tallulah, I think you are doing really well to only be giving one bottle of formula in the evening tbh. Have you tired just feeding one in the evening on thhe boob and giving the other a bottle and see if that stimulates your supply a bit, and then maybe you might be able to drop the other bottle finally?

I have just taken over from DS in looking after the poorly velcro baby . When he wouldn't settle earlier that was him for the night. He is obviously in pain (temp a bit raised but nothing too serious, hovering around 37.5-38) and is napping for 15-20 mins at a time and waking up screaming. He's had as much calpol and calprofen as we dare. I have been able to put him down in his chair but he is just sitting looking at me; so sign of going to sleeep at all. I've been waking on and off with a sore throat so it's been a bit of a night of it. Can't see me getting much more sleep between now and morning.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 03:43

oh, and I'll chase tots up tomorrow

TheNatty · 18/03/2009 08:47

daisy did u see my message?

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 10:46

i did natty, but i can't do anything until i get my laptop back up and running as the message was downloaded thhere. Getting it back today though so once i have the software all loaded up again I'll fire a copy off to everyone.

bumble is fine apparently . well the doc couldn't find anything specific and chest, ears, tummy all seem ok. Why is he screamoing the house down every twenty minutes then?????

I've got my dressings off and my skin is in a right old state. Red raw in places with big fluid filled blisters. The wounds themselves have healed beautifully though. bloody mepore!

argh, he was finally asleep again and has just kicked off crying again

TALLULAHBELLE · 18/03/2009 11:29

Butterfly - not sure what you mean with the lying down. Think I need a diagram. Used to be able to feed DD lying down in bed but I had to lie on my side so no use for tandem. Am not blessed in the boobage dept so if was to lie flat DT's would be trying to latch onto a pair of fried eggs - LOL. Also they're too wee atm to sort out own latch, head control not quite up to it yet.

Are you on the forum already? Do you have a snazzy new nickname? Didn'tspot you amongst the members.

Daisy - I got an invite to the forum today even though have already joined. Anyway saw your name there too so if you haven't already checked your e mail... Not sure about the evening feed at all, just seem to have no milk by then, both babies starving but fuss like mad when I try to feed them. They are usually very good feeders so must be me iyswim. Through the night DH gives one an EBM feed whilst I b/f t'other. But he is heading back to Oz soon so that's another worry. Will I just be up ALL night & will my supply keep up? Obv in theory supply meets demand but may take a while to catch up I guess. Enough rambling, I'm off to have shower & brush my teeth whilst all's quiet.

TheNatty · 18/03/2009 12:08

ok daisy just checking, no rush, thought u might have missed it

my new sofas came, and the sun is shinning. what a lovely day

So would they be sort of face down? Rather than side on iyswim. Have been trying rugby hold with pillows or sort of balancing them one on each knee. I kind of know what you mean about the latch (like the breast crawl thingy ?) but their heads wobble about & they lose grip if I don't support them. Tis feeding time at the zoo now anyway so will go & give it a go.

TALLULAHBELLE · 18/03/2009 14:04

BTW - did anyone ever use a bath support with LO's ? Just wondering if any good for bathing DT's and which type would be best. Would it allow me to bath both at once? Or one DT along with DD? this? or this? or fabric? or foam

don't get the deluxe version T....we got that for Em and she slipped off it all the time, so you needed two hands to hold her. It also sits way high up so you need to fill the bath as if for an adult just to cover their knees.

In hindisght we should have bought the fabric one i think...much cheaper anyway.

with bumble we haven't bothered and just put an inch or two of water in the bottom of the bath and let him lie flat. he keeps trying to roll over now though and gets a mouthful of water

ckeck out kellymom for info on tandem nursing and increasing your supply. i had some weleda nursing tea and it was making my normally quite sedate boobs squirt and drip everywhere

how do i find out what the samples are on tots.....it's bloody difficult to navigate round; we don't realise how user friendly MN actually is really.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 14:35

just seen a post from a tallulahbelly...shall we see off the young pretender with pitchforks and baying dogs?

Bloody Tallulahs everywhere .

Thanks for link B - looks like I'll have to get all the neighbours in.

Daisy - I had the exact same trouble, it's hopeless trying to follow a conversation or find a particular message. In the end I posted that I was having trouble navigating & F e mailed me with what's avail for testing. You could just e mail her direct, she said people have the same probs all the time.

LittleMissNorty · 18/03/2009 15:53

Tallulah

We have the fabric one and its fab. I used it for DD as well. It allows you to be hands free - at a certain age - I still need to support DSs head. And I bung it (and him) in K's bath. I was always told that babies love very deep baths so if he is on his own, I fill the baby bsth as seep as I can and lay him on the support and he loves it. Also I do it quite warm!

The other thing with the fabric one is if it gets gungy (or a baby craps on it), it can be taken off its frame and washed.

TALLULAHBELLE · 18/03/2009 17:07

Cheers Norty. Good to know that the cheaper version works well. Especially if I have to buy 2.

TheNatty · 18/03/2009 17:58

T we had a solid mamas and papas one, it was awful because ellen would slide of it all the time.
i never bothered with tom, and wont be this time, although i can see why you would need two hands with two babies lol.
i agree with the others fabric ones are much better, i borrowed a friends one once at her house when ellen projectile vomitted over herself (and me) and having long hair she HAD to be washed. she was about 6 weeks or so, and the support was just right for her.

i will need something this time, i dont know what, but i wont be bathing the baby in with tom this time cos with ellen too its a bit much till baby is sitting unaided.
what do you do others out there with three do? bath the toddlers and then the baby, or bath the baby in a baby bath downstairs, once the others are in bed to get a bit of peace?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/03/2009 18:19

Hi all.
T we had the first of the bath supports you linked to. We got it off ebay though so much cheaper. Had no problems with it.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 18/03/2009 18:43

I always have my babies in the bath with me. It is much easier, though I'm not sure it would work with twins! I always found feeding in the bath was good when feeling a bit engorged. You can feed from one side and hand express into the water from the other. The hot water helps to get the milk flowing and there is nothing like a bit of nudey skin to skin!!

Hope you get the essay done butterfly. How far along are you now? I have no idea what is happening with my training. After being banned from tutorials because my branch couldn't pay my expenses I helped them apply for some funding and haven't heard a thing. I'm getting a bit sick and tired of it tbh. I might give the bfn or abm a call and see what their training entails.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 19:04

DS1 mostly has showers these days, as does DD. We just taken her in with us. It's really funny though cos she shoves me out the way to get "under mummy". bumble gets topped and tailed mostly. I think he has only had about 10 baths in his life so far, but has also had a couple of showers although he wasn't to keen!!

I'm fecking knackered.

DD has a raised blotchy rash now......under her armpits and round onto her front and her back and shoulders. It looks different to the rash bumble had; bigger splots and more raised, but maybe cos she is bigger? I hope she isn't spoiling for something nasty as don't viral rashes appear after a cold? she has been the picture of health recently.

the essays are the only thing putting me off becoming a BFC....not sure I have it in me these dd

LackaDAISYcal · 18/03/2009 19:05

oops, don't know what happened there....that was meant to say these days.

I'm definately signing up to be a nappy advisor with lollipop so if anyone wants nappies you know where to come
