Morning

Good to hear from Mr D! Hope all is still well and Bumble has been behaving sleeping!

Take care Merry, see you soon. X

Ladybuzz hope Doula helps. X

Something not right with Becca but don't know what, she has a cough and cold still and feels warm but ear thermometer says not got high temp. She is still feeding well and wet nappies so no need for trip to doctor.

Off to take Nan to Asda after 10ish feed. Wish me luck!!

Remember I set myself target to get to 10st for 30th birthday well so far I have lost 1lb Think I may have failed have til April 12th!!

PinkyMinxy · 13/03/2009 10:22

coolkat is it Nan or ASDA you need the luck with? Hope becca perks up.

I think babies are getting a bit more demanding, now. Imi definitely gets bored. Luckily I have DH at home for a few more weeks.

I too am keen for Imi to be able to sit with us at the table soon, makes life a lot easier.

Once the kits have had their op next week,we can start to get rid of their toilet, which takes us a fair bit of space in our kitchen.

I used to put blankets and cushions on the floor for my other two DC to sit and play with their treasure baskets whilst I did cooking etc. Not sure OI have room now with all the pet beds, easel etc.

chocolategal · 13/03/2009 10:48

Morning everyone
Glad to hear from mr daisy, hopefully she will be home and on the mend soon.

Ladybuzz, hope the councelling helps.
Merrym, take some time out and we will forward to your return.

I am having a high chair nightmare! I want one that has different height settings, one where the seat reclines , has a tray but one that also comes off and can be pushed up close to a normal table. Is this too much to ask?
cricri does your m&p one push up close to the table?

pinky I'm with ya on our LO's becoming more demanding!
We have had a bad week, E has been really unsettled. Don't know if it's still the cold or teething or just a grumpy phase? It's frustrating as he is normally a happy contented boy and it's horrible seeing him upset & crying more. Sleep also has gone all to pot! DH was meant to be going on a golfing weekend but has just phoned to say he's cancelled it so I can get a break this weekend.
Very nice of him as he deserves a rest too!

Anyway it's a lovely day here so away to have a walk and get something tasty for lunch

Rosa · 13/03/2009 12:53

Hi glad All went well for Daisly.
I have a M&P prima pappa I think its called - It does all that you ask on your list but it is a complete bugger to clean - Mind you I think they all are I end up getting cocktail sticks out to scrape in the cracks !! DD1 is now 3 and she sits at the table in it as our chairs are not child friendly.
MInirosa still mega green pooing and the ff anti diaorrea milk has stoped the frequent watery bursts but its still green......

SausageRoleModel · 13/03/2009 13:16

hi everyone

Glad daisy's op went well. Look forward to an update when you are fit enough! (and thanks to your dh for posting)

MerryM take care and don't be gone too long.

LB look after yourself.

I quote myself from earlier in our thread somewhere, but having a new baby is tough tough TOUGH! On us, physically, mentally, on our relationships - everything. Thank goodness we have each other! I think i might burst if I didn't have this thread for help and encouregment and to vent on if necessary - so thank you everybody.

thanks chocorang and londonboots for info on how you do "the schedule". The less sleep and more food in the day still hasnt let her sleep any longer, in fact last night was four wakes! But we are desperately trying to get her to take EBM from a bottle t the moment, so most feeds are a battle with it and then top up on boob after. Although I then let her drink til she stops I suspect she isnt getting quite as much milk into her, and the poor wee thing can probably only manage one new thing at a time! We will persereve. The only annoying thing is that I am going to scotland to visit family mon-fri ext week, so everything is going to be disuprted for her. I will try very hard to keep her timings the same even if the location is different. Her cot is a travel cot anyway, so naps and bed should hopefylly not feel too different.

SausageRoleModel · 13/03/2009 13:18

oh hana when I had fountaining boobs I found Lanisoh pads the only things that could contain the ovrflowing milk! (bit don't know how earth-driendly they are if that is a concern for you. I suspect not very as they have the same powder that turns to gel in them that you get in disposable nappies. Have you thought about lilypadz?

coolkat · 13/03/2009 14:00

Choc, our chicco Polly does that as the arm rest goes uo so it comes to the table IYSWIM. Like Rosa says though it has nooks and crannies that are I should imagine a mare to clean!

