I've stalked wg & veggie on facebook as well!!

Trace, glad you got through to your friend. Would love to share some echocolate but its Lent

babymakes4 thanks for the link, looks good. We've always taken a musical light for ds1 whenever we've gone to my parents & that helps.

Daisy hope your dh gets better soon, but no its not just him that's always iller than everyone else!

cat getting back to sleep after a feed, I lie on the bed and just concentrate on relaxing each part of my body working from the feet up. Right now I get to about my shoulders & I'm half asleep, I'm hoping it won't be long before I can't move off my feet!

Babymakes4 · 12/03/2009 20:19

Cat - it will also make you feel better re:hoover that one day, when she was about a year old, DD1 just got up in her travel cot and my parents-in-law's house and turned it off and we have never used it for her since! She is hilarious with her sister and 'the song' as she calls it. The only risk is that when the batteries go flat or you stupidly leave it in your car on a long ferry journey to Ireland etc etc you are left with a very grumpy child ( I tried singing the song on the ferry - turns out that unless it is performed by an electronic high-pitched machine it is not effective!)

Babymakes4 · 12/03/2009 20:24

And for getting back to sleep I use the World Service as my own version of white noise (wonder where the girls get it from...)

waitinggirl · 12/03/2009 20:28

here's a rant from me... watching the comic relief thing about climbing mount kilimanjaro - how on earth can they show denise von outen asking a woman whose child HAS JUST DIED THAT MORNING questions about the death??? they would simply not do that to a woman in this country - it simply would not be allowed to be shown or be thought dignified etc... why oh why is it considered acceptable to show it on tv if it's an african woman?

i understand it's for a good cause, but honestly.

rant over.

dh plays a small part in a mitchell & webb/armstrong & miller sketch

kayzr · 12/03/2009 20:29

I've got Cat, Effie, Turnip, Veggie and WG on my facebook.

I've started a Mumsnet December 2008 Mums group. So if you want to find each other on facebook we can join and find each other. We have one for my march 07 too.

EffiePerine · 12/03/2009 20:36

I have some Morrisons dark choc with orangey bits - rather nice . DS2 asleep - for the last couple of nights he's gone happily to bed in the early evening, though it does mean more wakings in the night. DH is uber-stressed over work but hasn't shouted at the computer for about half an hour which I am regarding as a Good Thing

LadyT and Trace: you are very wise and very right about not holding on to negative emotions

Hello Baby4! Please keep posting, I am rubbish at replying to everyone as I can't keep more than 3 htings in my head at once but gamely carry on

Cat: sorry about the row, hope you and DH have made up. The last night out we had sans children was about a year ago .

Am also on FB is anyone fancies a game of Scrabble . I am currently trouncing my big sister in TWO GAMES so feeling pleased with myself.

Night wakings: I always feed DS2 back to sleep, it's the quickest way at the moment. Have got into the habit of bringing him into bed with us in the early hours, not convinced he sleeps any better though. Then we get the klaxon (aka DS1) waking us up with WAAAHHH! BREKFUSS MUMMY!!! at about 6:30.

Skin: thanks for everyone's help on DS2's scaliness, have been using E45 which works a treat on the rash and Weleda calendula nappy cream on his sore neck - sorted it in a day. They do a baby face cream too which may be worth trying.

rosmerta · 12/03/2009 20:40

Effie, I'm a big Scrabble fan, we'll have to have a game

rosmerta · 12/03/2009 20:44

Kayz, good idea starting the group, I've sent my request to join!

Wg, I didn't see that interview, just unbelievable

Turniphead1 · 12/03/2009 20:54

just a quick hello to all as have not had a chance to catch up since our trip to Dublin. Note to self and others - travelling to Dublin for only 2 nights with three kids is mental, don't do it (again).

We had a good enough time but the travelling nearly killed me (so much walking at both sides) but L was a complete poppet and wasn't the least bit unsettled in her cousin's moses basket. Alas, I have no in-law horror stories. Indeed, it was my sister-in-laws mother in law (if that makes sense - her DH's mum) that was a pain, and made me appreciate mine all the more. She kept trying to prize the baby off her when she was feeding her - and told her she has a big ar*e (despite the fact that my sis in law is about 6 stone and looks fairly emaciated alas).

Did get out for one pint of guinness which I enjoyed greatly. And sis in law and I have definately become closer and built bridges over the shared bond of motherhood (altogether....aaaah).

Kayz got your group request. As long as I can keep my membership of it private (ie doesn't come up that I have joined it) then I will. Have secret paranoia of other people in RL reading this thread....and knowing its me...

Sorry for me post. Hope to get chance to read all the goings on (I have been back since Monday night but taken me this long to get back on the thread). Supercat are you having a toughie? Only know this from FB status. Hugs if you are lovie.

Turniphead1 · 12/03/2009 20:56

ps; big welcome to Baby makes 4!!

