Morning,

DOG i hope you have a better day today. I know how you feel, i get days, more often than not, when i feel like a bad mum

Hkz i am glad you found a better toddler group The ones with the old ladies can annoy so much, i know thay are just being nice but you just want to tell them to leeaave you alone because they fuss so much!

Moose and Books; 34JJ and 34K I have been moaning about my 34C cups that have appeared since having the implant! I miss my B cups I can't even begin to image what anything bigger would be like?

Had a better night. Finley had a feed at 7pm, then at 9pm had another ounze just to settle him and he went off to sleep. I had kept him awake since 3pm so he was tired. He still woke at ten to one for a feed, he had about 7oz and finished that at 1.30am and then didn't want to settle in his moses basket but i was so tired and decided he has to learn to settle himself. So i put him in, turned out the light and held dp tight. Finley grizzled for a bit then went off to sleep.

He then woke at half 4 and i made a bottle but he didn't want it, he just kept falling asleep in my arms and when i put him back to bed, he would wake up and grizzle. I decided he just wanted a cuddle but was mean and left him in his basket. I figured if he was tired enough to sleep on me then he was tired enough to sleep in his own bed. So left him and he went to sleep, i think i may be on to something...

He then woke at 7.30am and took ages to feed but i was just happy he went from 1am until 7.30am without a feed. So i have my feed times worked out for the day so i will have to see how they pan out

Sparkle that sounds like great progress. Brilliant that he settles after little whinge too. Whenever I try that, my LO just ratches it up and up until he's in total meltdown!

MM LOL at moby wrap looking like you'd stuffed LO down a crossover top! They seem to be really common amongst the yummy mummy contingent here in North London. I've been using my baby bjorn more than my moby wrap actually - not so hot!

ray I was a bit scared too about getting back in the saddle, so to speak, but we took it very carefully - I can't say it was the best fun I've ever had, but was glad to overcome my anxiety about it. I'm sure it will get back to normal eventually!

MASSIVE boobies here too - 32G - am really hoping they won't be too floppy afterwards. Hopeful as my Mum still has great boobs and she BF 3 kids.

Spent the evening at a friend's house having dinner - I had hoped that Nye would stay asleep in the car seat when we got there, but no chance - he was wide awake. Luckily he was in a great mood and was utterly charming. Now we've both woken up with stinking colds - poor LO is all snuffly and has the most pathetic little cough you've ever heard.

OH back late tonight, can't wait! I have changed every nappy for four days straight, phew!

heron22 · 19/03/2009 10:49

hi sparkle sounds to me like you had a good night. about the grizzling, i let my LO grizzle until he puts himself to sleep. my LO is now 9 weeks and i have noticed that he sometimes would complain if i put him down before he is fast asleep. it is important that they learn to go to sleep on their own otherwise when they wake up in the night, they will look for you to put them to sleep!

after a full feed, burp, change nappy, he should have no reason to cry. when that happens to my LO, i go check on him to make sure he is ok, pat him to let him know i am there and i dont pick him up. i let him settle himself. it does seem a bit mean but believe me, as they get older, if they are used to having you as a prop for falling asleep, life will become very hard!

this is just what i do, i did the same with my DS1. i love my sleep and i am a better mother when i a rested.

i realise that other mums do other methods. this worked for my first child. and hopefully it will continue to work for my LO.

LenniEd · 19/03/2009 11:36

Squeezing into a 34H or 36GG here but knwo I'm going to have to brave another trip out for a bra fitting again soon as these really don't fit. Think I'm more like a J cup. Sounds pretty much average on this thread(!!) but feels enormous and I was a 36E to start with. Rrrayray, many years of having had to lug these things about has taught me that I'll always struggle to find things that fit nicely but bravissimo does some great clothes that fit nicely and if I buy tops/dresses with an empire line they look better than those fitted to my waist.

Sleep will come to them all eventually. Just lots of different ways of getting there.

feedmenow · 19/03/2009 11:51

Am at all the big boobies round here!

And mine have shrunk loads now I've had to stop breast feeding. Just a shame tummy and bum haven't shrunk as quickly!

EachPeachPearMum · 19/03/2009 12:42

32F here, so big, but not too big (only on a 5' frame though)

Had a good day yesterday- ikea run YAy- ds enjoyed looking at all the colours and lights, and I got some nice things for their bedroom, which I want to make into a kind of forest glade... in my head it's lovely not sure what it will turn out like.

