Elkidee always love a good excuse to watch old Shameless episodes

dinkystinky · 13/03/2009 20:43

MS - sorry to hear your csec site is infected (is that the fourth or fifth csec lady to have an infection). Hope the ABs and ice cream kick in soon and get rid of the pain.

Elkie - Danny has been in a must feed, will not sleep though am exhausted frame of mind since 4 today. Am hoping he'll sleep at some point tonight. He's currently watching 3.10 to Yuma with us...

The house of lurgies continues...DS has now come down with a spectacular chunder bug (sick 3 times in 1 hour - god knows how he had so much chunder in him). So that's two sickly boys in my house - just waiting for Danny to come down with something other than his cold now and will have a hatrick..

MS sorry your wound has become infected....Cross fingers that with the right anti-b's it'll start to heal - I think it was about 4 days before I got any result. 7 weeks on my wound now looks more like a scar and not oozing BUT the area above it is still tender and a bit lumpy and I'm not convinced it's better....it's so frustrating so I sympathise.

Enjoy the ice-cream....ooh I fancy some now (need to be losing weight...I forget sometimes that I'm not pregnant any more) and I don't have any excuse that I'm breastfeeding so need the calories either.

I was so ready to put my two to bed tonight. DD was a complete whingemonster all day today when she was awake but at least she had a few good sleeps and as I spent the afternoon with the NCT'ers it didn't feel so bad. I heaved a huge sigh ofrelief when DH arrived home at an abnormal time of 6pm and took DS off for his bath. Just the thought of it made me feel exhausted.

I'm off to bed now....another exciting night ahead . Best form of contraception the old newborn and separate bedrooms scenario - Where does anyone find the time/energy??? Hats off to those who have. I think our kids might have left home by the time we get round to it (and DH will probably have run off with a younger model too by than although thankfully he seems almost less up for it than me )

herbgarden · 13/03/2009 20:47

Oh dinky poor you - that's the last thing you can probably cope with. Hard to rope anyone else in either when they're being sick isn't it....hope you all get through the night without too much more chundering

nkweto · 13/03/2009 21:04

Hi all, been offline for ages. We have had loads and loads of visitors coming to see my mum.. which is great but exhausting ! DS is so tired and is getting very grumpy late in the day and we are trying to catch up on our chores in the evening as the flat seems to get trashed every day.. so think we are starting to all feel a bit grumpy..

DS and I have also been a bit unwell this week so that hasnt helped. and DD is quite unsettled and throwing up more milk than usual.. which I have put down to me being poorly

Dinky hope your DH is better soon...

...sorry I am a bit moany, which I feel I shouldnt be as I have been so excited about my mum being here..

MOS my 5 year old niece asked if I was having another baby as my tummy was still round and 'sticking out'.. I almost feel better that I am not alone . Will have to find a way to get to a post natal exercise class after my 6 week sign off..

Managed to miss my HV weigh in this week, but DD is looking very chubby and developing some big cheeks so I think her weight gain is fine, but will go for a check next week..

Markstretch hope your scar heals soon...

Sorry, havent managed to catch up on all messages...but would a cafe in a central park be a good meet up spot, I can't think of a good child specific location that has indoor and outdoor space..

nkweto · 13/03/2009 21:05

oooh Dinky your DS sounds like what my DS (followed by me) had ....

swampster · 13/03/2009 22:30

Ooooooh nkweto, I've just been looking at places for something else, like the look of The Lido in Hyde Park. It is right next to the Diana Memorial Fountain. Not been but sounds lovely.

chilledmama · 13/03/2009 22:34

I remember talk of meeting at Wisley... don't know what's there, other than gardens obviously!

Dinky-Hope the family improves soon...otherwise I'd trade them in
On the dummy front...I will not hesitate to use a dummy if it makes my life and Niamh's more pleasant!! I had real problems with colic with DS and I was loaned a book called 'The womanly art of Breastfeeding'which is a LLL book. In it they actually recommended the use of a dummy in order to stop you being permanently attached to a sucky baby either by boob or pinkie finger!! For those who choose to use BF as a means on contraception...you should be aware that use of dummy reduces safety margin!

Have the soarest boob ever...not nip but actual boob! Don't think its mastitis but will be checking closely in the morning to make sure so that I can get AB quickly if needed! I've made Niamh feed off that side the last 2/3 feeds so hopefully draining it complete;y will help

chilledmama · 13/03/2009 22:36

I was about to write...haven't seen swampster for a while...is she alright...but there you are...safe and sound!!

swampster · 13/03/2009 22:41

I just watch you guys and learn... I think congratulatory and sympathetic thoughts but I'm mostly too tired to post them.

