur! But I rememnber the first day of using it, listening in every minute!
I think 16-weeks is growthspurt time (again). Hope you have a better night.

P.S. cookery - I found that the LO enjoyed watching me cooking today - I kept chatting to her etc. whilst she sat in chair and I got lots done!

barbareebaa · 14/03/2009 21:05

Thanks MM

I tried to make a lemon cake with W in sling but he got bored, plus it was quite difficult to see what I was doing!!

Bah! W woken up!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 14/03/2009 21:44

bumble is really fidgety when feeding as well now. i need to keep my finger under his chin or else he unlatches all the time, but now he has started pushing my hand away from under his chin, then he unlatches....feeds take ages as we repeat this ad nauseum.

i think that they start to feed more at night around this time as they are just too darn distracted to have a proper feed in the daytime.

all these meals and recipes sound gorgeous. i'm definately going to try monkey's ragout recipe..sounds lush. Can we resurrect the recipe thread?

My locking away of the laptop was very successful the other day so i will be doing it regularly and making an effort to make more nice meals. And on that thought, perhaps DH busting my laptop wasn't such an accident after all

Pinkglow · 14/03/2009 21:56

I end up putting a muslin over Henrys face sometimes in the day while feeding otherwise hes looking around then getting annoyed when I take the bottle away.

I get the ohhhhhhhhh isnt he big too (which he isnt) but I think babies look bigger lying down - Henry certainly does.

PinkyMinxy · 14/03/2009 22:33

daisy hope you are feeling a bit more comfortble.

hope dozy is ok.

big baby talk. Imi is rather portly, bless her.

Everyone always asks how old DS is, then says, 'he's very tall, isn't he?' so my advice if you have a large baby is to get used to it, because it doesn't seem to stop once they cease to be babies

Food all sound syum. I am no chef.

bug bee- we love ours. DD1 is very attached to it, she sleeeps really well in it. Imi prefers the sling, I think, but I love the way we can swap it between them. Notamazing at going up kerbs, but it's so light to push it doesn't really matter.

Had a crap day today, TBH. I wish I didn't have to see my 'old family' at all. They mess with my head and I don't know how much more I can take without ruining my dc's and DH's lives, never mind have a meaningful life of my own.

ChocOrange05 · 14/03/2009 23:05

quick update from dozy. she's in st georges, transferred there in an ambulance last night with acute tonsillitus, she is also being tested for glandular fever. She has had 15 bags of IV antibiotics . I will update if I hear anymore.

OP posts:
PinkyMinxy · 14/03/2009 23:14

How awful. I do hope she is ok. Send our love, choc.

ChocOrange05 · 15/03/2009 08:40

Will do Pinky - I'll let you know if I hear more.

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 15/03/2009 09:53

Choco send dozy my love too. Hope she is OK.

Sorry to hear of all these unsettled babies, Jy has been a bit like that this week but he is full of cold. He sounds like he has a bad chest infection but he doesn't its just in his nasal tubes.
MIL very helpfully told me 'this boy needs olbas oil' yes thank you I have some butt out
Oh and its just laziness that he wasn't interested in food. WTF? me or him you nasty woman!
Can you tell she annoyed me yesterday

DH had the DCs last night, I had a lovely long bath and was in bed by 10 - bliss. Feel very refreshed this morn!

Jay is getting to be a little chubster too, lots of folds in his legs don't know what he weighs though, I really should take him this week - Bad mummy!
DS1 was massive always between the 91st and 98th centile.
He is a right skinny minnie now though, age 3-4 on top and still in 18-24 mths on the bottom, Its a good job he has short legs or his pants would all be half mast!

Pinky hope you are feeling a little better today. Love to you.

I'm going to get my ear pierced today (I hope) if I don't chicken out on the way! I am going for either a daith, a rook or a conch piercing - all cartlidge - all painful!
BIL is doing it for me! I must be mad
BIL is a professional piercer - I'm not just letting him loose!!