Didn't get to post yesterday, and there is so much to take in!
heron / sparkle I always put ds down awake... learnt that with dd... though he likes to have a dummy, so no doubt I will be trying to wean him off that for months when he's a toddler.

hkz laughing at your description of dp snoring one side, ds the other, farting away- yes... they're very noisy aren't they? Mine is a snorter- like a little piggy while he re-settles himself (ds not DH!)

We have a Kari-me which I like, but haven't got in the swing of using with ds yet...need to get on with it, especially now weather is so gorgeous- the pram is just so huge, and it's nice to just pop out into the garden for a bit.

We had dd's parents' evening at nursery which was mostly lovely- she doesn't play with other children enough- not in an autistic sense... in a boss them around and think you're an adult sense ... but we are working on it.

DS then slept from 8:30 until 7 am couldn't believe it... but I woke in agony- breasts so full and sore- at 5 I woke and moved position because I was full, but then I have cricked my neck because I was in a funny position. I have a horrible red, hot patch on my right breast that I'm trying to massage away.

Because of the marathon sleep- I needed to express, so wasn't paying enough attention to dd who then fell whilst clowning around on our bed, and she has grazed all her abdomen - she howled, poor thing- she rarely gets injuries, as she's too self- contained for fooling around physically most of the time.
She the missed a walk to the park with nursery,a s we were so late getting there, so she howled about that too, oh dear.

Right, ds is napping again (I think it's his cold wearing him out tbh) so lunch is calling me. Oh Joy! Soup again

EachPeachPearMum · 19/03/2009 12:45

hkz what size are you? You're welcome to have my wedding dress... it was from monsoon- silk, 2 piece -long floor length skirt and strapless top and I'm unlikely to want to wear it again. It's not very 50s retro though...

moosemama · 19/03/2009 13:23

books 34K is where I was with DS2. If I'm honest the 34JJ are a tad snug but I'm in denial!

I had an oops! moment this morning. The dogs' scullcap and valerian pills arrived so I duly administered the dosage it said on the bottle, then half an hour later noticed you are supposed to split it into a morning and evening dose! Poor thing hasn't left her bed since! Ah well at least she's calmed down, just hope it doesn't wear off before bed time tonight.

hkz · 19/03/2009 13:48

EPPM- That's very kind of you... I am a size 12 on a good day, with fair sized boobs! (34dd when not bf) Am hoping to go for a not too wedding dressy sort of look iyswim, but love all the monsoon stuff.
Just had a quick peak in a vintage clothing shop down the rd and they were charging £200 for vintage wedding dresses I thought i would be able to nab a bargain for around £50
at dc's marathon sleep...oh to sleep for more than 3 hours in one go!

Agree with everyone about not putting dc down asleep, its so much easier when they settle themselves and i too like my sleep too much!

Just got back from taking ds to osteo in angel, he is super relaxed now and farting away like theres no tomorrow. Had sushi for lunch after all the talk of it on this thread and ended up buying the dcs some cute stripey pjs from green baby (there goes my monthly budget again)
Am completely knackered!

moosemama · 19/03/2009 14:04

hkz have you looked on ebay? They usually have lots of wedding dresses and there is a vintage clothes section as well.

EachPeachPearMum · 19/03/2009 14:08

hkz- it was very plain, and simple... but a 10/12 rather than a 12/14 I'm afraid... I was 32C in those days

ebay is a good idea though- if you can find time to sieve through, there's usually something great lurking.

heron22 · 19/03/2009 15:04

since i stopped giving my LO breast at night, my milk supply is steadily going down.

any ideas on how i can increase it without doing night feeds?

EachPeachPearMum · 19/03/2009 15:26

get baby to suckle is best way... or express- both of which will stimulate milk supply.

LenniEd · 19/03/2009 15:55

Those of you who've bf before - what did you go back down to on the bra front?

Squauking coming from carrycot... back later..

heron22 · 19/03/2009 16:14

hi eppm my LO has breast at 7am. after that i express every 3 hours. after his 7am feed, he has EBM for his 11am feed and then it is SMA because my milk just isnt enough. i express every 3 hours during the day and this makes up the EBM for the next day's 11am feed.

basically i get about 200 mls from expressing every 3 hours during the day. so not much milk.

so i wonder if there is anything else i can do/take to increase milk supply?

