hey guys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheNatty · 18/03/2009 19:11

daisy have you changed your washing powder or anything? that under armpit thing sounds similar to what i get if DH uses the fabric softner on my underware or bras by mistake. (i have stupidly sensitive skin)

michael brought me home a present last night, this reminds me.
now AIBU to be annoyed that after 6 years together and two married he ALWAYS forgets i am allergic to EVERYTHING and not to buy me strong fragranced/coloured things.
he bought me a bath set, with glitter and strong smells.

now while i appriciate the sentiment, i would have been happier with simple or boots own sensitive skin stuff.

i mean come on! its the only thing i cant have gifts wise, im very easy to buy for!

or am i being ungrateful

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/03/2009 19:22

for illnesses

Tallulah, we had the fabric one for both DCs and I loved it. I second the fact that it's easy to wash and warm on babies' skin. We also had one of the sitting up ones, A BIT LIKE THIS for when they were bigger - again it was a life-saver as it meant I could take my hands off them for a second.

LittleMissNorty · 18/03/2009 19:35

Yep, I also used that blue one when DD was sitting up unaided and kept her going until 12 months when she wanted to stand up and walk around the bath all the time!

Daisy...do you still do the books? Can I have the link please?

Took DS1 into work today...he projectile puked onto the carpet in the tea room ....then I was called home to pick up DD from nursery with a temp of 40 ....will this virus ever go or just see-saw between the 2 of them?

TheNatty · 18/03/2009 19:43

IABU then...

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 19:44

we are such a healthy bunch at the minute aren't we?

poor DD norty, I hope she is better soon.

books. I've not done any admin on it for ages, but it should be self explanatory.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 19:50

natty....it's a man thing, they just don't pay attention and he probably thinks he has done really well for getting you some toiletries.

I asked DH to get me bumble's snowflake fleece yesterday and he brought through DD's fleece jumper....bumbles is white with blue snowflakes on it and is small with a hood and that bobbly type fleece, DDs is red with white snowflakes and is much bigger, has no hood and is microfleece. He has dressed them both in their respective jumpers before, but he just saw snowflakes and grabbed the first thing.....durr! He regularly dresses them in pamjams as well....he just doesn't pay attention cos he is a man.

TheNatty · 18/03/2009 19:56

lol daisy, DH puts tom in things that are far to small and doenst notice his trousers swinging around his ankles!!

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/03/2009 19:57

Dh has, on different occasions, taken DS out in pj bottoms and DD out wearing a pair of DS' trousers which 'he thought were pedal pushers'

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 20:04

pmsl fairy...although respect to your DH; mine wouldn't know what pedal pushers were if they bit him on the nose

How did he survive your trip away?

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/03/2009 20:06

He coped. He did have a bit of help from his aunt and has since admitted that he only made them sandwiches as they went out for a lunch/tea every day .

TheNatty · 18/03/2009 20:08

fairy bless ur DH, sounds just like my hubby

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 20:18

initiative fairy, I like that

Ohforfoxsake · 18/03/2009 20:29

Natty - put toddlers in bath and baby in the sink, or a washing up bowl on the floor.

Interesting about this blotchy, raised rash under the arms, DD2 has it. Dr said it was eczma (I can't spell it), but I'm a bit about it. She's had a cold for a week or so too. Lots of snot, not much else.

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/03/2009 20:33

Natty, only 2 here not 3 but when DS was a baby I often used to bath him alone during the day, with DD's "assistance" and then give her a bath in the evenings while he lay on his activity mat/sat in his chair. I found it by far the easiest way.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/03/2009 20:47

Flip, you've all been chatty today! And again this evening while I've been doing some exercise, having missed the gym this morning because I was at work.

Jamlet only has a bath every other night, so I guess if we ever have another we could alternate them? She HATES showers though. Suspect the fact she only sees them when we are away doesn't help (we don't have one) but the last holiday she screamed at the shower and refuses to go near them at the swimming pool.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 20:54

DD's doesn't look like eczema or any reaction to anything, and no powder changes here anyway.

Probably bumble's viral rash.

TALLULAHBELLE · 18/03/2009 21:05

Thanks for all advice re bath support. Going shopping tomorrow.Natty - DD hops in the shower with me or DH . I just put the plug in & she skiddles about in my 2nd hand soap suds. That passes for a wash around here . Then we bath DT's in the evening, tag team style .However with DH going away I'm looking to do 2 at a time. Think there will be a lot less baths too. Not a bad thing skin wise but it has been good for settling them in the evening.

LittleMissNorty · 18/03/2009 21:30

We hang clothes that "go together" in the wardrobe so DH can dress her if necessary

My two both have a viral rash and a runny nose but no real cold to speak of. DSs rash is definately very blotchy. The doctor on Sat thought he had scarlet fever I think for a while as he was so red. It comes and boody goes as well

I sometimes bath DS first thing if he's been puking all night - and pooing (and I generally ignore him unless he really wants my attention)...

one days washing for DS today was 6 babgro's, 4 vests, 1 cardigan, 5 muslins, 5 bibs, 1 (pink flowery) sleeping bag, 2 blankets, 2 moses basket sheets

LittleMissNorty · 18/03/2009 21:33

bloody I meant.....

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/03/2009 21:33

at newborn washing.

LittleMissNorty · 18/03/2009 21:36

Only 4 babygro's so far today....I put him in a proper outfit this morning and he looked really silly - still a skinny chicken - so put him in the only clean blue babygro - puked all down it as I was carrying him to the car....cue back indoors for a plain white babygro

TALLULAHBELLE · 18/03/2009 21:48

Norty - Thing 1 a puker too. Never had this with DD. Thing 2 spits up a bit but not in nearly the same league. Have you tried Gaviscon with him ? I was going to ask my GP to prescribe some for her see if it helps. She also cries a fair bit & is hard to settle after a feed - think it is reflux & is burning & uncomfortable. I imagine it would be like the pg heartburn & so no wonder the poor wee mite girns so much.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 21:56

norty, I can send you some extra babygros if you like

We have given up changing bumble unless he is realllllly pukey; he just gets a cursory wipe and a rub with some lush dream cream to mask the whiff of stale milk

LittleMissNorty · 18/03/2009 21:57

Mmmmm DS can be difficult to sttle sometimes, and screamed yesterday when he let out a huge fart! He has his 6 week check next week (at 7.5 weeks!) so perhaps I'll speak to the GP or the HV Thanks Tallulah....never really thought about it - just thought it was a boy thing! Or that DD was a lovely very good baby .

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 21:58

norty, have you tried a different formula as well? some formulas make babies pukier than others.

how long is DH going for this time tallulah? Is your mum around to help/support you?
