hey guys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FrazzledFairyFay · 02/03/2009 04:21

Thanks.

Daisy, sorry to hear it's flared up again, any news on when he op might be?

Jammy, no ideas about jamlet's spots I'm afraid, but if they're still there in the morning, I'd definitely take her to the GP

Butterfly and Ria, sorry to hear about poorly DCs

And Ria, I don't think I ever said, well done to our Dh for getting that other job. It sounds like he is well overdue some good news on the job front

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 02/03/2009 06:41

Absolutely spot free this morning! Baby clear skin. So maybe it was a heat rash? Maybe something she ate? Who knows! As my DSis just sais children are complicated creatures! But looks like we are going to work/nursery after all.

Fairy, sorry to hear about your night. Hope you got back to bed fairly quickly. They do pick their times, don't they!

DH comes home today!!!!!

keepingitRia · 02/03/2009 08:28

maybe it was the swimming pool water jammy? the boys can all have really sensitive skin at times, and then not others

sorry for your crap night fairy, and your pains daisy

yay for DH coming back jammy. DM&F back today too

Temple Newsham looks great daisy, we will fit in a visit with a trip to MIL sometime. It looks better than Lotherton Hall. We have free promotion tickets for Castle Howard to use in the next 2 weeks.

My boys were really interested in the lambing on the Victorian Farm programme. Only rarely do I feel that DF is retired. The smell of lambing sheds is one of my favourites. My job was bottle feeding the orphans cos I wasn't old enough to be "hands on". All the farms round here open in time for Easter, so we might take baggins, will have to look out for offers

LackaDAISYcal · 02/03/2009 09:42

arse for your crap night fairy. Bit of a mare here as well. Four feeds for bumble, DD was up twice having bad dreams and I was up twice to throw up and had horrible pain all night. Still really bad this morning and I just want to sleep, but DD has other ideas. DH was going to take the day off work but he has already had time off to look after the kids and then was off last week for his op so I sent him packing. Wish I hadn't though

And our phone has packed in and there is absolutely no food in the house so I need to go and do some shoping so we can have something for lunch and tea.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/03/2009 09:49

glad the jamlet is fine today jammy. DD's skin flares up after the swimming pool and mine can be a bit sensitive to chlorine as well so maybe that's it?

LittleMissNorty · 02/03/2009 13:12

Ahhhhhh.....one asleep in a rocking chair and one strapped into a highchair eating lunch and watching crap Me Too...that woman pisses me right off!

I have been lurking on and off in my sleep-deprived slumber.....

Sounds like you're passing another stone Daisy ....hope it passes quickly....ring DH if you need to....

Well done Ria's DH on new job....that's great news....when does he start?

Blimey Fairy.....am I in for this in 20 months...playing at 3.30am ....you poor thing. The other night we had DD screaming twice, dog twice and DS twice....all at different times of course!

My DS falls asleep during feeding during the day but at night he prefers to stay awake between feeds and squawks if it is not in my arms ....any ideas how to reverse the process?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/03/2009 13:46

Yay, Norty; sounds peaceful. I hope you are doing OK . Not a lot you can do re the going back to sleep at night other than give it time. Bumble was exactly the same for his first weeks. It started to get better from about 8 weeks though (hopes Norty isn't too despondent by that)

Feeling better, but still in pain (masked mostly by cocodamol). I hope this one passes quicker than five days though...either that or gets so completely stuck that they decide to operate now!!

oooh, Jimmy Osmond is on TV singing Long Haired Lover from Liverpool. I loved him when I was little and was determined that I would marry him when I grew up . I'm off to see him in Chicago in a few weeks.... can't wait

bumble is being a grumpy pants this afternoon

FrazzledFairyFay · 02/03/2009 13:50

I'm glad Jamlet is better this morning.

Boo hiss to other non sleeping lo's. Why do they do this to us? .

Norty, don't worry, this is definitely a blip for us, or at least I hope it is. Mostly the both sleep pretty well - so you do, hopefully, have full nights' of sleep on the horizon. No advice on the switching their day/night pattern I'm afraid. DD was a bit of a night-owl, and just seemed to sort herself out eventually.