Hope everyone is having a lovley weekend.

Sorry this post has turned into a very random essay

Rosa · 15/03/2009 13:00

Morning all we haven't had a green poo here well a greenish yellow so I am hoping she has finally cleaned this bug out ... Cooking - Until I get minirosa a high chair she will not be in the kitchen unless she is up with us. I sat her in Dd1s with a cushion but she really needs an insert as she slipped down even with the harness !
Sorry to harp on about the bee but I can't find one to sample. Pinky back to the kerbs is it not good as it wont tip back to go up them ? I have on average 60 steps to do a day - bridges I think the bee will be too short to go up forwards on most of them but as its light I can pull it up backwards . Is the suspension good over bumps in the pavement etc ? Thanks
Daisy how are you feeling ?
Sorry about dozy hope she gets better soon.

ChocOrange05 · 15/03/2009 14:01

Update from dozy - she is going home, finally persuaded docs to let her but put on bed rest and a variety of drugs. Perhaps she will be able to get the laptop in bed and say hello soon??

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 15/03/2009 14:41

yay for minirosa. I hope she is on the mend rosa

poor dozy, I used to get bad tonsilitis when i was younger...tis truly awful. I hope she is feeling better soon.

My main wound dressing came off in the shower this morning and it bloody stings. I think I'm reacting to the sticky in the dressings as well as it's really itchy.

bumble is definately cutting a tooth. But, he is happy smiley baby again.....mostly!!

PinkyMinxy · 15/03/2009 15:02

THanks for your kind thoughts, LB.

Glad DOzy is home.

Rosa- Bee well it's more thatI'm used to big air filled tyres that you just shove against keerbs and the pram goes up! The Bee is very light so easy to tilt up kerbs and bump up and dowwn steps. The suspension is pretty good, but it's no off-road vehicle! I really think you could do with trying one- I wonder if you could just ask somone netx time you see someone with one?

Ouch Daisy!

Rosa · 15/03/2009 15:05

AM keeping everything crossed she is asleep and I keep waiting for the parrrrrp splat sound.. Daisy do you have any Aloe vera ? rub on the sticky stuff it is my answer to everything.
Oh bugger the Uk supplier for the bee has replied with a pretty good postage charge meaning if I bought it from the Uk I would save almost £100!! I just want to see one in rl just to be sure !
Good news on Dozy hope she manages to do the bed rest.

coolkat · 15/03/2009 15:07

Rosa when are you coming to the UK, could you try one then?

Just a quick one as not meant to be here

Catch up later. X

Oblomov · 15/03/2009 15:24

Good to see Daisy back.
Glad Dozy is home.

ChocOrange05 · 15/03/2009 15:29

Is anyone using fast-flow/size 3 teats on their LO's yet? I'm just wondering if M might want them as recently he seems to be getting a bit frustrated on the bottle and sometimes refusing it, his BF's have shortened considerably to 5-15 mins (compared to 20-30 mins before) so I was wondering if he might want the bottles quicker too??

We ate lunch at the table with him today for the first time - he just stared at us and made a really wierd chomping movement with his mouth. He really seems interested in the food.

OP posts:
Ceebee74 · 15/03/2009 15:52

Just had a quick glance through.

Glad Dozy is back home and hope she recovers very soon

Choc Sam has been on size 3 teats pretty much from day 1 - as he had really bad jaundice, he was falling asleep on the bottle constantly but we needed to get as much milk into him as we could so we shifted up to size 3 fairly quickly so he would take more over a shorter period of time iyswim - he was fine on them and has been ever since.

Had a lovely lovely family day today - I went to aerobics this morning, then we took both boys swimming (it was Sam's first time and after about the first 5 minutes, he seemed to enjoy it) and then we have just been for a 90-minute walk which included a kickabout for DS1 - I love days like this I am now knackered and have to find the energy to cook tea!!
