Sorry to hear about your accident, but as others have said, its good you are all ok. Its just a shock isn't it. I had an accident when DD (now 9!) was a few months old, a car smashed into the back of me writing my car off. I had terrible nightmares about DD being hurt, crawling over broken glass etc. She was fine htough

Re co-sleeping, I've read that BF mothers naturally sleep in a protective position when they co-sleep. Iam co-sleeping and we lay tummy to tummy as we both fall asleep as he feeds in the night . If I lay on my left side, for example, my left arm will be under my pillow, under my head IYKWIM and my right arm will be holding my boob (I always worry I'll smother him with a large nork. I know its rubbish, but I still hold the nork as I feed!). I find that I NEVER change position when I sleep now and wake up in exactly the same position I fell asleep in which I've been told is very common in co-sleeping BF mothers. I have one of those things on teh side of the bed to stop baby rolling out (not htat he can roll yet, but you know what I mean!)

CSWS - can you link me to the fb page and I'll join it? Unless it says MN in the title, don't want RL to know I'm an MNer

MamaG · 05/03/2009 09:31

(CSWS is it easy to set up a fb page? DH wants me to set one up for him but I don't know how)

star6 · 05/03/2009 10:02

LOL re: healthy eating award. No WAY! I have such alimited range of things I like to eat... although most are not unhealthy, I still think I need to get loads more essential nutrients in my diet.

purpleflower · 05/03/2009 10:20

I just requested t6o join the face book page, hope thats ok.

DD almost threw herself out of a bouncy chair yesterday, she sat herself up and then tipped forward. Luckily I caught her in time

My cousin who is like my sister is in hospital at the moment, her waters have broken at 33 weeks and she may need to be induced today dependent on a blood test. I was at hers until almost 1am this morning looking after her boys so I'm shattered now.

21lb I may get DD weighed if I have time this afternoon, she not that big though.

Must go, I'm supposed to be meeting some mumsnetters very very soon and I'm not even dressed yet

Morning everyone.

CC, Horrible experience for you and your friend but thankfully you are all ok.

William wet through his night clothes and his beding in his cot this morning. 4.30am. So I took him into bed with me. What a nightmare. He wiggles, he snores. I had stereo snoring from DH as well. The most beautiful part was DS fell asleep with his little hand curled around my cheek.
I am full of admiration for all of you that co-sleep. I really dont think I could cope with the lack of sleep.

Now I am in the market for a new pram/pushchair. Can I ask what every one else is using. I know this has been done a few times already but skin flinty DH said no new pram. He even told me not to go out and just buy a new one!! What am I supposed to use instead. William is just over 15lb's I can manage him in the sling for a little while but not to and from school etc!!

Hope everyone is well this morning.
Raining here

MamaG · 05/03/2009 12:18

Ronshar I've got a pliko. Its good for walks on rough ish ground and nice and spacious for the baby. Got it second hand from ebay.
I was out with DS1 once and his pram broke - it was a Britax and I'd only had it a week! I couldn't let go of hte handles as when I did, the weight of DS1 (who was coming up to age 2) made it try to fold itself up! Ihad to send my 6 year old DD over a busy road to knock on a friend's door for help! It was awful. Iwas standing at the side of the road screeching "go DD, keep walking, quickly now buyt don't run!"

Well, he was weighed and is now 22lb 7oz

myjob why are you dreading clinic? Because your DD is small? My DS1 was really little - we had to have him checked over he was so small. In the end they concluded that he is just naturally thin. He actually looked dreadful, really skinny and now, will be 5 on Saturday, and is thin as a rake but very healthy and full of energy. He Never Sits Still. Ever. He eats more than DD who is 9 and is just naturally a skinnoid. It is worrying though, I used to fret every clinic day for the HV's frowns (if thats not why you are dreading clinic: ignore me )

Honeymoonmummy · 05/03/2009 13:12

CC ? I?m glad you and Ryan OK.

CSWS ? I go into home, then groups (on RH side). I could ask my friend with newborn if she wants Amby, how much do u want for it?

Hedgepig, I also find I don?t move from the same position when I co-sleep. But you could get one of these? You can take one side off with Velcro when feeding ,then put it back on?

Mama G, once you join it will probably say ?Mama G has joined?? but if you click to the right of this you can delete it. I think you can also change your settings so no info is ever published about your groups. I also have another MN name under another email so if anyone in RL asks me I can give that, nothing embarrassing on that name!!! Re setting up page, do u mean setting up new group? I?ve never done it but you go into Groups then at top right click create a new group.

Talking of embarrassing ? I?m not sure why I?m sharing this as you all know my real name, but managed to get Veet on my nipple this morning!!! I was aiming south in case you were wondering!! Cue lots of scrubbing!!!