Nan was why i needed luck!! Bless her.

Oh and I am sure my feet have grown

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 14:17

hello lovelys. I'm back in the land of the living and really touched by all your well wishes. I heart MN

feeling fine-ish, but a bit tired still as even though there was no bumble with me, I still woke at 11,1,3 and 5!! We all survived the night, but my boobs were fit to burst this morning and bumble is poorly again and I can't even cuddle him as I'm too sore

off for a snooze just now, but will hopefully be back on tomorrow sometime. My laptop is very sick though so I'm not sure if it's sortable or if it has to go back to the shop for a system recovery (I've had it nearly a year and haven't made any recovery discs [). I'm using DH's Eee PC at the minute and the keyboard is impossibly small and my poor old 40 year old eyesight can't cope with the teeny tiny screen.

morphine rocks....once I had stopped throwing up anyway

pmsl at the little red nose smilleys that i have just noticed

chocolategal · 13/03/2009 14:57

yay! Welcome back daisy rest up & get yourself better.
X

Thank you rosa & coolkat for your high chair suggestions, I have seen both of those online and thought they looked good, will try to go to shops next week to see them in the flesh.

cricri · 13/03/2009 15:34

Daisy Great to see you back Glad all went OK but sorry to hear Bumble is unwell again.
In fact quite a few of the babies seem to be out of sorts atm don't they?
Chocolategal I think you can take the tray off the M&P highchair so that it comes right up to the table. I must admit I got a bit carried away and didn't really think about how I was going to clean the damn thing It's lovely and clean atm of course because E just sits and plays in it, but in a few weeks' time it will be a different story!
MerryM Take care of yourself - we'll be here when you come back.
I'm out with the girls tonight and DH is babysitting, bless him. I think he'll be doing a lot of walking around with E in between feeds. Unless I can persuade him to wear the sling

Ceebee74 · 13/03/2009 15:42

Daisy welcome back - glad you are out the other side Hope Bumble picks up again. Am curious as my friend described the pain as similar to a cs (or as she imagined a cs would be as she has never had one ) - was she right?

Cricri ooh a night out with the girlies - how fab! Am - my night is sitting watching Comic Relief with a couple of glasses of wine!

am loving the red nose smileys

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 16:06

hey ceebee . totally different from cs as the pain is much higher up and more widespread...anything that puts strain on my tummy muscles is making me hurt, even opening a door, which i never had with my CSs.

It feels like I've done a hundred sit ups.

talking of which...need more painkillers.

lolling though at her saying like a CS although she has never had one.

we have established that DH did something with my pc when he logged on last night, so i have commandeered it until mine gets fixed...which is probably going to cost £100.

and ooh, I'm an anatomical anomaly apparently.....something in my plumbing is different from 90% of the population. I always thought I was a bit special

PinkyMinxy · 13/03/2009 16:54

hi daisy glad you are ok. sorry you are in so much pain, tho, and bumble is poorly, too. Get you with your special plumbing!

DS is a bit ploppy in the botty, sadly.

cricri have awonderful time, you deserve it!

lol at cleaning the highchair with cocktail sticks. I have to employ a pan scourer to get concrete weetabix off the tripp trapp, but it's not too bad for crevices. if you want ease of cleaning the antilop wins definitely, tho.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 17:29

there are so many bugs around at the minute, it's not real.

dd is being super challenging at the minute. Like a true predator she knows I'm defenceless

got a letter from work today regarding potential redundancies. now i know it is more difficult for them to make you redundant on maternity leave, but fingers crossed they do, as I'd rather it was me than one of my colleagues, and we have an insurance policy for such an eventuality.

PinkyMinxy · 13/03/2009 18:28

hana it's similar, like the babydan one, and looks great, but I would check out a few points- I like the fact that the tripp trapp tucks under the table like a normal chair, and it's footprint is quite small. The one there looks to have arms- are they detachable?