LittleMissNorty · 13/03/2009 23:20

Awwww I'm sat here cuddling my LO just that little bit tighter than normal....been watching CR and have been bored all evening but Davina's report on all those babies and new mum's has me in floods . I'm so lucky....

chilledmama · 13/03/2009 23:34

we all are very lucky; the development of antenatal care significantly reduced mortality rate in Europe/North America...sad isn't it...don't get me wrong...I think the sticking plaster of charity donations is a wonderful thing but doesn't solve underlying problems in majority of African countries...i.e toxic leadership.

rosieposey · 14/03/2009 00:28

Yup ive been watching CR too and saw the Davina report and how its 8000 something against 8 mortality wise in childbirth omg wasnt that the saddest thing whilst you held your baby close?

It does make you realise how lucky we all are and how i dont want to knock the nhs for all the magnificent care that we have all been given... im very humbled tonight.

chilledmama · 14/03/2009 00:33

i've just uploaded a few pics to my profile page...

nkweto · 14/03/2009 00:34

the traditional first greeting to a new mother in the country where my mum's family comes from is 'you have survived' and it is not said lightly... we are very lucky.. and i too have sobbed my way through CR.. cuddling my (now huge looking) LO..

swampster .. i am loving the Lido idea.. what do others think ?

chilledmama.. massage your breast and hot showers.. hope it doesnt feel anyworse tomorrow..right..must sleep now.. i am up much too late...

nkweto · 14/03/2009 00:35

chilledmama.. looks like your DS1 LOVES being the big bro !! what lovely photos.. i love the one of them snuggled up together..

chilledmama · 14/03/2009 00:44

feeling quite smug really...he really is a complete sweetheart!

nkweto · 14/03/2009 00:46

feel the 'smugness' .. it is lovely to see...

rosieposey · 14/03/2009 02:36

For posterity im posting in the middle of the night even though DH was doing the night feeds tonight its ended up being me cause he was way too sleepy!

Pempe · 14/03/2009 03:25

Hello everyone - missed Comic Relief, living out here. Was it any good? Sounds as if it might have been boring/humbling.
We're having a good night fed at 8.30, 12.30 and 4.30. That's a record for us
Need our beauty sleep though, we're off to church in the morning to have the traditional 40 day blessing

jenniferturkington · 14/03/2009 04:11

whoever came up with the phrase 'sleeping like a baby'?! I've been up with Harriet for an hour now- long feed, nappy, sick all over baby gro so change of outfit, therefore now wide awake but not hungry! DS will be up at 6... herb you are right, deffo the best contraception!

jenniferturkington · 14/03/2009 04:16

pempe I quite enjoyed CR- french and saunders doing Mamma mia was v good, as was James corden (sp?) with the england footy team. However i have to admit, I turned over through all the reports- I'm far too hormonal to cope- I'd be a sobbing wreck.

.

SomeMightSay · 14/03/2009 08:17

Morning. I wasn't around at 3am because like I'd hoped dp ot up to feed. Yay
I have just finished that dreaded pile of ironing too which is a whole weight off! Not doing to much today.
We watched CR, and I was in tears watching that little boy slip into the Malaria coma that he wouldn't wake from and the filming from his funeral. I realy really wanted to donate a fiver, but really don't have a penny to spare. They raise a shit load though didn't they?
I stayed up just to watch Oasis but was quite disappointed. Thought most of the night was quite funny though.

KT1983 · 14/03/2009 10:28

Thanks SMS for tips. Ive been giving her gaviscon for a few days now & it seems to be working. We are ff her, so might ask about a different milk? do you remember the name of it? As I dont feel sure I want to keep giving her gaviscon every feed. Esp at the moment, as she is having milk every 3 3.5 hours, and your on;y allowed 6 doeses in 2hours of Gaviscon.

My washing machine has been on overdrive the last week for all the changes of babygrows.
I just feel so sorry for her when she is sick, as there is soooo much of it, and I cant do anything to help

Best go, got a crying baby to see too

have a good Saturday everyone xx

PinkTulips · 14/03/2009 12:15

aaron has puked on me 5 times so far today... a few of them big ones he's been awake since dd got up at 7.30 and is fairly cranky, feeling pretty grumpy myself now. dp didn't get up with the kids til i started storming about having my shower... so much for my lie in eh?!

he's taking the kids to town to buy my birthday present now tbh, would prefer he'd leave it the mood he's in, they're only going to come home cranky and shouting at each other and he'll have grabbed whatever pieces of crap he's standing in front of when he loses his temper and decides to go home.

on the plus side i bought aaron new dummies and he actually likes them which is great as it makes things a little easier when he's in that 'i want to feed but i'll puke if i eat more' frame of mind, it also means the odd time i leave him with dp for 20 mins to do something or have a shower i won't have to come back to him screaming like i have so far.... makes me feel really guilty having a shower when i know he's down there screaming.

MS, sorry your scar is acting up. you cs ladies are really suffering.... just goes to show it's really not the easy option by a long shot is it? hope it heals quickly with the ab's and you got a quiet night last night.

he's just fallen asleep in his bouncer [phew!] it's very funny as he has his hands stuck straight up in the air in front of him... no idea how he sleeps like that!