Clinic later ? wish me luck!!

Mama G pram nightmares. Mine was a Silver cross. It was 4 years old so not unexpected.
22lbs. Crikey. I am going to get DS weighed tomorrow, its been some time and I may get frowned upon if I leave it much longer

Veet HMM, do you have hairy nipples? I know we share alot here but really

Honeymoonmummy · 05/03/2009 15:40

CSWS you might want to delete your FB post, it's a bit revealing.

Ronshar, I KNEW someone would think that, that's why I put the south comment!!

Poppy has put on 4oz yay!

pepperrabbit · 05/03/2009 16:10

ronshar - I last went to the clinic on 6th Dec to have DD weighed (am I winning?!) I really feel I ought to go if only so when she looks at her book in years to come she doesn't think I didn't care! I just don't have time to worry about it, but I guess she may not see it that way.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/03/2009 16:14

You've lost me hmm - which fb post? Do you mean the link to the group? It should only be 'revealing' to members of the group shouldn't it? Will get dh to test when he comes downstairs.

Honeymoonmummy · 05/03/2009 16:18

No, it shows your name!

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/03/2009 16:22

He's tested hmm, and as I thought, it is not revealing at all .

Hello
Sorry been busy busy, I have read but not posted yet so do know where you all are!

Sorry about your accident Cc thats scary!

All ok here but DD1 faffing with her tea and not listening to me it drives me mad!

Got DD1 new car seat today, next stage up half price too with pink spots...fab!

Will catch up later as DD1 clearly not eating

CherryChoc · 05/03/2009 18:09

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. We have had a lazy day today which has been nice. I am in conflict though as to whether or not to replace the car seat. DP thinks I am being silly and that it was probably only about as bad an impact as an emergency stop, and thinking about it, it probably was and I am wanting to replace it less today but am wondering whether I should. Does anyone know what the official advice is and can they link me to it? I can't think where to look.

Hedgepig, he doesn't lie on my arm, but I do put my arm straight out so he can't wriggle up under the pillows. Then I bring my upper knee over his legs to stop him wriggling down. Picture on my profile with the arm position. I find I get achey as well so we started putting him into the bedside cot for the start of the night, then I bring him in for a feed and usually fall asleep. If he is being particularly wriggly he goes back into the cot after a feed though!!

Myjob I am not looking forward to next time I go to clinic either. I had to take Ryan to A+E once before and got a follow-up call from my HV (sounding very patronising and accusatory) so am expecting one again. However have missed my local clinic this month as was at the hospital - so that will give me 2 weeks until I can go to the next closest one and by then Ryan will be 23 weeks so if they start bugging me to start weaning I won't mind so much!

CherryChoc · 05/03/2009 19:06

Oh and buggies - I have got the Loola Up and I love it The only thing I don't like is I could probably fold it with one hand but wouldn't be able to lift it up and put it into a luggage rack one-handed, so not very good for the bus. It's also not very easy to take up and down stairs if it is in the parent-facing position because the second person has to reach right under the seat to find anything to hold onto. But then, I don't know whether other buggies suitable for small babies do this.

I like that there is no need for a carrycot as it lies flat, and there are hooks on the handles to hang extra bags on, and it is fairly lightweight too - and I like how you can reverse the seat for summer and winter and it can be parent-facing or forward facing, there is a nice reclined position for this age as well where they are starting to look around.

Honeymoonmummy · 05/03/2009 20:40

When I click on that link CSWS I get your name and a sample of your friends. You may be seeing something different on your PC because of cookies or something, I don't know. I've tried it several times and always get the same.

Marthasmama · 05/03/2009 20:49

Evening, I've just checked the link via DH's log on and it would appear that unless you are a member of the group, no names appear.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/03/2009 20:58

myjob has been doing some testing for me ladies, and it seems to make a difference whether you are logged in to facebook when you click it or not. I've asked for it to be deleted just in case. Thanks.

Honeymoonmummy · 05/03/2009 21:00

X-post

aubergenie · 05/03/2009 21:14

This MN/FB thing is completely confusing me. I'm already struggling to keep up.

Ronshar - I've got a Bugaboo Bee, and although it's definitely a light, nippy, city buggy, to be honest I think it's very overpriced and you're paying for the name. It's very tricky to fold and you certainly can't do it one-handed. It does do front and rear facing though and that was important to us.

It was a lovely spring day today - I went to a city farm today with another friend and her baby. The babies showed no interest whatsoever in the animals, but the cafe was nice!

A question: What do you clean your babies' ears with? S has got quite waxy ears and it's not coming out with a sponge as it's quite sticky. Any tips?
