cat, dd3 was born 4 days late and is pretty much sleeping through at 10 and a half weeks..goes down at 7.30, wakes about 4am for about 10 min feed (v quick for her and she could maybe drop it but i don't mind as its so quick) then sleeps through to 7ish. she is fully breast fed.

my twins slept through from 10.30pm to 6am from 12 weeks and from 7 to 7 from 5 months. they were mixed fed with formula at night. they were 2 weeks early and much smaller (7lb1oz, 6lb10oz and dd3 was 8lb9oz). i appreciated every night of it after the hellish first few months!

kayzr · 09/03/2009 15:33

Jump I just sent you an e-mail about the Avent bottle but got the automatic vacation e-mail. If no one else wants them then I'd love them as we are a bit stretched as DS1 still has a morning and bedtime bottle.

daisydora · 09/03/2009 15:35

DS was 9 days early - most definately not sleeping through.

DD was born on her due date, slept through at 12 weeks, but stopped again when she was weaned!!!!!

DH had to go to hospital today for an appointment. MIL took him which was very nice of her. But of course she couldn't resist having a moan about me. I should go out to work all day and leave DH with the kids. Well what a wonderful because if DH can't find a job I'm sure I bloody well can!!! She really pisses me off!!!

kayzr · 09/03/2009 16:54

See I am so peed off I forgot the word 'idea'

jumpjockey · 09/03/2009 17:13

Kayz - got your message

Re cradle cap - dd has a bit just at her hairline and we were given some Neals Yard baby balm which seems to have done a really good job of clearing it up.

Bad news. - big rant alert, feel free to ignore! SIL gets married in Scotland at the end of May and DH isn't going to be able to get time off to go The way the leave diary works at his practice is pretty annoying if we're honest - at the start of the year there's a sheet of paper goes round the docs in turn, and each one writes down when they want to be on leave. Then the one who was top is bottom next year, everyone moves up one place etc. So if someone else has booked off the time you want, tough. Fortunately he was top of the list the year we got married so he could book honeymoon without any problem. They have 5 FTE docs, and no more than two can be on leave at any one time as otherwise there aren't enough people to see all the patients, and two others have said they want to be off when he needs to be. Apparently there's no space for negotiation and they've only got round to telling him this now?!

And the person who does the leave rota fecked it up last year as well - we'd booked a ski holiday for Feb, in November of the year before. DH was told it was all fine when the leave sheet went round, but then two weeks beforehand when checking something else completely by chance he found out that he'd been written in the diary as off for a week in March, not Feb, and that two others were already booked off for that week, and there was no way he would be able to get the leave or cover. So I went with our gang of mates on my own and he had to stay home. we managed to find a mate at short notice to fill most of the week so got at least some of the money back but I'm still p'd off about that, the woman basically said "Oh dear, well that's a shame isn't it?"

Basically, in any other situation I'm sure they'd try and work it so that he could get the leave for the wedding, but nobody's willing to be flexible. Problem is, it's on a Friday and to get there we'd need the Thurs as well and that's the day that's the problem. V cross!

On a cheerier note, have just discovered that singing the Carpenters to dd made her go from crotchety to mellow to asleep in about 3 seconds flat!

Hi, I hope you?ve all had a good weekend? Ours was mixed; The good ? DD slept through on Saturday for the first time (well until 5, but as she wouldn?t got back to sleep after that we?ve called it sleeping through). The bad - DD and I have got thrush . I thought she had forgotten how to latch on, as feeding was starting to hurt my nips, and then over the weekend she?s been really playing up at feed times and screaming blue murder and refusing anything, which was really upsetting. So I went to a breastfeeding support group this morning and the BFC immediately suggested thrush and not a bad latch (she pointed out that DD is cleverer than I was giving her credit for and wouldn?t just forget how to latch on), so I?ve already got some cream for me and medicine for DD ? I hope it works quickly. What I forgot to ask, is it ok to continue expressing (moo) as long as I sterilise the pump each time? I think a few of you have suffered with thrush, did anyone continue expressing?