LittleMissNorty · 02/03/2009 14:21

Ohhh I saw Marty Pellow in Chicago ...he was bloody gorgeous! Richard Gere was such a disappointment!

8 weeks ....fucking hell. Oh well, only another 4 to go ....we're having nightmares with his bum as well......constipation one week and diarrhoea the next...I even rung the HV for advice with his formula as I can't seem to get his poo's right....only does one every other day as well....last night I changed him on my lap (BIG mistake), as I took the nappy off he decided to have a (very liquid) poo and it shot out all over me, my hands.....got him (and me) cleaned up and he done it again....then pissed everywhere, then puked down my trousers....dinner was an hour late....he wore 7 different babygro's yesterday.....Got to ...otherwise I'd cry....well, do plenty of that as well. Little girls don't do things like that....well mine doesn't!

DS was screaming this morning whilst I was trying to dress DD....she got upset and started to cos I was ignoring him. She stood at the door pointing to him and screeching at me. As soon as I got him, she rushed over ad kissed him as if to say "evil cow letting you cry". She didn't seem to realise however, that if she stopped pissing about and got dressed quickly, I'd be able to get him more quickly!

Last rant of the day....fucking BusyBees and work....no childcare voucher AGAIN despite money being taken out of my salary....and Busybees tell me that my work told them Id left and it would take them 48 hours to check and credit my account. Tossers!

Sorry, feel better for that!

Daisy, can you take some anti-inflammatory's as well? My back has gone big-time here and I'm taking the diclofenic prescribed after my section together with paracetamol.

Oh can't wait to sleep all night again....

LittleMissNorty · 02/03/2009 14:24

Did Jimmy sing it in the ridiculously high voice Daisy ? Blimey, I remember that as well.....I used to love the Osmond show

LackaDAISYcal · 02/03/2009 14:32

lol norty, sounds like this house. If DD gets told off, or if I am in shouty mode at DS1, she runs to him for a cuddle, then shoots me evil looks!! Makes me feel like the best parent in the world . she also tells me "bumble crying, hurry up" all the time....like I can't hear him screaming the house down

I can't take diclofenac unfortunately.....it makes me really wheezy and Ibuprofen doesn't quite get to the pain. they gave me buscopan and tramadol in the hospital. The trmamdol is suposed to be one step down from morphine, but didn't even dent the pain. The buscopan is an anti spasmodic that is usually given for IBS and that helped a bit, but it gave me the runs. Then they sent me home with anti-emetics (I wasn't sick once and never complained about nausea ) and paracetomol

keepingitRia · 02/03/2009 14:47

DH has just gone for a fecking lie down . I thought we had an agreement that he didn't take tramadol during the day/when he needed to drive (it's all he can take apart from ...paracetamol)

thanks for the congrats on his job, hopefully starting in a couple of weeks I think, no definate date yet as the company is taking the hotel pver at the end of the current tenancy (I think), then they are closing a a refurb, so DH shouldn't be too full on with it til Easter, though he is starting as soon as they take over, fingers crossed (I will believe it when he starts).

Just filling in time before we collect DS1 from school and go to the station. I went shopping for DM this morning. I really enjoyed just chucking into the basket what I fancied, instead of having to think about the shopping lasting a week, would the kids eat it etc

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/03/2009 15:04

LOL thinking about Jimmy Osmond - I had a big crush on him too. Daisy you're the only other person daft honest enough to admit to liking him. All the cool girls went for Donny. I had a T shirt with Jimmy on it but I fell into a swimming pool wearing it & all the transfer peeled off. I was gutted.

FrazzledFairyFay · 02/03/2009 15:30

pmsl at all you Osmond fans

Norty - DS' bum was something to behold as well. DD used to poo during or after evrey feed, regular as clockwork, no dihorrea or constipation, whereas DS would vere from one extreme to the other - oh yes and the wee-fountain is a bit of a shock after a girl who, at worst, just wets the change mat. I had lots of tears too. It will get better.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/03/2009 16:04

yup norty as someone not long out of the first three months of hell, it'll be over before you know it, even though it feels like forever at the time! I would even go as far as to say we actually have a routine of sorts going on (but I'm whispering that incase I jinx it)

Ate some banana and the pain is back with a vengeance. I fucking hate this Norty, I found this website which might help, bleak though the dietary advice is!!

