fym - that must've really freaked you out -glad all well. i am constantly worrying about dropping catherine in a really neurotic way (though as i am quite clumsy i guess it's not that neurotic)

Hi all, can't stop as wiped out after big journey to a Christening. My dd2 has done 500 miles in 2 weekends!! Good going!!

Trying an ambinest tonight after a very bad weekend for wind, and ordering proobiotics for her.

Hope you have recovered fym. Hope all had/having good weekends. x

Oh new pics on profile

fymmumoftwo · 16/03/2009 07:01

jamie was fine - it took a G&T to sort me out.... he won't be left on the floor to kick again....

Just one of those silly things, my mobile rang and I went to answer it and forgot he was there laying on the floor he was just having nappy off time prior to bath.

EachPeachPearMum · 16/03/2009 07:36

Oh fym- thats scary- glad he's ok, even if mummy is shaken.

Yes, sounds like a busy weekend for everyone! We've been out socialising left right and centre, with the result that any kind of a routine that we were beginning to get into has been shot to pieces! I took him out to dinner last night, the idea being that he would fall asleep in the car on the way there, and then I could just bring the car seat in with me - but of course he wakes up once the environment changes, having had a nice 'nap', and is then awake for hours! But charmed everyone...

But forgot to say, he has chosen this weekend (when I really wanted to show him off) to develop cradle cap around his forehead and eyebrows! Poor little man, it is all crusty - tried applying warmed olive oil last night before his bath, and then rubbing gently in the bath with the baby sponge, and that really helped, but this morning it is all dry and flaky again - is it worth taking him to docs or will it just clear up eventually?

ray Yes, I heard that sushi is fine to eat during BF as any bacteria that might cause food poisoning would just make us sick, not LO... I think most things are back on the menu, soft and blue cheese included, but not 100% where I got this info from. Does anyone know different? (Planning on a big hunk of stilton for lunch!)

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 16/03/2009 09:42

morning sounds like everyone had a fab wknd
how are people babies feeding?
bracken is 2 months today still feeds 2 hourly and has 2 ozs have tried to get her 2 go 3hrly still has 2 ozs.
started off having 3 ozs 3 hourly a week ago for 4 days then stopped

rrrayray · 16/03/2009 09:44

missJ i picked up a cradle cap shampoo from sainsbubrys to have in the house for when Esme gets it. she hasnt yet. it called detinox or something? its suposed to be mild enough to use as a daily shampoo too! Recommended by a friend.personally I'd try that before taking him to the doctors.

Yay for green light for stinky cheeses and sushi. i have been avoiding orange juice, but i think any juices, and smoothies seem to upset her bottom! Hmmmm. So water water water it is for moi! Boo!

heron22 · 16/03/2009 10:49

so much to catch up
morning all, it is a gorgeous day today!

have a goodday all!

fymmumoftwo · 16/03/2009 10:53

missj - get dentinox - works very well, I used it on DS1

moosemama · 16/03/2009 12:19

Morning all,

DD has come down with another cold right on the back of the first one! She was really snuffly and restless all night although she seemed to sleep thought it (I didn't).

She has also got a sticky eye - so looking gorgeous at the moment.

Not sure whether I should take her for her 8 week immunisations tomorrow as she is really not herself.

I got some Weleda Baby Calendula oil when DD was born as her skin was dry. She started to develop a bit of cradle cap and had really dry skin around her eyebrows but one application of the oil sorted it out no problem.

Spent Saturday afternoon at Mum's house. She was amazed at how big DD had got as she hadn't been able to see her for a week and a half.

I have been pretty busy. Yesterday we had the valeters round to give the new car the once over, DH fixed the tumble drier, which resulted in me spring cleaning and reorganising the laundry. Got rid of stacks of stuff and it feels much nicer now its all clean and organised.

This morning I have overhauled the boys bedroom, which was a total disgrace after the weekend, done stacks of washing, been to the local shops, cleaned the kitchen and reorganised a kitchen cupboard.

Must go DD yelling for food.

elkiedee · 16/03/2009 12:36

Hello ladies. May I join you?

Dd3 born 21st Jan so I think I'm in the right place?

She spent 3 weeks in NICU having had surgery at 5 days old, so I'm a few weeks behind with "routine" (what's that????) and stuff, and don't know how much computer (AKA MN) time I'll get but I'll give it a go - support from people at the same age and stage can be invaluable!

Hi there and welcome feedmenow. (Great name and so appropriate at the moment!)

Sorry to hear your LO needed surgery when she was so little. Hope all is well now.

fym glad all was ok with Jamie. We've all done something daft with our LOs at some point (I let DS1 flop face forward in the bath when he was tiny - it was only a second but seemed longer and he was absolutely fine too, I still don't know how it happened but I blame sleep deprivation. )

books don't know the valeters name or number unfortunately. DH was put onto them from a guy who advertises on Solihull Online as he was too booked up to get our car done this week and we want to go away in it next weekend. It had to be done as my not so clever DH managed to buy a car that had obviously been owned by a heavy smoker and I refused to let DD go anywhere in it until the smell was removed, what with her apnea episode, the risk association with SIDS and cigarette smoke and the whole newborns in car seats issue, I didn't want to risk it. (To be fair DH had a heavy cold when he bought the car and couldn't smell a thing!)

elkie hope your anxiety lessens. Please talk about it with us. I suffer from anxiety too and find letting it out seems to loosen its grip on me iyswim. We are all here for you.