Nolda I bet you were so relieved when DH and DD got back from hospital, I hope she feels all better now

Kayz crufts sounded fab, glad you had fun

Verso that?s great you?re getting a chunk of sleep each night, long may it continue

JJ we also couldn?t get DD to wake enough to take anything for a dream feed, so gave up after a couple of nights and are also super-charging between 6 and 8 ? she normally sleeps until about 3am ish after that. You do right to rant about your DHs leave, I would in that situation! If it?s your SIL, is it his sister getting married? And no one will negotiate for his sisters wedding? I?d be gutted. [cross]

And on cradle cap ? I?ve just discovered today that DD has a little bit so would like to catch it quick. I love this thread ? the answers are already here just as I need them Someone mentioned using olive oil and shampooing it out ? effie maybe ? how long do you leave the oil on before washing out?

Can any of the Yorkshire lasses (or anyone who?s been to Yorkshire) recommend a baby friendly day out? It?s our wedding anniversary this week, so we?re planning a nice day out to celebrate our first anniversary as a family rather than a couple ? does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2009 18:38

Hello just checking in am with J who is alternating between extremely happy and horribly distressed. Don't know if it's to do with teeth, wind or chicken pox. He has just today started coming out in the spots he picked up from ds1. Poor little man.

I've finelly caught up and lots to post but I think J needs my attention so will bookmark now and post more later.

katie3677 · 09/03/2009 18:56

LadyT, I'm about 15 miles from Leominster. Glad you enjoyed Shropshire, being a real foodie (both for work and pleasure) I love Ludlow. Kitchen is now started, but I get the feeling it is going to take a loooong time. Be prepared for much moaning from me on here!
ZJ leave the olive oil on overnight if you can. I cover the head with a hat to keep oil of sheets, me etc
Opinions wanted please: The insurance is paying for most of the kitchen to be done, plastering, paint, tiles and worktops and we have decided that we might as well pay for new units and cupboards. My dilemma is this, the cupboards I want, these, are about three times the price of some that are on offer www.wickes.co.uk/pcat/kitcheninsp?WT.ac=SP29049#. They are alright but not exactly what I wanted. Considering that we are not planning on living here for that much longer, should I go for the cheaper version?

katie3677 · 09/03/2009 18:59

Oh and Cat, DS was born on his due date and slept through at 12 weeks, DD born 11 days early and slept through at 12 weeks, for four nights anyway. I am hoping she'll go back to it once she kicks her cold and cough.

Hello girls

JJ, that is SO annoying about your DH's leave. Is there no way that a locum could be found or 2 days? It is his brother's wedding after all.

Hello Veggie, lovely to see you and glad you are back.

Zoe, thrush, how painful. I can't remember the advice about expressing but I do know you need to ensure you are both treated and completely cured as otherwise you keep passing it forward and back. Hope it clears soon.

Supercat, on the sleeping thing, DD1 was 2 weeks late and did not sleep through til about 18 months. DD2 a week early and slept through from 8 weeks, DS ten days early and the jury is out. Sometimes does 6 hours, sometimes fewer. Last night he did only 3 and snacked all night. I was shattered today.

Kayz, the Crufts trip sounds great fun. I know what you mean about the annoying MIL - I metaphorically go "la la la" when she is having a go at me or telling DH what I should be doing as otherwise I'd have to kill her. I am mindful that I will probably be a MIL one day though and am trying to remember what not to say.

Verso, so glad you are getting a bit of sleep. I am afraid your CAT only reached me today but I will email you back

Good to se you Hatty - glad all is well with DD3.

Trace, I think with your friend you do have to be careful that you don't take too many of her insecurities etc to heart as otherwise you will be emotionally drained by her. It's very hurtful to hear such things but I would not waste too much energy on putting her straight. Just remind her how 4 year olds don't really do the deep thinking which she ascribes to her. I suspect that a few months away will do her the power of good.

Hello LadyT, sorry about your pub trauma, but glad you had a good time overall.

KMP, the cot I have is the samsonite one. However, I also have a little life portable travel cot (the joys of having 2 kids needing cots) which is great as it packs up very snall.

We have had high drama here and I am shattered. DS has had a bad cold which meant the babysitter called me back (first time in 4 years and she has 5 kids of her own, so must have been quite bad). Felt a bit freaked by that. DD1 has had worms and has to have a blood test on Friday to see why her lymph nodes are enlarged. Am terrified but trying to keep a positive outlook. Plus she has managed to knock a tooth out so a dentist's trip beckons. DD2 fine. DH fine but working too hard and never here. I am a basket case.