The best price for the tripp trapp was on kiddcare when I last looked.

tray for tripp trapp here

I just put some sticky back plastic on our kitchen table for my other two. I wonder of a regular tray with some velcro may do the trick?

tegan · 13/03/2009 18:39

Well i didn't think i would be thinking about high chairs yet but i guess if you lot are perhaps i should. O is 14 weeks and i am still bf every 2 hours, we have tried many times to give him a bottle but he won't have it so now dh has suggested we start O on solids. The las t couple of evenings O has been really fretful and hard to get to bed, he is fast asleep when i hold him but the minute i lay him down he screams, last night it was 12.30 before he finally settled and as you know he has been a wonderful sleeper since birth, so perhaps this is another sign that he needs solids???

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 18:50

we've got one of those oilcloth type table cloths on the kitchen table as it's wipe downable rather than having to wash it all the time.

bumble has a viral thing this time. he is pale with red rimmed eyes and a very runny bottom and a cough. poor thing. doc says his ears are clear though.
i also have a bit of a frog in my throat, but it's too sore to cough.

Mr D is poorly too (more like ccompetitive illness if you ask me!!) and is whimpering about sleeping on the sofa to get a decent night's sleep, leaving me to work out the logistics of feeding bumble in the night when I can't pick him up. AIBU in wanting to throttle him as he picks his way through the daily detritus left by two children and a baby in a pathetic, but martyred fashion?

IKEA don't seem to do the highchair that we have anymore, but if anyone is short of space and wants a folding one, THIS is very stylish.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 18:58

tegan, 14 weeks is too young for solids still. Ideal is 26 weeks, but certainly not before 20 weeks. Giving him pureed veg and baby rice at this stage could do more harm than good as it has bulk which fills his tummy, but is nowhere near as nutricious/calorie dense as milk alone. The end result being that he takes on less milk than he needs for this stage of development and could lose weight.

is he maybe having a growth spurt?

LadyBuzz · 13/03/2009 19:02

daisy good to see you back, hope you are fit and well soon.

hana Jay had chicken pox at 10 weeks and it didn't bother him at all. DS1 was far worse. Hope he misses it though.

Having a girlie night in tonight with lots of pink wine - can't wait.

ellielou02 · 13/03/2009 19:27

Hi all,
Daisy Glad all went well and hope you have a speedy recovery!
chocolategal I have a chicco polly it is height adjustable, reclines and the tray comes off! You can have a look on wed if you want, I got it from a friend who used it twice the only thing that is wrong is it has some mildew spots on straps as she stored it in her shed, she has washed it and I have bleached it and washed it but they wont come off! Anyone any ideas it doesnt really matter as its been washed but doesnt look nice.
OOps just noticed coolkat said about high chair but your welcome to look at it!

MonkeyMargot · 13/03/2009 19:33

Ooh CriCri enjoy your girls night out! How exciting!
LadyB enjoy your girlies night in!

Lacks glad you're back in land of living and op went ok. Poor Bumble though. I bet your DH is ill from having to do everything whilst you were in hospital! And we all know that men do get competitive illnesses like you say...

High Chairs We went to look at these today, and have decided on the Tripp Trapp. The shop we went to does price matching and offers it at £159 for the package including cushion set etc. This is quite a lot cheaper than I've seen elsewhere - they sell them online too - called Peppermint if anyone's interested.

I've just started reading up on BLW and have ordered Gill Rapley's book. I realise I may have missed some discussion on this here already, but what, in general, does everyone think of BLW?

DH is cooking tonight, so am enjoying this time to MN whilst he slaves over hot stove! I've been gently "encouraging" him to cook twice a week - so far, so good!

Londonboots - I, like you always cooked for DH since we met 9 years ago. When I met him, he had never, ever used his oven. He used to have Cadbury's Creme eggs in the egg compartment of his fridge...
Anyway - I'm working on this now, as I realise part of the reason I was so tired was from trying to do everything, including cooking every night.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!
Am i the only BahHumBug person who detests Comic Relief BTW?

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 19:43

sorry tegan, didn't mean that to sound preachy . You should maybe shat it over with your HV?

poor bumble. his temp is 39 inspite of calpol and nurofen

LackaDAISYcal · 13/03/2009 19:44

I meant CHAT, obviously

damn these teeny tiny keys.

coolkat · 13/03/2009 19:54

Poor Bumble and you Daisy as you should be resting. x

I am so tired . . ..