MsSparkle · 19/03/2009 16:16

Hello,

heron22 i absolutly agree with you. I always let my dd settle herself although she was a great sleeper when a baby and still is. She was sleeping through by 8 weeks and has always slept from 7.30pm until 8am (bliss.) She always goes to bed well too which is lovely. Ds seems to be very different though, he likes a cuddle. Must be just us women that are no hassle and tough

hkz · 19/03/2009 16:22

Mssparkle- Your dd sounds like mine and so does your ds sleepwise... its a shock to the system!

MsSparkle · 19/03/2009 16:43

It is a big shock to the system! When ds who is now 9 weeks, got to around 7 weeks, i was hoping he would follow in dds footsteps but hasn't. I think because with dd, i didn't know what i was doing and just accepted the night feeds and then one day they suddenly stopped and i wasn't expecting it. With ds though i keep thinking is tonight going to be the night? I shouldn't think like that because it's disappointing! He is contented otherwise and has never been a difficult babyall round.

I saw my friend today who had a baby girl yesterday morning. She is 7lb 12 and is tiny! My ds was 9lb 8 so i feel deprived of a tiny newborn. She is lovely though and she makes my ds who is only 9 weeks look massive!

moosemama · 19/03/2009 18:00

hkz you about? If you are interested you have until 8.00 tonight to go for this one on ebay - think its 50s ish the bow and train certainly fit the theme. There do seem to be a few different styles around from that era though:

8.00 tonight

also

much more definitive 50s style

The rockabilly swing dress style is what I think of when I hear the 50s mentioned. It may be worth your while doing a search for 'rockabilly dress' on ebay.

I bought myself a rockabilly dress off ebay to attend a friends wedding last year (frustratingly I can't seem to find the details of which seller it was though) and they sized it to order. It wasn't expensive either. Perhaps if you check out which of the ebay people makes the dresses to order you could ask them if they would make an extra special one for your wedding. You can also get the net petticoats either vintage or made to order on ebay.

You'd never guess I've been avoiding the housework this afternoon!

moosemama · 19/03/2009 18:07

There are quite a few Monsoon dresses in size 12 for sale as well this one is brand new with tags as the lady who is selling it is now pregnant and can't wear it.

moosemama · 19/03/2009 18:11

I started out looking for a dress for myself as inspiration to lose my extra weight.

Not a wedding dress (been there, done that), but something special. I am going to a party in the summer to celebrate the marriage of a couple of friends who now live and got married abroad. Thing is, all our old uni mates will be there and I am huge compared to when a lot of them last saw me. I really don't want to look all old, fat and mumsy so need to get fit, lose 2 stones and find a fantastic dress to wear. (Actually I would be happy if I just lost 1 stone, but I think it would be possible to lose the 2 if I really made the effort.)

moosemama · 19/03/2009 18:19

This lady does rockabilly/swing dresses. I think she makes them herself, might be worth asking if she could make one for you if you like the styles she does. She has 100 percent feedback on 98 sales at the moment.

Ok I'll stop now. Dog with a bone I am once I get started!

elkiedee · 19/03/2009 18:47

Hi all

hkz, I love Green Baby stuff but it is on the expensive side - we go to the branch at the Angel because dp works near there. We bought ds2 two of their posh baby blankets as ds1 is still quite attached to the ones we got for him.

On toddler and baby groups, I found something today saying there's a "One O'Clock Club" every weekday afternoon in Clissold Park, have you ever been to that one or is it too far from you?

We had a manic day today - our childminder had the day off to go to a wedding so dp took the day off, so C and I went to the breastfeeding support group, mum picked us all up to go to IKEA to buy a chest of drawers for dcs' room (currently only ds1 but they will have to share it at some point), we had lunch there and came home, then my dad came to visit and we went to the local park (my parents divorced just after I was born, mum lives in Yorkshire, dad lives 30 minutes walk from us in London). Milk monster has been feeding on and off a lot of the day from the very early hours, so I'm quite tired. He drops off on his feeding cushion but wakes up as soon as I put him down.

hkz · 19/03/2009 18:56

Moose - You star! You have been avoiding the house work haven't you? I absolutely LOVE the sarah m designs ones, that's exactly the sort of style I am looking for and the colours are fab. I am going to email her now! yay! You have hopefully saved me trapsing round the shops