EffiePerine · 12/03/2009 20:56

Your turn Ros

Thanks for the invite Kayz: have joined!

kayzr · 12/03/2009 20:56

Thats fine Turnip. It is a closed group so only people that join can see anything. I have to let people join so no random people can join it and see anyone in the group.

jumpjockey · 12/03/2009 21:04

Hello everyone

Thanks for your thoughts for my friend and baby M, waiting to hear so am assuming it's no news is good news, and they're busy giving her lots of (very gentle) cuddles and kisses.

kayz have asked to join the FB group, will then start stalking people [muahahaaaaaa!!!!] Never did make it to the post office with those bottles but have packed them up and will take them tomorrow, promise!

kmp that sheep looks soooo cute! We have a BT baby monitor that plays twinkle twinkle for 15 mins and dd is usually well away by the time that finishes. The website with the sheep looks really good, they have grobags much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen

JB/veggie a co-ordinated coffee time is such a good idea! I made a dreadful mistake and had decaf this morning - wondering if it would help dd nap better - instead I just got a stinker of a headache addict? me? naaahhhh!

JB jeans shopping is indeed awful. The sizes are never the same from one shop to the next, and it's so hard to tell from looking at them if they'll bag at the back of the waist or be too tight on the thighs or whatever. I've taken to saying "They're not the same shape as me" rather than blaming myself for being a weird shape. I mean, I'm a normal woman, why is it so hard to find trousers that fit?!

LadyT you're brilliant, not many people could come out with such a positive view of such a bad experience - you're right of course, bitterness is such a corrosive emotion. You're an inspiration to the rest of us

katie we have a bumbo which has been used by about a dozen of the babies in our circle of mates, it's so cute to see dd sat up in it looking round at the world they're great

trace great news about the nappies going down well and well done for getting the message across to your mate in a non-confrontational way. People have said before you'd make a great counsellor, you do have a gift for getting to the point and saying difficult things in a way that makes sense.

cat, rosmerta's advice about getting back to sleep is great, that's like the relaxation we did in ante-natal yoga during which I almost always nodded off

Today's question. When she's in the sling, dd will only ever turn one way - she's always looking at what's going on over her left shoulder (my right) and never looks the other way. This means I end up a bit unbalanced, and get a sore back, plus of course she only ever uses one side of her neck muscles (I think?!!). Is this normal? She only sucks the thumb of her left hand as well, is it a sign that she's going to be a southpaw? Asked DH and he shrugged in a 'no idea, go ask mumsnet' way!

Babymakes4 · 12/03/2009 21:06

This posting is addictive, no?! Anyway, thank you for the welcomes and, Turnip, just to say that we also considered Liadan for ours - it is a beautiful name! My DH is Irish and we spend a lot of time going back and forth, although we are planning on using the ferry this year to avoid Ryanair hell with a baby and toddler!

kayzr · 12/03/2009 21:07

Its ok Jump.

For some reason it wont let me be your friend on FB. I added you to the group but you don't show up.

Katie Don't believe the "Babies can't fall out of Bumbos." DS1 has loads of times and we are unsure of using it for DS2. DH wants to just chuck it in the bin.

EffiePerine · 12/03/2009 21:08

jj: DS1 had a strong preference for his left hand from v young (I think we noticed when he started batting at things) and is now firmly left-handed. Think DS2 might be going the same way, not suprising as DH is the only male in his family who is right-handed. Not sure about the facing thing, I think DS2 has a preference but haven't noticed which one

kayzr · 12/03/2009 21:10

Oh and DS2 always looks to his right in his sling unless DH has it on. Then he looks to his left.

rosmerta · 12/03/2009 21:17

Apparently, which hand will be dominant is decided by the time they're 3, but ds1 still uses both!

jumpjockey · 12/03/2009 21:18

ah kayz it's because I have ridiculous privacy settings, only friends of friends can see me [paranoia] - I see WG has broken the ice so hopefully soon I'll show up like a normal person.

re sides - kayz how bizarre that ds looks one way for each of you! Effie my bro is left handed, maybe it's a gene that shows up once in a while??!

kayzr · 12/03/2009 21:21

I don't know if it is because DH is taller so the sling feels different. My mum is left handed and she is the only left handed in our family. DS1 draws with his right but holds his fork in his left hand.

jumpjockey · 12/03/2009 21:25

Oh hooray - have just had message from my mate to say all is well she's in ICU and under sedation but op went very well. Thank you very much to GOSH for keeping little M safe

kayzr · 12/03/2009 21:25

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant news Jump

lal07 · 12/03/2009 21:31

Hello

Wish I could catch up properly... but have more boring work to do this evening. Am so out of practice.

LadyT if you want to join me in a spot of light gambling and TV shouting I will indeed be betting on various races this weekend. But only virtually I'm afraid. Realised actually going to Cheltenham would have been mad. As everyone has said you are very wise - is so impressive (and difficult) to make the choice not to be bitter.

Trace Cat Effie yes to chocolate. And Kayz have asked to join fbook group but my fbook account is in my maiden name - so the helen with another surname is me.

Am glad nappy handover passed without incident Trace . JJ thinking of your friends.

We've also put DD in her bumbo. V sweet. And she's started really laughing at stuff today. Her brother mainly.

Sigh. Must get on. Still not decided about shoes...but enjoying virtual shopping. Can't remember who it was asked if you can wear the same outfit to different weddings. Resounding yes from me - especially as I've always used it as an excuse to spend twice as much on said get up (shoppers logic).