DD has just had me in stitches chatting away earnestly to a frog and monkey her brothers have suspended from her swing's mobile. She's having a whale of a time.

I have just scoffed a load of really garlicky pasta tomato and basic parcels and sauce for lunch. Was yummy but I'd better not breathe on speak to any Mums on the school run today.

Spink · 16/03/2009 13:45

feedmenow hello! blimey it sounds like you had a tough start, really hope things are evening out now.. (were you on the antenatal thread, I recognise your name - if so - hello again )

tree you make lovely little ones!! good work. I'm glad to say that energetic boob massage shifted my red patch and tho still a bit sore today, think I've nipped it in the bud (budded it in the nip? who knows)

books glad you're having a better day. I'm having a worse day.. maybe we've swapped?! ds has spent all morning practising his screaming and dd, bless her, tried to compete. My eardrums have given up hope and gone on holiday to the Caribbean. I've speed-eaten a packet of jaffa cakes in the last 10 mins while the dcs are both asleep..

elkie how did playgroup go? good on you for going in spite of the anxiety

missj we found olive oil (like you're using it) worked best. What made it even more effective was gently combing with a little plastic comb when the oil had been on for 10 or so mins and softened the skin, it loosens the flakes brilliantly. We actually tried Dentinox first and it didn't help so I guess it is horses for courses (or whatever that phrase is - do you find when you start to repeat something to yourself over and over it stops making sense? oh lord I am off to get more jaffa cakes)

moosemama · 16/03/2009 13:58

Tomato and basil - not basic! Sorry didn't have time to preview, phone was ringing.

btw Tree your girls are beautiful.

Ooooh Jaffa Cakes! They always hit the spot, go for it Spink. I can feel another trip to the local shop coming on! Glad you managed to ward off the mastitis.

feedmenow · 16/03/2009 14:33

Thank you for the welcome!

Dd3 doing OK - needs meds for the time being and have a couple of consultant appts coming up soon.

Books, dd1 is 10 in May, ds is 7 and dd2 was stillborn last March.

As well as 3 weeks with dd3 in NICU I have had mastatis, nipple thrush and a bacterial infection on my nipple so I have now sadly given up breast feeding - anyone else on formula or are you all persevering with the breast?

And anyone got a routine going? If so, tell me how!!!

EachPeachPearMum · 16/03/2009 15:22

another vote for dentinox... olive oil made dd's worse.

EachPeachPearMum · 16/03/2009 15:30

Hi feedmenow- welcome!
Spink- glad breasts are feeling better...

very boring domesticy day today- batch cooking while ds sleeps- chicken and mango casserole and huge vat of pasta sauce.
Went to the bank... it took 50 minutes to open a savings account for ds, despite having an appointment so slow!

LenniEd · 16/03/2009 16:25

So much happened that I'm going to have to catch up in a couple of goes! We have had a weekend away in Solihull! DH and I really enjoyed it, we are going to holiday in Solihull more often! Loads to do with the DCs and DH's family nearby so did lots of visitng.

Miss J - We have a CRV, just got it when DS a week old and absolutely love it. It is the EX one and fab on our track up to the house, plus has all round parking sensors so I can actually park in the narrow spaces at our local supermarket and still get the car seat out. It is great for DD too as she is high up so can see out well and doesn't get as restless in the car. I don't agree with all the city 4x4s but being as we live on a remote farm we need one and it was one of the more fuel efficient ones.

EPPM/HKZ - We got married in the Seychelles, was very romantic and much cheaper than having a big white wedding. We couldn't afford a nice honeymoon and a big wedding so went for wedding abroad plus a party when we got home. Got to wear my dress twice too!

Cradle cap - DD suffered really badly. Olive Oil was rubbish - also second Dentinox - but in the end got cream from GP for it - cortisone maybe?? Have put some of DD's Hydromol emollient on DS's and that has cleared it quickly. Think you can buy that over the counter, or DoubleBase. The best thing for it according to an asian friend is to shave their hair and then the skin gets the air, but I couldn't bear to do that. Muslim babies have their heads shaved as a ritual after birth, I went to see my friends sister's baby have his done, it was a proper ceremonial thing, really lovely.

Tree - cream teas too! What a wedding. Sounds immaculately planned.

All these lovely Mothers Day ideas... must go and look.

Welcome feedmenow... where have I met you before??

Arthritis update isn't good news, fingers losing a bit of function and knees painful. Am expressing and freezing 12oz a day just in case it gets worse.

On the plus side though DS slept 10pm - 5.30am last night... I woke every hour to check on him though sleep is for the weak!!

LenniEd · 16/03/2009 16:37

Oh and MM - I too wish we'd had the bedside cot for DD - aren't they fab? I love ours.

How did you go on with the Amby last night Tree?

Right, off to play piano with DD for some finger exercise. Yay!