LittleMissNorty · 02/03/2009 16:36

Excellent website - thanks Daisy....blimey, it does sound pretty bad if even a banana will set it off. Other than labour, it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. It felt like someone was tighteneing a belt around my chest. I was sick plenty when having an attack. But (touch wood) haven't had one since about 32 weeks pg. Next time I am at GPs, I will get re-referred, and just hope by the time the op comes around, we will be coping here!

Amazing isn't it, that its only 20 months since I've done this newborn lark, and its not the first time I've done it - but it seems so much worse this time . Fairy and Daisy....its very comforting to read your experiences, as atm I feel like shit and I'm the only one going through it . This bum thing has really taken me by surprise....DD was so good. As you say, it will get better. DH is being fab and is really cutting me some slack (apart from pestering me for sex ). As he says, it is the last time we'll be doing it .

What time are your parents home Ria? It'll be lovely to see them.....

Right off to find something to feed DD.....

LittleMissNorty · 02/03/2009 16:38

The last time we'll be doing it - meant newborns - not having sex....

well....on second thoughts.....

LackaDAISYcal · 02/03/2009 17:23

what is it with men thinking that we want sex with a newborn baby in the house! Men and women really are made of different stuff!

We still haven't done the deed in it's entirety! Bless DH though, he hasn't pestered me at all. I've made pester noises at him all weekend though and been lewd and libidinous though.

His director came to see him today and said that if he needs time off to look after the kids if I'm not well, then "family comes first" which is a refreshing attitude. He has BUPA through work, but it doesn't kick in till after 6mo service. his boss told him to talk to HR about getting the cover dated from his start date so that I can get the Op done sooner! He's going to talk to HR tomorrow, but I'm not sure it will work like that as they might view it as a pre-existing condition anyway.

Daisy, it's def worth speaking to them about Bupa. When I needed my tonsils out five years or so ago, the firm I worked for put me on their PPP cover a few weeks before I was entitled, and I had the op the next week. It didn't matter that it was a pre-existing condition as their cover didn;t exclude pre-existing conditions. I know it's a different company, and it probably depends what type of cover Dh's firm has, but it's not impossible.

Norty, I know exactly how you feel. A new born is hard, but a newborn/toddler comb feels impossible sometimes. Just keep trying to remember that it does get better, and how nice it'll be in the future that they're do close in age. Mine are now at the stage where they play together (sometimes) and it is lovely.

Bumperslucious · 02/03/2009 18:17

Hello, I will catch up at some point but just marking my place on the thread

Bumperslucious · 02/03/2009 18:31

Just wanted to say norty about LO and sleeping, my friend who has a LO same age as ours and a newborn says that her newborn sleeps happily in a crib or basket in the same room as her and noisy toddler during the day but refuses to sleep in a cot at night. Someone suggested that he likes hearing the hustle and bustle of them all being around in the day, and sleeps better, but feels lonely at night. Maybe you could try co-sleeping?

keepingitRia · 02/03/2009 19:00

they're back and it's is lovely to see them, and they said it didn't matter about the ornament (I think it helped that I burst into tears when I told them it was broken)

and they didn't bat an eyelid about DHs job, just asked if we were OK for money

why do men think their bits will drop off/they will die if they don't get any? weird.

your DHs work sound great daisy.

have you tried soothing music for bedtiome norty?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 02/03/2009 19:07

Good to see you Bumper
Ria - glad your folks are happy with stuff and you're glad to have them back.
Norty & Fairy - sorry about the bad nights.
Hi everyone else!

It's good to have DH back He looked out of the window as we came up the front path tonight and jamlet got excited when she saw him

I fell over this morning (tripped over nothing and badly grazed my knee and ankle

TheNatty · 02/03/2009 20:07