EffiePerine · 09/03/2009 20:32

Sybs: do you have wine?

kayzr · 09/03/2009 20:39

Sybil, so sorry about the DCs and their illnesses. Hope DD1 is ok and it is nothing to worry about. I do think you need wine. I have decided that there should be a wine takeaway. So when you need wine and you have none in you just ring and hey presto wine appears.

traceface · 09/03/2009 20:42

Sybil - hope the blood test for dd1 goes ok and that you get some speedy, reassuring results xxx

Kayz - were you at the docs today or is it tomorrow?

hattyyellow · 09/03/2009 20:44

Kayz that is a great idea.

I have got back onto G&T - have not liked it since drinking it in excess as a sixth former but its just right for an evening wind down when you don't want to crack open a bottle. And I can kid myself it is hydrating for the breastfeeding as it has water in it!

Painfully stubbed my toe earlier on the stairgate in my haste to get down the stairs after DD's bedtime and get a drink! Do you think this is the first step down a rocky road..

traceface · 09/03/2009 20:48

thanks for all your thoughts everyone on my needy friend . I think you're right about the effect she's having on me - it is quite draining to hear all the time, and dh is getting fed up with me getting upset about it! Will try to put her straight light heartedly next time she says my girls hate her.

P's jabs went fine - she's not been as upset as she was with her first lot. But she has done 7 pooey nappies today!!!

Am hoping she'll sleep a bit better tonight. I used to put her down at 7 and she'd sleep till midnight ish (then 3 ish then 6 ish), but the last 3 nights she's fed again at 9.30 then a million more times through the night. Am hoping the jabs will give her extra tiredness for a least the next few hours...

jumpjockey · 09/03/2009 20:49

Cat - Yesterday once more re sleeping through, DD was a week early and has yet to sleep through, the best she managed was 8pm until 5am but that was a one off.

Re SIL's wedding, I guess we could look into getting a locum, they are horrifically expensive though and we'd have to pay [yikes]

Sybil - you need this, as in fact do we all quite frankly. [[http://www.mensup.fr/usbwine/?act=insc&mp=USBWINE&o=92&p=61 USB wine] Hope the family is on the mend soon.

and veggie hugs for J as well. Poor little mites

ZJ have checked my BF book and it says you should throw away any milk you express as it could reinfect you both. Hope the medication works quickly.

hattyyellow · 09/03/2009 20:50

Posted my message before finishing!

zj sorry to hear about the thrush. baby friendly days out - are you north yorkshire? Beningborough Hall is fab and has great cafe, changing area, toddler play room and playground. It's just north of York.

sybil you poor thing - you richly deserve a drink. Hope the test results are okay.

jj that's so annoying re the leave - really hope you can find a solution.

I wanted to ask those with toddlers - is the sibling rivalry getting better for you at all if there was jealously about the new baby? One of my older DD's seems to be getting worse rather than better and I'm not sure how to handle it. She's had lots of accidents recently after being completely potty trained for over 8 months and I think its a cry for attention, plus shes got incredibly clingy - we've been to two birthday parties in the last week plus lunch at a friends house where shes been before and she refused to even go through the door for ages, just crying and wailing and hanging onto my leg. Not easy when you have two toddlers with you and a car seat and various bags and birthday presents! Have tried reassurance, spending time with her, being firm but fair but nothing seems to be working. Any magic tips?

kayzr · 09/03/2009 20:56

Thursday Trace, I tried to get in earlier but no appointments. DS2 has his next jabs Wednesday, which I am dreading but DH is coming so I don't have to see the needle.

A very good friend of mine on MN had her DD2 8 weeks early and she should have brought her home today. She was meant to come home yesterday but she lost some weight so they had to put it back a day. I just feel so pleased for them. I've been worrying sick so I'm extra happy today.

kayzr · 09/03/2009 21:05

OOooooooooooh forgot to tell you about my scary dream!!!

I had a dream last night I got a BFP!! You know I was ill last week, well I'm on the pill and if you are ill it doesn't work. I had a horribly terrifying dream that I got a BFP and that the baby was due on the 1st December.

Luckily we haven't had sex since I was ill and the last time was a week before I was ill so unless DH has super sperm we are fine

kayzr · 09/03/2009 22:04

Veggie You just have to see this when you get a chance!!!

katie3677 · 09/03/2009 22:32

Sorry, just realised that my links don't work, never mind.
